Very disappointed with the place. Came with a friend for dinner and drinks. Our hostess was great and very friendly which is the only reason I've given it 2 stars rather than none. My sangria had so much ice and large chunks of fruit in it that there were barely 10 sips in the glass. Both my friend and I ordered their special pizza of the night which was supposed to be a white pizza with sausage and peppers. However, there's really no ricotta cheese on there at all. It's a plain pizza crust with ricotta cheese whip that's spread on so thin that it just looks like egg wash on the base. read more

I've ordered delivery from here several times at my cousin's who lives in the area and have always found the food to be reasonably good. A month or so ago a friend & I stopped in for a late Saturday brunch/lunch. The place was fairly empty, it was a lazy Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was very sweet. I got the Caprese Omelette & my friend ordered the Salmon entree. The food was fine, it's a reliable & reasonably priced neighborhood spot. Stopped in for a late night dinner after a show! Service was quick and efficient. We both started with house wine selections red and white. Both were prefect for our dinner. We split the romaine salad (like a Cesar with a vinaigrette). They split the salad and it was light and yummy! We also split the Sunday pasta! It was sooooooo good! The meatballs were so different, they a hint of currant. I highly recommend the Sunday pasta! The only downfall was that we had to ask for bread! Stopped by on a whim while walking past the restaurant. My boyfriend and I personally really enjoyed the restaurant. Our server was great, and service overall was really on point. It was SOOOO GOOOD. - We also got the clams appetizer and it was equally as delicious, but if you only want 1 appetizer, the burrata hands down. - Cacio e pepe pasta with shrimp added (I stole a bite and it was divine!) - Special pasta of the day was mussels w/sausage in a tomato sauce and this was also delicious as well. Ate there tonight, May 20, 2021, and, again, had a really nice dinner. I had the fish, covered with a delicious lemon butter sauce and capers, accompanied by potatoes. Ordered a warm bread, freshly baked, to lap up the sauce. The bread was good, but should have been included in the meal, we are used to a good bread at Itaiian restaurants. But, no matter, the bread was accompanied by a spread and olives, The sangria was delicious and the dessert was freshly prepared. The food here is a real one star experience but It deserves two stars because the staff is so friendly. I think I would give five stars for the staff but then a negative four for the food -equaling a one. However that wouldn't acknowledge the friendly and professional servers so a two star it is. But the food - its among the worst Italian food I've had recently. I think the best way to sum up the food at Nizza is not to compare it to an Italian restaurant but to a bad late night diner. Its a ton of heavy, sloppy, oversauced food lacking any quality, taste or finesse. I actually had a hard time finding my overcooked pasta under all the cheap oil and sauce. However I thought the bread was good. I think Nizza is okay if you come for wine/drinks and bread. Its a comfortable restaurant with the great aforementioned staff. I will admit the location is ideal and I loved sitting outside during fleet week ;) and the food is good, but it's certainly not memorable and left me with the most wicked heartburn on the planet. It could be because I'm not used to eating like this anymore but still the same...holy heartburn!!! The service was good, but ironically in a twist, a little too attentive. We told the server and not only one but literally FOUR busboys that we weren't done with the entrees yet. Like please, we are spending close to $200 and tip 20% at least, give us a minute to finish before every single person on the wait staff stalks us. The Peroni is cold, as it should be. The entrees, although most assuredly the proper amount of food to actually ingest was small in my opinion for the price, and the "crispy skin" on the Branzino was anything but...the pasta, although homemade was simply okay. The dessert menu has berries with Marsala listed and while I knew that it had to be a mistake was truly hoping they were going to blow my mind...yeah, it was marscapone cream. Bummer. read more

