I chose NMS because of their personal touch. They sent Jack out to check out my belongings to be moved, and he was friendly and answered my many questions. However, the day of the move, one of the workers put a large dent in the side of my filing cabinet. I was in the basement at the time so didn't see it, and the worker then tried to claim the dent was already there. I bought that filing cabinet new and nothing ever happened to it to cause such a dent. At the other end of the move, the workers piled two heavy boxes on top of my heirloom china. The china was in a special dish-pack box and had fragile stickers on the top and all four sides. I wrote to Jack to tell him about these two issues. Although I didn't ask for compensation, I did mention that the large dent in my filing cabinet probably dropped its resale value by $100. I got no response. No apology. Nothing. I contacted NMS Moving about 10 days before I wanted to move after the initial moving company I had contacted finally told me after getting an estimate that they were actually not available for the date that I had requested. Joe was very nice and professional and came out the day after I contacted them to go through an in person inspection of everything I would need moved. I did not have them pack or unpack the boxes as I have moved 8+ times over the years and didn't need that service, but he did offer some tips on packing the boxes, which was helpful. Everything went smoothly with receiving the estimate and scheduling the pick-up and drop-off window, even with the short notice. Andy and his crew were right on time both for pick up and drop off. They were quick, careful, and very courteous the entire time. These guys were great in helping us move to a new state. The driver (Andy) and his crew were top notch and professional. They got our whole house loaded up in a half a day, and unloading was even quicker. All of our belongings arrived safely and as packed. In addition to that, several items we're missed by the packers, and a number of other items came out broken and dirty. I move often for work, and this is one of the worst experiences I've had. I was moving from Newbury Park to Lake Forest, about 100 miles. NMS gave me the best estimate and the best service. They offered to bring free boxes to my house for the move. A week before the move I had a packer come to do some packing for me. He was amazing -- it only took him a couple of hours. Today was the actual move. The movers arrived on time, and finished early. All three of them were very personable, efficient and very strong. My move came in below my estimate. Everything was in terrific shape when it arrived. I hired NMS Moving Systems to move me from Chatsworth to Stevenson Ranch, which is a 15 minute drive. I had a 2bdrm 1300 sq ft townhouse. They took all day to move me, over 10 hours. This was deliberately done to raise the cost of their services. They were slow, lazy, and took a lot of cigarette breaks. I asked for 3 men, and only 2 worked, we had to help load the truck. They are not honest with their contract and price quote. I will never use them again. Thinking of filing a complaint with the BBB. Crooks!! read more

If you are looking to have personal items moved, this is not the company to go through. Atlas moved our household goods from New York to California. On delivery day we observed that several of our items were not just damaged but they were obliterated. we had lamps that were completely shattered, steel chairs that had legs bent and smashed, missing boxes, boxes that were supposed to contain certain items but the items were not in the box, and several other damaged items. our new residence is about half the size of the place where we came from. We took pictures of all the damaged items. We repaired items that we could repair, and we got rid of all the items that were trashed. we put in a claim for the damaged and lost items. 6 months after our move in date an assessor was sent to our house, to assess damages and make repairs. My wife asked him how he was supposed to repair a smashed Bose stereo system or steel chairs that were crushed or shattered lamps. we showed home the pictures and he said hewould make his report to Atlas. Atlas denied our claim because we had thrown the items away. we explained that we had no room to store these items for 6 months waiting for inspection and had to replace some of them. The pictures showed e xactly what any competent person would determine as damaged beyond repair but Atlas told us their policy was that we had to save all items for their inspector to view at his leisure. Claim denied. As for the lost items, Atlas says all of the items should have been delivered in the boxes they were packed in. We agreed with that statement, but the fact remains that several of our items were missing. If you care about your personal items, DO NOT use Atlas for your household move, and if you do, don't waste time putting in a claim for damaged or lost items. One more thing to add. We had taken out full coverage on all of our household goods. This entailed us taking pictures of everyone of our items to be packed and shipped. That being said, we had before and after pictures of all items. Insurance coverage is another scam by Atlas. Steer clear of these guys and be sure to tell all of your friends. read more

My movers - Andy, Terry, and Kayne - arrived right on schedule, moved everything on to the truck cleanly and efficiently - they put down pads to protect all the floors and were extra careful with everything. Once we arrived at my new apartment we realized that the fridge wouldn't fit as is through the doorways and they masterfully removed the doors and made sure everything was in place again and working once it was inside.
