I was in the port credit area and was looking for a restaurant for dinner. I discovered Nomads and took a look at their menu. What a cute concept since Nomads are a member of a people having no permanent abode, and who travel from place to place. Their menu is exactly it they have food from Thailand, Indian, Cuba, Mexico, Italian, Japan and etc. I was super excited to try this place. When I tried to make reservations online you get an email after completing the form that someone would call you but no one called me so I wasn't sure If I had reservations when I arrived. The place was empty so it all worked out. When I tried to call the restaurant when they opened several times it goes straight to voicemail. Reservations process is not great. FYI- the restaurant turns into a club/lounge with security at the door after 10pm. Ambiance: It has a modern feel with a lot of high top tables a bit hard to get up. Restrooms are unisex which I'm not accustomed to yet. But it's clean. Service: There were several waitresses serving us. One particular lady was in training and was super nice to us and always coming to ask us what we wanted. If all the stars were based on service I would give them a 5/5 such friendly servers! Food: This is when it all went downhill unfortunately. I had to take off 3 stars for the food since the main reason I'm there is to eat. We started off with the tempura shrimp hand rolls. The tempura batter was tasteless and was not crispy like the way tempura was supposed to be done. It was more heavy battered like fish and chips. The rolls itself only had the tempura shrimps, avocado, and a huge chunk of wasabi secretly hidden that my friend nearly choked on! Lol overall not impressed and very plain. We had to drown it in soya sauce to get some taste to it. One of our mains was Pad Thai. I can make Pad Thai better at home and I can't cook! It was flavourless and too much tofu that tasted rubbery. The chicken pieces were huge. We joked that they got lazy and just threw the chunks in the pan. For $20 the portion size was so small and the flavour was bland. Stay away from this dish! The other main we got was the Cubana sandwich with the kettle chips. The chips tasted a bit stale and almost like plantain chips. The sandwich itself the bread was soggy with some weird sauce and the meat was dry what a weird combo. For dessert we had the key lime pie and I would have to say it was ok. I've had better but it wasn't bad. For drinks the white peace sangria was a bit watered down. All in all if you come for drinks the ambiance is nice, but food wise it fell flat. Service was excellent! We tried a few dishes and none of them were good. I really wish I would like this place since I was so excited about the concept. I probably won't be coming back again for dinner maybe drinks when it turns into a club. read more

Not quite a 5 but it could go over the top in a few more visits. I was buzzed a bit from Ribfest but the night was still young and I needed to get the edge off. My Yelpie Buddy Peter told me to come to Nomads. So like a Nomad and as a bright sign in the bar said - Wander On...In. Nomads is another one of many trendy and hip places that has populated Port Credit's Lakeshore from let's say Hurontario to Mississauge Road. All the cool places are a welcome sight compared to my Shawarma, Pork Bone Soup, and Sushi littered Yonge Street that I have been avoiding back on the Hill. Or the plethora of dumplings along HWY#7. Nothing wrong with all the choices, however, please give me a cool and trendy bar to go to...No...not those Little Black Dress Mafia joints! Step inside the small bar and you are greeted not only by the staff but the friendly nature of the patrons too. All ages of people just hanging out...Chil-Laxing. I ordered a couple of brews, struck up a conversation with a few people and got to know the locals. If you like to converse, sit at the bar. It's like putting a "happy to meet you" neon sign on your head. For those lugs and luggettes that sit at the bar and hog space...find a corner somewhere please! For those Pro-Gender Neutral bathroom lovers. It's here. I walked in to do a refund and I was surprised with the number of "unexpected" company. This place has great potential and the food is very good. The decor is dark and unimaginative. We had yuca fries, arancini, steamed bao buns, and kalbi short ribs. We washed this down with a 9oz glass of wine each. This was not cheap, but the food was well prepared and presented. The menu, including the brunch menu, is interesting but my pedantic nature gets irritated by stupid typos that were allowed to go to print. Signature, scrambled, champagne are a few words that were misspelled. Service was quite good and we may go back. This place is not aimed at us boomers, so perhaps the lack of ambiance is due to us being early birds. read more

