The waiter- Caesar was very courteous & a great server. I decided that because my husband & I had eaten there many times. Many times in the enclosed patio area, we knew it would be a perfect place to enjoy with our daughters & their husbands and our grandson, mostly because the patio room is very private. The servers were great and the food was exactly as I would have expected- my husband and I have been there many times- food and servers always great! Not exactly sure if the manager was having a bad night, but I was very unhappy with my daughter's experience with him. Went for a second time with my fiancée and future in-laws, and it did NOT disappoint! Expectations were exceeded and I'm so excited to go back. This time I had the specialty cocktail (The Smoke Show) -- tequila-based with black cherry. Also got the braised duck on a perfect bed of risotto with pieces of bok choy. The sauce/glaze surrounding the meal was divine. Service impeccable, as was the ambiance. Been awhile since my husband and I were last here. This place did not disappoint, such an amazing satisfying meal. I especially loved the roses and lit candle on our table, made the evening more romantic. The ambiance was perfect. For an appetizer we shared the Pan Fried Gnocchi and Lobster. I could have enjoyed this on its own with a salad, which I very well may do next time. For dinner my husband had the flavorful Wild Boar Meatloaf. I enjoyed the Branzino Fillet. A fish I normally would not get but was excellent, nice crisp to it. For dessert my husband had the special peach crumble and I had the flourless cake with hazelnut gelato; a harmonious blend of sweetness and chocolaty goodness. We both felt full and very satisfied at the end. This a great place for a romantic date night out. I don't usually leave yelp reviews but this place just did not meet expectations. The ambiance was nice, the service was ok, but the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the lobster gnocchi and unfortunately the lobster was not fresh. It was dry and tasted extra fishy. Also, the gnocchi was like fried? Not my cup of tea personally. My partner ordered the lamb chops medium and they were nearly raw. The mashed potatoes did not taste like mashed potatoes. The atmosphere was very nice but this was an odd dining experience. The server forgot our drinks and was not really interested when I asked questions about the menu. We overheard the server complain and sigh to the bartender about the "young couple" he was serving. I'm not sure what that was about, but we were in fact the only "young couple" dining there. The bar was pretty busy for a Tuesday so the cocktails must be good. Also there were half price oysters which were awesome. Probably the highlight of my meal. Maybe I was just unlucky and ordered the wrong things. But I don't think I would come back here again. For the price point I expected a little more and there are plenty of better options in the area. read more

My husband says this restaurant has the BEST PORK CHOP ON LONG ISLAND!!! We decided to go for his birthday, he didn't even want to get dessert it was so good haha! They still decided to come out with a dessert and candle anyway which was so sweet! Great owner & our waitress and the boy training were fantastic! We will 100% be back. My husband is super picky so I'm thrillled that he loved it. Lastly, today we went and his birthday landed on a Monday and it was packed out I honestly was expecting to be the only one in any restaurant today so that definitely set the tone for the place. A little delayed on my review because I came for restaurant week, but my friend and I had an exceptional meal that we thoroughly enjoyed. We came on a Thursday and the restaurant was surprisingly packed for a weeknight. We grabbed a couple of rounds of drinks at the bar while waiting for our table, (yes we did have reservations, but we were super early). Drinks were great. For restaurant week it was $42 I believe for a three course meal. We started off with coconut shrimp and the mozzarella, and we also added a lump crab appetizer. All were outstanding. For dinner I had the duck, and my friend had the filet mignonette, both excellent. I'm glad I got the strawberry sauce on the side for my duck, although it was tasty, I preferred to dip the duck in, vs. it being covered in glaze. For dessert we had a chocolate cake and panna cotta. Really happy with our experience, and will definitely be back. Too bad everyday doesn't have the restaurant week special! read more