This is a quaint restaurant with patio seating perfect for people watching. The decor is nice. The manager was nice and set up our group of 8 when we arrived. ***Warning!!! They don't believe in cream sauces, so I was very disappointed I could not order fettuccini alfredo, or anything close to it. I never would have selected this restaurant had I known that. Also, It's rare to find an Italian restaurant without a filet. So I struck out again looking for a quality steak. I had to settle for chicken. Here's the next rub... when you fill our water glasses, I really don't want to share the germs on the lips of every other person in the restaurant. But when you set the water bottle on the rim of every one of our glasses as you pour, you're serving me up a cesspool of germs from strangers. Thanks for that. They brought out bread with mozzarella and oil very promptly. Surprisingly, it was very bland. In the dimly lit atmosphere, I actually thought I had spread butter on my bread. There was just no flavor. The waitress couldn't stand having me ask if we could do some sort of cream sauce on pasta. So she stormed off and got the manager, even though I never asked her to. She was clearly stressed and not happy to be serving customers. At least the manager was nice and tried to help a little but, though ultimately saying no to using the the type of pasta noodles I wanted. They had them. I guess he just didn't want to spend the extra 50 cents they might have cost. So I again settled. And all of this was before the food came! Speaking of the food coming... It certainly was not quick. To their credit, the food was decent when it came. If the service had been good, this was an easy 4-5 star rating. But the experience left me wanting and wishing I hadn't wasted one of our few vacation meals on this place. And the final rub... Though our two guests asked for a separate check, the waitress didn't do it. She told the other family to "circle what was yours and I'll separate it out afterwards." In my entire life, I've never had a waitress demand we do the accounting for her. I wouldn't return. Based on the service received tonight, I also cannot recommend this restaurant. Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat after seeing a matinee play on a Sunday. The place was pretty crowded, but we were able to be seated right away outside on a sunny day. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with a Sunday pasta. The pasta itself was pretty bland, but the meatballs and sausage were decent--I just wish they were incorporated more into the overall dish, rather than served almost on the side. I came here with a friend who has celiac disease and have seen her struggle with getting safe food at restaurants in the past. I had rigatoni with red sauce and guanciale (a non gluten free meal) and it was full of flavors with a softer pasta - which I personally like. It was thoughtful that they came by with focaccia and a cheese/olive oil dish while we were waiting for food. A lot of restaurants don't give bread to start nowadays! More refreshing was how well the staff seemed to know about my friend's food allergy and provided her with gluten free bread without us prompting. After facing down so many servers who treat her food allergy as a "trendy millennial thing" that deserves an eye roll, it was nice to see her not explain herself. Plus, I had some great bread to mop up all that leftover red sauce! I did wish that the waiter had not interrupted the meal often to ask us how things were going or if we needed alcohol. I do understand the fact that they might be trained to do this but sometimes my friend and I would be in the middle of a sentence and obviously focused in on each other when we had to turn and assure yet again that the food was good and we didn't need any alcohol. I visited Nizza yesterday with my two friends for my birthday. I had a fantastic time there to say the least! The food was fantastic and staff was extremely nice! We stopped in for brunch on Sunday without a reservation and were seated immediately. The wait staff was prompt and pleasant with water and menus. As we decided what to order we got to see all of the other food coming out of the kitchen. Gorgeous bucatini and meatballs, the socca with eggs. The socca is giant crispy chickpea flour torta baked with Swiss chard, onions, fontina and served with sunny side eggs. We behaved ourselves and didn't ask to taste the one the woman behind us ordered. My niece ordered the margarita pizza and she loved it. My sister and I both ordered the eggs Benedictino, an Italian take on eggs Benedict, two poached eggs served on toasted challah bread with roasted tomatoes, pancetta and an asiago fonduta. It is served with a simply dressed salad and is the perfect brunch dish. My only complaint was that the eggs were slightly overcooked and not runny as poached eggs should be. Even with that, I would die happy eating eggs Benedictino every day. They have a gigantic Italian espresso machine, so we had to get cappuccino. It was fantastic with thick, perfect foam. Portion size for the price probably needed another couple of ounces to make it more substantial. My uncle and I came upon Nizza on a very busy night yesterday. We were afraid that the wait would be a bit long, but luckily we were still seated promptly despite being nearly packed. And might