Pork Balsamic was absolutely delicious. Whoever made the salad was lazy; people like bite size pieces but most people do not have mouths the size of tires. Creamy garlic dressing way too sweet. Our group of 8 which included a toddler and a handicapped individual had a reservation and still had to wait a full half-hour to be seated. The host insincerely apologized without looking at anyone and comped two desserts - big whoop. I've been here before and enjoyed it very much when here for a private party - on this visit the noise level was deafening, so much so that it was difficult to speak with others seated nearby and more than myself left with a pounding headache. Entrees Were Hit or Miss and Wine List Needs Help We joined several friends here for dinner recently after not having been to the restaurant for many years. I would give the restaurant two stars based on my meal, but because others enjoyed their meals more, I felt three stars were appropriate. I had shrimp scampi and the linguine was very overcooked, there were no bread crumbs, and the sauce was very bland. My husband had the cod and clam special and the clams all arrived closed, which is not a good sign. After fighting to get two of the clam shells to open, he gave up on that. The preparation of his entree was overly "lemony" which overwhelmed all other flavors. Our friends, who love red wine, ordered a bottle after checking the wine scores of what was on the menu and sampling a couple. The wine in the bottle represented the best they could find and even then they did not finish it or take it home. Service was spotty. Bread basket was never re-filled nor were our water glasses. Based on my experience I would not recommend. read more

The interior of Nonno's is large and spacious, with high ceilings, exposed brick walls and large windows along the street side that open in the summer. They have a lovely menu. I recommend the Stuffed Eggplant rolls, Caprese salad (but only in the summer, I found it to be rather sub-par in the winter), 4-cheese pizza (pizzas are single servings) and the Bowtie Arrosto which is crumbled sausage, peppers, ricotta cheese & marinara over bowtie pasta. mmmm. The prices are fair, not cheap but not expensive either. Portions are large, i usually have enough to take home for the next day. They have a house red wine which is delicious and used to come in this huge glass for all of $4. However, on my last two visits, the price stayed the same but the amount is significantly less in the glass. The restaurant offers valet but I have never had a problem with parking on the street or in the small public lot across the street. read more

I came here for a Christmas party and prayed for death just after seeing the menu and the dumb twittering customers all over this tacky place. Any those gangsters on the wall made to look cool and aged? What is up with that? It felt like Red Lobster or Olive Garden crowds. Way overpriced and serving the easiest, quickest, laziest , highest- margin, Italian food any dumb chef can make. None of the water servers and cleanup crews speak English. Any Italian cook knows that this place serves up the easiest dishes and no challenging seafood or meat dishes. It is all easy pasta and sauces all cheesed up. The drinks are 90% ice and syrup. The only one doing any real work is the valet kid parking your car. God bless that kid for parking my car in that horrible location. I didn't pay a penny for dinner but my friends in prison eat better that what we had. Don't waste your time, get off your butt off the couch and buy a cook book from a real old Italian woman ( not the food network phonys ) and make your own tomato sauce and fresh pasta and your understand. What a disappointment Nonno Pino is! I drove back to my old neighborhood and suggested to my friends we celebrate a special occasion there. All was well, until the end of the meal. We asked the waitress if it was possible to put part of the bill on a credit card. She explained a policy, which we didn't understand, so we asked if $40 would go on the credit card in order to clarify. She snapped "Fine!", and stormed off in a huff. When she returned, we explained we were just asking for clarification, not criticizing her, and she got upset again, repeating "That's fine, that's fine, whatever". I informed the manager, who offered us a complimentary drink, but our experience was too soured to stay. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Nonno Pino's again - and I'm embarrassed for suggesting it to my friends! read more

