I wanted to find someway to fault this place. Italian food is hard to mess up, so I thought hard.. I got nothing. We started with a lemon chicken soup that blew me away. The lemon flavor was light and fresh. It warmed my soul and left me feeling ready for a meal. Great way to start. I got pizza. It was maybe one of the best stone oven artisan pies I've had. Crust was absolutely perfect. Churchy, nice chew, not soggy. Sauce was a nice marinara that didn't skip on flavor! So fresh, amazing herby flavor. Fresh morsels melted perfectly. I ate the whole pie on my own. Couldn't stop. I've never been so full. Colleagues had pasta and both said it was easily the best they've had in the NE. Yeah, lemonade was from a fountain and sucked. Yeah, decor is meh. But having a meal like this with a friendly, fast server who made amazing recommendations and worked so hard to make sure we were happy deserves nothing but 5 stars. read more

we met another couple here for lunch. we drive from the North Shore of Massachusetts while the other couple drove from northern Vermont. we were seated quickly, ordered from the friendly waitstaff and awaited our Antipasto appetizer. it was fresh and easily satisfied the four of us. Their house made pasta to order is outstanding. whatever you want, from thin spaghetti to Tagliatelle. they have it all. choose your pasta, sauce and additional topping like meatballs( homemade and very tasty). For my first visit I have to say everything was delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and classy. I had the moussaka and cheesecake. Do not let your preconceived notion about dense cheesecake fool you. First time trying tonight and absolutely will not be the last. Ordered the garlic wings and a meatball parm pasta with linguine. Wings were fried perfectly with a light splattering of a creamy garlic sauce. My one gripe is that the wings aren't completely tossed in the garlic sauce, I'd probably ask for an additional side of sauce to add myself the next time. Meatball parm pasta was awesome, incredibly tender meatballs with perfectly cooked linguine. Red sauce cooked with slivered garlic straight out of Goodfellas, not too sweet. Nonna's feels like a restaurant slightly out of time, in the best way possible. Gotta try the pizza next, smelled like great pizza when I walked in. Friendly service Roof top dining, fresh homemade pasta. Booths and tables on the main floor. Had the haddock parmigiana and the Lagan a. Both were fresh and hot. Had a mixed salad and Cesare salad lots of ptarmigan cheese. Salads were ample but add ons to the entree. They serve bread with the entree as a garnish and charge extra with the salad. The sauce was very sweet like someone accidentally dumped too much sugar in the sauce. In talking to the waitress, this is the way they like it. read more

I'll preface my review by saying I really wanted to like this establishment...has a lot going for it, but some changes are drastically needed A lot smaller inside than the photos eluded to, homey atmosphere . We had planned on sitting outdoors on the upper deck, however the rain gods weren't cooperative...took a table inside.....it was freezing. Our server was young and obviously inexperienced, but tried his best. There was a young woman on duty (Saturday at 5) who was totally amazing. Onto the food Ordered the meatball appetizer...we were served 3 tasty meatballs, quite tasty in a thin tomato sauce, chunks of tomatoes and garlic, slightly sweet.... excellent flavor. In my part of the world meatballs simmer in the sauce all day and come piping hot. The entire dish was at room temperature, barely Luke warm... we sent it back to be reheated. Delivered with no bread to sop up the sauce, unheard of A few minutes later, our entrees and appetizers were delivered together. APPETIZERS by definition, "a small dish meant to be taken before the main course." I wanted to send them back and cancel, my companion insisted we keep the meatballs....in retrospect, a good choice since her entree proved inedible I chose the eggplant Parm and fettuccine. Have to say, the eggplant might have been some of the best I've had in a restaurant, not oily, not buried in breadcrumbs, or smothered in cheese. Delicious. The pasta was obviously fresh and appeared homemade. While I don't mind al dente, I'm not sure this fettuccine was even boiled, it was so chewy tasted raw. Onto the biggest disappointment of the night, one of the specials, braciole ( by definition a piece of round steak, pounded thin, stuffed, rolled, tied together and cooked in sauce until fork tender) This meat was thick, chewy, had never been near sauce before heating and totally inedible.. Reached out to the server who was totally unsure how to handle the situation, "I need to talk to the chef." A short while later the chef came out, apologized and offered another meal.... sorry, she didn't want her meal long after I finished mine. They "comped" us with 2 cannoli....when in fact they should have comped us the entire meal for the poor dining experience. The owner arrived as we were walking out the door, met us outside, offered his apologies, and agreed the meal was totally unacceptable. Again, the correct thing would have been to comp us for both meals ( no they did not charge for hers) I will say the pizza looked fantastic. I gave 2 stars rather than one because the meatballs and eggplant were tasty and the owner was sincere in his apologies. In we're in the area again, we'd be willing to give it another try. With so many positive reviews, it must have been an off night, although this time, probably just go for the pizza. $50 for a poor dining experience, sorry for the pun, but it leaves a poor taste in your mouth read more

