Great karaoke set-up and the room was clean. We arrived on time and were promptly shown to our room. We did not receive our drinks until an hour after we ordered them. Everyone's ice had melted, indicating that our waitress just forgot about us until we rang the bell to remind her. Then they refused to compensate for the lost hour of the reservation (sober karaoke is not what we came for). They gave us free (weak, sugary) shots then promptly turned off our machine at the end of our time. Overall very disappointed in the service for what we were paying for the room. The male staff are condescending and disrespectful to females: an argument of whether it is right to charge $200 because we walked in drinking milktea. Came here with a small group on a Saturday night and I have to say that I'm really impressed by this place. Having been to multiple karaoke places in the Northern suburbs and in Asia, I have to say this is the best karaoke place yet I've been in the Chicago-land area. The decor, rooms, and karaoke systems are all very updated and you almost feel like you're back in Asia. Service was also very good, which seems to be uncommon for Chinatown. *Please read* Out dated and old fashioned- the karaoke machine was broken and almost non-functioning. Our waitress cut our room time short by 10 minutes. Additionally, our room was missing the door and the wallpaper was peeling. Worst of all, they added extra charges to our tab. When we asked them to remove the charges, the manager acted clueless. We found No 18 our first night and it was what were looking for and more. Came for my birthday excited to sing some karaoke! It went pretty downhill very quickly. Door guy gave me a pat down, including touching my testicles. Very weird but okay, guess theyre just being safe. Got into the room and there were no lights on at all and it was super weird. Manager came and said they werent working. I told them if they arent working we arent staying and magically he got them to work. Karaoke machine was fine, lots in Chinese but nbd. Then came the weird stuff. They turned the heat up full blast. Got the manager again and he said the heat wasnt on, asked him to step in the room and when the hot air hit him it was hard to deny. You could smell the heater. He fixed it and said a patron did it, def seemed like a lie. We ordered these shot trees of 24 shots, one came cloudy, smelled it and it was not tequila it was dirty water, wtf. It honestly seemed like they didnt want us there. The ONLY reason it gets 3 stars is the karaoke was fun and our server was very sweet. She was new and did her best to help. I had a much better experience this time around and there is still room for improvement. The booking was easy to maneuver since it was online. There were no issues whatsoever with booking and getting access to our room was great. The room cleanliness could have improved with wiping down the microphones, touch screen and seats. We were seating after another group left and all they did was clean up their cups and wipe the table...Service was efficient but could be improved with room paying customers. If I book a room for a certain amount of time, I do not want to be bombarded with closing procedures every 5 minutes for the last 15 minutes of my booking, I'm going to use the time that I pay for and promptly leave after my booking. If you need time to clean the room for your next group of guests, you as a business should provide a grace period of 5 to 10 minutes where your staff if able to get things situated for next group, not rushing a group out before their booking has ended. The extra reminders were unnecessary from waiter, if you want returning happy customers. I want to leave happy not annoyed and frustrated. read more

First time ever coming here and had really high hopes but a little disappointed when we came in no one spoke to us for a good five minutes and had to ask for our own menus even though it was Wednesday and no one was in here. What was even more irritating is that a tip is automatically added to my total even when you select the no tip option and when I brought it to the bartender attention she basically just shrugged it off and kept on not offering the money back so I could tip the way I wanted. I'd never been to a karaoke bar with private rooms like this before, but I had a blast. I loved the set up of private rooms and then a bar right outside to get drinks. Despite lots of people there on a Sat night I was able to get served pretty quick. Nothing too crazy on the menu drink wise but whatever, you're going there for the songs, as long as they're not super expensive that's all I care about. The library was missing a few songs that I usually love to sing, like Total Eclipse of the Heart, but oh well, I still found more to sing, as did everyone else. The prices are very deceiving for a single cocktail. They may look reasonable on the menu, but that's before the tips that they add to your bill without your knowledge. They automatically added 18% gratuity to my total before I got my receipt. They added an additional tip to my bill which I did not authorize and was not made aware of until I got a receipt from Square. Facts up front.12 people, medium room, we walked in no reservation on a Saturday night, had eaten dinner so we did not order food, ordered drinks at the bar and to our room. For our group size (12 people) a Medium room worked, but any more and it'd probably be better to spring for the large, just for comfort's sake. We came tipsy and intent on drinking more, the staff pointed out a deal on their menu, if you reach a certain dollar amount on drinks, you get the room for 3 hours and the drinks. We had NO problem clearing that limit with 12 people, and received FAR more than our money's worth, both in drinks and in time in our own private room. I definitely felt as though I got bang for my buck. I've spent far more on crappy pizza and beers, when it could have been spent on pitchers, beer buckets, and Karaoke room time, all rolled into one. Staff was great, attentive, completely used to dealing with a fish-out-of-water type such as myself. This includes the bar staff and the wait staff for the rooms. The only reason this isn't 5 stars (and I wish I could do .5 stars because it's not really a complaint), is because the song select tablet is only partially in English. The staff will help point you in the right direction, and help get you started, but the search feature is wonky to an English speaker, and doesn't react the way you'd expect. If you're searching for something in English, and it doesn't pop up, that does NOT mean that they don't have the song, you just have to search differently. I think anyone with a bit of critical thinking could figure it our (even myself and my friends, after many a cocktail, figured it out), but it does make taking direct requests from your intoxicated friends a tad challenging. I called about 2 weeks in advance to book the largest room for my birthday party. I had never been to a private room karaoke bar in Chicago before, but after reading the yelp reviews, No. 18 sounded pretty promising. We came here at 11:30pm on a Saturday night, and entry was fairly easy for me and my ~30 guests (they had my name at the door). What they didn't mention was that this place turns into a crazy nightclub on the weekends? Filled with pretty sketchy clientele...?? To be honest, had I known this place was going to be packed with all sorts of people, I probably would not have hosted my birthday here. The song selection was pretty limited/random, but we made do. The service was pretty slow, and friends had to actually go up to the bar themselves to get our bottle of vodka that we ordered (instead of being served in the room...). I even had to venture out amongst the unruly crowd to close the bill and get my CC, which took forever. And I paid ~$160 for little over an hour of karaoke, which wasn't bad, but I definitely expected a little more hospitality at that price. All in all, probably won't come back, but I can't say I didn't have fun! read more

