Good Local Spot with Good Food & Live Music! Stopped by Tim Finnegan's for dinner before the band started -- always fascinating when someone on stage has a totally different day job! In this case, it was Robert Watson (professor, author, and historian from Boca Raton), which made the night even more interesting. It was my first time at this local hangout, and it didn't disappoint. I had a fantastic blackened salmon -- perfectly cooked and full of flavor. One friend had the classic corned beef and cabbage with a side salad, another went with fish and chips. We paired it all with some Guinness, Tito's & soda, and ended the night with some dessert. The music was loud (as it should be for a live band!), so we moved outside to enjoy dessert and catch up a bit more. We all had the fish and chips which was delicious. The cod was cooked in a light beer batter and complemented the taste of the fish. we've had multiple experiences at TF's and have never been disappointed. I've driven past this place on the east side of Federal in south Delray so many times, but today I intentionally drove out there for lunch. BTW if you are looking for live music, it starts at eight o'clock. We started with Sausage Rolls. Finnegans uses puff pastry wrapped around actual bangers in their's, and served with a bowl of a dark onion gravy to dip it in. They were quite flavorful and good. My wife had the Beet and Goatcheese salad with blacked chicken added. She really liked the salad, but loved the fried pad of goat cheese that topped it. It was a pleasant textural surprise. I chose the Guinness Beef and Lamb Stew, topped with puff pastry and mashed potatoes. It was appealing to eye, using a rosemary spring as a tree on Mount Mashed Potatoes, as it was on the tastebuds. For dessert we tried the bread pudding. It was pretty good, just a tad dry. We both liked it. I would definitely come back, for lunch or dinner. read more

If you are looking for a pub to go, drink out and watch a game then maybe this could be a nice experience just don't go for a meal out. The service was slow. The floors are always very sticky and the food was served was not appealing. Having lived in the UK for many years we tried to visit the location on several occasions. Always it is a process to try to find someone to be seated. And finally when we did eat there, the tables were very sticky, which the server said they would send someone out. We went to Tim Finnegan's for New Year's Eve, which we had done previously. While the food is always delicious, we were surprised that there were no Irish items on the special New Year's Eve menu. I cannot say enough about Tim Finnegans ! This establishment has amazing service. From the time we entered in we were greeted and asked where we would like to sit and what type of table preference we had, who asks that? Considerate hostess staff that's who ask that .... also they recognized we weren't a regular patron and asked if we were one of the attendants to the reserved party; quick thinking but no thank you. We sat at the bar our preferred seating and ordered cocktails and appetizers both were amazing. I was so impressed by the appetizer I was excited for the dinner entre. We ordered the fish/chips a classic for an Irish pub and meatloaf the second classic. I don't have words for the amazing texture and gravy of the meatloaf it was far beyond 5 star, The fish and chips we were told had famous chef's asking for the recipe and after tasting it we had no doubt the story was true. The atmosphere is friendly, the regulars strike up conversation easily and when the live music starts you are in for a treat. We came here on a Sunday afternoon. Vibe kinda seemed like an "older" person Irish pub. It wasn't busy and the bartender seemed to also be the waitress. She was very nice and quick considering she was managing the bar and tables. So impressed with her customer service. We ordered the fish sandwich and fish and chips platter with a side of curry! Food was delicious. There was an older group in the back maybe practicing for a irish kinda band? I would let them get on stage and practice instead of playing music on the speakers and them playing in the way back. They were all so cute! An Irish pub with a big bar, lots of tables an Irish fare. We came on a Friday night and enjoyed listening to the live music. It's sort of reminded me of a college bar, With college music and a crowd 60+. Very colorful! We went with another couple and had a comfortable table and great service. Our waitress was on top of everything, our food came out quickly our glasses were refilled and she couldn't do enough for us. I enjoyed my corned beef plate and instead of cabbage had lots of vegetables. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips. We stopped here hot lunch today. They weren't very busy, and we joined a few other folks sitting at the bar. I ordered their Guinness stew. It's beef and lamb in a wonderfully delicious brown sauce. It came with a mound of mashed potatoes on the side and topped with a square of flaky puff pastry. I'd get this again in a heartbeat. My husband had an ice cold harps beer to start. Then he had their bangers and mash. He also added an order of bread and butter on the side. The portion was huge and he ate it all. He really liked it, but said my stew would the next thing he'd try e we hen he came back. The place is quite large inside. On the weekends they have a brunch menu and also serve unlimited Mimosas and Bloody Mary's. They have events -- like a karaoke night, bingo night, et al. I chose the Bangers and Mash which was served