Wtf happened to Noodles and Company? I used to be a regular years ago. Less and less over the past 4-5 years. I ordered it through DoorDash the other night and was incredibly disappointed. First of all, I discovered they no longer make my go-to, the penne Rosa. Why. Why would you take away that delicious dish? I got the roasted garlic tortellini instead and it was meh. I love garlic, but it was so overpowering in that dish. Then they gave me a house salad rather than the Caesar I asked for. But the house salad was the highlight of the meal so wasn't super upset about that one. Lastly, and most disappointing.. the Rice Krispie. Likely not visiting this location again... I was driving my son home from surgery and needed to grab food for the family after being at the hospital all morning. As I entered, the guy working the register apologized for being on his phone and put it away to help me. Very nice. I placed my order and he was very kind & patient. The 3 ladies standing in the prep kitchen continued with their very loud, all Spanish conversation, not really appearing to move to prepare any food (including for the two customers who entered after me). I don't care that it was Spanish, just that their conversation seemed to supercede the need to do their job in that moment... So, I took my waters & treats out to my family & returned for the entrees I ordered. As I re-entered, one customer left with an order, another sat at a table waiting for his order, and a to-go order remained on the counter. While I was waiting, the guy walked over & offered me the to-go order on the counter "if I wanted it because the customer canceled their order after the food was made and it would just have to be thrown out, unless someone wanted to take it." He did warn me that it had been sitting out for about 40 min so if I agreed to take it I should heat it well to be on the safe side. So I said sure. One of the ladies from the chatting trio had starting preparing some food, finished the order of the gentleman who ordered after me & then continued with my order. In the meantime, a manager, or assistant manager appeared from the back and was informed that I would be taking the abandoned to-go order. They approached and said, "are you sure? It's been out for a while." I inquired about how long, and they said over two hours. AT THAT POINT, WHY IS IT STILL SITTING ON THE COUNTER AND BEING OFFERED TO CUSTOMERS?! SO NOT SAFE! So I declined that food & just waited for my order, which was taking a long time. When my third & final entree was completed, the guy at the register pointed out that they used the wrong kind of chicken & slid it back to a woman in the prep area. However, I had already been waiting too long & said just let me take it as is. She hesitated while her friend was still chatting away at her so I busted out my fluent Spanish to say, I don't have time to wait for you to fix the mistake because you were too busy chatting with your friends. The guy was apologizing but I told him he didn't have to apologize since he wasn't the one that messed up the order. You can get all different types in case everyone can't agree on whether they want Chinese, Italian, Thai etc. Plus they have zoodles so you can easily meet different dietary restrictions. Sadly and even worse experience on giving here a retry. They were obviously short staffed. But, zero acknowledgment to anyone waking in or waiting for orders. It took one of the door dash drivers calling out the manager before anyone said anything. The cook in the back was totally lost and incapable of multitasking and just had the front counter girl and manager yelling out what they needed. Every time they asked he said he didn't start it. Manager just gesturing in exasperation instead of helping get him on track. The kid working the fry pans had AirPods in and was chewing gum while prepping food. He spent 18 of the 20 extra minutes I spent waiting past my pickup time staring at them instead of helping, and flipping his hair out of his eyes. By the time I got my order the chicken was mostly burners and the bread had been sitting out the entire time while the entree was being made so it was completely cold. She asked if they should remake it, I explained it wasn't an allergy and I could pick them out. She offered again to remake it and I accepted. Good customer service. The dish was solid. I made an online order for pad Thai with chicken and a med salad with impossible chicken with no red onions. Food was ready by the time indicated. I went in and picked up my bag and I smelled a strong onion smell but I looked in the bag and saw green onions on top of the pad Thai, which was fine. Fast food with a noodle twist. A variety of different noodle types to choose from, and at a reasonable price. And a place to go at the mall if you don't want to eat the usual "mall" foods. They have two sizes, small and regular (or large). The store is clean with plenty of seats and the customer service was excellent. I had the Japanese noodles with marinated steak which was quite delicious. I also got an order of pot stickers, but I did not enjoy those. They put cilantro in their pot stickers which overwhelms the flavor of anything else. For me, cilantro does not belong in an Asian dish. But that is a personal preference. Our friend adores zucchini. So, when we passed by the place, she had to come in. We ordered two dishes: macaroni and cheese with truffles, and a chicken pesto. Both with zucchini noodles. The pesto chicken was VERY salty. We found that we could only manage a few bites at a time. The sauce itself was fine, the zucchini noodles were somehow over seasoned. It's kind of like a line service restaurant such as Chipotle or Panda Express except the food is made to order and not already made. It's not like a normal restaurant, but is much better than any fast food service place. I had the Penne Rosa with parm chicken and a side Caesar salad. My husband had the shrimp curry with tomato bisque. Everything was so good! And the portions were huge! We were both super surprised because most places like that are just okay. I can honestly say it was some of the best pasta I have had in years. Our total was like $28 and some change and that included our drinks. It was way cheaper than going to a restaurant. Yes, it wasn't a five star ambiance, but it is a great place to eat before or after shopping, and the service was great. I didn't end up eating it because it wasn't what sounded good and I didn't have the energy to go back, so instead I called. I spoke with one of the managers, Danielle, and she was very kind and said a she would send me something in the mail. I had forgotten about it until I received a personalized letter from them today, apologizing for the experience as well as a gift.
