Came here for dinner on a weeknight. It was quite busy due to the nice weather, but it was also fast churning. The interior's got an interesting vibe to it. You get that industrial feel in the main dining room, where you can also sit right in front of all the ovens as your pizza is being made. On the other end, you can go past the garage and sit in the partially enclosed outdoor area. In hindsight, we probably would've had a good time sitting outdoors, but we were just as fine sitting in the main dining area. I knew about Nomad Pizza because my neighbor hosted a 1st birthday party and brought the truck over to serve pizzas for lunch. I was looking for some of those exact pizzas (i.e. the Trenton pizza), but I then realized that the menu given to us there was slightly tweaked and customized. There was no "trenton pizza." However, we loved the pizza Therefore, we had to look at the menu anew, which was perfectly fine. We ordered the following items: 1) Arugula Salad: This was a great choice. The pecans stood out to me. 2) Margherita Pizza: Solid pizza. It's pretty standard, but it was good. 3) Special White Pizza with Artichokes, Balsamic, and a bunch of other stuff: This isn't on the regular menu, but it was pretty damn good. I wish I remembered the name or took some photos. For 3 people, we were able to just finish all 3 of these items. The crusts are more thicker than your standard wood fired pizzas, but it's not heavy like the big box pizzas. If you're 2 people, you'll definitely be good with one pie. If 4, I'd probably consider 3 pies only because there isn't any option for appetizers beyond salads. You'll probably take back leftovers, but better that than starve. Solid stop on my road trip to Philly. Can already tell it's a Princeton gem! Normally just meh about pizza, but Nomad Pizza just does something a little special. The best pizza in Princeton by far. Apparently it's inspired by Naples? I've only heard of the one in Florida but this sure beats any pizza they have down there. Don't get it wrong, this is no New York Pizza nonsense, this is the real stuff that will flop right into your mouth and bring you to the gates of heaven. The dough is as soft as Bill Clinton's hand (I have had this fact verified by an Italian teacher who once SHOOK Bill Clinton's hand) and has beautiful leoparding from the wood-fired oven. The size of the pizzas is odd, slightly too larger for one person's meal but too small to share. Of course, I find no issue with this, as I have no option but to enjoy a whole pizza while visiting. The flavors of the pizzas are very diverse and delicious, blending together tastes of sweet, savory, and sour into one 14 inch round of happiness. High key low key hot take: the vegetarian options are best, as the quality of the ingredients they use is very high and the blistered vegetables marry with the dough much nicer. I have not yet sampled any of the salads or appetizers, but they looked quite divine, especially the fresh vegetables paired with burrata. Many a Princeton student are familiar with the Nomad Pizza truck, the impressive oven on wheels that turns any lame undergraduate social event into a pizza party to remember. Most recently, I immorally cut a line of over fifty students at the end of year celebration to get myself a slice of Nomad, but hey, its a dog eat dog (eat pizza) world out there. However, many students will go their time in Princeton without visiting the brick and mortar location and there is something to be rued in that. The setting is nice and open, with modern lighting and spacious outdoor seating. It can get rather loud in there, so make sure to bring large enough of a party for yourself so that you can drown out the noise yourself. I would also advise you bring your own water bottles. Following some hip trend that regretfully exists, they serve you water in cups the size of an applesauce cup and only leave a small vase for an entire table of six to share. H2O? H2no :( This would not be an issue except for the fact I have always received slow service here. The employees infrequently come to check on you, and on multiple occasions now I have had my order in my head for ten minutes before the lady in the hat came over to take my order, leading to the dreaded "do I really want the Spicy Sausage or the Sassy Soppressata" stalemate of indecision. Additionally, one poor girl at the register once nearly got yelled at by a customer because she couldn't count change, I'll let the reader decide who they think is at fault. My final suggestion: come in with a large party if you want to enjoy your in-house dining experience. If you're flying solo, stick to carry out and eat it in the Princeton Shopping Center on the wooden picnic tables by