Don't let the negative reviews here fool you! I've used JSP for both a rental property and my…read morepersonal home, and they are hands-down the most reliable team in the area. Last July, the AC unit died at a rental house. I called every company I could find, and JSP was the only one that was responsive and they showed up the next day to install a new system when no one else would even return a call. And they came through for me again this winter when I needed an emergency furnace installation at my personal house. Their employees are incredibly professional, kind, and take the time to explain exactly what's going on.

Do you love private equity? You know, the Wall St. guys who buy up all the pharmacies, hospitals,…read moreetc. in your area so they have you under their thumb. If you do, you'll LOVE JSP. I've had my generac generator serviced by a local business for years. This year I got a call from JSP letting me know they had bought the local operation and they would be taking over my service contract. I made an appointment for the annual service and very friendly tech showed up to do the work. Afterwards he pointed out some electrical work he thought should be done on the property and asked if I wanted him to provide a quote. That was a Big Mistake. Now I'm getting 2-3 texts each day offering various services for things I don't even own. I needed a copy of the invoice for the generator work and the phone was answered by an AI (I swear). Maybe the only people who work there are the techs and all the back office is AI, because I was never able to speak with a human or get my invoice. All of this felt familiar so I checked Google to see if private equity was involved. Sure enough "JSP Home Services was acquired by Sila Services, backed by the private equity firm Dubin Clark. Sila has aggressively consolidated heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical service businesses across the Northeast under the Dubin Clark private equity umbrella." So if you like talking to robots who funnel your $$ into billionaires pockets, by all means call JSP. Not me, I'm looking for another local business.

I love the Daikin units they installed, which use R-32 Refrigerant, which has been the standard in Europe for several years and has only 1/3 the negative GWP (global warning potential) of the R-410 used by most other brands, and will be banned in USA from 2025. Units are super efficient and quiet. Installers were friendly, quick and gave attention to detail and included extras that were really helpful.

The technician came and hooked up a pressure gauge and an ammeter to take some readings. He came in the house and measured output temperature and told me I could use a 'head cleaning'. He also told me that I was low on Freon. He quoted me $1265 to top off the Freon (plus tax). I looked up the price of the refrigerant to find retail price is $75 to $300 for 25 lbs and my system 'needed' about a half pound (it only takes 3lbs from empty) which reasonably means that I needed as little as $1 worth of R410. A quick internet search tells me that it's a 5 minute job to put the refrigerant in. So, I paid $200 for a 'tune up' that did nothing to tune up the system but rather was just a 'foot in the door'. And I got a quote for topping off Freon that was more that you can buy a mini split system components for new (uninstalled). That's my experience with these guys.