The food was meh, but with a menu inspired with different foods around the world was an interesting concept. It was our first time trying yuca fries and our first impression was pretty much a more dense friend fries. The carne asada was alright, it was an interesting mix with the chimri chimiri sauce. For the steamed bao, it was okay with an overwhelming size of pork belly in the bao. I think our favourite dish, would have to be the Jerk Chicken drummies with a nice marinade! We ordered: Carne Asada w/ Yuca Fries, Steamed Bao Buns, Jerk Chicken drummies & Kalbi short ribs We went for lunch, it they didn't seem too busy. I wasn't able to make it to try the Danforth location but when I heard that some of the former team who were the brains behind El Jefe in Port Credit had moved on to try a new casual dining endeavour I was jealous it was so far from home for me. So colour me excited when they came back to Port Credit and brought a new Nomads for the 905 along with them. Boom! I stopped in for lunch, as they're hours recently changed to accommodate lunches and was more than happy to see the place empty so that I could have my choice of seats. Ironically enough I took my favourite seat for one - the bar! Contrary to other comments I really liked the design here. Yes it is black, but being an amateur hobby carpenter myself I really appreciated how the black was merely the canvas for several intricate wood displays and shelves and a gorgeous bar backed with neon and subway tile. My Fab5 design alarm was going off like crazy because I loved how this place turned out so much, even how they turned the front windows into useable booth space - YASSSSS She's on fire! Now enough about the decor, let's chew the fat about the menu! Both of them actually, food and beverages. Safe to say looking at the Cocktail options at NOMADS that craft cocktails now have another home in Port Credit, making this one of the best strips in the 905 for proper mixed craft cocktails! I went for the Naked and Famous which was a refreshing summer time cocktail with Aperol, Mexcal, cherry liquor, and lime juice, all served in a coup glass (small martini), just enough tartness to match the sweet and blend the 1-2-3 punch of three kinds of booze. I tried to discuss the economics of getting the bartender to just make a pitcher of this for me next time I was in and while a good idea it apparently violates Ontario liquor laws... blah blah blah.... awww shucks! It's ok I'll just have to come back and order 7 Naked and Famous' all on my own.... but then I might end up Naked and Infamous on CP24 soooo maybe just one at a time for now. But TLDR, it's an amazing cocktail and you should try it! The food! I went with the Cubano, and THANK GOD! Finally a place that's doing it right with slow roasted pork sliced nice and thick. In the past year I've had a Cubano with pulled pork (yuck), another with peamale bacon (why) and a third with a sliced pork chop (SERIOUSLY, YOU'RE NOT EVEN TRYING NOW). Between the Yucca fries served with a Peruvian pepper sauce and the Cubano which was perfectly moist inside and crispy on the outside, I was stuffed, and happy! Well Finally! This was one of my favorite places on the Danforth and now it's moved closer to home! Took a while for them to get started but it was well worth the wait. Great new menu and some old classics as well! Eclectic and lots of choices..hence the name Nomads. Drinks are made by top notch Bartenders and the choices will please anyone. Overpriced "World-inspired" food with a push on alcoholic beverages. My rating would've been lower if my Cubano didn't taste as good or was as big. Waiter was new, but he was helpful and pleasant, so also helping with the rating. Atmosphere: Despite being newly renovated, the interior is not really impressive. Other than spending money on black paint, it doesn't look as though too much money was spent elsewhere (tables, chairs, cutlery, etc). Restrooms are unisex. Exterior looks better than interior. Music was fairly loud, so don't expect to have a deep convo here! Menu: Inspired by International cuisine, there are various ethnicities represented on the menu. Would I pay $12 for guac, $17 for Korean short ribs, $16 (??!!) for Chana Masala? Definitely NOT! However, that doesn't mean others won't. Piri