I have no idea how you can serve food from this establishment. I got the orange chicken and my dad got the egg shrimp foo yung, and when I say I have never been more disappointed about Chinese food, I mean it. Firstly, what place EVER sells the sauce for orange chicken separately?? It's orange chicken, not chicken with some dipping sauce. Secondly, the "sauce" was thin as water, and tasted just like water. It was also bright red for some reason even known most orange chicken sauces are a nice dark color?? My dad's sauce was the same, no flavor and was just plain horrible. We don't go out that often, and when we do it's a special treat and is always good. This was not a treat, instead it was tournament. If you don't want to feel like you got scammed, dont go here EVER. We ordered the Crab Rangoon, Beef with Vegetables, Sesame Chicken, fried rice and regular white rice. Everything was fantastic. Fresh, not over cooked vegetables, beautiful presentation, very delicious. Rice was nice, soft and fluffy (fresh). Portions were generous, enough for a couple meals. Waited way too long on a Sunday evening to order the Chinese I'd been craving all day so I was genuinely surprised when this place popped up as being still open at 9:20pm. Called and placed a takeout order and the person who took it mentioned that they were closing soon so would I please be there in 15 mins to pick up and I obliged. Although the person on the phone was very straight to the point the staff was very polite when I arrived and even gave me both chili oil and hot sauce packets when I said I wasn't sure which I would prefer. Mason was my first pick till they sold and fell apart. Good: Food is decent. Not a fan of the fried shrimp, but everything else is pretty decent. I have had a wide array of items and would only avoid anything with shrimp. All very standard fair. Bad: calling them is impossible. I would bet their sales would go up 30-40% if they upgraded their phones. Just order online. You miss out on discounts but save frustration. They are perpetually busy. If I could give 0 stars I would. This was the worst customer service ever! I placed an order online through beyond menu and when I called the store to change it to delivery they were worried about a tip instead of delivering my food. I'm a server and I always give cash so for them to decline my order because of a tip thats not on the order is ridiculous. I would never order from here again. Worst customer service. I went through beyond menu to place an order and accidentally placed it for takeout at 5:21 PM. I called Number 1 at 5:22 and asked for them to change it to delivery and they said they didn't want to deliver because I didn't tip them so I asked for a refund. They told me to go through BeyondMenu for a refund. So I call beyond menu at 5:28 PM and they told me that Number one china had to refund me and that they were going to call them and cancel the order. They called back at 5:33 and said that Number 1 china said the food was already done and they could not refund me mind you I already asked to cancel my order at 5:22. I was jumping through hoops for about an hour before they gave me a refund. Never will I EVER order from here or beyond menu again. You have been warned. read more

There was metal in my mouth. I was eating and pulled a rather large metal shard out of my mouth. That's so messed up. That can really mess up your insides. Clearly something is not being cleaned, or cleaned properly. Also saw food sitting out in the open next to the fryer waiting for orders that should have been refrigerated. Health code standards are not being followed. I did have to report them to the health department. There's so many violations that can be so dangerous for customers. Dinner was good tonight! Chicken Lo Mein, good. Sesame Chicken, good. Sweet and Sour Chicken, good. Pork Eggrolls, good. Crab Rangoons, good. The only thing that was off was the Mu Shoo Pork. Honey said that they used their barbecued pork in it which was weird. He said the sauce was good and had it had regular pork in it, it would have been really good! They don't understand English & are very argumentative with people. They always mess up the orders, when we do get the food it tastes like how wet dog smells like, when we call about the wrong order & taste they pretend to only speak Chinese. We i got a charges on my credit card in China after I called about the order....my credit card company denied the charges & called me. For Chinese delivery, this place is fantastic. My wife and I had a favorite place that delivered, and sadly one day, the phone just kept ringing....they closed! This was devistating. Over the course of the next couple of weeks we tried different chinese delivery places to find our replacement and gah, it was a horrible experience. Each place was disgusting. But one day, one faithful day, Number 1 China's menu was on my door. My wife and I had such a hesitation giving it a try considering that every other place that we tried before was awful. We were hungry and I didn't want to cook so we took a leap of faith. I got the orange chicken combo and my wife got the shrimp and broccoli and we split an order of pot stickers. HOLY TASTEBUDS BATMAN, WE FOUND IT! We found our go to chinese delivery place for when we are too lazy to cook! The food is delicious. The chicken was nice and spicy, crispy and tasted fresh. The fried rice was cooked very good and those pot stickers, oh those pot stickers are big mouth watering sausage encased in a cloud of dough and fried to golden brown. They are absolutely amazing. My wife said the shrimp was good, they actually give you enough to get full on, and doesn't overload you with the veggies like most crappy chinese places do. New to the area and this is the 1st Chinese place we have tried and oh what a disappointing experience. Food lacks flavor completely. Ordered simple dishes mostly to try them out, Chicken Fried Rice, Beef Fried Rice, a Szechwan Vegetable dish, egg rolls and crab Rangoon. Have never seen fried rice without any egg. Google fried rice recipes, they all have egg. This place used no egg in both our fried rice orders so we doubt it was a mistake. Only tasted pepper. Lots and lots of pepper. Egg rolls bland. Bland mush. No crisp to the outside at all. Were they pre-made hours before and days before, were they frozen previously? All these likely answers for what we were delivered. The Szechwan dish was also full of pepper. Can you make pepper bland? Well yes they can. This is a dish we had previously ordered at other restaurants regularly so it is familiar to us. Have never ordered a Szechwan sauce quite like this and not in a good way. Crab Rangoon was the only saving grace of the who cost of the meal we ordered. We will continue our search for a good place in our new area. read more

I am really upset with the poor service..We ordered $30+ worth of food from them,and informed them that they charged us for an appetizer but didn't get it. They said they didn't charge us but we could pick up the appetizer. I go all the way back there she didn't say sorry for the inconvenience just tossed the bag and the writing on bag had "free food" on it..seems small but I did pay for it! I called back to let them know it wasn't cool to do that lady was real combative and said don't come back. So bottom line is make sure you check your order or you will get terrible treatment for asking for something you PAID FOR!..Oh and they have underage children working there as well wonder if child welfare knew that? I've been eating here for about 12+ years, and the food has come a very, very long way in my opinion! The shrimp egg rolls were their best I've ever had on Dec. 31, 2019. Also, the shrimp fried rice is on or above par with other Chinese in the area (they use bigger shrimps than most and don't skimp on them). The crab rangoons are so crunchy and fresh too. Jo-Jo is the wife & Gary is the husband, a young mid-30s couple who were in New York before Montgomery, IL. These are seriously hardworking people. Despite all these bad reviews, it's the busiest Chinese Restaurant in the entire area! I know, I've been to the others several times. For me, the Customer Service is impeccable, but maybe it's because I like them. I was there New Year's Eve 2018 too. This week the whole family & crew were pitching in. The restaurant was packed.
