I visited Morais Vineyards for the first time yesterday to celebrate a dear friend's birthday, and…read moreI truly didn't know what to expect since I had never heard of it before. From the moment we arrived, I was completely blown away. As we parked and walked toward the field--with gazebos and a dock with seating--I immediately noticed how kid-friendly the vineyard is. The playground setup was incredibly creative and perfect for sparking a child's imagination. I honestly wish I had known ahead of time because I would have brought my little one! The property itself is beautiful and very well maintained. There were horses roaming around, which added such a peaceful charm. As we explored, I kept noticing thoughtful and unique touches everywhere--from a stunning wine tree to large decorative clay pots, and even buildings designed to resemble a Greek town that house classic cars. It all made the experience feel extra special. There was a wedding taking place, so part of the property was closed off, but it was easy to see how perfect this venue would be for an intimate "I do." Inside the main building, they offered a great selection of food, an impressive wine list available by the glass, bottle, or flight, and hands down the best wine slush I've ever had. My only critique is that it seemed like the AC wasn't working inside, and I really felt for the bartenders who were working so hard as it got busier throughout the day. Overall, I absolutely loved this place. It's one of the few spots that truly caters to both adults and children, and I'll definitely be back.

Tastings come with a small snack plate of cheese, meats crackers and chocolate. Wines are primarily Portugal varietals. We enjoyed most of the wines we tried and bought a few bottles as well. We will stop in again My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness of offerings)

A time was had during my first but definitely not last visit to the Winery at La Grange!…read more Thanks to Guide to Imbibe, I stumbled across this gem a little less than an hour from DC. The parts of the winery I did see were beautiful. The house served as a Civil War hospital, then a home and now winery since 2006. I didn't get a chance to view upstairs or out back because I spent my entire time there in the tasting room. I was told upstairs has some parlours with seating for a more private experience. The outside view is beautiful with multiple tables to sit and enjoy wine and live music on the weekends. Mary, a fellow educator, took excellent care of me when I arrived! She was so warm and friendly and did a great job of explaining all the wines and helping me find wines that fit my preference. I ended up joining their wine club and left with 8 bottles. I also got to meet Flurry one of the staff member's dog. Everyone was so friendly and I'm excited to return with some friends!

You're in for a barrel of fun and an extensive wine education at this stately and immense winery. The wine tasting room is big and comfortable, we had an amazing wine connoisseur, Zach, who taught us so much about the varied wines. He was funny and informative! Loved the quirky corky menu for a festive touch! We loved the Viognier, Virginia's signature grape! The Cabernet Franc Reserve was a casual wine that we were told would be great with pizza and Netflix! The coppery Cabernet Sauvignon was peppery and slightly dry which we liked! The Chardonnay subtle unique; more than oak and buttery, Zach said if you want just oak and butter, rub Land O' Lakes on a tree! Lol! The light Merlot "greets you at the front door" and cherry bombs you! Carmenere almost went extinct; thank you Chile for bringing it back! The wines were superb and we brought several bottles back home! The prices were reasonable and the experience was phenomenal! We thoroughly appreciated and enjoyed every moment at this lively winery and can't wait to return!