If you have never experienced private room karaoke, this would be a good starting place to go! My first time doing private room karaoke was in NY on one of my trips back home. The place in NY was excellent and really made an impression on me. So when I heard Chicago had them, I got really excited. 4 stars because the decor isn't the best and the song selection is not that vast but it does offer a great time. I brought my wife and some friends here to celebrate my wife's 30th. It was kind of hard to find at first because the sign is placed overs door that isn't open. I called and the staff was really helpful in directing us. Overall, the staff was helpful throughout the night (although we didn't ask for much). The reservation was for 8 on but of course my friends were late so we didn't start until about 8:30. Luckily the staff was very understanding and being that there was not a reservation for after us in our room, they did start the timer on our clock until after we all got there and in the room. They explained to us how the system worked and let us have at it. The prices were decent with a small room (up to 6) for $30/hr, medium room (up to 10) for $45/hr and a large room (up to 15 or 20 can't remember) for $60/hr. Split that between all your friends and it's a great cheap time. For parties of 6 or more they do add gratuity to your bill (18%). I will try some other private room spots to see how they compare but I would not mind coming back here. read more

No one comes to bother you to order drinks - there's no minimum, just sing to your heart's content There is a bar that you can order drinks from and there is a restaurant downstairs as well if you want some more food (or bubble tea)! I came here to celebrate my birthday earlier this month and had a great time-- but despite a great evening, I feel as if there were a lot of things that did not go smoothly. PROS: nicer set up than the Karaoke places on Western, CLEAN (which says a lot, it's in Chinatown) CONS: 1) Very confusing--- A) The entrance was closed-- had to go into a side door through a restaurant to get inside (but there were no clear signs explaining where to go, but we figured it out) B) they didn't explain how to work the karaoke machine C) my friends were billed for drinks they did not order (which if severely intoxicated, you wouldn't be able to spot)-- I couldn't tell if it was an honest mistake or if they were taking advantage of a drunken situation. 2) SLOW SERVICE. Snazzily designed venue and decent collection of English-language songs, but I was put off with the under-the-table attitude of some of the staff. A group of us (about 9 people) came in without a reservation around 8 pm and asked to sit in the main bar area to karaoke after learning that the private rooms would not be available until 11 pm. After being told we could freely sit and sing by the bar by one staff member, another one then told us the minimum cost would be $100 in cash for our group (mind you, they take credit card) and that all of us would have to buy drinks. Eventually we were able to bring it down to a more reasonable $30, thanks to my friends who could speak fluent Chinese. However, I still don't think we should've had to pay this much for using the main bar space. We also were first told we could stay for as long as we wanted, but after an hour, they told us our time was up. Overall, I had a great group of friends, and despite what happened, the staff were quite polite. Even so, I wasn't impressed by the drinks, and I didn't appreciate how inconsistent the staff were about their services and the one staff member's attempt to rip us off. read more

At first thinking, one hour was plenty, we were literally carrying the mike and singing out the door when our two hours was up. We brought the kids, they had a blast.
