Food is very good. This is my first choice for Chinese. Usually I order through Door Dash or Uber Eats. Today we decided to pick up our order. When completing my order online, it asked for a tip, defaulting to $3.77 on our $27 order. There wasn't the option to NOT leave a tip so I selected Custom Tip and entered 0. After completing the order, the total included $3.77 tip + $1 Convenience Fee. I elected to pay at the time we picked up the order. We had to tell the employee to remove the tip because we didn't agree to paying a tip. We tip generously when seated in a restaurant. Any more, no matter where you are, they try to guilt you into tipping. NO! Not from me. read more

My husband is OBSESSED with this spot, and orders from there about once a week. However, they are SLOOOOOOOW moving. We've went in twice, and both times after ordering we waited over an hour. Good for them for being so busy, sad for us when we're hungry. This is mostly a typical Chinese food joint. I'm not the biggest fan, and the location is tight and it's typical for a drunk or homeless person to wander in and make things awkward. I've been ordering takeout from No 1 Chinese for the past 8 months ever since I've moved into the neighborhood. My go to order is the sesame chicken combo platter. I think the food is great for a take out Chinese restaurant and they don't use that cheap yellow Spanish rice in their food. This place also gives you the best bang for your buck I always have leftovers for the next day. I see people complaining about some of the food being frozen before being cooked, give this place a break. You're not ordering from a five star restaurant, it's a step above fast food. As for the ordering process I've never had an issue, the employees on the phone always tell me 15-20 minutes for the food to be ready and sometimes it'll be done in 10. I always do take out, so when walking in I'm greeted respectfully and have never had an issue. I did take off one star for the general cleanliness of the restaurant, although I have never gotten sick and have eaten there at least once a month, they should clean the place up a bit. When you go up to the counter you can see directly into the kitchen, I've never seen anything concerning but I feel as if it'll drive people away. Definitely one of my favorite local spots to eat at. It's not the prettiest, however a lot of the best places to eat are those hole in the wall joints. read more

Update: 6/2013 We use to order deliver from No 1 Chinese on at least a monthly basis. The food was very good and delivery was extremely fast (they would be at our house within 20 minutes and we live at least 10-15 minutes away). It was great! Then.. One day it all seemed to change. The food is still the same, but delivery times seem to have changed dramatically. The last two times we have ordered it has taken over an hour and a half to get our food. This would have been okay if we were told up front it would take that long. But each time they said 30-40 minutes and we end up waiting over double that. The last time we ordered, the delivery driver was extremely rude to my wife. I was not home at the time, but the driver showed up over an hour late. He then got very upset at the fact that my wife separated the customer copy from the merchant copy of the receipt. I guess he wanted both copies stapled together? My wife called to complain to the manager, who did absolutely nothing about it. Unfortunately, we will not be ordering from No 1 again and will be on the hunt for new Chinese take-out in Apopka. It is really too bad as we were regular patrons for over a year and I really did like the food. But, being 1 hour late (twice) + a rude delivery drive + mgmt not even apologizing = I am done with you. I will never get food from you again, sorry. read more

We don't have many good take out restaurants in Apopka and we heard this Chinese restaurant was really good. We gave it a try tonight and had General Tao's Chicken and Chicken with Garlic Sauce. We had Egg Rolls that were wonderful and best of all the Dumplings were filled with so much meat and the Dipping sauce was tangy and so good. This is a welcome take out for our little town. Many people I know order delivery from this place, but if they ever went into the actual building, I think that would change. I've been here several times, and the food is on par with your below average Chinese take-out. The issue I have found is the cleanliness. I know most people don't eat inside, but seeing as how they are close to my house, I do stop in to pick up the food as opposed to delivery. What I have seen several times is a sticky floor that hasn't been cleaned all day, a run down waiting area for your food, and an overall lack of cleanliness looking into the kitchen. On one visit, there was a child of an employee in a sleeping bag on the floor behind the counter, who sounded horribly sick. Combos come with an egg roll, but we didn't get either egg roll with our two combos (which wasn't noticed until too late). Pork fried rice was bland. Beef and broccoli was decent, but not awesome. First I want to start off with the quality of the food. Mediocre at best. I ordered a few times and it's the same every time. Bland meats smothered in sauce and rice that tastes a few days old. Second I want to address the service. Ordering over the phone is a nightmare in itself. They don't understand that much English and will make you repeat yourself multiple times. When you think you are getting somewhere, they will answer the other phone while they are taking your order. I find that to be very rude. AND then there is the delivery man. He is extremely rude! I tipped him 3 dollars and I noticed as he was walking away that he was shaking his head. So the next time I ordered I only tipped a dollar to see if he would do that again. And he turned around and threw his hands in the air in disgust. So I opened the door and asked if he had a problem and he just kept walking shaking his head and saying something in a different language.
