I've been to this place twice. The first time I went to get my smiley pierced... I loved it at first - until I noticed about a week later that my piercing was hanging dangerously low in my mouth. I returned and I was told it needed to be removed immediately as to not rip my gum, and that the person who pierced it had "seriously f***ed up". Come to find out the guy who had pierced it for me had just been fired for instances like this. They assured me that they had hired someone extremely qualified and experienced to replace him, and offered me another piercing for free to make up for the bad one... Since they don't do refunds here. I wanted to get my money's worth, and not waste the $80 + tip I had spent on the prior peircing, so I opted to get a very simple and common piercing - my naval. Everything seemed fine until about a week or so later - when I found out that the new piercer had used too short of jewelry and my peircing had engulfed it into the skin because of it (I still have a nasty scar from this ). I called to address what happened and see if I could get it swapped out for longer jewelery and they agreed. When I went to get it swapped out , the guy who had pierced it for me had left the shop to work somewhere else... So I had to entrust another person who works at the shop mainly as a tattoo artist since they were still hiring a new piercer... Overall I learned that you should really read reviews for places carefully before you go there . Or honestly just go to a place solely for piercings. This whole experience was an absolute mess, and a little cherry on top - whoever answers the phone usually has a ridiculous attitude. Bring your business elsewhere for piercings. read more

i am not from the area so i decided to get two small pieces and one small one for my boyfriend. we got in quickly which was nice, but unfortunately my experience was not the same. the tattoo artist was very rude. i've had plenty of tattoos before hand and i understand that some artists have "different" sense of humors, but he was plain rude. i got a simple one line butterfly on my finger, was perfectly still and it came out terribly, the other behind my ear isn't visible to me, but others say it's fine. it was my boyfriends first tattooing experience and the artist was body shaming him and making fun of him the whole time. the receptionist who was the artists wife was super sweet and helpful, but her husband was not. i hope others have a better experience than we did. read more

Update: Today, months later, the artist I based the review on (who I left unnamed) texted me and went off on me about my review- extremely unprofessional. Had the business contacted me to discuss things and/or try to make them right, that would have been appreciated. Definitely steering clear of this place. _______________________________________________ This place used to be my go-to when the previous co-owner Jason was around. He was a perfectionist. Now that he's gone this place has gone down in professionalism and quality. I had a gorgeous very detailed Van Gogh tattoo with intricate line work. I finally decided to get it colored and trusted one of their newer artists. The first session wasn't so bad with some base color although I was left waiting alone in the shop and asked to keep an eye out while the employees had a team meeting for half an hour. Strike one. My second session was to finish the color. Well, a lot of my lines weren't darkened as I had asked and some parts were left uncolored. Upon further discussion, it was explained to me that going over lines would be extra work and I would be charged more- I was cool with that until I was told the artist would have to go EVERY line. I don't quite understand that but I was still frustrated that parts were left uncolored and I would now have to go in for a touch up session. Strike two. I went for my touch up session today... the artist didn't use matching colors, he colorblocked pieces that should have been multiple colors, and he even colored over some lines much like a child who is learning to color for the first time. Unreal. So much money spent. I even brought a LARGE replica of the painting for the artist to use as inspiration and he couldn't take the time to do it right?! Never coming here again and if you do make sure you look at portfolios and have a detailed conversation with your artist so you don't waste your time/money. read more

