I was reluctant to visit this location. Then became tired one day of bagged bagels that taste nothing like fresh, authentic bagels. So - I took a chance recently and was pleasantly surprised. Little did they know - I was watching and quickly looked around. Then placed my order and was treated with kindness and efficiency. I returned home and toasted the best bagel I'd eaten in years, topped with organic almond butter. I returned this morning. Again, service was excellent. This time, however, I was badly distracted, with too many problems weighing too heavily. I'm normally cautious about security, but discovered when I returned home that my mini wallet was missing. Was furious with myself and started crying, searching my waste pack, pockets, and car. Instantly, I worried sick about my driver's license, credit cards, and other things. I knew I'd have to take immediate action, cancelling cards and other nuisances. I'm not wealthy, but a lost wallet is a nightmare for anyone. The manager answered my frantic call. He said they had my wallet. I drove back to Noah's, counting my lucky stars and especially grateful for the good people involved in the safe return of my wallet. Everything was still there. Sadly, we can no longer assume that people will be honest and decent. We all know stories about misdeeds. Today - I was reminded that goodness and grace are alive and well. Letter I wrote to corporate: I have been a big fan of Noah's Bagels for quite sometime, within the last 5 years I have been a regular at this location but have slowly watched the quality and service decline. I'm very easy going and not one to complain, but today was the last straw. I stopped going to this location in January because of issues like the staff using the same knife to spread the onion cream cheese. When I order my almond shmear and bite into it, expecting sweet, and it tastes like onion it ruins my appetite and leaves me disappointed. At times, in the past, although not busy, the employees were unreasonably slow in filling a 2 bagel order. No one in line or in store. Just me. This is besides the point as I realize staffing issues may affect speed times. However today I decided to give them another shot and placed a mobile order choosing two spinach bagels with salmon shmear. I arrive home and discover they are incorrectly cheesy bacon bagels. Not what I wanted, and had I been Muslim, and bit into it, I would have now violated my religion. Luckily I'm not, but the point is, we want to continue enjoying Noah's bagels, but because of bad service and poor management we just can't continue to support a business that just doesn't care about its customers. Everyone works hard for their money, and has options where to spend that money. Why should people choose Noah's if it's just not good? I just googled the yelp reviews and the store has 2/5 stars. about once a month I drive from Belmont to San Mateo to pick up fresh bagels for my children to enjoy. Today I went to pick up my usual dozen, come home, and while cutting them realize that five out of the dozen bagels are stale, at least a day old. There is a very distinct difference in the softness and texture between stale and fresh. I can't believe that people would palm off stale product in a bakery - I wouldn't even want it at a discount. I tried to call them back, but there is no voicemail. Shame on you, Noah's bagels! Probably the worst location for customer service. You get yelled at when you try to do an order. The guy screwed up my order and had the gall to yell at me. Then he forgot the bagels in my order luckily I checked it. No matter how much I crave bagels I won't be coming back to this location. He also screamed at another customer when I was walking in. My hair stylist even had issues when she comes. No one I've talked to has had a positive experience here. The customer service is non existent and orders are slow and probably they will screw it up. Oh yeah and he uncharged me. I asked for one egg and he charged me for two. I asked for garden vegetable cream cheese and got plain.
