Really disappointed by our experience here. Firstly mics were not working consistently. They had to twist and add diff batteries on on four different occasions. The AC wasn't working and thermostat was 77 degrees. Employees claimed all rooms were like that but when I walked past other ones when I was on my way to the bathroom they were freezing cold. There was a power outage and the machine broke down after 1 hour. While we did get a refund I would say I would not come back - very disappointed esp since my friend from out of the country wanted to experience karaoke. read more

I consider myself a karaoke aficionado - karaoke in the small private rooms, not the singing in front of a bar of people style. This was the worst karaoke experience I've ever had, unfortunately and I will steer people clear of No. 18 whenever they ask my opinion. We had a reservation for 2 hours and probably used about 90 minutes of it because the music stopped several times. Literally just stopped. The first time we couldn't figure out how to get things going and they came in to show us. They had a tablet on the wall with different options that didn't work, a button to call for service that didn't work and the controls where the microphones sat didn't work. Only the front touch screen TV worked to control anything which was pretty ridiculous. The second time the music stopped, the guy came in to help and he said oh, the machine powered off. What in the heck?! And mind you, no extension of our time or discount for these inconveniences. Song selection was just terrible. There weren't a ton of songs and from some popular artists, they would have obscure songs from them and not their big hits. It made no sense. They really need to add to their song selections in order to ensure repeat guests. And have a better way of searching for specific songs instead of scrolling through everything. Mind you, there may have been a way to search but as no one explained anything to us with their fancy-schmancy-janky system, picking out the next tune was a drag. Get a song book, mayan! I was also disappointed (but don't hold it against them) they had no soju or Korean songs aside from Big Bang. No 90s Kpop!? Wahhhhht. When I asked about soju, I was told they had sake. Um...They had 2 sake bottles one for $40 and one for $60. Are you kidding me!? Overall their liquor prices were pretty ridiculous. Mixed cocktail drink small pitchers were $40. It was just insane. Then they hand us a bunch of red Solo cups to drink from. Hahaha. Oy vey. And because you couldn't call for service, I had to go out to the bar to order our liquor. Mind you no one told us the button didn't work so we rang several times and when no one came after 10 minutes, I finally went outside of the room to order. When I finally was able to order two cocktail drinks for room, they never came. Twenty minutes passed and nothing. So I went back to the bar then was ignored --- straight ignored --- for five minutes. They even walked by me with one of our pitchers for the room finally but said nothing acknowledging me. It was so uncomfortable as I stood at the bar with three single gentleman drinking alone. When the guy came back from dropping off my pitcher, he asked if he could help me. I told him yes, we were waiting 20 minutes for drinks. He said oh yea, I just brought one to your room. I said, and the other one? He told me he just told the room they ran out of some ingredient so did we want something else. 20 minutes later he mentions this and brings us one drink. What a jankity operation. Truly terrible service from not explaining how the karaoke worked to not telling us the service buttons (and everything else in the room) didn't work to making us wait for ages for drinks to making me wait at the bar without saying hello to not telling us they can't make one of our drinks....and then they force a service charge on you for tip at the end. Ha. Pretty obvious why, I suppose. And the tip was on the room & drinks charge - not just the drinks? LOL. My best comparison of No. 18 is to the Korean karaokes (nohraebangs) I frequent and just everything was terrible at No. 18 in comparison. Prices, service and failed attempts at being high tech karaoke. The good news? This is a great place for karaoke, only. The service wasn't that great but we enjoyed the entertainment. The staff showed us how to work the machines but it wasn't very helpful. We had to figure it out in our own. The only time we saw them was when we were shown to our room. The room was a nice size for 9 ppl. The music was limited but if you know what you're looking for you'll find some of the good songs you want. The bathrooms could use some attention. For the price paid not impressed by this establishment. The employees were great but management not so much. The large room was smaller than expected and they do not currently serve food therefore they will charge a $50 charge for bringing in outside food. They also charge a 20% tip charge without