Prices accurately represented the quality of the experience. Food was good, service and ambiance were nice as well. We had ousters and clams from the raw bar. We had pork shank, duck, and scallops. Only thing that was really horrible was the bathroom had human feces outside of the toilet. I don't know how long it had been there but it ruined my appetite for a few minutes. Finally made it to NOCO. I'll start this by saying the food, atmosphere, and cocktails were all excellent. Going on a Sunday night...maybe not the best choice. When making an online reservation, all yelp would let us make was an 8pm. When we arrived, the restaurant was 90% empty....???? We could have easily made 6:30, 7, whatever. With that, we felt rushed for our entire seating, Our server was curt and was rushing all over the restaurant doing various tasks to prepare for the next day. it was somewhat uncomfortable. At the end, when I was trying to admire there diligent work routine, they mentioned how they just wanted to get out of there. I get that....but we're paying customers... So, with that said, great food, great atmosphere etc. Maybe fix the online res system or have staff contact the parties before to see if they can come earlier? But, please don't rush customers when they are frequenting your establishment. read more

Super modern, fresh, new spot in Saint James! My boyfriend and I have been here a few times and we try to get something new every time we come. So far we've tried the crispy oysters, the lobster corn cake, burrata, tuna tartare, scallops, the duck entree, the Bolognese, oreo banana gelato, chocolate cake & cheesecake. My co-diner had the wild boar meatloaf, which was very flavorful but his mashed potatoes were cold, kind of a bummer. We had dinner this past Saturday night for restaurant week and did not disappoint. We a 6:15 reservation and we're greeted and seated promptly and the restaurant has a nice contemporary interior. We started with around of great drinks and the fried oysters and they didn't disappoint. My wife got the branzino and was spot on! I couldn't decide what to get, it was narrowed down to three choices I asked our server for her suggestion and she recommended the lobster ravioli. The lobster ravioli was amazingly light and packed with lobster and a nice sauce it was very good! We had another round of drinks and desert which consisted of flourless chocolate cake and Nutella bread pudding both very good. We were here last year for restaurant week and it was great but didn't return due to the pandemic and I'm not a fan of sitting in a tent when possible. Next time when we come back it's down to two choices the Veal Bolognese or the Chicken Meatloaf both I'm told by our server that they are both excellent! See you soon! read more

You could drive right by and miss it, very unassuming location. Made a reservation, table was ready when we arrived. Food was so delicious, atmosphere was perfect (mature, well-dressed 30+ adults), COVID spacing was well-done, and the service was absolutely impeccable. We chose NOCO during Restaurant Week because it offered entrees that included duck and filet mignon. We had the filet mignon over risotto, and both were completely overdone. How can you go wrong with a good cut of meat? Well, very easily apparently. We ordered ours medium-rare and they were both medium, not rare, and bland; we had to douse our cuts with salt and pepper to give it any flavor at all. In addition, we had to ask our waitress for salt and pepper--and wait for her to fetch them while the meat grew lukewarm. Our steak also had a glorified version of Worcestershire sauce smeared on top, which was oddly underwhelming. I note the scathing Yelp review of the unfriendly bartender here, and I have to say that our experience jibes with that. Our waitress was utterly bored with us, and her attitude was borderline hostile. We observed her treatment of an elderly man sitting next to us when she was inquiring how his meal was and continued to walk away without waiting for his response! Suffice it to say, we won't be going here again. There are too many good restaurants to choose from, some even excellent, but the majority certainly superior to this mediocre meal we had at this overpriced venue. But if you wanted to roll the dice, you might get lucky. The appetizers were decent and the desserts delicious. After reading the reviews, I would say that NOCO's biggest problem is its lack of consistency. read more

We were parked in front of Vintage, planning to go there and this place caught my eye. Ended up going there instead. I'm so glad we did. The service was excellent right from the start. There was tons of wait staff. The food was excellent. I had the watermelon salad to start. It was tasty, could've used more greens though. My husband has a risotto appetizer, he loved it. The strip steak was so delicious. It had a blue cheese crust on top and was served over puréed potatoes and mixed veggies. The veggies were so fresh. Definitely seemed like farm to table. The Fallen chocolate cake desert with espresso ice cream was to die for. I definitely can't wait to go back. The bar area was nice looking. The place has an industrial feel, but not too cold. A very welcome addition to the St. James dining scene. Food is the best around and the decor is beautiful. Prices are reasonable for what you get. Nothing else in the area even comes close. Two points of constructive criticism, though: Service was not great for a fine dining restaurant. They appear to be trained, but also very young...like this is their first time serving. Hopefully this will improve with time. A couple of dishes weren't hot when they arrived at the table. It seems the kitchen might have some timing issues. We didn't send anything back, nor complain, because they were delicious anyway. Looking forward to many more returns. read more