We had a fabulous dinner at Nonna's Place. Two entrees, one chicken pamesan, the other veal parmesan, and a pizza, all were excellent. Everything that we ordered was perfect, we particularly enjoyed the pasta and marinara sauce. Our chicken, veal and pizza were excellent, too. Nonna's Place is a cozy, comfortable neighborhood restaurant, clean as a whistle, friendly/efficient service, and excellent food. The Italian food sure tasted Italian. Highly recommend. My group had a taste for italian and found this spot close to the downtown district. It was a pretty small place, but we were able to find a table quickly. It was pretty cold in there, it was winter, not sure what that was about. Server was pretty friendly and explained the specials. Food took quite a bit to come out, but it was piping hot. Everyone loved what they ordered and said it was very tasty. All in all, a very nice italian restaurant, great location, and really hit the spot. read more

This is the best Italian food I have ever ate in my entire life! Everything is homemade, fresh ingredients from the market, nothing frozen!! Waitstaff is friendly, knowledgeable, and everything we ordered tasted amazing. Had lunch here, we were a party of 3. Our lunches were Nonna's salad, a chicken caprese panini, and veal parm with meat sauce. So delicious! I had the salad, and it was fresh, crisp and flavorful. Standout for me was the green olives on the salad... I don't know what kind they were but they were unlike olives I've had before and were so very good! Actually might be the best salad I've had from a restaurant in a while. My companions loved their meals too. The fries that came with the panini were amazing. Veal parm with pasta was enough for lunch the next day too for my MIL. I didn't get our server's name but the young man was quick, attentive and very accommodating. There were a lot of really great reviews for Nonna's so we decided to try it out for the first time. I got spaghetti with meatballs. The pricing online did not match the pricing when I got there. Only says $12 for lasta $4 for added meatballs. i was charged 13.50 for pasta and $6.50 for added meatballs. I got 2 meatballs for 6.50. Not impressed but it happens inflation I guess whatever. So $20 later for spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread. My garlic bread was ridiculously disappointing, barely toasted tiny piece of white bread with just butter on it- nothing seemingly garlic about it at all. The meatballs and sauce were so mediocre I couldn't believe all the great reviews I had read. I mean it was okay, but inly okay, and i was looking for a really great meatball and sauce and ppl sent me this way.. Will not be returning, what a waste of $20+ read more

We found Nonna's on yelp and decided to try what we thought was a new pizza place. We arrived to find a quaint cozy atmosphere with a friendly helpful staff and humble owner. After arriving, we got mozzarella sticks which were homemade and amazing and had ourselves a rasberry wheat ufo beer and was so delicious. After eating our appetizer and watching the meals being served, we quickly changed our mind and tried the hearty cheesy and very large portion of lasagna and the scallops tomato risotto. Both were amazing! We quickly decided that we were going to try dessert and that we would bring pizza home. Tiramisu and Baklava both homemade and made by the owner's mother were sooo good. Definitely was a most pleasant find and we will absolutely be back for more! Check out the pizza we took home! Needless to say we HIGHLY recommend you try their food. We ordered a tray of lasagna and a tray of chicken cacciatore from Nonna's for a holiday party. We were so pleased with the quality and service. Both items were DELICIOUS and our guests raved about the food. We eat at the restaurant on a regular basis, and the food is always excellent. I really wanted to love Nonna's place. I've driven past so many times, and finally remembered to check it out. I love small, off the beaten path (by a few blocks) places - but I can't say that Nonna's is great. It's mixed. Service was excellent, and the food came out quickly. We ordered the lasagna and tagliatelle with marinara and meatballs. The lasagna was excellent - reminded me of my own nonna's- 5 stars. Good ratio of cheese, noodles, filling and sauce. The taglietelle was too al dente. The marinara was slightly bitter - and I found lots of leftover tomato skin after getting thru the pasta. The meatballs were fine. The tiramisu was very good While there, we saw some pizzas come out and they looked great. So we went back a few days later for a few take out pizza. Again - slightly disappointed. The crusts is very thin, and was crispy enough to break when picking up a slice. Toppings were fine - one pesto and one marinara based. But they just tasted a dry and overcooked. Overall - our visits were mixed and average. There are better pizza places within our area, and better Italian cuisine. read more

They are short staffed and food takes awhile. It smells amazing in the restaurant. My husband ordered Lasagna, it was decent, nothing noteworthy about it. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and I would not eat it again. The chicken was over cooked and chewy. So many noodles with this dish. We ordered cannolis and forgot to take a picture. It came with 3 mini cannolis. They were good but I prefer the ricotta mixture without spices. We will be back to try the pizza. read more

I've had pasta here and reviewed it in another review - but I just had a chance to try the pizza recently and it is fantastic. The crust is thin and crispy, the toppings are generous - but not TOO generous so the pizza falls apart, the sauce is really tasty, and the price for the size is very fair. The pizzas average $15 and I can split one with a friend and we're both full. I haven't had pizza this good in a while. If you're from NH, we're used to a lot of the Greek-style pizzas with the buttery and thicker crust. This isn't that. This is thin, crispy, delicious, and cooked in a brick oven. They've also just opened their roof deck, which has a dedicated bar up there. It's freaking delightful and I will be back again and again. read more
