Ordered take out via Grubhub. Came to pick up my one miso soup and one tuna hand roll right at the time Grubhub indicated. The soup was cold & the roll was warm. And they charged extra $1 for my brown rice for the hand roll. It barely even have rice in it. Won't order from here again. If you don't want to be disappointed, order from Mizu in New City instead. Always fresh, nice people and only .50 for the brown rice surcharge. There's an all you can eat special for about $24 but please make sure you eat every single piece of food you ordered. They will charge you additional money if you don't eat everything. There are two No 1 Sushi restaurants, both in Rockland. This particular one is smaller and in fact too many tables tightly arranged. You feel like you are on top of the other table. The quality was also a little lacking as well as the service. Though it is a small restaurant, felt like the 3 servers couldn't manage. They had 4 sushi chefs but presentation and taste was lacking. An all you can eat sushi place that controls how much you eat by slowing down service and slowing giving you the selection menu. I usually don't write reviews but people need to know this place is horrible. As soon as me and my friend walked in there was no one to seat us at a table. We sat down at the nearest table guessing and they ask us for our drinks and we didn't get any menus just two pieces of papers to fill out for the all you can eat sushi. After deciding and filling it out we get a side of salad, 5 pieces of calamari, and a chicken breast, that wasn't fully cooked drenched in hibachi sauce that tasted exactly like rubber. It gets better! We had to wait 40 minutes for our sushi while other people were being served their sushi and they came after us. We were already annoyed and hungry so we asked for our check and the waiter tried to charge us for 2 all you can eat sushi ($53.00) and not being served any sushi!! After explaining that what he was doing wasn't rational he left the bill charging us $5 for a cup size salad, $5 for rubber chicken, and $5 for 5 pieces of calamari that also tasted horrible. Love this place to no end! Eat here on a regular basis with my girlfriends for all-you-can-eat. We have tried basically everything on that menu and have loved it all! The kitchen menu has a great variety of items which are all tasty, including the spring rolls (harumaki) and the shumai! Can't get enough of those two things as well as the gyoza. The sushi menu is just as good with a wide variety of sushi options. I personally love the Manhattan roll and the dragon roll. But if all-you-can-eat isn't really your thing, the regular menu is great too! It has tons of other options that the all-you-can-eat menu doesn't give you, but it will eventually get more expensive if you choose a lot of the chefs sushi options. But overall the prices are actually pretty reasonable for the quality of food you get. I just enjoy the fact that is both inexpensive and the food is exceptional! read more

Now if anyone knows what this is - it's surimi - a combination of white fish paste and wheat gluten. So when I called the restaurant to inform them of the problem they tell me the roll is definitely vegan and the crabstick is imitation and made of a mixture of flours. After speaking with the manager and him assuring me that he tells all the vegetarians that there is no fish in the imitation crabmeat, he reads me the ingredient list - first ingredient - Alaskan pollock. So for years these people have been telling their vegetarian customers that they are not eating an animal. Low and behold they are actually eating meat. The menu is hard to navigate and for having the name number 1 sushi the sushi is definitely not on par. Service was rushed and extremely uninterested in helping understand the menu. Halfway through a salad it gotten taken away. For the cost you get very little what you pay for. I do not plan on returning and definitely don't recommend people bothering to try it. read more

The waiter points to the leftover food on our plate and says, "you have to finish your food or we charge you $5.00 extra." I was baffled and asked to speak to the manager/owner. The owner reiterated, that they charge for any food left over on the plate. And he added, "if you don't eat it all, we have to throw it out". Oh!! Is that what they do with leftover food? It's pretty dark inside and the writing on the menu is really tiny so it makes it very hard to read. The food was overall excellent and came out quick. The staff isn't friendly at all though, and they are a bit pushy/hesitant to hand you another paper for all you can eat. They're really busy so I get it, but still .. it is all you can eat... every time they handed us food & picked up empty plates we said thank you, never getting a response back. Social distancing is definitely not enforced here and they had another table of people squished right up against us. The second we put our dessert in our check was dropped right off at our table. This location is much fancier than the one in pearl river. The menu options are exactly the same. I love the all you can eat. Staff is attentive. I do think the pearl river location tastes more fresh though. I reccomend the sashimi from the all you can eat menu with a side of spicy mayo. Also the teriyaki fish is good.