telling you. The server made it seem as if she would not get tipped unless it was outside of a credit card payment so when I got my bill I saw a 20% tip on every charge. So make sure you preview your charges on the device the server will bring before signing. Had I known I was charged a tip I would not have give extra money via cash app nor had my people in my party tip. I was celebrating my 30th birthday we tried to come in (me and my sister were completely sober by the way) and immediately they rudely told us to get out and stand outside (in the freezing cold with hard snow) until they were done with the group ahead of us (ok fine, we will wait) then an altercation happened outside a man spat on us and we begged them to let us in cause we didn't feel safe. What did they do? Close the door harshly and leave us out to deal with them and they did not care at all. What kind of establishment is this? This place was the highlight of my trip to Chicago. This was mainly because my boyfriend and I had blast just singing and dancing around our karaoke room. We stayed in Chinatown during our trip. After going out for drinks on a Sunday night, we decided to stop by here before heading back to our Airbnb. It was a little after 11pm when we walked in. There were only two other people and no one in the karaoke rooms (so it was pretty dead). We went to the bar and decided to get a karaoke room. The small karaoke room was $20 for an hour. The two staff members were super friendly and helpful (one was a bartender). The other staff member (not the bartender) brought our drinks to our room and showed us how to use the karaoke machine because it was all in Chinese. My boyfriend and I had a great time. We got some beers ($5 for Blue Moon) and a lychee mojito ($11) that was soooo good and topped with a lychee. I'm obsessed with kpop and there was a great selection of kpop. I could only find two BTS songs though. Sometimes there were typos so maybe there were more BTS songs that I just couldn't find by searching "BTS." But they did have EXO, GOT7, red velvet, twice, blackpink, Monsta X, Big Bang, and more! They also had a decent selection of American music, but to my boyfriend's dismay, they didn't have The Strokes or Tame Impala. We did end up belting out My Chemical Romance, the Cranberries, and more. Not a lot of current American music though. They also had maracas so we were being obnoxious and waving those around while we sang. We had 5 minutes left, but for some reason, we couldn't add anymore songs to the queue. We decided to head out. The staff said we still had 5 more minutes and could keep going, but we were pooped. Plus, the two people at the bar were smiling at us so I'm pretty sure they could hear our terrible singing... our room was right next to the bar so I'm pretty sure our room wasn't soundproof. Came here on a whim on a Thursday night with one other person. They have a happy hour deal on weekday nights, and the smallest size room was only $20 / hour! Such a steal! We had to wait about 40 minutes for a room to open up. There is a full bar outside of the karaoke rooms and various screens playing top hits to get you pumped up and give you some inspiration for songs to sing, so we had no trouble passing the time. The room itself is modern and clean, and the song machine is new and easy to navigate. They have a decent selection of Chinese and English songs, though they didn't have some newer music (still no Thank U, Next here!!) We went slightly over the hour but they didn't charge us extra, which is always nice. They gave us a food and drink menu but didn't pressure us to order, which we appreciated as well. Paid for a room with a server however the server disappeared and we got no service. they charge an automatic 22% tip on every check but the service doesn't resonate at all. Just expect to pay ridiculous prices and go out of your way to do the servers jobs when they charge u 22% of your bill for a "tip". Great place. Intimate and inexpensive. 1 hour in a small room on a Friday or Saturday was only $35! Pretty damn good. Our server was super sweet but didn't speak much english...but that's okay. Her attentiveness and smile made up for that. Also you can get beers by the case and ordered to the room or you can order drinks at the bar and they can put it on the room tab. Just a heads up, 18% tip is included already when you have a room. Let's just say reading is fundamental and our server got a FAT tip!! But it was worth it. We had a blast! I had my birthday party here last Friday. It was SO MUCH FUN! I had booked a large party room and we all fit in there perfectly. It was really hot, but they kept turning the air down, and eventually turned the air conditioning on. The drinks were incredible. I had a kamikaze, and my brother in law got everything the light up shots. They were all so good! The karaoke itself was super fun. The machine is not in English, but they show you how to use it before you start. They were