Wow! That's one of the best Thai Basil we've eaten. Wife and I both love this dish as you're able to order it spicy as you wish to mild and choice of minced/ground chicken or pork. It comes with steamed rice and we mix it all together for the fulfilling delight of mouthwatering joy. We both also had a bowl of egg drop soup and it was delicious, thick and not watery, does have green onions in it. Overall we enjoyed our lunch and would highly recommend. Nom's kitchen, our last dinner meal on the island. Wife was crvaing Thai food and I was a little skeptical when she told me about Nom's Kitchen. How cool that they have a little grocery store in their restaurant. All different kinds of Thai food and sauces. When we arrived, we order the Thai Chicken Wings and split the Beef Pad See Ew since we had a big lunch. Reading the reviews online, people described great service but maybe they were having an off night. They clearly were short staffed on this night and it showed. I understand that this is a family restaurant but I do wish the service was better, I'll chalk it up to quite a few people dining in. Also when they were running behind, they updated us and apologized. The chicken wings were flavorful and had a nice Thai chilli sauce, I wish they were a little bigger. The Beef Pad See Ew was huge. Even though we split the dish, we still brought home leftovers with us. I wish though that the dish was a little more Thai spicy. I don't think there was any heat on this dish. According to the menu, you can choose the heat level but we were never given that option. The Thai Tea was pretty good, just the right level of sweetness. Pretty decent Thai food on the island, my advice is to order things a little more spicy if you like spicy food. read more

Walk into a mini mini shop with Asian sauces and curry pastes and noodles. Go to your right to the restaurant side. Small family run. Very good Thai dishes. I had the basil ground chicken with egg & rice. Dad had the stir fry with shrimp. Husband had the sweet rice with chicken and sauce on the side. Drinks we had beer, Thai coffee and Thai tea. My husband and I ate a later lunch here today, and as someone who gets extremely sick off gluten, I saw previous reviews where the menu lists GF items. I was elated when I saw they had GF pad Thai (my favorite). My husband and I split the pad Thai with shrimp, and it was incredible. He's still talking about how good it was. The portions are larger, and we were quite full. The service is also excellent, and for it being 1:30 pm on a Saturday, they were quite busy. The cherry on top (in addition to being veteran owner ) was the Christian music playing in the background. We never expected it, but it was quite refreshing. I was visiting Corpus Christi and heard I needed to explore padre island. I found this gem restraunt that did not disappoint! Immediately walked in and could smell curry and other spices. I immediately knew this place was authentic, and there's a small section to purchase Asian cuisine noddles, spices, drinks, and sweet treats. Found this little gem while vacationing on the island. We went to a couple other places and they were either closed or had a really long wait. Pulled up restaurants on yelp and my fellow yelpers were right about this place. It's not very big, but it was very clean and service was good. We ordered the cold rolls and fried tofu and both were delicious! My friend ordered the vegetable drunken noodles and they were savory and yummy! I ordered a cold salad and was not disappointed. It too was delicious! The servings are generous so we were able to take home leftovers! If you are in the area and are looking for something different try this place. After a day of no luck fishing(possibly poor skills) were hungry. Spotted this place on our way out of island. Aprox 4pm on Saturday, was quiet only two couples. Waiter, possibly owner was welcoming and attentive, answered all questions. Started off with thai beer, Chang and Shansa(sp) both were stout and flavorful. 4 of us ate family style. The best was chicken cocnut milk curry soup, excellent. We also saray and chicken wing appetizers, good. Chicken lo mein was tasty with FRESH chicken. I like this place. It was cold when I entered but after a soup and two Cabernets, I warmed up. The waitress was patient and accommodating. I wanted crispy spring rolls. I ordered the Tom Seafood soup. I got the soup which had a lot of onions. I had to ask for my spring rolls. She rushed to order them. I got the soft spring rolls which were healthier and delicious. We visited Nom's after seeing the reviews on Yelp. We wanted to try something new while visiting the island and it did NOT disappoint. Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with crab rangoons and egg rolls and the rangoons were the most flavorful we have ever had! Both appetizers were a hit! For our meals we had the shrimp pad Thai and the shrimp drunken noodles. Both were full of flavor and loaded with large shrimp! I'd get either of them again but now I want to try the whole menu. Our service was good but the only thing I would say is that it was awkwardly quiet in the dining room. The only thing I would change is adding a little music in the background and the ambiance would have been perfect. Cute restaurant, excellent food...we will definitely be back! read more

Our experience at Nom's Kitchen was phenomenal! My husband ordered the chicken Tom Kha. I ordered the Green Curry. We shared mango sticky rice for dessert. Our server was attentive and lovely. The establishment was clean and well-maintained. The only reason I am leaving five stars versus four is because of my experience with the green curry. I've eaten green curry many times without issue. I have Celiac Disease, and ordered this item as part of the gluten-free menu. I was up all night with pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. My husband had no such effects, so I can only assume there was some wheat contamination. read more

Our first visit to Nom's did not disappoint. We were served by the owners Nom and her husband who made our experience special. Nom's is coming up on their 3rd anniversary, their success is due to the wonderfully delicious food. We enjoyed the fresh rolls which were served with a generous amount of delicious peanut sauce. We also had the Yum Nam crispy rice salad which was complex with many flavors incorporated and with an amazing crunch factor from the crispy rice and small pieces of pork rind. The Pad Thai was on point and the Fried wings served with sticky rice was so so good! We will definitely add the restaurant to our top 5 list for our trips to North Padre and will highly recommend to our circle of friends. read more

The portion was so tiny on the pad thai. The container was 1/4 pad Thai, 1/4 bean sprouts, and 1/2 empty. The only item that tasted good was the curry. Corpus isn't exactly swimming in good Asian food and even when there are options they tend to be derivative and mediocre. Enter Noms. From what I understand this restaurant is run by a Thai woman/family and frankly the authenticity shows. Where a normal Thai restaurant would have all the Americanized dishes you'd expect from noodles or curries, they offer a slimmed down menu and include some actual Thai classics like the Som Tom, Larb, or Crying Tiger Beef and Mango Sticky Rice. Between visits I've tried most of the curries, all of the noodle dishes, the som Tom, crispy fish and a whole boat load of other items. If your main complaint is the price, I'd just say that Thai food is a complicated and delicate cuisine and the only reason you think it's pricey is because you've been conditioned to think it is cheap by cheap Chinese restaurants also offering Thai options. This is a can't miss establishment on North Padre. read more