First-how great is Restaurant Week! Take advantage of prix fixe pricing and trying a new eatery. Our luck to have eaten at NOCO in St James. A very sweet bistro-not too big not too small. From the lovely hostess who greeted and sat us to our wonderful server, Parker-this place is on point. Everyone who approached our table could not have been more kind or professional. The lighting and table arrangements were so very well thought out. Our food was very tasty-we both enjoyed very much. I like my food to be served hot and cooked to my liking(filet mignon in this case) and it was exactly as described on menu and to my preferences. Kudos!! BTW-great cocktails as well. Getting back to Parker-what a wonderful young man-friendly, attentI've-knew the menu so very well. A definite asset-can't say enough positive things about Parker. Shared their meatloaf again (you can tell the quality of a restaurant if they can charge $30+ for a meatloaf and have it stay on the menu) and also the halibut special. First bite of the halibut was amazing which elicited certain noises from many of us To top it all off, we had an amazing waitress, Kayla! To me, I considered NOCO as a special occasion restaurant, what better occasion than to celebrate my wife's birthday in 2021? I called and made advanced reservation for the occasion, easy peasy! Once we were shown to our booth, I ordered a glass of wine for my wife and I ordered an amazing cocktail, a Sour Cherry Old Fashioned. Be still my beating heart.. Amazing cocktail, kudos to the bartender. We ordered two appetizers to start, Octopus as well as Lobster and Crab fried dumplings. The fried dumplings? Amazing! Loaded with lots of yummy crustaceans, this appetizer whet my appetite for what's to come. The Octopus? Not so fast. I'd best describe this dish as octopus bits along with some really hard, undercooked potatoes. To me, epic fail on this dish. The redeeming factor was our entrees. I ordered the Veal Bolognese and my wife ordered the Branzino. The bolognese was award winning, the chef really created a masterpiece. I'd have to say the Paccheri pasta was coated with this masterful silky sauce. The same with the Branzino. Cooked perfectly, the fish was very moist and flavorful. Overall, we were very impressed with NOCO. Another nice addition to the North Shore area of restaurants. Out to dinner with some very good friends. Yelp says NOCO is a go and that's good enough for me. Reviews are all good too. We have a 5:00 reservation because it was a long weekend and I'm tired. My wife and I share their crab cake which was spectacular. N fact I could've ordered three or four and made a meal out of them. But there's more. I had the scallops and they did not disappoint. Cooked perfectly and it sat on a pile of slaw which was just as good. My wife had the ravioli which she said was good but different. I don't know what the means. I don't think anyone knows. My buddy had the wild boar meatloaf. I don't eat game meat but he said it was good His wife had, actually I don't know what she had but said it was good. Sorry I wasn't paying attention, to busy talking to my friend who I haven't seen in a while. When we left we all agreed we will be back, and I, no doubt will have those scallops again. If you need to host a private event, please look no further than NOCO! I had a surprise 75th birthday party there for my mother this past weekend, and it was perfect and spectacular. Lesley, NOCO's assistant manager, was an effective and efficient communicator throughout the entire party prep process, from booking to event execution. She was present the day of the shindig to make sure that everything ran smoothly, and to lend a helping hand whenever needed (hanging decorations, tending to the guest's needs, etc.). I can't thank her enough for her dedication to ensuring the day went off without a hitch. Every member of the staff, from the bartender (Kala! I want her to be my new best friend!) to the servers, was friendly and attentive and went out of their way to make everyone feel special, especially my mother. They all added a touch of class to the event with their professionalism and pleasant disposition. And the food! WOW! I don't think I'ver had such delicious food at a private event before! 4 appetizer selections (crab cakes, rice balls, crostini and salad) were served family style, and all were amazing. Our entree selections (fish, steak, chicken or pasta) were delivered to the table perfectly timed and tasty as could be. Don't even get me started on dessert! The choices were cheesecake, gelato and Nutella cake, and they were SO GOOD. I'm salivating just thinking about all of the deliciousness we experienced. Yum. Went there for restaurant week for the first time and was so pleasantly surprised! They had a great selection on the menu. I ordered the mussels and my mom ordered the calamari, which was a great portion size. I was genuinely thought it would be more salad than calamari but that was so not the case. Nice and tender too. The mussels were great, a little salty but I liked them. We both got fish for our mains, which were also great sizes. They were piping hot and absolutely delicious. They also have a nice selection of mocktails, which was a nice surprise! Service was excellent. It's a little noisy on the bar side, btw. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to go back! Went for very first time for LI Restaurant Week. Spectacular. Attentive service, great ambiance-fresh roses on the table, amazing food: got the crispy calamari appetizer which was nice sized portion, steamed mussels, then the branzino fillet came out screaming hot and crispy-absolutely delicious. Cedar plank salmon fillet was a substantial portion which was also expertly plated and delicious. They have a good selection of mock tails which we appreciated as well. The desserts were beautifully plated and delicious Honeycrisp Apple Bread pudding and lemon marscapone cheesecake. We were delighted to find that prix fixe is offered Sundays to closing, Mon-Thurs 4-6:30. We found a new fav place. Yay. read more