The entrees were amazing!! The wild boar meatloaf was absolutely amazing and the scallops with squash was so good as well. The appetizers were lacking, not a very good selection. The charcuterie board was interesting. Hard blocks of cheese and a meat mostly like bologna. The drink menu had some great options which we haven't ever seen. Good size, not over powered with ice and very delicious. The server absolutely sucked. If the meatloaf wasn't so amazing, I would have only left 1 star. She seemed completely in interested in waiting on us, almost like she was bothered by us. The manager took our orders after we'd been waiting for the server for a while. Our plates were never cleared and we needed to flag her down to ask for our check. You get better service at Applebee's. I'd probably order entrees for takeout in the future, but we won't be back to dine in. That wild boar meatloaf was so damn good though!! read more

When I walk into NOCO I am normally greeted by Sadie, a very personable and quite the fashionable ambassador of the restaurant. Since I am usually solo I dine at the bar. The bartender based on my schedule is usually a very pleasant and uber professional. Jacquelyn is her name. I first met Jackie way back while training and have seen Jackie grow into the professional that she now is. Try the farm to burger, the potato crusted salmon or the cod when on special. All delicious. The Nutella brownie desert with a double espresso will finish this culinary adventure. To the detractors that pop up on yelp rarely I say," go back to McDonald's!". You're not worthy. This was my first seated in the "Garden Room", which really is an add on with blown in heat. My fiancé and I have recently been into fine dining and we both said that it was one of the best meals we've had! It was a very busy evening (restaurant week) and we were treated like we were the only people in the restaurant. The service was so great- specifically from a man and a woman (could have been married, I am not sure) who seemed to be managers. Came for happy hour and can't forget about the food. Victor helped us last week and he was amazing. Drinks were great as well as the lobster croquettes from the specials menu. My girlfriend ordered the filet and I got the duck. She loved everything and I couldn't have had a better meal either. I had low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised! I expected small oysters- these were huge! I didn't think they would be juicy, boy was I wrong! The quality of these local oysters were awesome and we couldn't get enough of them. The dinning room was well decorated and spacious. The entire restaurant was clean. We sat fairly close to the bar, which is large. All of the staff were friendly and the restaurant manager was very courteous. My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary here last night. Ambiance, food and service were all great. We had the last reservation of the night so food came out pretty quickly but at no point felt rushed. My only wish would've been a bread basket but not a huge deal with it being so late in the night. Shared the crab and corn cake as an app, hubby ordered the duck and I had the homemade ravioli. We also shared the apple fritters as a dessert. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, and then for entrees had the Cod and the Wild Boar Meatloaf. While they were each very different meals they were each amazing in their own way. My new favorite restaurant! My husband and I stopped in to check out this new restaurant in our hometown. Star number 1: it's beautiful in a chic Manhattan way and the acoustics and the music they play are great. It's was packed, but we we decided to wait for a chair to open at the bar. Star number 2: The manager immediately let us know who at the bar would be seated shortly, so we could grab their seats. He was also extremely friendly, professional and welcoming. Star number 3: the bartender Isiah, was also super friendly and professional. I loved the Pretty Woman martini (think cosmo meets cucumber martini). His service all night was impeccable. Star umber 4: the food!!!!! We had the clams with rye crumbs and chorizo (an awesome twist on clams casino), lamb Wellington and the lobster pasta. Very expensive restaurant even using the price-fixed menu and my wife's entre was full of salt. My duck appetizer was delicious and unique. My scallops were excellent. PHENOMENAL service, worth every penny of my 20% tip. Excellent beer and wine menu, but my wife's drink was weak and small, for $14, a drink should be large and strong like our friend's at Ragazzi in Nesconset. Beautiful decor, wonderful and romantic seating arrangements, but unfortunately, the couple to our left had a squabble and left in a huff spoiling the ambiance. Food was mediocre at best. Service was horrendous. We were seated in what appeared to be an outdoor area that they attempted to winterize. And by winterize I mean space heaters everywhere with extension cords coming from the outside. Total fire hazard. The circuit breaker kept tripping leaving us in the dark. It was really cold too. I asked the server if the heat could be turned up and she says she would check with the manager. The manager then showed up to assist the people at the table next to us offering to move them to the main dining room. No such offer was made to our table. The space heater by our table was also placed on a plastic chair (all the chairs in this room were plastic) near the table adjacent to us. Leaving us with less heat and yet fire hazard. At no point did anyone check in on our comfort or apologize for being left in the dark. Onto the food. The raw bar appetizers were still partially frozen. The main dishes were bland and unimaginative. No one followed up to check in on us to see how the food was. We did not stay for dessert. This place was a huge disappointment. First impressions are important. And this one was beyond poor. read more

I'd give my experience a three. Spanish octopus app was good. Crab cake app was good considering it was light on crab meat and mostly filler. My wife enjoyed her branzino, I ordered rack of lamb. Unfortunately the lamb lacked flavor and the mashed and asparagus that came with the dish were so salty that I still have a salty after taste 4 hrs after the meal. Also I read some reviews before I went which alluded to pace of service and I have to agree. For a fine dining experience everything felt rushed. We were in and out in about an hour. Please give your patrons some time to breathe and converse between meals. read more
