Lunched here today after many years. The menu was much changed since the last time I was here. Setting is very casual with lots of tvs going but good food (seemingly bottomless too: I couldn't finish my plate!) Best Bar and Restaurant in Geneva! Yes, that may be a bold claim, but here's why... Nobel House has a consistent theme of providing upscale southern food in a place that has a rustic yet polished environment. It's a great spot to grab a beer and watch your favorite sports game or go out to dinner with friends. My most recent visit was a mid-day lunch with a friend. We both ordered the Nashville chicken. The chicken and crust on it, were fantastic! I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries, which had the perfect level of saltiness to them. And last but not least, I thought everything was reasonably priced. Sometimes I feel like a restaurant offers a good environment and experience and then assumes its okay to charge absurd prices for common menu items. But not here! We celebrated my brother's 21st birthday here and had a great time! They made some fun "first" shots for him and the service was great! We had the burnt ends and onion rings as appetizers. The burnt ends are served with homemade chips with lots of "juice" to dip the meat in, very flavorful. The onion rings were also very good, flaky with the perfect crispness to them, served with a delicious sauce too! I had the Mac and cheese, and it had the panko crumbs on top (which, in my opinion, is the best when it comes to Mac and cheese). I also had the red sangria, and it was really good! My dad is hard to please, but even he said "why don't we come here more often?" They recently renovated the place, so it's a lot bigger now and can accommodate more parties. They have a mix of high tops and lower tables, with booths along the wall. The bar was also pretty packed for a Wednesday. Loved our experience at Nobel House- my one thing that really keeps it from being a full five stars is that the restaurant was incredibly loud. We basically had to shout at one another, and our waitress had to shout to be heard as well- and so did all of the other patrons- seemed a bit silly. Now, onto everything I loved. The entire rest of our experience was five stars :) Our waitress was very friendly, and arrived quickly when we got there. My husband enjoyed a beer from the local Penrose brewery, and I tried two delicious cocktails. The first was their take on a cosmo which involved pop rocks (delicious and dangerous), and I also tried my first mojito (blueberry) which was wonderful and refreshing. We started our meal with the poutine, which was lovely- not sure what the cheese was but it was perfect with the appetizer, we couldn't finish it- but enjoyed it nonetheless. For entrees, my husband had a burger, and I had the meat with two sides plate. Both of us had the adult mac and cheese as a side and I absolutely loved it- ate every single bite. I like that the brisket came with multiple sauces- all delicious. I also enjoyed that you can see right into the kitchen- love the open atmosphere- huge bar with tons of beer on tap. First I'll start that we were a group of 8. We were immediately seated and received water and menus. It was another 20 min. before our waitress returned to take drink and appetizer order. We decided to just have drinks and it took another 20 minutes to receive drinks. It was now 30 minutes later and we had just finished our drinks and our dinner order still had not been taken. We asked the waitress a few times that we were ready to order and told I'll be with you in a minute.... her "minute" translated to 15 additional minutes. The place was busy but nobody was waiting for tables. Now, onto the food... Most orders were for burgers/fries, or sandwiches/fries. All orders of fries were served hard dark crusted ones. Obviously, overcooked or the oil hadn't been changed with fresh oil for quite sometime. The consensus of members of the party was the food was just okay. Some over cooked/some under cooked to preferences. I will speak specifically to my "Rachel Ruben". I love pastrami on marbled rye, but what I received was two 1 1/2" thick pieces of bread and a plethora amount of sauerkraut. I picked apart my sandwich to try to find the pastrami meat. I located a sliver of a piece (the size of how prosciutto is cut on only half of my sandwich. Because of the amount of sauerkraut that had soaked completely through the bottom bread, I was required to have take the tops of the sandwich, scratch at the one piece of pastrami putting it between the top two pieces of bread to make my sandwich even palatable. Now, I will also share this was not a isolated incident. I have been to Nobel House location in Glen Ellyn on two other occasions. I am sorry to say that not the same but similar food preparations occurred. I truly tried to be detailed for other readers to be informed before going to Noble House and what might to expect. Maybe if more patrons take the time to review we will receive what we order, expect the finished product to be and not just what the chef, manager decides to serve us. They smoke their own meats! Used to love the lamb burger they had here but they dropped it from the menu. But try the smoked brisket or their sausages, fantastic. Had the mac and cheese side, it was tasty but didn't notice it was not baked so no crust on top. Just macaroni with cheese sauce, nothing special. I would suggest the sweet potato fries instead as a side, these are great. Also had the charred broccoli, but not fond of charred vegetables so asked for no char. They will make it for you however you like if you ask them. I think they steamed my order, it was just right. Had the Bourbon Mule, very good. It's very cold right now with a negative wind chill and I noticed sitting across from the door that every time it opens you get a cold draft, be sure to avoid that spot unless you're dressed warm. While the food is still really good here, the Glen Ellyn location is so much more polished and updated. This spot in Geneva is a lot more like a sports bar with good food. It's not well-lit and the floors are a little sticky and the booth cushions are fairly worn down. There were groups of guys cheering at the sports games on the tvs. Not as classy or romantic as the Glen Ellyn location at all. But, the food is consistently delicious between both locations, as well as the service. I was really thankful for that, as I had loved the menu items I had in Glen Ellyn. One of my favorite place to eat in the Geneva area. While it is pretty pricey for what it is(BBQ, American) I keep coming back. They have possibly my favorite wings I've had, especially with their honey garlic sauce; large, tender, meaty. They were pretty busy around 12:45pm when we arrived, but the crowd thinned