It was just okay. My husband and I hadn't been there in a long time and really wanted to go. It have a great atmosphere. The staff is very nice. But I wish I would have ordered something else. Very good Italian food. Very classy and elegant, I really enjoyed the vibe that the waiters had. Pino puffs as an appetizer were perfect I would highly recommend and the sauce that comes with. Only problems that I have and the reasons for the 4/5 were the service was slow I felt like my party was forgot about waiting a long time for food, and I ordered the margahrita pizza and I was highly disappointed. If you know how a margahrita pizza is supposed to be made you'd agree. Other than that I had a little bit of meat loaf and the bow tie pasta and I was blown away. My husband and I ate here recently to celebrate our anniversary. The free valet is such a nice perk. The food was excellent and our waiter was helpful when we couldn't decide between two appetizers. The Pino Puffs were SOOOOOO great, and we also had the Baked Goat Cheese. The glasses of wine were generously poured. Really enjoyed our experience. The one thing that was a negative is that one of the hostesses was dressed very inappropriately in my opinion. She was young and wearing a very tight, short, black leather skirt. I'd expect something like that on a cocktail waitress in Vegas, but I don't expect to see that at a family-friendly restaurant. Went yesterday (Father;'s Day) with family, 15 of us. Service was fine, staff was friendly. Food was average at best. Had fried calamari appetizer. That was good. My salad was swimming in dressing, to the point that it was inedible (I should have gotten soup, as my brother said that that was good). My entree was the asiago crusted chicken. The service sucked. Our waitress wasn't really attentive to us overall. When asked what we'd like to order to start off with, we were told they didn't have the appetizer we wanted to order , so we asked her to come back in a few minutes. Btw, we were never informed of the "specials" of the menu. It took about 20 mins for her to come back and take our order. We kinda sat there twiddling our fingers, wondering if she's ever coming back. She wasn't attentive to us overall - during our entire dinner, she kept passing our table and didn't even bother to ask if we were doing okay or if we needed anything. I and my friends would never come back to this place again. The service was bad and the food was awful. I did not realize they had not given us any silverwares until the salads and soups came. Ok no biggy maybe they forgot. But the waitress who she said would bring another basket of bread, which we reminded her few times never brought the bread. The guy who is supposedly filling our water and taking away our used plates only cleaned parts of the table. So by the time our main meals came, there were no pace to put the food down on parts of the table and the chef was staring at the table for a sec and i just told him, could you guys take away those plates first, then we have space for our food. Ok they finally cleaned our table and put our food plates down. I ordered chicken linguine pasta with alfredo sauce. It tasted nothing like restaurant pasta. It did not have much taste and it needed more alfredo sauce. A few of my friends ordered Ribeye which is one of the most expensive meals on the menu. My friend who was sitting next to me ordered medium Ribeye, and they cooked it well done and actually almost burned it. It was same with the other Ribeye orders. I tried hers and it tasted like burned steak!!! None of us wanted to ruin the time we are spending together so my friends said their food were ok when the waitress asked how everything was. A lot of us had not seen each other for a long time and it was one of my friend's birthday so we only told the waitress afterwards if she could tell the chef how the Ribeye was very well done and almost burnt for those who ordered. She said she did. They gave a free dessert for my friend who is celebrating her birthday, which was nice of them. When the bill came I didn't understand how automatic 18% of tip was already calculated in the total bill. I would have given them only 15% for the service we received. So i'm asking the manager, Do you always calculate automatic 18% tip for the all bills? Do you not give choices to the customers on how much they want to tip on?? This is a review of the catering service. This was a great experience. Our party called for catering to about 40 people, and the staff at Nonno Pinos were a pleasure to work with. The cost was quite reasonable and they offered timely delivery of the large order. There were many compliments on the excellent food, especially the meatballs and sausage and peppers. Pastas and sandwiches were a hit too. Everyone I spoke to over the phone was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely order again! read more

I don't understand why this place gets such good reviews. Maybe we ordered all the wrong things. We got the baked clams. They were sort of fishy tasting. We also got a pizza and the eggplant rolls. Not impressed with the sauces and the pizza crust was bad. Kind of doughy and undercooked. The eggplant rolls were filled with a bland ricotta and covered with tons of mozzarella. The wine list was limited. Not many Italian choices. Decor was a combination of authentic and commercial. Would come back only to go to the bar. read more

Was there for dinner at 7:30 p.m. As soon as we sat down we ordered appetizer and dinner. Then 10 minutes later the appetizer came that was good and the waitress never came back to our table she was too busy with bigger tables of three or more customers. She came and check to see if our meal was delivered around 8:30 pm and we told her we haven't even received our salad yet. The manager came and said he will comp our appetizer big deal I would have paid for that. Then our dinner came at 8:40 I had a butter squash ravioli which ones are special it was so salty I couldn't eat it my husband had crusted chicken and that was burnt. LOVE Nonno Pino! Delicious food. Excellent service. The pistachio chicken and all of the pasta dishes are delicious as are their salads. The service is great too. One time we were in there and asked for our side salad to go. They brought it out as a side rather than in a to-go container which wasn't a big deal to us and we were just going to eat it. Once our waitress realized (without us mentioning anything) she took the salad back, apologized, and sent us home with an extra salad. That was above and beyond. read more

Haven't been in awhile. My wife had made a reservation for four people and when we arrived we found out it got lost/dropped somehow. Hostess was very apologetic and gracious. Asked us if we minded sitting at the bar for a few and got us a round of drinks while we waited. THANKS!. A short wait and we got a table. Service was great, food was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Edison Park. The food is out of this world and the ambiance is great. Most of our family get-togethers are held here and the owners have always been very nice to us - checking on our food and all that. The portions are huge and the prices aren't ridiculous.
