We stopped by here for lunch after the beach. BIG MISTAKE. This place is super fancy and 5 star. We felt like beach bums and out of place. However, it was a nice lunch. Just very expensive. I could tell the wait staff was a little annoyed we only ordered ice tea and not a $500 bottle of wine. Just know this is a super fancy place and dress up!!!!

Beautiful atmosphere with fun gimmicks, but my god the food here is terrible. I'll start off with the good -- the decor is beautiful and they have fun additions like sparklers with celebratory desserts. The service here is also great, but the food is awful. I ordered the lobster tacos and they looked good enough, but were disgusting. One bite and I was done. I almost spit it out because of how awful it was. I couldn't tell if it was the cream or cheese, but something about it tasted rancid, and it smelled really bad. I could taste the gross smell of it and could not eat more than one bite. My cousin tried it after I told her I didn't like it, and she, too, thought it was horrible. My other cousin said that it reeked and she could smell it from across the table. As for my mom, she ordered some type of beef and about half of it was inedible because it was just fat. She was unhappy with her dish, too. I'd say this may be a safe place for dessert and the ambience, but do not have high expectations for the food.

This place is at the entrance to a big shopping center and it's hands down comfortable. Comfy booths, air conditioning is a plus in the pacific coast heat. Mariachis playing in the background, perfect accompaniment to my Chile relleno. The Chile was perfect. I told them about my gluten drama and they were very accommodating. For drinks I had a Paloma. I really liked their version. It's what Texans call ranch water which by the way reminds me of horses drinking from the trough. It's a tall glass with ice, tequila, sparkling water, and an assortment of muddled citrus. It really hit the spot it's refreshing and no sugar. We were greeted by an assortment of salsas, dips and tostadas. Perfect I can munch. One of them was calabaza and the other was a beanie style delicious dip. For starter we had the bone marrow. Wow! This was amazingly buttery fatty collagen good. It was served with homemade tostadas and all these amazing creamy salsas. When ever I see a Chile relleno I must inquire and if it's gluten-free I order it. It's a complex dish originally made to commemorate the signing of the treaty of Cordova. Which granted Mexico independence from Spain. We'll this place nailed it!! All in all this place is a must when visiting Vallarta.

Great atmosphere and professional service are great reasons to come here. The food is perfectly acceptable for the premium you are paying. Our table was surprised by everything being lukewarm--soup almost room temperature and enchiladas without melted cheese and just barely warm inside. Not sure if we came on an off night or that is how they like it. Putting that aside, the flavors were OK. Black beans and rice are optional sides. I would not hesitate in returning for cocktails and appetizers.

Best restaurant in PV, much better than Sonora Grill, in every aspect: food, drinks, dessert, service, ambiance, attention to detail, local dishes, they have it all. A must try! Louis was our server, and he is awesome Look at the pictures.

This place was amazing! Truly an immersive dining experience where the food is authentic and the service is top notch! Porfirio's gave me a wonderful experience for my birthday! The shots were flowing and the music was a vibe! I'll definitely visit again whenever in Tulum!

An excellent dining venue that has a nice upscale and classy ambience. Great for an intimate date or friend's night out. The food quality is exceptional and we were especially impressed by the quality and flavor of their steak. Also great is the pricing is very reasonable.

The vibes were nice but the food wasn't amazing to me. I had calamari and salmon with corn. The calamari was extremely salty and breaded. The salmon was too chewy like they cooked a little too long and the corn was pretty good. I'm giving it 4 stars because the ambience and presentation was really nice, and I'm sure there other food is better. I'd go back to try other things.

Este restaurant es de lo mejor desde el servicio y el buen trato de los empleados. Loved everything about it the aesthetic vibes, the music, food is delicious . The waiter wish I had gotten his name was exceptional. We left him a great tip. We went to celebrate our cousins birthdays and will definitely go again

We came here for a Bachelorette Party and had a group of 11 people. We were greeted with water with a platter of fresh citrus, mint, basil and cucumbers to add to your glass to make spa water. The menu is expansive with many options, including vegan options. We started with various items for appetizers like the guacamole, bone marrow, tortilla soup, and octopus. Everything was delicious. And they serve many steaks on fire! We also had a most people order steak or seafood. I ordered the roasted ny sirloin in the bone marrow sauce which was out of this world delicious. The steak was tender and the sauce was rich and decadent. Plus it came on top of mashed potatoes which were the perfect way to round out the meal. I also ordered esquite and it was light, flavorful and fresh. The wine list had enough options and only offered mexican wines which was a nice way to try something the new. The cocktails were beautiful and tasty, but seemed to have lighter pours. I ordered two tequila cocktails and didn't feel tipsy at all. We ended with churros and tres leches cake. Both were sweet, tasty, and good portions.

While significantly more expensive than most food you'll find in Mexico, this spot is guaranteed to deliver authentic and delicious Mexican food. Our table started off with a nice Malbec and some tortilla soups for all. Elegant presentation and excellent flavor. A torta, which is a sandwich and the aguachile steak was ordered for a group of four. The torta was very good, but overall the aguachile steak took the prize for entrees of the night. It was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The steak was cut and aguachile sauce was flamed at the table. Last up for dessert we ordered a chocolate cake and the churros. Both desserts were very good. I highly recommend all dishes we ordered. My absolute favorite food of the night was the aguachile steak.