I say, it was an experience to remember! The food, the ambiance, everything was phenomenal! I ordered the Linguini w/ clams, and my uncle ordered the Chicken Milanese. Both were ON POINT! The lunch special menu has about 6 sandwiches which could be paired with the soup of the day. As you outgrew condescended Campbell's soup many moons ago, I would stay away from the tomato soup. Although,the tomato soup taste like left over canned soup, the sandwiches are served on fluffy delicious bread with ample toppings. You can not substitute or alter any element of the sandwich, so if you don't like a particular topping remove it yourself or otherwise you will charged full price. In regard to the pastas, I tried the rigatoni with chicken sausage, roasted butternut squash, etc. it was very filing, but for $15 you could likely do better. Customer Service is absolutely amazing! Seated immediately on a Friday evening at 6:45p and out in less than an hour. We had the free bread and whipped mozzarella in olive oil. I also ordered a 'spiked' vodka strawberry lemonade - yum. I had the spaghetti alla carbonara, an egg whipped cream sauce, and my husband had the sunday pasta, a meat lovers dream, both were spectacular. What a wonderful experience! I have come Nizza several times before and enjoyed my meal and time, but never so much as I did last night! The manager and host were so very welcoming. We were given our choice of tables (I was with my best friend from Virginia and her eight year old daughter). We chose a booth. Both the hostess and the waitress and asked if we were seeing a show. We were. When we said Cats (yes, I know), the hostess told us her friend was in it (and we applauded her loudly at the show) and the server was so excited when we told her it was the first show for little girl. Prompt service, great wine, properly paced service, and overall fabulous. Definitely the best meal I have had at Nizza in the eight years I have been in the city. The meatballs! The lasagna! The PANSOTI! So great to share with the three of us. And all of the servers and staff were helpful and friendly. I love that they have the gluten-free menu and are so accommodating. It's obviously a hit as the place was full and patrons were raving. Keep it up, Nizza! You and the rest of your group are favorites! read more

We had an EXCELLENT dinner here and did not feel rushed at all. We arrived about 90 minutes before our show was to begin, and we were done in an hour. We enjoyed the gluten-free focaccia bread with olive oil & ricotta cheese - unique and tasty! We also loved the fig soda and the blood orange/ginger beer drink was incredibly flavorful. The gluten-free bolognese was truly a perfect balance of flavors, as was the creamy gnocchi - and gnocchi isn't easy to get right, as it has to be cooked just right. They did a phenomenal job with the food, the service was friendly and efficient, and the prices were very fair. We will be back to Nizza the next time we are in Manhattan. Good spot for a pre-theatre dinner in what can be a tricky neighborhood food-wise. I ate here last Saturday night before a show and we had quite a good meal. I'd recommend the chicken milanese as well as their pasta dishes -- very fresh and flavorful. We also tried the tiramisu and cheesecake for dessert, and both were pretty good. The space itself isn't huge, but they pack the tables in and use the room as efficiently as possible. Definitely make a reservation if you're going on a weekend or weeknight evening, as it gets packed before showtime. Service was fast even though they were totally full, which was impressive. From the moment we were greeted by David, the handsome and friendly manager, to the wonderful service offered by the adorable and very attentive, Luis, we had a evening that will be long remembered. Having lived in the South of France, we have a tasty snack ( some us eat it everyday!) called socca. Here at Nizza, one taste and I was transported back to Nice , or Nizza in Italian. All of the several dishes we tried were savory and carefully prepared. Excellent! In the past, quite a few well known stars of Broadway had mentioned Nizza as one can easily have a leisurely, unrushed dinner after a show. I can see why they loved it here. Nice Italian restaurant with a famous socca dish, specialty of Nice, France made from cheek pea flour. We went with my friends after a brunch that mostly consisted in drinking and not eating. The food was acceptable. I got a cheese pizza which was rather small and did not taste any special. My wife got a salad that was ok. Also, we tried a plate of socca and it was not nearly as good as the original but it gives a good idea of what you would deal with in the south of France. I would give a 4 star but the waiter left a nice oil stain on my short when he cleaned up the table and barely said sorry, so it's one star less for that. read more
