I hadn't been to Nomura in a while and last week I dropped off some clothes to be dry cleaned. I didn't see the familiar faces I used to, but I didn't think much about it. I picked up my clothes a few days ago and to my horror, they ruined my black pants and also my winter coat! Now I see that they are under new management and I'm sad to say that I will never go back! I liked the old owner and his wife. I never had a problem before and she did a great job with alterations. That's unfortunate that the new owners cannot keep up with the quality of service. Beyond upset. I drop my shirt off at 10am. I tell the guy it's clean, just need it pressed and needed it the same day. Obviously he was NOT listening and said come back at 3-4p.m. so I went back to pick up my shirt. It was sitting at the bottom of a pile, wrinkled like crazy and the guy couldn't even find it. It was in the same place he put it this morning. I'm beyond upset and irritated and I'm sure their going to complain about this review and ask for it to be taken down. The fact of the matter is your just another number here. No actual "Personal Service" which is LOST in this day and age. They charged me more and used safety pins for my pants, which made me really mad. I am naive. I was hoping that I would be able to find a great place in the South Bay that was cost effective and good quality. However, that's an impossible task. All the places in Manhattan Beach and other beach cities are over priced. (Please message me if you believe I am wrong. I'd love to know somewhere better that I'm not aware of.) After the place in Hancock Park raised their prices in the last 6 months, the drive there to just pickup and drop off dry cleaning was too much. Nomura has been my go to place since the spring and they've been decent. The prices aren't the highest and the quality is acceptable. They haven't accidentally destroyed or lost anything and the quality is high for Gardena. Because most of my work clothes is dry clean only, it's one of those expenses I can't get away from. This place is worth a try. If someone terrible happens, I'll be sure to update this review. Oct 2017 Review: This place is centrally located in Gardena. Owners are Japanese (?) and everything is organized. The prices are a bit high, almost everything is over $5 to dry clean. Men's shirts, which is usually around a dollar at other places are over $2 here. It is close to where I live but not sure I can afford it. Cost adds up very quickly when it's about $6 a piece. I'm an avid yelper but I rarely take the time to write reviews unless I feel very strongly about a certain establishment. May family and I have been going to Nomura for years. They're terrific! I've used other dry cleaners in the past but the owner at Nomura goes above and beyond. He's so knowledgeable and really nice. We've taken everything from cotton bedding to silk blouses and they've always turned out great. There is another dry cleaner nearby who ruined one of my favorite pair of dress pants a while back. Of course when I called them on it they said it must have come in like that and refused to take any responsibility. What???? If I had taken them in like that, wouldn't they have noticed all the oil splatter looking stains all over the legs when I dropped them off?! Obviously, they lost my business. I avoided this place for many months because I heard that Rocket Cleaners was the place to go. I recently decided to give this place. It was an amazing experience! Do not judge this place by its outside appearance. When you walk in the door you will see a very neat and clean shop with smiling faces. It's a night and day difference. Service was given with a smile. My clothes were returned to me fresh and clean and I left feeling satisfied with my experience. My tie even came in this cute little package and all of my clothes were displayed proudly on a coat hanger that said, "We [heart] our customers" It honestly made me feel good. One thing that left me a little be gobsmacked was their pricing. It might be a little more expensive than others. I left paying $18 for a jacket, pants, and three shirts I think. Sadly this cleaners ruined my dress. Whatever they used to clean the dress was still on the dress and soaked the paper that covered the hanger. It made portions of the fabric so thin you could see through it. When we took it back, they would not cover any costs. They wouldn't cover the cost of the dress or even the cost of the cleaning!