Undoubtedly Puerto Vallartas best restaurant. We had the the ribeye with grilled vegetables, the tuna appetizer and the baked potatoes. All to die for. Ask for Alexis to serve you. Great waiter and offers good recommendations.

By far one of the BEST restaurants I've been to. From the taste of the food to the service. Our server Abel went above and beyond to ensure the best possible experience. From constantly refilling our waters, bringing out extra tostadas and tortillas without us having to ask. It truly made our meals such a GREAT EFFORTLESS experience. We came as a group of 6 and had the opportunity to try a bunch of different dishes. The bone marrow with escamoles, barbacoa, and key lime pie were my favorites. Btw Mariachi starts at 930 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Just know they only play a couple songs before taking a break. I believe they have 4 short performances. CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ENOUGH!!! DEFINITELY A MUST TRY!!

While the wait can be a bit unpredictable, it's usually not too long, especially during the summer. However, if you visit in the winter, it can take a while. The food here is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. The only thing that confuses me is the fruit water of the day. The cups are incredibly small, and for 30 pesos, I expected more. I've noticed that some tables have their water refilled, while others have been changed. I'm not sure if this is a policy or just a coincidence. The service is okay, but nothing extraordinary. They have a limited number of tables and don't have air conditioning, so it can get quite hot inside and outside. However, you're here to eat and go, so don't expect a sit-down experience. One important thing to note is that they only accept cash. So, make sure to bring some pesos with you.

There are places that simply serve food--and then there are places that become part of your story…read more Pepe's Tacos is exactly that for me. Having come here since I was 10 years old, this iconic taquería isn't just a local favorite--it's a timeless institution that continues to define what truly exceptional tacos should be. Since 1987, Pepe's has built a reputation that extends far beyond Puerto Vallarta, and one visit is all it takes to understand why. The star of the show--their legendary tacos al pastor--is nothing short of extraordinary. The pork is expertly marinated and cooked to perfection, resulting in meat that is incredibly juicy, tender, and bursting with deep, savory flavor. Each slice is carved with precision and layered onto warm tortillas, creating a perfect foundation for what comes next. What truly elevates these tacos is the balance of toppings. The sweetness of the pineapple and the sharpness of the fresh onions cut through the richness of the meat beautifully, enhancing every bite with contrast and complexity. It's a masterclass in simplicity done right--every ingredient playing its role to perfection. Beyond the food, the experience itself is just as memorable. The service is impressively fast and efficient, especially considering how popular this spot is, and there's an undeniable energy in the air that makes it feel alive at all hours. It's the kind of place you can count on for a late-night bite, where the atmosphere is casual, vibrant, and always welcoming. Pepe's Tacos isn't about reinvention or trend--it's about consistency, tradition, and delivering excellence time and time again. Decades later, it still holds its place as one of the best taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, and for good reason. Some things never change--and when they're this good, they absolutely shouldn't.

Out front, the trompo spins over charcoal fire, hand turned, on display to the street. The man at the blade is a performer, part craftsman, part showman. He hones his knife between razor thin shavings of al pastor, then in a reflexive flourish nips the pineapple crowning the meat, sending a sliver flying only to catch it with a tortilla. It is theater, but it is also instinct. Inside, the crowd looks like the United Nations. A tour group from India next to a Dutch family with half a dozen kids in tow, the Canadians eye the Americans with deserved suspicion, and a few locals whose plates are piled high while tourists settle for modest portions. It is the natural order of things, and nobody complains. The charcoal scent in the meat makes clear this is al pastor's intended preparation. I have never had the pleasure of eating from a coal fired trompo before, and it is instantly apparent that this is the way it was meant to be. Someday, somehow, I will rig one of these up, because I need this in my life. Pepe's is not just a taco shop. It is a master class in tradition, theater, and flavor, with a dining room that feels like the world gathered around one spit.

The ribeye had so much fat that we had to pick through it just to eat it. The al pastor was very average - I've had much better at plenty of other taco spots. The biggest disappointment was the chorizo. It wasn't traditional chorizo at all; it looked and tasted more like chopped-up hot dogs. We barely touched it because it wasn't what we ordered expecting, and it just wasn't good. The presentation also wasn't appealing. The meat was simply piled on top of two tortillas, making everything messy and difficult to eat. They were also pretty stingy with the grilled jalapeños. The salsas didn't do the food any favors either. None of them really stood out, and the green guacamole salsa actually tasted like it had gone bad, so we stopped eating it. Service was attentive, but almost too attentive. Staff kept coming by every few minutes to ask if we were finished or if we needed anything. While I appreciate good service, it made us feel like we were being rushed through our meal instead of being able to enjoy it at our own pace. Overall, I don't understand the high ratings based on our experience. With so many amazing taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, this one didn't come close to meeting the hype. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