Piri Chicken - $18, other than piri piri sauce that was slightly tart taste of red bell peppers, chicken itself was completely bland. I don't think chicken was brined or marinated at all. The roasted potatoes were replaced by yucca. It just seemed like the kitchen was taking a short-cut here. Cubano - $16, good portion (I only ate half), both sandwich and yucca fries were good. Correction to my original review: Online menu states "slow roast pork", but it looked like pork belly that they'd use for the Baos. I ordered the tuna sushi after seeing the pictures on their website and getting a recommendation from the server... unfortunately there was no tuna in the sushi. I took a picture of the largest peices of tuna in the sushi I could find... came home hungry. Shouldn't put items on website or menu if the chef/staff can't replicate it. Nomads is definitely getting a 5 star review. Came here on a Thursday evening, wasn't too busy. Got seated right away. I found the restaurant very welcoming, crowd varied in age and service was attentive. My friend and I ordered: Sushi: Spicy Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber, Red Pepper, Teriyaki Sauce. $16 Cauliflower Pakora: Cauliflower Fritters and Red Onion. Served with Cilantro Chutney. $12 Steamed Bao Buns: Steamed Buns, Five Spice Pork Belly, Pickled Cucumbers, Red Onion, Cilantro. $16 The Sushi was delicious, would order again. Although, I wish there was more tuna and less rice. The Cauliflower Pakora was good, but the BEST part was the Cilantro Chutney. That Chutney definitely enhanced the flavour of the dish. I didn't really enjoy the cauliflower alone. The Steamed Bao Buns were OK. I'm actually a tad bit disappointed because I LOVE Bao Buns. The steamed bun itself was delicious. The lack of pork belly was a disappointment. There's a picture on here that shows a nice thick piece of pork belly, which is what I expected. When the dish got delivered, you could barely see the pork belly. On top of that, the onions were cut way too thick which was really over powering. I would order this dish again with hopes of a nice piece of pork belly in the middle. So in conclusion, I would definitely visit again as there are other dishes on the menu that I would love to try. 5 stars is due to the great service and great food. We made a reservation and had some minor issues confirming it. On the day we went, I received 2 texts and a phone call confirming our reservation. After the 2 texts I called to delay the reservation by 30min which they said was fine. Then I received a call asking if my reservation was ever confirmed. Somewhat confusing but friendly, personable staff. Upon arrival I asked for the window table which they gave us. Knowing they were expecting 2 large parties a little later I was impressed they let us have that table even though there was just 4 of us. The menu is eclectic and we just ordered off the shareable items side. The portions were large and we left stuffed. We had guacamole, yuca fries, cauliflower pakoras, shrimp tacos and bison burgers. There is a bar and the atmosphere is casual and trendy. I suggest you try it. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint.. There are 4-5 gender neutral washrooms as well. read more

Came here on a whim since my friend & I were walking down the Port Credit strip and saw that it was poppin' on a Friday night! //FOOD & DRINKS// The food menu looked super diverse and drew from many cultures...from Indian Pakoras to Argentinian steak. The cocktail drinks were STRONG, which was appreciated since they costed $15-$20! //THE ATMOSPHERE// Loved the crowd! Great for people in their mid-20's. Great place! Tried it around 9pm on a Sunday night. It was quiet but livened up right away. Apparently they have karaoke at 10pm on Sundays. We had a few of their shareables; the yuca fries, sushi and steamed bao buns. All food was perfect! Fries were crispy, sushi was of a good size and tasty, and the bao buns were yummy and filling. We also got a few beers and the Georgia Peach cocktail which was on point. Couple big TVs here around the bar to easily watch sports on and inexpensive parking was easily found around the block. Have been here four times already and I've never had a bad experience. The only thing I'd recommend is that if you're looking for a nice night out to socialize with friends, come for dinner and not after 9 on a Summer night Thurs-Sat when their DJ is spinning. It gets way too loud and crowded. But if you do come on a regular evening, you're bound to be pleased with their amazing service, drink