We were a group of 10 looking for a last-minute dinner spot, and a coworker mentioned they had eaten at Tre Trattoria the night before and enjoyed it. So we went online and made a reservation. Upon arrival, we had a large round table set for 10 ready for us. Our waiter, Rami, was really nice and worked hard all evening to take good care of us. The restaurant itself is along a quiet area of the River Walk in an old stone building with tons of charm. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, perfect for a group dinner. As for the food, it was good but not exceptional. I was excited for the Goat Cheese Pizza with balsamic onion, pistachio, and saba. The thin crust, however, was almost too crunchy and a bit tough to eat. The toppings didn't stand out as much as I had hoped, likely because they were overbaked together. Overall, we had a lovely dinner with great service, a charming atmosphere, and good - but not great - food. 4 stars for now. I would return and try again. read more

Came here for a Valentines day 5 course meal and was deeply dissapointed by the service. We arrived late 3 minutes outside of our reservation grace time so we had to wait outside for a while (this part was fair). However we realized quickly EVERYONE was waiting outside and they had clearly overbooked or had some issue. Finally, after waiting 20 minutes we were sat. The waittress was kind and let us know the kitchen was having some issues so food would be a little delayed between courses. It was about 60 degrees outside and we kindly asked to turn off the outside fans which were on full blast. Once. Then again, and again, and again. After 5 attempts asking various people we gave up and the waitress let us know she couldnt turn them off because their iPad control died. We werent upset at this we were just upset we kept getting different answers and no explanation for our entire 2+ hr meal. We finished the entree and were waiting for the dessert for about 15 minutes until we finally just flagged down a waittress and asked to get the check and desert to go because we were ready to leave. We waited another 10 minutes before someone else brought us our desert but no check. We asked them for the check and then the original waitress came back with our check and another set of deserts. At some point I saw another server who seemed like the manager or supervisor telling another worker to straighten the tables outside so the corners were aligned... needless to say the table alignment was not the issue. Overall just seemed like the restaurant was overwhelmed and there wasn't alot of communication between tables and the staff. It seems the staff was trying their best but the management wasn't handling it well. Would have appreciated more effort into making sure we were taken care of considering the meal for 2 totaled almost 300$. The only reason this isn't a one star is because of the kind waiting staff. read more