Chopt, killer sunset vibes yo. The pizza itself gets ten stars. All beings, from dog to human, toddler to geriatric, can find bliss in a pizza from Nomad. I dare say, even Italians may just be impressed. My first taste of Nomad Pizza came way before just about anyone in the shop at any given time. Bet the farm none of these Princetonites hadn't had one of these beauties off the back of a truck on a Philadelphia street a decade ago. We would ride up to the truck on our single speed bikes in search of char and crispy blackened bubbles on the crust. Maybe we had a bottle or two of an IPA in our backpacks. Fast forward to the Teslas and Range Rovers in the parking lot. While it's still BYOB, you're more than welcome to purchase one of the wines they offer. The clientele is a little more upscale, but the pizza, thankfully is still the same. The wide variety of salads is a much welcomed addition for those of us who don't have the same metabolism we had in our twenties. This latest visit featured a root vegetable and goat cheese special. It being a Friday in Lent, I went with a simple plain pie. Previous trips ventured down paths of fennel-laced sausage, piquant pepperoni, buratta, mushrooms, black truffle and eggs. It's tough to go wrong with their toppings. In general, the staff is great. They're constantly explaining the menu and their lack of slices to the Princeton whitehairs. We had Gabriella for our last visit and she was outstanding. The only flub I've witnessed at Nomad was when someone from the kitchen brought a regular crust to my dining partner who had ordered a gluten free crust. After two slices she declared it the best gluten free crust she'd ever had...until our waiter rolled over and saw in horror that it was a potentially catastrophic error. Fortunately her gluten intolerance isn't fatal, but one of these Princeton folk would have made a huge issue out of it had it happened to them. (The waiter was very apologetic, but a "hey, wine is on the house, thanks for not dying" would have been nice.) By the way, the gluten free crust is quite good. Overall the pizza is pricey, but worth it. Averaging $20 for a pie for one person is a nice way to treat yourself. The same price gets you enough pie for two days at your local shop. The flavors were tasty on the Tartufo pie - the mushrooms were flavorful and the serrano peppers we added were spicy (great addition!), but the crust was just too rubbery and chewy for our liking. Just the right amount of red pepper , sauce and cheese. We made the trip tonight. Not only for the pizza but for the dessert. We saw that blueberry shortcake was on the menu and we had to get it. We got it last summer and it was so refreshing. Same goes for this time. The dessert includes two small short cakes covered in fresh blueberries and blueberry sauce with a little whipped cream. Madness during peak hours is common place. Anytime there is a need to return after getting takeout is an inconvenience. When it was apparent to me that whatever I needed wasn't going to be resolved over the phone and I needed to return, I was annoyed. My observation from eating in and taking out a few times is that service is always a big question mark. There always seems to be a shortage of help staff here to the point that the restaurant greeter is running around delivering orders to tables, running payments, and setting up place settings while also doing the things a greeter is supposed to do, managing seating arrangements and running the front end. I'm not sure if the issue is just manpower or there are enough POS machines or both that create this backlog in service. In my case when I did return, I waited patiently for my turn and was greeted with incredible indifference when I informed why I returned. It took no more than one minute to resolve my issue and I didn't get a single word spoken to me during or after. While any sort of acknowledgment may not have corrected in full any dissatisfaction I had, it would have made this review less flammable for sure. That's ok as far as I'm concerned. I will miss you Nomad Pizza. We moved away from the area but after living in New Jersey for the past 2 years Nomad Pizza was hands down our favorite pizza place in the tri-state area. We would have monthly girls night here cause it had something for everyone with different dietary restrictions. It's also a great spot to take visitors. I've dined in at both Princeton and Hopewell locations and they are both great. I have a slight preference towards the Hopewell location because the owner is there often and always provided great recommendations and sometimes extra toppings! Princeton is easier to get to with plenty of parking and seating. Hopewell is much smaller and only has a tiny lot that fits maybe 10 cars. My go-to favorites were their classic Margherita, shiitake mushroom, and gorgonzola & poached pear (seasonal). Guanciale pizza is good too but I prefer the other 3 more. During shelter-in-place I ordered take out twice. I ordered from Hopewell both times and they did no-contact pick up. You call and let them know you've arrived and they would come out and place it in your trunk or backseat. I received my orders in time both times. read more

