My boyfriend and I were vacationing in Maine and driving through Bangor needing a place to eat. We randomly picked the Nocturnem Draft Haus off Yelp and stopped. SO GLAD WE DID. The food was absolutely fantastic. Their wings were the best we've ever had, perfectly crisp and juicy. We both had burgers as well that were amazing with their obviously freshly baked buns. Best veggie burger in Bangor! We had been chasing the Impossible Burger across various establishments in town, and finally got frustrated with various knock-offs. Had the Nocturnem black bean burger and regret ever seeking after a meat substitute product! It was flavorful and had a perfect sear to it. The roll was slightly toasted and tasty itself. While there are many craft beer places in the Greater Bangor area, Nocternum is my favorite. Not only do they have daily rotating taps, but they also have delicious food. It's all very thoughtfully constructed and tasty. They are constantly hosting events for the community and for fun. One of the most striking things they regularly offer is "Toddler Tap Takeover," which is a time when folks can comfortably bring their kids into the place. There are toys and a special kids menu to help parents out who can't get a babysitter but want to be able to go out. I came here with a group of people and were easily seated on a Saturday night, although our choice of seating was RIGHT NEXT to the live music (which I wasn't a fan of, but that's not the restaurant's issue). I had entered in with the impression that they brewed beer there, but instead had a selection of local and some imported beers. WAY too many IPAs and other pale ales on the list though. I did settle on a nice Belgian framboise that was lovely. The food was just okay. We had the charcuterie et frommage which was a lot of salami and nothing else really for the meats, but the cheeses presented were wonderful. I had a bacon and bleu burger for my entree and it was not good at all. The bleu cheese was way too aggressive a type and I wasn't able to enjoy the flavor of the local grass-fed beef or the local bacon. I only managed about half of it. Very disappointing. Another thing that was disappointing? The cosmopolitan that I ordered that was pretty much straight vodka with lime. Completely undrinkable. This place was just okay, but I probably wouldn't make the drive all the way to Bangor just for it. read more

I love this place because they have the raspberry lambic that i have not seen since living in Italy. Beers are in the ok-pricey range. WIDE selection to choose from. Service is GREAT-if you get the bartender named Laura make sure you have a convo with her, she is supper funny and nice! Have yet to try any food there. Great atmosphere and perfect for a date- one room is cozy and intimate and other is your typical bar area. They are only open until midnight so it is the perfect place to start your night. read more

Nocturnum. A great name for a great bar. Do you like great beer? This is your bar. With a modest 14 brews on tap NDH puts a premium of quality and variety. There isn't a weak selection and they rotate often. In addition, they have a solid array of craft bottles and bombers from the mundane to the arcane. However, great beer cannot stand alone. Luckily, Nocturnum offers a nice aesthetic with tasteful decorations set against stylish exposed brick. The food is merely good. The quality is quite tasty but the selection and invention of the kitchen could be more ambitious. Realize, I'm being extremely picky. The food is copious and well executed especially out of such a small kitchen. The verdict remains the same. 5 stars. Do yourself a favor and stop by this, my favorite bar in Bangor. read more

Wife and I stopped by on a recommendation after dinner for drinks. She had the UFF Baby Jimmy Cider. It was served in a Mason jar and was awful tasting. It looked like cloudy lemonade and tasted like seltzer water with a hint of flavor. My wife and I each took one sip and set it aside. I had the Allagash Special Blonde. It was good but nothing special. Both drinks were priced at $7. We did not feel we got our moneys worth on either drink. There were 3 bartenders behind the bar. They pretty much just stood back there despite the bar being full. They did not check our our opinion of drinks while we were sitting at the bar -despite the fact we were clearly not happy with the cider. As we were leaving a bartender (not the one who served us) asked what we thought of the drinks. I told him the cider was awful but did not engage him further. It was too late for that. It should have been obvious to him 20 min earlier. Very disappointed with the experience despite receiving rave reviews from friends and Yelp. I am from out of town so a second chance will not likely happen. I will visit other bars in the future. read more

First off, the environment is cool - warm colors, exposed wood, brick. Second - the music list the night I was there was full of Led Zeppelin, which is my favorite!! Third - good drink choices, was able to have a few opinions I was happy with. Fourth - I am a vegetarian but the girl next to me got wings that I just haaddd to try!!! And man was I glad I broke my diet because they were the best wings I've ever had. Great seasoning, grill marks and super juicy. Obviously their beer selection cannot be beat. They have so much! The atmosphere is also good if you want to be able to talk comfortably with a good friend or date. The people are nice and laid back. I was not impressed at all with their food. I had a sausage/sauerkraut/potato dish and honestly, it all tasted like it was from a can (I often used canned potatoes so I know!). this is our go to place to have a drink & relax. the rotating taps always have an option (sometimes more than one) for each of us, the beer drinker and the non-beer drinker. i love the cider or interesting mead options, the hubby likes the beers of course! we go before the heavy evening crowd so we can have a conversation but any time is a good time for great drink selections! prices are reasonable when you consider that this isn't where you go to get a budweiser (which we like to call water). read more

I'm surprised I don't have a review of this place! This Bangor staple is a must visit if you are able to enjoy a beer and some live entertainment. I lived above the bar for a year and would frequent the place. I always felt welcomed, remembered, and chatted up by the staff. They are wonderful. The music room, bar, and outdoor patio provide everything you could possibly want in an institution and they have amazing musicians play, to boot!