Tucked behind the museum of art, it's the kinda place hoping the weather is nice enough for you to sit outside overlooking the river, which is exactly what my wife and I did a couple weeks ago. But this was not my first time here. My wife and I visited a few years ago. So, with my "yelp cardinal rule" satisfied (try and go somewhere twice before reviewing), here I go! Had I reviewed our first visit, it would have been a solid 3 stars. Everything was fine, it just wasn't an experience I'd "write home about". Nothing particularly bad or off putting, but also nothing incredible. This most recent visit was better, however, despite service being a tad spotty. It also felt rushed, but we did arrive within an hour of closing. We started our meal with the fresh mozzarella and I highly recommend it. Just cheese and perfectly toasted bread? Yes, please. For dinner, I opted for the wagyu meatballs ( Wednesday night special) and I would definitely go back for them. My wife had something with truffle. I can say our second visited was better than the first and I wouldn't mind going back. Do yourself a favor and bookmark this place on your "date night ideas" list. My boyfriend and I come here every year on our anniversary and each time we are just blown away by how delicious everything always is. We usually also get the same thing each time because it's so good. The seasonal cheese and salumi board is what does it for us every time because it's amazing. We also order, The campanelle bolognese and we sub the pasta for gnocchi, absolutely DELICIOUS. The view of the river walk is very beautiful. The only thing about this visit is that it took about 15 mins before our waiter ever came to our table, which i don't really appreciate, but other than that, great experience here as always! This restaurant is beautifully nestled next to the Riverwalk and next to the museum. The ambiance is always so nice for outdoor seating, Our waitress was friendly,prompt and nice. Our foods came out quite quickly. The deviled eggs had a fluff of shredded cheese on top which was really delicious especially since it was truffle cheese it made the eggs have more depth. The Caesar salad came out with our entree since we chose not to add a side since we weren't terribly hungry but it made our plate look empty. The Caesar salad was plentiful and was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed it! The crispy skin trout was delicious as always and as perfectly cooked. It has been over 5 years ago when we last came to enjoy the food and Id say they are still quite consistent. A solid 4 stars. Attended a Bridal brunch. And what a Treat! We were catered to fro. The 2nd we walked through the entrance. Offerings: the ~Claire Cocktail: forgot what all was in it but was a rum based cocktail I did not partake but it sounded Fabulous, Coffee, Tea, etc. the started with their mouthwatering Garlic Bread Basket w/butter. This is by far my favorite restaurant in San Antonio. I like great food, wine, and atmosphere. This place checks all the boxes. The "atmosphere" that is required to be considered "great" to me is intimate, private, and significant, relevant, and unique to its environment. This is full-on San Antonio...on the river, at the museum of art, not overly sophisticated but simply elegant, historically preserved, perfectly decorated. Do not forget...one of the best chefs in our city and divine dishes that have stood the test of time...my favorites are the beet salad, or ask for the trio. They have the BEST pizza I've ever had. I don't even understand how it is so much better than any other pizza, but it is. It would be a shame to get only a pizza because there's so many great pasta dishes, fish, etc...but do NOT miss the Nutella dessert. I don't like Nutella, but this is not like you'd think. Went here last august to have a casual dinner. I loved the truffle oil on the deviled eggs. At the time it was really hot and the store's AC was not at all great. Food though, was good. The "risotto" was far from what an actual risotto actually is. It was seasoned rice with mushrooms and sour cream on top. If you happened to get a bite without the sour cream it was dry. Service: the service was great, the waiter was attentive and came by frequently. Very well mannered. I like the warm family style atmosphere. This restaurant is located behind the SA Art Museum and overlooking the Riverwalk. Great atmosphere for an intimate dining experience. I was there with four other adults for dinner. Series's nice. However the food was hit and miss. My friend said his house salad had way too much vinegar and someone else found her pasta dish salty. Starting right off the bat, let's just get it out of the way, extremely hard to find. Maps just drops you right at the museum entrance so we had to call the restaurant to figure out where we needed to go. It's mostly all sort of one big open concept area including the kitchen so it can feel a teensie bit hot on the kitchen half. There's also only 1 shareable bathroom for everyone in the restaurant. So much of the food was delicious. I'm still thinking about the current seasonal soup. It was some kind of puréed white bean soup. Needed to be a tiny bit hotter but if I was a local I would absolutely be going there just to place a to go order for soup on the regular. For me, the fish taste on the Cesar salad was slightly overpowering. As someone that doesn't like fish, that part was off putting to me. The pizza was phenomenal, carrots were amazing, drinks were delicious. The deviled eggs were also very nice. Service staff was super friendly though some things were missed when we first placed the order and we waited quite a while for the soup which ended up not being hot enough. Overall if I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely consider returning and trying some other items. read more

My husband and I have been big fans of Jason Dady and his team for years, but having them be part of our special day made it even more meaningful. Everything was fantastic--Gia, Sebastian, and Kat were so attentive, sweet, courteous, and gracious from start to finish. The food was outstanding, and the courses came out of the kitchen like an orchestrated symphony. Service was mediocre, which is a bummer. It was a full house that day and our server was rarely around for us to ask for a water refill or when we were waiting to get the check. Overall, our server was very friendly when he was there, provided recommendations. We got the white truffle cauliflower and panchetta artichoke gnocchi pasta. Both had very different flavor profiles! I would say the white truffle had a lot of richness to it from the truffle, so you may have a few bites and be tired of it or satisfied. On the other hand, the gnocchi pasta that was seared was very balanced in flavor- the panchetta adds this necessary savoriness to balance the acidity of the artichoke and nuttiness of the pine nuts! The artichoke is a much needed ingredient in this pasta dish! We could not finish the pasta as it was very filling and rich! But we got leftovers which I'm never mad about! Pasta is cooked al dente! Parked across SAMA and you do have to pay for parking. It stinks that there isn't an option to pay for 1-2 hrs of parking and they don't validate. Not sure if I would come again. Been coming to Tre for 20 years across multiple locations. Sadly, today is likely the last. Mother's Day staff was not up to par. Drinks left empty, ice tea with ice all bit melted, old fashioneds with white sugar just chilling in the bottom with mid cherries and no mottling. Food was mid at best. Cheesecake with a brûlée top sounds amazing. Not sure how they took a concept like that and made it so bland. To top it off, because the waitress was so slow I didn't order my coffee until right before the deserts came to avoid drinking cold coffee. All of the sweetener packets were soggy. The sugar packets were basically a gel. As I had no way to know what the liquid was, I opted for no coffee. To close things out, even though the deserts were 1/2 gone when the coffee came (I'll own that one), all 4 water glasses 1 tea glass and 2 wince glasses were all empty. The waitress dropped off the coffee and soggy packets without taking a single glass away. All in all, teribble service, mid food, for top prices. Very disappointing. read more