I could see them from our table and they were all on their phones or talking to each other. It was extremely frustrating. Wow, best pizza since I can remember!!! So tasty, I had the spinach and sausage pizza, it was my first time here!!!! Never thought it would be as good as it was, for a few dollars extra it's worth it, because you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. Hostess was great and made me feel very welcome, even though I was only getting the pizza to take home and eat. She explained a lot about what the restaurant offered, and the BYOB, wine, etc. and also made sure I got what I wanted. I can't say enough about the atmosphere; it was almost as if I were in a nice Manhattan restaurant. The interior design was really excellent. AMORE! What a fantastic first experience here. The service to start was perfect. Seated immediately on a crowded night. Manager created an additional outdoor table for lil ole me. Waitress came right away, opened our wine (BYOB), and provided water. She herself noticed the table wobbled, so immediately put something under the leg to fix it. A true rock star! Ordered the burrata with an arugula salad for apps. Hefty portions for reasonable prices! The burrata was chilly (it has been a bucket list item to try so I can't compare) but it was perfectly gooey inside with a harder shell exterior. A bit tasteless though. Paired with a large slice of roasted red pepper (phenomenal--the highlight) and hefty amount of prosciutto. Everything paired fabulously. Cool, creamy cheese with warm, zest from pepper, sharp smoke from the meat. The salad was also fantastic - tossed in a light lemon vinaigrette, pecans, fresh cherry tomatoes of various colors, and 4 generous garlicy, spreadable cheese globs on each corner (tasted slightly like goat but not as pungent). I hate goat cheese but this was delish. Pizzas ordered: the hot soppressata and guanciale. The waitress provided spot on recommendations. Found the slices to be a bit floppy, but maybe that's how this pizza always comes. Very large soppressata slices atop (Italian spicy salami) and the guanciale was a bit on the sweet side from the fig jam but paired well with the crispy pork and spinach. Our tummies were stuffed to the brim by the end!!! 1 pie may honestly be enough for 2 people with the apps. Saw people order the tiramisu and cannoli which looked right up my alley - review pending. The outdoor seating had zip up tent walls (and heating lamps for colder times) with cute string lights. Interior was also a welcoming atmosphere. This was my second time eating in at Nomad's Pizza and my experience was pretty similar to the last time. I think allowed the hype of this place the first time to influence my rating. It's a solid 3.5 in my book. A nice environment for tasty albeit slightly overpriced for what you get pizza. Nomad's interior has a rustic, casual feel to it in an open well lit space thanks to large windows (actually garage-like doors) . There is also a nice outdoor seating area. It certainly packs up. I've had the Shiitake Mushroom, Piccolo, Guanciale, Quattro Formaggio, Margherita. The Shiitake and the Guanciale are winners - unique flavors. Their pizza crust is pretty stellar and they have a great knack for caramelizing onions and adding just the right amount garlic, basil etc. Nomad pulls off delicious pizza on a nicely crafted crust. The Quattro Formaggio was just a bunch of cheese with little flavor and the Piccolo had a different sort of crust (I don't think this is on their menu anymore). Service was friendly and polite. And as other reviewers mention, the price tag on the pizzas is high. This pizza dinner for 4 adults cost us close to $100. A pretty steep price tag for pizza. Always a princeton favorite! Nomads is my go to when I'm back home for any occasion. It's perfect for a romantic date or a casual catch up with friends! Their holiday pies right now are to die for! The lions mane was delicious! Can't go wrong with the classics as well like Margherita or soppreseta - I like to add pepperoni to mine as an alternative! It is BYOB although they do sell wine by the bottle and glass too. Highly recommend bringing a bottle or two and enjoying the food! The staff is very friendly and check in often.