out a little by the time we left. There was no wait and the server was so friendly and helpful. Right away, we realized this would be a great spot for date night with the husbands. The craft beer selection looked good and it's totally comfortable in here. We had high hopes for the food. We started with a "try" portion of the When Pigs Fly Pork Wings. Although good, I probably wouldn't order them again. The portion was just right to get a taste, but a touch too salty for my liking. The fresh, crisp carrots and celery that arrived on the same plate were helpful in toning that down for me. We had a really hard time choosing our entrees. There are so many things on this menu that I want to try. My sister was really stuck on the turkey pastrami and I was thinking crab cakes, pulled bacon, brisket and southern fried chicken sounded good. Well since we couldn't seem to choose and everything was catching our eye, we decided to try the Nobel Prize Platter that came with a bit of everything from ribs to turkey pastrami to brisket to pulled pork and more. We decided to add a side of onion rings because the only non-meat item on the platter that was mentioned was a jalapeño cornbread situation. Our platter was delivered by someone of authority - the chef, an owner, a manager - I don't know who, but he served the food and quickly described everything as someone who was proud of what he had just set down. So let me tell you about this platter...I think it's enough for four or five people maybe with a couple sides added. There were two very different BBQ sauces included. The vinegar based option was a nice surprise. There were four mini jalapeño cornbread muffins. I love my carbs, but the smoked meats way outshined the carbs in the corner. The turkey pastrami was fan-flipping-tastic!!! I ate it plain. I ate it dipped in the tangy BBQ sauce. I ate it dipped in the vinegar BBQ sauce. And I just ate a bite cold. It's truly that good. The pit ham was sliced so thin and had what I thought was the right amount of smoke to it. These were the my two favorites on the platter. The onion rings came with a spicy dipping sauce and some nice ranch that we requested. These were perfectly crisp and everything was seasoned well. We drank water. I know it's boring, but it wasn't really a cocktail kind of afternoon. Our server kept those glasses full like it was her job...well, I guess it is, but she was totally on it! She checked on us multiple times without being annoying and I never once felt deserted. And then when we asked for boxes because we barely made a dent, she offered to do it for us and split everything up so we each took some of everything home. I watched her at a nearby table use two forks to split it all up and loaded up the boxes. She was right on top of it and just added to my joy today. I was impressed by the extra effort. We saw everyone from a couple mommies with their little guys to the awesome 90's throwback wannabes to cute couples to a pair of sisters enjoying their time here. We've now visited both locations, Glen Ellyn being the other. Both were very enjoyable to say the least, so it's nice to know there's consistency. Loved the feel of dining experience in a slightly rustic, comfortable, and homey restaurant. Our waitress tended to us well, checking in with us every so often. My meal was delicious! I had a lobster roll with a side of sweet potato fries. What really pulled it all together was the hollandaise sauce which provided some creaminess and tang. If I had to recommend an entree for people to try during their first stop, go for the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Idk who created the recipe but give that person a raise! We usually stop in for apps and beers. The craft beer selection is fantastic! This visit we had smoked wings. Hands down best wings I've had in a couple years. The BBQ rub were great, the rub is slightly sweeter. We both agreed the buffalo-and-slow were awesome. Smokey, spicy, and delicious. The roasted cauliflower app is rather big and is roasted with lots of garlic and onions, and topped with olives and tomatoes. Really good. I met here for lunch. We sat down at a high top table. Table was wobbly. Waitress was very nice. Ordered a few beers. I was disappointed they did not have any domestics on draft and no Two Brothers beers in the place. Menu is not available anywhere on Yelp or on line so I took a few pics for you. A little pricey but had a good variety. I Ordered a cheeseburger and chili. Chili was good. Not spicy at all. Nice flavor. Cheeseburger was a double patty with onions and cheese again very good. I ordered with fries. It came out with literally 11 fries. I counted them. I thought it was a joke. The server asked of we needed anything else and I said how about a decent portion of fries. She did come back with more but if this is their normal portion it was a joke. Others in my party had bloody Mary's and they looked good. Everyone liked the food except the onion rings. It was a very poor attempt to make from scratch onion rings. Breading was falling off and crumbling. These need some work. Overall a good experience. If the fries were a decent portion and they offered regular beers on tap or at least have two brothers it would have been better. Lunch for 4 was around $120 read more

Well, if mediocrity counts for something, this place is great. But, in a town where there are lots of great choices, so so is just that. The actual setup is poor, tables that are wobbly and feel like you are right in the middle of an aisle. Service was adequate, nothing great or worth noting positively. I had the steak sandwich, and it really was pretty good, but very hard to eat on the pretzel roll. The "house made chips" were NOT house made in my opinion, out of a bag I think. Very over seasoned, and Barbeque flavored. When I mentioned that to the waitress, she said they are about to redo the menu and the new menu will say they are Barbeque. HUH???? So you wouldn't mention that when I ordered it??? She didn't even offer to bring another side. I ate two of them. Husband had the crab cake club. Too much breading, not much crab, and here's a clue. When you serve something soft like that, do not use ciabatta bread that's hard and dry, because when you bite it, everything sqooshes out and all you get is stale bread. Was simply overly greasy and I'm the type to always order "fatty" briskets. The pork belly that they settled on for their sandwich was cut bacon style...and other than that, did not mesh with the burger as well as I had hoped (First time letdown regarding pork belly as a topping for a burger). The jalapenos (grilled) used were lacking flavors. The cheese spread helped push this burger over the edge (negative). However, we do plan to visit again to try some of the other dishes.
