Well, if mediocrity counts for something, this place is great. But, in a town where there are lots of great choices, so so is just that. The actual setup is poor, tables that are wobbly and feel like you are right in the middle of an aisle. Service was adequate, nothing great or worth noting positively. I had the steak sandwich, and it really was pretty good, but very hard to eat on the pretzel roll. The "house made chips" were NOT house made in my opinion, out of a bag I think. Very over seasoned, and Barbeque flavored. When I mentioned that to the waitress, she said they are about to redo the menu and the new menu will say they are Barbeque. HUH???? So you wouldn't mention that when I ordered it??? She didn't even offer to bring another side. I ate two of them. Husband had the crab cake club. Too much breading, not much crab, and here's a clue. When you serve something soft like that, do not use ciabatta bread that's hard and dry, because when you bite it, everything sqooshes out and all you get is stale bread. V My work group used to go here regularly a few years ago and the food and service was top notch but they have let things go... the meats are dry and lack in true flavor, just smoke taste now. Cool, no-frills spot in Geneva for brunch. No waiting on a Sunday morning shortly after 10. The inside is simple, a little on the smaller side but ideal for a simple brunch. Brunch options included a variety of both sweet and savory options. I opted to get the best of both worlds and ordered the chicken & waffles while my buddy ordered the classic eggs benedict. We were very hungry and also split an order of the ugly doughnuts and bacon. The food was all super tasty and definitely better than typical breakfast/diner food, which is often underwhelming to me. The chicken and waffles were nicely sweet and contrasted with saltiness, but not too much. Waffles were fluffy inside and crisp outside, and the dish came with these also tasty potato cubes. The bacon was good too, just the right balance of crispiness and softness. The doughnuts were unique as well, they came with two "sauces," one was a berry compote type sauce and the other tasted like a lemon-y frosting. These were super unique and we really liked them. Price for the chicken and waffles was average at $14, the Benedict, donuts and coffee seemed like a bargain at $11, $8 and $2.50, respectively. Service was good, maybe a little slow at the end but the place started to fill up and we weren't in a hurry or anything. Love this place! Phenomenal food and overall selection. Burgers are amazing, tots are amazing, for god sakes even the broccoli is amazing! No joke. My young son was trying to see the cooks in the open kitchen and the head chef noticed and waved him to come back so he could get a better look. Passed the restaurant last week. Told partner they were eating indoors, he asked if I was sure. I was pretty sure. Well today, we order our takeout meal and there were at least three tables with guests. Customers are sitting at tables dining INDOORS. This is how COVID continues to spread in our community. We stopped in after church on a Sunday. The staff was all super friendly and went above and beyond. The kids loved their kid's menu selections. Tried an order via carry out. I was a bit disappointed as they were out of ribs, and was really looking forward to them. Ordered the Alabama Chicken, which was amazing! The sauce was exactly what I wanted. We also tried the two & two. Had the pulled pork and smoked turkey. The pork was good, but the turkey was a bit underwhelming. It reminded me of slightly elevated lunch meat. We weren't offered or given any sauces with the meat, so had to improvise at home. For the sides we tried the delicious baked beans, and the cole slaw and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese wasn't very flavorful, and the Cole slaw was just okay. read more

I've been to Nobel House several times but this is my first review. I used to enjoy the food but something has changed. My husband and I were there on Friday night after work. The noise level was unbearable. We were initially seated at a table by the door but my husband asked if we could be moved. Listening to loud drunk people isn't the way we wanted to spend our evening. We both ordered the Nashville hot chicken and were very disappointed in the flavor, as it was lacking any heat or spice. It was greasy, fried chicken on top of a piece of bread. The pickles were too sour. I've eaten a lot of hot chicken in the south and this was definitely not close to Nashville hot chicken. I would have told our server but she was non-existent once our food was ordered. The only reason this is worth two stars is the sweet potato fries. Between the loud music from the 70s and 80s, drunk people at the bar and mediocre food, I wonder why anyone would bring their kids there. It's not what I would call family friendly. read more

I first tried their food at Festival of the Vine when I sampled the burnt ends. They were so flavorful that I knew I was going to eat here. I asked for a sample of a Penrose beer and our server promptly delivered it, which is a definite plus. I ordered the Big Texas burger, a 1/2 pounder with smoked brisket, cheese, onion straws, mushrooms, and a side of BBQ sauce. Oh my goodness, this was amazing. Juicy burger that was just a fun mess to pick up! The brisket had just a little hickory smoke flavor and was very moist. The onions were crispy and the sauce was very rich. I think the only thing I'd do is add a few jalapenos for some heat. The fries were marvelous, fresh cut with a sprinkling of seasoning and Parmesan cheese. The beans were pretty good, they definitely had some BBQ sauce, so they were a bit sweet for my taste. I also had a side salad and they make all their own dressings. The citrus vinaigrette was very tangy and they used a nice spring mix, so for $3, it was a good quality salad. Prices are pretty reasonable. A little more of a dessert selection would help instead of just a crème brulee. Certainly worth returning. read more

My wife and I tried to go to Nobel House yesterday since we heard so many good things about the place. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance. Since my wife has gluten issues, we have to find places that have options and while the Nobel House menu mentions Gluten Free option, when we asked our server we were basically shown that my wife could get a salad or a burger patty sitting on a plate. Luckily, we were able to go to Stockholm's across the street where we found options to the point we weren't settling. Maybe if Nobel House could buy GF buns we would happily go back and be able to give a better review, but until then, if you don't have any food issues go for it, but if not, I would pass. read more

