Ugh, why is this "fried rice" orange?

Awful awful awful. I can't even believe I'm giving it one star. The pork was inedible and DISGUSTING. The fried rice - just bright orange rice that wasn't fried and clearly cooked in something. Disgusting. We had to throw 75% of our order away because it was inedible. The only thing we kept was the lo mein which was plain - nothing to screw up. This was the most disgusting takeout meal I've ever had.

    Horrible Egg Drop Soup

If there's one ethnicity of food that I find to be as simple as black or white, good or bad, and no middle ground....it's Chinese! I never find it to be just alright, it's typically either authentically great or attempting to appeal to the masses bad! No 1 Chinese is the latter, just bad in all regards! Now I know you're thinking, why would he go there when he sees they have a 2 star average? You're right! But on this day I was in a pinch and thought, why not! The fried rice is unusually yellow and so over cooked that it's dry and crumbly! The egg drop soup, for which was supposed to be wonton soup, was bland and so much egg that I counted it for breakfast the next day! The pork Lo Mein was the only decent thing and perhaps that was due to the saucy nature of it masking the ineptness of the dish? Lesson learned here...don't get in a pinch for Chinese food?

Roast Pork with Mushrooms and a Hot & Sour soup.....dissapointment!

Being from NY I am picky about my chineese food. A lot of seats amd tables. They were all empty, that should have been a hint! This place definitely dissapointed! The hot & Sour soup was a hot mess, no flavor, very bland. The only good thing about the Roast Pork with Mushrooms was that it was a healthy portion. Flavor wise it sank!!! Comes with a seperate plate of white rice. They didn't even bother to cut the mushrooms into decent bite size. Really disaapointed, will not be going back! Mr. LU'S on Robinhood Road is much better, just no room to eat there, more of a take out.

Worst shrimp fried rice ever... Used yellow rice instead of adding egg.

Fickled results... Spicy Garlic dinner good... Shrimp fried rice, horrible... Pitiful small shrimp. Frozen peas, horrible and tasteless... Frozen carrot cubes horrible. Yellow rice, no egg... Horrible... Hot and sour soup average. Seafood soup average. All in all... I would have to be isolated on an island to ever order from them again. P.S. Cheap... All of the above was $22.

I usually get the combo plates that include an entree, egg roll and rice. Today, I have been battling a cold and cough and some wonton soup sounded perfect to sooth my throat. The rest of my family ordered some different dishes for themselves. We ordered online and I sent my son to pick everything up which only took 20 min. The wonton soup had so many wontons in it I split it into three servings. They also give you the fried wonton strips to sprinkle on top if you like that. The portions on all the other food were also big. Mr. Lus doesn't skimp there. We all had plenty for lunch the next day. The service is always fast, reliable and friendly. There is no dining room. It's all take out at Mr Lus so be prepared for that. Otherwise it's your basic order at the counter place.

All the items chosen were good, with the Fried Shrimp and the Mongolian Beef proving to be very, very good! Mongolian Beef is a favorite Chinese American dish. Despite the name, it was developed in Taiwan before coming to the USA, an been very popular, especially as a take out item. The version served here is among the best, nearly as good as the best in the area, that served at Jade Garden in Advance. The dish here adheres to the straight forward simplicity of processing quality beef, onions, and peppers well seasoned with a soy based sauce. The fried shrimp are small, fresh tasting, and well breaded and well seasoned. This isn't an item often thought of when considering Chinese American appetizer, but I would suggest you consider it , especially when a bit of hot mustard or Chinese hot sauce is added. I have tried at least a dozen items here, and there have only been a couple I would not reorder. The sipped with which your order is prepared is a definite plus, usually you are out in under 15 minutes.

Our party of four had the two apps, 3 beers, and four entrees. Prices were pretty standard for Winston Salem. My fish was $18. We were given 3 small paper napkins for our party and had to request at least one per person. We got there between 7 and 7:30 and had finished eating by 8:30. They close at 9. At 8:35 they started mopping the dining room including the area next to our table. I worked in restaurants as a server, bartender and manager for about twenty years. This isn't ok. Our bill was well over $100 but it wouldn't have been ok no matter what the bill was. We realized that we were just an inconvenience to them. I tipped well because I always do. But I will not be back. Hospitality is important for repeat business.

The menu has a great mix of familiar Chinese dishes alongside more traditional regional specialties, and it's clear the restaurant isn't afraid to lean into bold, spicy flavors. The ambiance is cozy. It looks like they turned an old Biscuitville into the dining space, which is quite charming. We ordered quite a few dishes, including the steamed soup dumplings, ox tongue and tripe with chili sauce, Singapore mei fun, intestine with chili pepper, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, and the intestine noodle. Everything was well prepared, but the standout was how the restaurant balances more "American Chinese" flavors while also staying true to some more traditional chinese flavors as well. The chili-forward dishes had plenty of heat without overpowering the other flavors, and each dish had its own distinct character. The ox tongue and tripe appetizer and the intestine dishes were great options if you're looking to try something a little more traditional. The portions were generous, making it a great place to order several dishes and share with the table. If you're used to American Chinese food, this menu offers a chance to branch out and try something different while still having plenty of familiar options available. If there is a dish I would not order again, it would probably be the soup dumplings. They tasted just like the store bought frozen variety that you can steam at home. Nonetheless, New Sichuan Restaurant is well worth a visit if you're desiring flavors that somewhat lean towards more traditional Sichuan cooking.

There are few restaurants locally that can top this dish. The Double Cooked Pork was a good dish though the pork was a bit on the tough side. There was a load of crunchy vegetables that brought the flavor. This is a really good Chinese American take out spot, just wish it was closer.

There's other serviceable Chinese food spots in the area, but they've always been consistent with their lunch service and as a sit down option, we prefer them over almost anyone else in the area. My wife got the General Tsos chicken with fried rice and wonton soup. I got the Szechuan beef with fried rice and it was delicious. Their beef is always cooked very well for thin cuts. Not chewy, very tender and flavorful. The veggies that come with it, the sliced celery, green peppers and carrots were cooked a little under to my liking, but it paired well with the beef flavor and the sauce its prepared in. Didn't get the chance to taste any of my wife's food but she was happy with it. Their food is always prepared very well anyways, so it was no surprise. Wasn't much of a lunchtime crowd, so the setting was quiet and we enjoyed it. I wish they'd bring their Sunday buffet back.
