We've been dying to try this place but due to the pandemic they have been short staffed and we'd been turned away but this time we got here earlier. We were seated quickly and waitress was very nice. Its a super tiny restaurant. We could see the chef making all the meals and were pleasantly surprised when we took our 1st bites. My pasta was perfect, chef even asked while i was eating if it was ok and if it needed anything else which it did not. My boyfriend loved his chicken dish and didn't leave a single bite. Going to St. Augustine during the festival of lights, with no reservations means you take what you can get. So we stumbles upon Nona's Trattoria and the wait was not not too bad. As always, I test any new Italian restaurant with Chicken Parmesan, which they did a good job on, although one pasta choices but nice sauce. The kitchen was just banging out what they could though on a busy night, no thought of serving a table together, and we watched our friends seated together at another table get served and finish before we saw our first plate. All Meals are $29.99 or higher. Based on their prices online, they're definitely a bait and switch restaurant. This restaurant needs to be reported to Yelp. They are mis leading tourists, by showing a cheaper menu online. When really they only offer 5 meals all $.29.99 of more. The food was good but more of a personal liking is that the "fried" stuff is too fried but it's literally what I asked for so no complaining the ambience is good as it has classical music and not to mention the service was so good it was mind blowing the food wait time was light speed although if you will get something fried just know it will be very hard so be ready to chew hard but I recommend getting spaghetti here as every touch of it is very good and romantic as the waiters offer wine and forgot to mention that the moment you enter the restaurant you get an appetizer which is awesome as you don't need to wait to order it forgot to mention the bathroom is an pedantry bathroom but the surroundings of the restaurant is very classical and I also love the fact that you can see the chefs cook in the front which is amazing and best of all the tiramisu is SO AMAZING so much that words it so 5 stars all the way no doubt read more

I have been to St. Augustine many times in my life & it is one of my favorite places... but this restaurant was by far the worst service I had ever received in this city. It was our first night in St. Augustine upon checking into our hotel & this was one of the only places still open later at night. They had very large portions of pasta, which is usually great as Italians generally like to share large entrees for meals, however, my mother & 86 year-old grandmother were not very hungry, so they planned to split a meal & the server told us she was going to charge a $7 sharing fee per entree if we tried food from another plate. We chose from the extremely simple, small menu with expensive meal prices, starting at $14.99 for fried ravioli appetizer, which tasted like frozen Kid Cuisine mozzarella sticks. My mother felt obligated to order an entree, so she threw in the ravioli last minute for her meal as the server had us feel forced to all order an expensive, larger entree. Every time we asked for something, the server pursed her lips very obviously & was laughing with the cook & other female server. My elderly grandmother asked for ONE MEATBALL & they charged $12...... I'm not here to complain on prices, but it was straight up ridiculous. I'm here to complain about the service, which I believe says a lot about a small business. At the end of our meal, we decided to order the Limoncello cake slice to split & we overheard the server making a joke back & forth with the cook about how we ordered a "small slice" of cake & they were joking that we should've ordered another. Honestly, my family & I found this extremely disrespectful & will not be returning. This is a warning to future customers that you may get made fun of by the staff in front of your face. Was expecting a great experience with great food as everyone says this is the best italian in town. The food was poor quality. Was expecting bread that was homemade or at least store bought fresh but got stale rolls soaked in olive oil and herbs. Ordered chicken alfredo and chicken piccata both were flavorless. The best part of the meal was the premeal salad. Everything else was poor. Highly recommend finding somewhere else to eat. Walking ‍ on a Friday night looking at the lights in december. Beautiful town where to eat? Every where was a 2 hour wait! But not here. The owner directed us to the line beside his establishment and said 10 minutes. The gentleman had an italian accent, to find out his two sons and him opened this restaurant. The menu was not a smorgasbord of italian dishs . Instead it was a simple menu with an assortment of entrees. The best part for an additional 7 dollars you can share. The house salad was put together well and melted in the mouth. The penne bolognese was perfect. Sauce was not to heavy and the penne was perfect. Would i recommend, absolutely! Just enjoyed another wonderful dinner at Nona's in St. Augustine. We made a point to walk by earlier in the evening to make sure they were open as we LOVED our first dinner about a month ago. Covid has taken a toll on so many little gems but Nona's seems to have staying power due to amazing food and commitment to excellence. You have to try any chicken dish on their menu. They make Chicken taste like butter! The piccata is so delicate. The chef knows how to incorporate just the right amount of capers. Tonight's hand tossed meatballs we gigantic but so incredibly fluffy! The portions are generous, service always on point. We had a chance to watch the chef from our table and you can just see the pride and attention to detail he gives every plate he sends out to his guests. For 27$ for a plate of bolognese pasta I would expect hand made pasta, or at the very least I would expect the penne to be cooked when I order it not to be reheated and to my table in under 2 minutes from ordering. The sauce is good but the pasta itself is lacking. I felt like the meal was very rushed. More like fast food than a nice dinner out as the pricing suggests.
