    chicken, broccoli, and rice

We stopped in a few Saturdays ago after picking up a friend from the airport, we all were craving Chinese food. It was around 7pm and the strip/plaza had trash scattered about in front of all the shops. Even the parking lot was trashy. The restaurant is very small and only has 4 or 5 small tables. The place doesn't look very clean. There's a bunch of dust on the ceiling fans. My husband said the restroom was nasty. But guess what?! Their health score is 100. I couldn't believe it. So let's leave the trashy parking lot and dusty fan out of this because I was hangry and had to satisfy my craving. Our food was served in styrofoam take out plates even though we said it was for dining in. We all enjoyed our meal and even took our leftovers home. It's a little hole in the wall, but they serve hot delicious food. It was also inexpensive which works for me!

Decent Chinese food. I had the General Tso chicken with white rice and a spring roll. The chicken may have been a bit over cooked, but the Tso sauce was some of the best I've ever had. Spicy! The white rice was cooked perfectly. The spring roll, while small for the price, was delicious.

Soft food with carbs. Service online ahead. Ambiance of its ancestors. Their language at times I understand .

Food is fresh and made to order. So good that the only thing eclipsing it is the super nice family that runs it. 5 Stars easy

I ordered the Sesame Chicken, Crab Rangoon, and an Egg Roll... all 3 were horrible and overcooked. Waste of $14.

We wanted…read morenoodles, and figured this was going to be just another noodle bar but to our surprise, it was an authentic Chinese restaurant. Nobody was inside, it was just the two of us. Very quiet. The owners spoke little English, but the food was amazing! I highly recommend going.

The daughter was eager to bring me to Meet Noodles. She was so happy to have found a place that…read moreserved Chong Qing Broth and Sliced Noodles which she missed from her undergraduate years in Hawaii. It was an interesting restaurant as we walked in. The decor didn't come across as Chinese. I'm glad my daughter was familiar with the place because I would not have known to go to the back counter to order. I tried asking a couple things about the menu but could not understand the worker that well. It seemed that he couldn't understand me either because he initially put in the wrong orders -- my daughter caught it before we paid. Very reasonable prices. I ordered the Roast Duck Noodles with the Marinated Egg added. My daughter got her usual "Build a Bowl" of Chong Qing Broth, Sliced Noodles, Steak and Fried Egg. I thought I had ordered a Shrimp Wonton appetizer, but a bowl of soup arrived. After asking the worker about it, he just kept saying it was soup (I know), so I just left that alone. Overall quite delicious -- very authentic Chinese flavors. Excellent house made noodles. The depth of flavor in the broths was fantastic. The proteins were seasoned nicely and cooked well. The bok choy in my soup still had a nice bite. The fried egg was crispy on the edges and perfectly runny in the middle. Unfortunately, I found the marinated egg too salty. Service was minimal -- after ordering, the food comes out and that's it. If you need something, you have to get up to ask. No one checks in. The area wasn't busy when we arrived, so parking was very easy right in front. I'm told it does get tough during peak times. I would definitely return for the food, not the service.

I'd definitely recommend dining in - we went in on a rainy Thursday around 6 and it was already packed, but a table for two opened within about five minutes. Service is great and food hits the table quickly. We started with the fresh rolls, chicken and cabbage dumplings, and the tom kha. We added a side of peanut sauce, which was a game changer for the fresh rolls. The tom kha was a little tart for my taste, but was loaded with veggies that were cooked perfectly. The dumplings were super tender, and the fresh rolls are my favorite in town! For entrees, we got the pad thai and pad see-ew with rice noodles. Both absolutely delish, and we loved how the pad see-ew was prepared simply and traditionally with Chinese broccoli. Those portions are not to be reckoned with... we ended up taking two boxes full of noodles home! Their sticky rice with mango was our favorite bite of the night. The rice was the PERFECT texture, in a not-too-sweet sauce, topped with toasted coconut, and the juiciest, sweetest mango. What a treat.

I was unfortunately disappointed in both the food and the service at The Smiling Elephant…read more I dined with some friends and despite the restaurant not being close to full, we were rushed throughout the entire meal. Whether it came to ordering or receiving the bill, it felt like our server was doing everything she could to try and get us out the door. I was not impressed with our food. I ordered the Thom Kha soup and I enjoyed the sour and savory broth, but the large chunks of hardly cooked vegetables were unpleasant. The Chicken Satay was not cooked to my liking -- again, it was served with large chunks of vegetables that were too hard, the chicken was hardly grilled like traditional satay would be, the peanut sauce was one note (as an Indonesian I know how good a peanut sauce can be and this was just not it) and the rice was just "fine". The bathroom had a large frosted window that shared a wall with the restaurant, so despite the frosted glass, there really wasn't any privacy. I did enjoy the decor and the "hole in the wall" feel to it. But I don't know if I would come back to dine again.
