    C15. Orange Chicken Combo Platter

One of the best Chinese restaurants in High Point! Substituted the pork fried rice for veggie fried rice. Tastes fresh and full of vegetables. I'm not of a fan of their pork fried rice because the chunks of pork is sometimes very dry and not tasty! The sesame and orange chicken is great! Some pieces had a lil too much breading, but the sauces make up for it! Chicken wings are crispy and very juicy! Always order a side of them with your main dish!

Ordered from here one Sunday because my go-to place was closed (I reviewed them awhile back). Ordered beef broccoli combo and szechuan beef. The young lady working was polite and courteous. The food was done and ready to go in about ten minutes while I waited in the lobby. The actual food was a bland, sloppy mess devoid of any flavor. The szechuan beef had zero heat and tasted like the beef broccoli. The rice was just okay and the saving grace was the egg roll. I knew going there would be a mistake based on my last order from three or four years ago. Chu's has been in this location for a very long time and I can remember back when they were really good...like in 1996. Do yourself a favor and stroll down Centennial to the College Village Shopping Center and order from the Chinese food place there - you won't regret it like I did this past Sunday.

    Sesame tofu. Very bland!!!

I thought at first it might have been a ramen place, but once I walked in and saw the menu, I was thrilled to try the food. Jasmine took my order and brought my food. I'm not sure if she is the manager or not, but she should be. Super nice, knew what was good and was able to recommend some things. I ended up ordering Japanese pan noodles with steak and a drink. It was really good. (nom nom nom!) I'll have to come in and try more if I get the chance.

But I was happy to see gluten sensitive options available although gluten-free was preferred. I ordered the zucchini roasted garlic cream dish with grilled chicken added. My husband ordered the backyard bbq chicken salad. We were a bit disappointed at the size of the portions, however, the taste was really impressive. We also ordered the Korean BBQ meatballs. Once again, the size was disappointing for the cost, however, the taste was pretty good. The service one this day was really good. The young lady that took our order was really nice. The ambiance was also nice. It was a really calm atmosphere. The most disappointing thing again was the serving sizes in relation to the price. They were really small.

I liked the ambience of the restaurant and our server was pleasant. The orange dragon roll with mango was sublime and I will definitely return just for that. On the downside, I found the other things I ordered somewhat inedible. The edamame wasn't steamed enough so it was incredibly difficult to pop them out of their pods to eat. I got tired of trying. My friend ordered the vegetable tempura app and she offered me a sweet potato since that is my favorite. It hadn't cooked all the way through in the center so again difficult to eat. The other roll I ordered had eel in it. Now I have eaten quite a lot eel before but I never had tasted eel so chewy. The mouth feel was so gross that I ended up spitting it out. I think this place has a lot of good qualities so I am willing to give them another shot but I would like to remind their chefs to slow down to ensure that the food is cooked more properly so it would be more enjoyable to its patrons.

The menu has a great mix of familiar Chinese dishes alongside more traditional regional specialties, and it's clear the restaurant isn't afraid to lean into bold, spicy flavors. The ambiance is cozy. It looks like they turned an old Biscuitville into the dining space, which is quite charming. We ordered quite a few dishes, including the steamed soup dumplings, ox tongue and tripe with chili sauce, Singapore mei fun, intestine with chili pepper, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, and the intestine noodle. Everything was well prepared, but the standout was how the restaurant balances more "American Chinese" flavors while also staying true to some more traditional chinese flavors as well. The chili-forward dishes had plenty of heat without overpowering the other flavors, and each dish had its own distinct character. The ox tongue and tripe appetizer and the intestine dishes were great options if you're looking to try something a little more traditional. The portions were generous, making it a great place to order several dishes and share with the table. If you're used to American Chinese food, this menu offers a chance to branch out and try something different while still having plenty of familiar options available. If there is a dish I would not order again, it would probably be the soup dumplings. They tasted just like the store bought frozen variety that you can steam at home. Nonetheless, New Sichuan Restaurant is well worth a visit if you're desiring flavors that somewhat lean towards more traditional Sichuan cooking.

They are very willing to do substitutions for vegetarian meals, I even have had tofu Dan Dan noodles there. The spicy dishes are indeed spicy! Some of the portions could be a little bigger, but everything is very tasty. I love their bok choy, which is in many of their dishes. The spicy wontons were room temperature, and I'm not sure if they're supposed to be, but they were the only thing we haven't loved. My Chongqing noodles with tofu added was absolutely delicious and very spicy! There's not a lot of description on their menu, so you may want to do a little research before going.