really great about our time and didn't rush us out. Overall I had a FANTASTIC experience, and I will definitely be coming back here, even if it's just me. No. 18 Karaoke gets three stars for honoring our Karaoke reservations for 9:00 p.m. They are pretty nice but very slow and inattentive. They gave us a medium size room in which the light for the room number doesn't work. It doesn't light up. Were assigned to do the karaoke in room 207 and the light didn't work. Therefore calling for service didn't come quickly enough, we found ourselves having to come out and to to the bar to ask to buy drinks. Which is silly right? As customers it was more work to get service and almost not worth it if we were trying to have a good time. I felt their Karaoke selection was limited and wasn't that great. I didn't see standard songs like " I will survive"by Gloria Gaynor and Bizarre Love Triangle by New Order. Their Korean songs are also limited too only EXO and Big Band not a lot to select. At some point in our karaoke the machine shuts down on us. We had to get management to help us understand how to use this new technology to select songs. Everything is on tablets now and it's cool but I wish they had explained it or left instructions because some people may need the guidance to new way of selecting songs and managing the volume. I believe our group had a fun time, but I wouldn't return here for Karaoke. It's $45 an hour on a Friday not including 18% gratuity. We had about 10 people in our party and total was a little over $200 it's a fun time but not worth the price. I think if I want to do karaoke again I'd try a different place. T minus 3... 2... 1... That's what being in this karaoke room felt like. It was like a ticking time bomb. I do enjoy finding things in ill placed spots, but when the clock is running and you're trying to have a good time, it becomes a damper. The 2 touch pads to control music are locked into their own place, so getting people to pick music means musical chairs. Plus malfunctioning equipment, lack of service, overpriced mediocre drinks and to top it off, it ain't cheap gives this place a EEK! me thinks not. Well, I got that out of the way. Perks are it's location right by the main Chinatown gate, they give you 3 mics (2 wireless, 1 wired), along with some instruments. Even though this place is new, the floors felt really greasy and the bar seems kinda odd, if you can call it a bar. Anyway, most karaoke places I know in Chicago aren't fancy, so I'm not expecting much, but dang... anything that could go wrong, went wrong. My friends and I booked a private karaoke room here at 8pm on a Friday. We showed up on time and checked in, didn't get shown to our room for twenty minutes. Our server then tried to give us several drinks that we did not order, including a "premium shot tower" which later showed up on our bill(we sent it back immediately because we never ordered it!). We ordered two rounds of three gin and tonics and three shots of tequila , we were charged 67 dollars for the first round and almost double for the second. When we asked to see the bill the waitress acted shifty and would not show us the bill until we demanded to see it. Although we didn't come to sing, we did see a handful of people walk in and walk right out after hearing they were booked til midnight. So definitely call ahead! We had been in the Chinatown area for dinner and we were looking for somewhere to grab a round or two then call it an early night. Aside from a good amount of karaoke rooms they have, there is a bar area and a DJ booth / dance floor to just hang around if you're waiting to grab a room or just drink and hangout. After studying their menu let's just say their cocktail pitchers are definitely bang for your buck worthy. Their shareable cocktail pitchers run you at $30 and come in a 1 liter pitcher. We decided on their concoction called "THE ELIMINATOR" & sitting right at the bar I got to witness how this was done... Step 1... Grab that new bottle of 1800 tequila, pop the top, & pour directly into pitcher (no need for measurement just count to 7 Mississippi). Step 2... Repeat Step 1 with Hennessy Step 3... With pitcher just over 3/4 full of 1800 & henny, proceed to fill with Orange Fanta to top... Oh wait, we're out of Orange Fanta... patron's choice of Sprite, Coke, Ginger Ale or Lemonade. Step 4... Present and provide some cocktail glasses. Let just say I thought I was going to die after watching our bartender pour that. Between 3 of us somehow we breezed threw that first one and went for a second. By the time we finished the second... I was more than good for the night and would've been the equivalent of Freddie Mercury had someone passed me the mic. I'll have to give this place another shot and actually come for the karaoke, but from the open doors I had walked by en route to the restrooms in the back they did look quite spacious & clean! Upstairs from Little Lamb Hot Pot, my husband and I joined friends here on a