This is my first time patronizing this Italian restaurant although I have wondered if they were any good amidst its backdrop of sunsets on the Riverwalk. The restaurant was right by the San Antonio Museum of Art and opposite the Japanese restaurant which I have yet to try. The service was great and they direct you to restrooms and back to table very respectfully by way of word. Sat at a nice table by the windows overlooking a large oak tree. The recommendations for seafood was the only FISH dish they had and I ordered it. The server recommended the wine and dish of carrots to go with it. So it's a little hidden in that it is behind the art museum, and you have to walk through these gates on the side to get to it. The walk is very enjoyable and let me tell you the VIEWS on the patio are exceptional. Our server was great and talked us through the menu a bit and gave some good recommendations. I absolutely love this restaurant and I cannot believe that I waited as long as I have to try it! The food was fabulous! The service was a smidge slow, but I do feel as if our server was in charge of the entire outdoor area, so he was doing his best and he was spot on with all recommendations and he checked in on us regularly. The bruschetta was composed of perfectly crisp bread, vine ripe tomorrows and fragrant basil. The bolognese was made he BEST I've ever had. Perfect size, perfectly cooked pasta and perfect sauce to meat to pasta ratio. The fresh Parmesan on top was the cherry on top. I will be coming back sooner than later. The ambiance was PERFECT on the patio. They had fans, a beautiful view of the riverwalk and the sun set in the background made for a beautiful night. You deserve this. Go to Tre Trattoria for dinner. Outdoor seating is abundant and spacious. The view of the river is stunning. I chose to eat inside at the bar because I just walked 1.5 miles along the river to get here. Chris was the bartender and he was delightful. I went with his recommendation for the crunchy skun trout for lunch ($19) and I'm glad I did. Lunch is a la carte so I added a farrow salad that was doused with parmesan cheese that was light and refreshing. It had hints of walnut that complemented the parm. This is the perfect place to eat if you're visiting the SAMA as it's basically colocated. read more

Usually my go to but I love risotto and wanted to try it. It was very undercooked. It was chewy and had a lot of runoff liquid I'm not accustomed to with any other risotto's I have had. I did end up getting one drink and sharing a pizza. The food was alright, but for the price I've had much better pizza. The location is also very hard to find. The ambiance was really cute - it felt like you could actually be in Italy with the way everything was decorated inside with the wood and foliage. I also loved the outdoor seating area overlooking the Riverwalk. I also thought it was very well priced for good quality pasta. I also got a gin and tonic and was happy with it. Our server was super nice and checked in on us and made sure we were taken care of. We also got a bunch of appetizers like the burrata and the bruschetta and the deviled eggs and all of them were 15/10. The deviled eggs were probably my favorite appetizer. Tried a little bit of everyone else's dishes like the bolognese, another pasta dish, and a pizza, and everything was sooo good. I can't recommend going here enough. The worse part of the meal was the service. The server, although seem pleasant, was pretty clueless, not sure if new or just having a bad day. I ordered a 2nd glass of wine and never got it (it was not that busy). She brought me the check without me asking for her; or her offering dessert. I was basically kicked out. She apologized but it was already too late. Food was mediocre and the service didn't make the experience any better.