My husband and I went here on New Years Eve. We were there for an early dinner, so that we could get home before all the drunks were out on the road! Since we were early, we got a table right away. It filled up very fast after we were seated. WHY 4 STARS?: The ONLY reason my review isn't a full 5 stars is due to the slippery floors. Since there is snow outside, my boots tracked in a little water. Water droplets on this floor become oil slick worthy. I almost fell, just trying to get up from my seat. When this floor gets wet, it feels as if you rubbed olive oil on your feet and hopped in the shower. Not a good combo. I kept thinking a previous diner must have spilled olive oil - but nope, it was H20. My waitress was nice enough to get a cloth napkin and placed it under my feet for me to help me get some traction. She said the floors are abnormally slippery and apologized. And the other thing was that our waitress, although super sweet and friendly, took forever to take our order. My husband said it didn't matter since we weren't in a hurry, but I was hungry... Thank God we had an appetizer! Once we finally ordered, she was more attentive. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. There was a lot of conversations and laughter going on. But not too loud that you can't hear yourself talk. DRINKS: My husband just got water, and I got a craft beer. The Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat. I wanted so badly to like it, because I love tangerine, but it almost tasted like tangerine-flavored dishwasher soap was mixed in it. Dont' get me wrong, it was very faint, so maybe it was supposed to taste like that? And maybe other people love the taste. Anyway, my second drink was the Original Sin hard apple cider. It was meh. Angry Orchard is better. I think next time I will try either a cocktail, or stick with my usual favorite - water. So, enough of my 'nits'. On to the good stuff - the important stuff. APPETIZER: To start the night off, we ordered the Dynamite Shrimp. We first thought, woah...$11 for an appetizer? But, when we got it, we were shocked to see the HUGE mound of shrimp on the plate. It was well worth the money. We started to get full before our entrees arrived - and ended up taking about 1 cup worth of shrimp home with us in a doggy bag! It was delicious. My husband like more of a crunch to his shrimp. These were softer - but still delicious. They are breaded and fried and coated with a somewhat spicy sauce. And you dip it in a cup of teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki sauce really pulled all the flavors together in perfect harmony. ;) ENTREES: I ordered the PULLED BACON SANDWICH!!! Sorry for the over-exaggeration, but not sorry. I have to admit, I saw this on the menu online when I was at work earlier that day, and it is what solidified my decision to dine here. And I was floating on clouds when eating it. It's stinking delicious. But don't think it looks or tastes anything like the bacon you fry up on Saturday morning. This looks more like a pulled pork sandwich. And they give you 2 different homemade BBQ sauces. One sweet and one spicy. The brioche bun was fluffy, and perfectly toasted inside. The fries are pretty great too - they were covered in grated parmesan cheese and parsley. My husband wanted to try the brisket. But they were all out...and it was only 5:00 p.m.!! It must be good! He ended up ordering the "Smokehouse Meat & 2" options. He chose smoked ham as the meat, and cole slaw and "belly beans" for sides. The beans may have been black...and there was a bbq sauce mixed in, I believe. Very good. It also comes with 2 mini jalapeno cornbread muffins. He liked it, but would have much rather had brisket! All-in-all, our visit was pleasant. I don't let a slippery floor, and slow order-taking sway my opinion. I am there for the food. As long as the food makes me happy, then I am pretty relaxed on everything else. I will definitely go back, again and again, so that I can try more of the menu options. I was afraid to look at the check. We were guessing it would be around $65...but were pleasantly surprised that it was just over $50! For everything we got - not bad! Well, I gotta hand it to them, the pictures on the site look absolutely amazing! However, the food...not so much. I didn't realize it was a bar with a restaurant, not a restaurant with a bar. Their chili, which is supposed one of their specialties, was so acidic, I couldn't finish the bowl. Hey Chef, a tablespoon of sugar would make that chili so much better (cuts the acid) and you should leave out the lime! I got two mouthfuls of pure pork fat, which ended it for me! The fries were soggy, the Cubano sandwich had cold meat inside. No bueno! I will say their onion rings were bomb! And the atmosphere and the service was great! The server made our soggy fries right! $54 for 2 chili and 2 sandwiches, no alcohol, so pretty pricy for lunch. read more

Love this place! My girlfriend and I frequent this place (probably at least once a month). We love the friendly staff, the relaxed atmosphere and the food is absolutely wonderful. We particularly enjoy the slow smoked wings, (try the house BBQ and the Sriracha Citrus flavors!) and for brunch I highly recommend the chicken and biscuits, too! Absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a cocktail, you should definitely try the "No-Ho Bloody Mary" because it is insane. Very fair pricing. read more

I went here on a Monday and was disappointed in this place. I was excited based on the reviews but there is no way I would give this place 3 stars. The pulled pork was just OK - no flavor on its own, and the sauces didn't thrill me, very light. The ribs were overpowered by the dry rub which coated them. --this could be a plus for some people, but once again the taste of the meat was lost. The staff seemed anxious to get us in and out, and unless you were one of the obvious regulars you will be ignored at the bar. I might go back, but there are so many other better choices for bar food in the area - it may be a while. read more