Saturday night for a private karaoke room. We had a 9 pm reservation, but I'm not quite sure how they even make them, as we didn't reserve the room for any particular length of time, so it seems like a gamble of assuming people will finish up and leave the room for others. Anyhow, the room was plenty spacious for six of us, and we were delighted to find a maraca and a tambourine in the room as well for taking it up to Rockband level. For drinks, you simply pop out to the bar and order and let them know which room you're in for the tab. The bar is kind of limited; there isn't a great variety of alcohols and they don't have the standard kind of karaoke cocktail menu I'd expect with Mai Tai or tropical drinks, etc. It's your basic beer and/or well liquor with a mixer. Lots of old school classics and new hits to choose from on the music front; all your favorites are likely there, though maybe not with the actual artist's music video - licensing fees? Humorous, in any case. We stayed for about 2 hours, at $35 an hour on Fri/Sat, and they added 18% tip automatically to our bill. Sun-Thurs is only $15 an hour for rental. We had a great time and would definitely come here again for a private karaoke party. read more

The waitresses told us their special package offers that if we order $150 worth of food, we get the room for free for 3 hours. Interesting deal, but wait, "our kitchen is closed." So...no real food, but $150 of drinks then? Then we were told the fruit platter was still available, and we proceeded to order a deluxe platter, priced at $78. About 10 mins later, waitress told us again that the kitchen was open again, but it was simply too late to cancel the fruit platter, so we have $27 left for some real food?! My friends and I went here on a recent trip to Chicago. Overall it was a fun experience - the room was comfortable and our hostess was very nice, but a few things left us a little disappointed. We arrived early but they let us into the room 15 minutes late. Our hostess assured us we would get our 15 minutes added to the end of our session, but instead a different hostess barged in and cut our session short, grabbing everyone's drinks in the middle of a song and rushing us out. The sound equipment also isn't great - it's incredibly hard to effectively search for artists and songs, and the microphones aren't very loud. We booked a room this past Saturday at 9pm for 2 hours and had terrible service. We arrived promptly and our server took our drink orders. We start singing, time goes by and we realize we don't have our drinks yet so we hit the call button to get the server to our room. No answer. Hit it again. No answer. She finally came in at 10:15pm - over halfway through our reservation - still with no drinks but just to check on us. We told her the issue and she immediately came back with a tray of drinks that had clearly been sitting out since we ordered them. All of the drinks were warm, even the mules in the copper mugs. Two of the drinks were supposed to be Hendrick's and tonic but were obviously a much cheaper gin. I calmly spoke to our server and explained that I bartend, I get it, stuff happens but we're not having a good time so what can we do about it? Can we extend our room for one more hour since we just finally got our drinks? No. Can we have the two incorrect gin drinks taken off the bill? No, they're already paid for. Fine, can we have an extra round of shots but a different flavor because we didn't care for the first ones we ordered? Sure. We got those shots and they were the same gross flavor plus they were so watered down that I took three and was still sober an hour later. Went here to celebrate a 21st. I enjoyed myself but... don't come here without PREGAMING. We rented a two hour private karaoke room for five people and I myself had not one drink before arriving. Over the course of two hours I ordered 44 USD worth of shots for myself. This included 8 shots in sets of 4. Karaoke room was fun, atmosphere was all there, minus the servers. I'm not sure why of all the places to work in the city, folks with piss poor attitudes and low vibrating energy are working in such an environment. Every time our server came in, frankly, I was uncomfortable by their presence. Definitely did not feel at all -welcome- here. Not friendly and really just poor service as someone who bartends in the industry. The cherry on the top, they were ageist because I left blowing a .04 out of curiosity because I'm 5'8 and 140 and did not at all feel tipsy, buzzed- nothing. For the amount of money you pay the experience is not worth it. We had a good time but that same good time could have been had anywhere. The drinks are ultra expensive and could not come fast enough on a busy night. The drinKs are weak and stronger drinks at the whole in the wall. But if you want to waste $600 -$1000 then this is your place. I won't come back but I will recreate this experience at home, with great good, drinks, and strobe lights.