piping hot with brown gravy and grilled onions on top. The sausages were two fat tasty rolls of goodness on top of a bed of mashed potatoes and plenty of brown gravy. My ice cold Harps was just the right beer to pair with my Bangers too! My wife had the Lamb Stew with mashed potatoes, a puffed pastry square and some of the most delicious Guinness Brown gravy, (the kind of rich Guiness gravy you want to order a pint of to drink!), and some very tender and moist lamb chunks throughout her stew. 10 pm Saturday in hot summers evening very quiet but open for typical "Irish" food ( scotch eggs anyone?) and genuine good welcome from multiple members of the staff. Some sort of New Jersey based trio entertaining small crowd. If they were not there it would be very quiet for a Saturday night. Place looked clean and large with small outdoor area in shabby looking office complex. Guinness excellent as was the Sauvignon wine ( always a worry in Irish bars). Lobster bisque good. Skins just right and bangers and mash just that. They had the legendary scotch eggs and sausage rolls at much lower price than the Blue Anchor on Del Ray strip but this was on Federal Highway between car showrooms. A very large pub Which is nice if you're there to relax and enjoy a yummy and huge! Lunch/ dinner. Grab a refreshing beer and some hangover curing food. All entrees are definitely large enough to share! The bangers and mash is hot and beautifully plated. Large cup of potato and leek soup is perfect for a quick lunch and not as heavy as some of the other dishes. Everything I tried was incredible. Come for a football game or any other sport really. When I came for lunch there was rugby on and many watching the game for a fun event. Service is fast and creates a relaxing environment. Come for a ice cold beer, leave with a full tummy. Interesting experience for dinner on a Friday evening. We walked in and didn't see a hostess so we asked a server if we should sit anywhere. She somewhat rudely said no and asked if we had a reservation. We said no as we didn't think it was required. There were people sitting at the bar and a few tables seated inside but definitely not crowded. We were walked to the back of the restaurant by their poker table which I guess they have gambling in the evening as the men were tossing $5 bills onto the table after recieving their cards. Since it was barely 6pm, the music had not started yet so the ambiance was pretty quiet and the unfriendly woman that sat us was now our server. Luckily she had a better grasp on taking our food and drink orders than she did at welcoming us into the place. The menu had a good variety and we made some tasty choices. I ordered the Corned Beef Sandwich which was hand cut and piled high on fresh rye bread. The French Fries were awesome. Super crunchy and not overly greasy. My friend ordered the Corned Beef and Cabbage which was also piled high on top of a large boiled new potato and steamed carrots. Healthy choice as she got the cream sauce on the side but everything got dipped in that sauce! Her boyfriend ordered the Fish and Chips which came with 2 almost foot long pieces of fried fish and fries. Lastly my husband ordered the Shepherds Pie and the portion was huge. Simple yet delicious. The only slight miss was the soup of the day which was a Lobster Bisque. Only because we were talking about a recent trip to Boston for lobsters, inspired our friend to order it. Think of a pub near your college over 40 years later and the crowd makes you feel like you're going back then. The food was also like an Irish pub. We were with another couple and got a table away from the bar area. I enjoyed my fish and chips. My wife ordered the corn beef and vegetables. It was good. Generous portions for this as well as the bread pudding dessert that my wife and I shared. The bread pudding was OK, certainly nothing special. It must be a good place to go to for St Patrick's Day. I like this bar! It has some personality, maybe it's the décor, but it is a different place than the usual So-Fla bar chains. We were at the bar and only had fries so can't talk about the food. They have a good choice of draft beers and that's the main thing for an Irish pub. Talking about Irish, why no Irish pub around here ever plays some Irish music? The music was just off with the place, anyways... Service was good and we learnt they have live music and poker tournaments regularly. I am not often around this area, but I will go back again when nearby, nice place to relax with a few good beers. By the way, Tim Finnegan's is located on US1 north of Lindell Blvd. This is an area where you can TVF- which is how I named what my wife and I do sometimes: Travelling via Food. So, around here, actually in the same shopping center, you can go have an Italian pastry for breakfast at Grelma's Bakery with a solid espresso. Have been anxious to come here for awhile so dropped things we did and out the door we fled to the finest pub we'd been to since leaving Vegas! The grub today was a cut down menu from their usual to get ready for the big day ahead. I ordered fish and chips minus chips just extra cole slaw the fish was awesome crispy and the inside fish was white and flaky. The cole slaw was fresh and not heavy on the mayo. Hubby had the shepherds pie - yum! I also had my favorite drink Irish coffee with Baileys made to perfection!!!! Live entertainment was playing outdoors. Since the drink meant more to me than the food, hic, I took home leftovers and not a drop was left in my glass. Now that I have shown you my weakness you know where I'll be hanging out.