First off i want to say that i got a tattoo done a few months back by CRASH MANSON. He dug me out, butchered me, scarred me, just did a terrible job on my arm. He didnt even finish half of the tattoo, i paid in full and he flaked on me 4 times to get it finished then started ignoring me. I went to holistic tattoo yesterday to get this abomination fixed and mario turned it into a masterpiece. It looks great now and i am 100% pleased with my piece. Mario knows what he is doing and i recommend everyone to go to him to get your next tattoo. His linework and shading is flawless in my opinion and he makes the experience enjoyable with jokes and laughs. 5 stars and much gratitude. Family and I came on a spur of the moment, YOLO type vibe and we were SOOO thankful that they were able to take all 7 of us in with NO prior appointment (we called the day of). My tattoo artist was Clyde! 1000% recommend him. It was actually my first tattoo and he made me feel so comfortable. So attentive to detail and makes sure what you're getting is exactly what you want. The people in this place treat you like family the second you walk in, they don't make you feel dumb or like you're inconveniencing them with your questions, and they are all so ridiculously talented. My friend and I walked into this shop on a whim late last night after having a less than amazing experience with another tattoo shop right down the way. Please stay away from this place when it comes to piercings. I'm not one to write a review but people need to be aware of the unsafe practices they are doing. I recently got my forward helix done (3 on each side) and it has been a total nightmare. Clyde was the one who pierced my ears. He didn't know what he was doing. When he pierced my ears he hurt me so bad (I have a high pain tolerance). It was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. He was super rough. And he didn't even know where to place the dots for my piercings. He was so iffy about everything. He not only pierced my ears the wrong way but he also put different sizes of piercings on each ear. They were long and short. The short piercings were too tight on my ears that they all got infected. He should have known they weren't the right fit. Pus started coming out and I started to bleed. The piercings started to sink inside my ear and extra skin started growing ontop of the earrings. Worst experience I've ever had. Plus he didn't even sterilize the jewelery correctly. All that was done to me was extremely dangerous. Anyone can do piercings but doesn't mean they know what they are doing. Please go to a real professional. I had to go to another piercer to fix the mistakes that were done at this shop and I had to pay extra money but it was totally worth it. read more

It's funny to read the one other review this shop has because the same thing happened to me this past weekend. I bought a living social coupon $99 for a $250 tattoo. I had an appointment with Mario and upon arriving to the shop, some apprentice KID tells me says "Oh.... Mario didn't tell you? he won't be in for a few weeks. he had an emergency vacation." ummm OBVIOUSLY he did not tell me! No email or phone call in regards to him leaving either. This same person tells me I can reschedule for the same night, well... one, who would I do that with if its only the apprentice in the shop, theres no way some child with no experience is tattooing my portrait for me. and two, why would I drive 45 minutes and waste my time and money to do it AGAIN in the same day??? Don't waste your time at this disgusting shop. They obviously don't keep care of it at all, the owner doesn't care, AND the apprentice has stated that they weren't having a great day that day because the entire shop was just broken in to!!! This review is for Jason.... My roommate and I got 4 piercings from Jason all in the same day. I think we were on a binge that day. We had gone into two or three different shops before walking into the shop he was working at during that time. Jason made us feel comfortable from the moment he greeted us. Besides the fact that he's an approachable and friendly person, Jason is extremely clean, and meticulous. Before any needle pierced our skin he double and triple checked to make sure he had marked the right place. He explained everything he was about to do before he did it and made sure we understood. I decided to get my very first tattoo, after years of wanting one. I could not have chosen a better place or person to do it. Johnny was awesome! I only wanted a simple word on my arm, and he took his time, made sure it was sized and placed perfectly, and put any of my fears completely at ease. I recently went to another popular shop on Melrose with a friend who got the same kind of tattoo, and she was done in 5 minutes! They put no care or thought into at all. There were others there getting much more intricate art placed on their bodies, and you could tell they were all extremely talented, confident and take pride in their work. Holistic Tattoo uses Vegan ink, and basically doesn't have any of the heavy metals, toxins, acrylics, etc that others have. I'm so afraid I'm addicted now, and am going back to see Johnny very soon. read more

Loved this place! First thing I noticed was how clean and organized it was, and it smelled so good (incense). My artist was Liz and she instantly made me feel comfortable and was really sweet. I had told her I was moving toward filling up my arms, and I wanted a flower bouquet. After showing her some pictures of the kind of wildflowers I like, she was able to draw up something that was exactly what I had imagined. The whole process went by pretty quickly for the size of space she covered, and compared to previous tattoos I've had done, Liz was far from heavy handed. Way less painful than I was expecting especially around my elbow and wrist.
