We made the trip down from the cities on a Saturday and stopped at Nolabelle on our way to Jeffers petroglyphs. I had made a reservation for 1:30pm but we were going to be late and had to reschedule to 2pm. They close to prep for lunch service for about 30-45 minutes at 2pm. Our fault for being late, so we waited in a booth and got drinks. I needed about that much time to decide what I wanted to order, anyway. We got the spicy chicken sandwich, side arugula + apple salad, tomato bisque, and the plain Jain burger, add egg, with a side Caesar salad. The chicken was very good. Not the absolute best spicy chicken sandwich I've ever had, but very good. The burger was good and fresh. Both salads were very tasty. The soup was fresh but needed more salt/seasoning. The lemon ricotta pancakes were good but the pain perdu (similar to french toast) was really good. Both dishes were generous portions. The country hash was really good as well. I've gone to this restaurant 4 previous times. I have always loved the food & service. However, this time service was horrible. We had a 20 minute wait which was ok. We were seated in 24 minutes But had to remind the hostess we requested outside as she was going to seat us inside. We sat at our table another 15 minutes with no contact from anyone. Servers were walking by us for other tables. There were 4 tables empty outside. There were empty tables inside also so it didn't seem to busy. We finally stopped a server & asked if we could order. He said there must have been a miscommunication. He took our order. The menu had changed since my last time here. The hanger steak was the best. It was replaced with another similar steak (ribeye) but it was very gristly. It took 45 minutes for our food to come out. overall experience was not what I was expecting. it's no longer one of my favorite spots to eat in Mankato. read more

Out of the gates, the service was very attentive. I appreciated the high level of menu knowledge the server had. I asked a lot of questions. The chips are not to be slept on, very flavorful and a good portion. My po boy didn't come with pickles but they were nice enough to give me a side of them to try, since they make them in-house. They're a great mild dill pickle. The shrimp on the po boy were cooked perfectly, very tender. Shrimp can easily get overcooked, not the case here. We stopped here on our way to visit our childhood home and neighborhood. Open, bright and airy, and the lunch crowd was in full effect, so we were hopeful! Our server was friendly and attentive... we placed our kids' orders.... then our drink orders that came pretty soon after. Then everything came to a slow crawl.... Since it was open kitchen, we watched all the other new orders get passed through. It was probably 30 additional minutes before the kids' flat burger came and our Cobb salad and plain Jane burger. Nothing major to report in terms of the taste. The slow kitchen timing left us looking around wondering why. Training new kitchen staff? Based on the good reviews and the unique menu, we were pretty excited to check this place out but feel like we wasted our money here, which we were sad about because there's a lot of potential here. The hostess when we walked in was extremely friendly. The menu had some unique options which had me intrigued. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries and I ordered the Blueberry Chicken Tacos. My biggest complaint is that our waitress was one that did the "sneaky" upcharges (ex. "Would you like ketchup, aioli, or anything with your fries?" without telling you that aioli is a $1 upcharge even though ketchup which they gave us anyway isn't) which always bothers me. Their expensive aioli, by the way, was just a bad mayo that had clearly been sitting out in the dish for too long. They also charge $3 just to sub the chips for regular fries, which now makes a Cuban with fries $19 ($20 with the mayo) which is kind of absurd. The food was good but didn't blow me away. I liked the blueberry chicken tacos with the blueberry sauce and brussels sprouts, but they tasted bland, like they needed more salt. The Cuban was also good, but I've had far better Cubans elsewhere that don't cost so much. Service, aside from the sneaky upcharging, was not very good either as she only had one other table and only checked on us once as she passed by at the very end of our meal. So overall, I feel like this place has so much potential to be great with their unique menu, but bad service and mediocre food left us where we wouldn't go back. read more

The waitress took our orders and didn't write any of it down, which is always a bad sign for me at restaurants. Explains why two of our four meals were messed up. We waited over 30 minutes for our food in a half full restaurant (it's also a very small restaurant maybe 15 tables). One meal was completely wrong and mine was served with chips when I had asked for the fries. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It's was good, nothing to rave about, and about a quarter of the chicken was fat. My friends felt the same way about their meals. Items they usually enjoyed were tasting more subpar. We did all split two orders of the Beignets for dessert and they were very good. Nice and fluffy. Overall, my rating still sits at a 3. Feel it's overpriced due to the very simple flavor and the small portions. Their menu is very limited very few select items. My guess it's due to the owner growing its own veggies and organic meats. We recently celebrated our daughters college graduation from MSUM. We made a reservation for 15 then 17 and finally 18 people. We knew that it may be a little tricky as this is not a huge restaurant, but they were more than accommodating, kept the group together and provided excellent service. Our server Dillion was nothing sha amazing. The commencement was running late and I was nervous about the group size and seating, and people coming at different times. It could not have been any easier from the hostesses to the extra servers that helped bring out hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Everyone was so helpful and patient! We received numerous compliments from our family on how good the food and service was and what a great choice we made for the celebration.