selection and quality of food. I have ordered the fish tacos, tuna tartar, sushi plate, charcuterie boards and cauliflower curry. Everything is absolutely amazing! Drink-wise, the Moscow mule is spicy and sweet, the Coco Chanel makes you feel posh and their wine selection is great. Came here after Ribfest with some fellow Yelpers for a couple more drinks since the night was still young. We didn't actually eat as we all just literally rolled out of Ribfest holding our bellies. This place is hip and trendy with a really great selection of alcohol. The prices are very reasonable for their cocktails and liquor. Around 10:00 pm it started to get busy and beats were bumping and I noticed that there was also a live DJ playing tunes. Cool spot to hang out and have drinks and listen to music but not quite to the point it turns into a night club. Next time I need to give their food a try. read more

I was so excited to try this spot as I've been eyeing it for awhile... we were seated promptly but unfortunately they were out of lots of items like the Cubano, the calamari, change to the Bao .... we promptly ordered yucca fries, the tacos and the bao buns. Our yucca fries were yummy and arrived within an expected time but our main meals took forever to arrive and when they did, we were not impressed. The chicken in my bao buns were super thin and small and dry. I was not impressed. It was then squirted with some sauce and a couple of cucumbers and sesame seeds, my husbands tacos were just meh. Made online reservations for a party of 8 on a Monday ...received emailed confirmation shortly and got to the place to see a table ready for us. The staff was helpful, not pushy and the service was efficient. We ordered mostly shareables, which were pretty generous portions. I have to say, I liked pretty much everything I tried. The arancini on a bed of some yummy sauce, the short ribs with kimchi , the yuca fries (very generous portion) was yummy but needed to be cored to take out some of the veins left behind, ceviche was a bit more acidic than I usually like but the crunch of the pickled onions on top made it a nice bite. The bison sliders were delish! My friends also tried the shrimp fried rice and some salad and everyone enjoyed their meal. We went on a Monday night and it was pretty quiet, only a few people at 8pm but more started filing in as we were leaving at 10.30....this place is open till 2am and I'm told it gets pretty rowdy later on! I strongly recommend not ever going here! The staff are extremely unprofessional and rude. The manager doesn't understand the concept that his customers should come first. On multiple occasions with many of my friends and myself he has chosen to make his customers unhappy to please a bartender or the bouncer. The bouncer at the front is just a power trip and enjoys turning people down when they're completely sober. The prices are way overpriced for what you get. Food takes forever and isn't good! This is my new favourite spot in Port Credit, which is something to say as PC has some really good spots. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming and have always recommended great food and drink choices for me to try. I do now have my fav dishes which is the ceviche and I always follow it up with the Carne Asada with chimchurri sauce . They have DJs in regularly. After a certain time it becomes more of a lounge, with a really cool vibe. It's consistently busy which I enjoy for meeting new people. I find that groups usually melt together at tables and strangers become friends, that been my experience anyway. If you like bourbon based drinks try the El Gaucho! If you are in the Neighbourhood I highly recommend stopping into this resto/bar! Ask for Cormac/Conrad (cant remember his name for the life of me) but he's the bees knees! Decided to bring my friend here after a decent experience a few months back. Checked it out on a Tuesday and found there to be just a few tables. Service was slow (took 15 mins to get a drink order in) and I guess we weren't as entertaining as the servers buddies who were hanging out on the patio. We ordered the chicken and waffles, Korean ribs and risotto balls. I thought maybe they had they part time chef working or something but their food was a complete disappointment. The Korean ribs were over cooked / burnt. It would not fly past a quality check. The chicken and waffle was ok at best but they were def a lot better the last time I was in. It would've been nice if the servers gave a shit about their job. This place is not what it used to be. read more
