Carbo-loading fast food chain popular with teenage kids. Food is filing but lacks flavor. Fine for carbo loading.

Standing in line at dinner time, and a worker announces that they're not taking orders right now, because they're backed up. Who does that?

We arrived a little early and had the pleasure of sitting at the side bar with JP -- and he was absolutely fantastic. Warm, charming, and genuinely interested in what we enjoy drinking. I could have happily stayed at the bar all evening. Once our table was ready, we were served by Madison, who was equally amazing. She helped us choose dishes we'd love, and her recommendations were spot‑on. We were seated at a cozy little table by the window, which made the whole evening feel even more special. I highly recommend Ciao Bella for date night or really any night of the week. And even if you're just stopping in for a cocktail, go see JP -- he'll make your day.

First, I want to say that Charlie was awesome to have as our server - so adorably friendly and professional. We started with the popcorn shrimp and crab cakes. The truffle aioli on the crab cakes is divine! We moved to Caesar salads and then I had the sea bass special which had a lemon risotto and a short rib that melted in your mouth and came with roasted root veggies. Finally, although we were stuffed, we opted to have their crumble of the night which was a wild berry crumble that was tart and sweet and buttery crumble - yummy.

Our cocktails were an Orion's Belt, the Moira, 2 glasses of Bordeaux and a half glass of the featured wine Farina Amarine...all were great We have noticed lately we don't get dessert because we are full and decided to start with dessert much to our server and the owner's delight. We got the chocolate mousse, the affogato and the lemon polenta cake...these were the stars of the meal. They were delightful and made you crave another bite...hats off to the pastry chef! We followed this up with the focaccia and the formaggi, let me tell you the focaccia was some of the best we've had! We then ordered the arugula salad to go with our meals. My wife chose the Tuscan soup, I chose the casarecce, and our friends selected the bass and tagliatelle broccoli rabe. These were all good just not the stars of the meal.

Reservations are recommended, but solo diners can comfortably sit at the bar--perfect for a relaxed conversation with the bartender. This place is awesome! Located near the 44th and France shopping area, it's ultra convenient. (Tip:…read morestreet parking can be a little bit tricky if there's snow, but there is a lot right across the street.) It's a very pretty establishment that brings together the classic and the modern and feels both comfortable and classy. The food is great and perfect for the aforementioned snow: it's pure comfort. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were unique and delicious. Mostarda, candied almonds, and blue cheese, with beautifully caramelized sprouts? It hits sweet, piquant, bitter, and savory along with all the textures. It's a must-try and a definite contender for top treatment of Brussels sprouts. For our second side, we got the tomato sugo, which was a very satisfying starter. Deep, rich tomato flavor, the perfect level of salt and herbs: you can taste the love and time that went into it. (The focaccia that came with was amazing, but you could totally eat this with a spoon, too.) For my main, I had the red bucatini (yes, I like tomatoes, especially when paired with time). It was absolutely awesome--the pasta was cooked perfectly and was the perfect shape for the sauce. The sauce was great. The chili oil added an excellent kick. The garlic breadcrumbs added textural interest and flavor. Again with the perfect, savory made-with-love mouthfuls. I was truly enamored with this one. For dessert, everyone went for the budino, a rich, delicious chocolate-hazelnut pudding topped with a generous mound of silky vanilla whipped cream, crunchy sugar cookie crumbles, and a drizzle of EVOO. It was perfectly balanced and just the right amount. Tying everything together was excellent service from everyone who we encountered. Knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, they made our evening all the more pleasant.

The sugo was really delicious and garlicy- my only negative is I wish they warmed the bread up that is the only thing that would have made it a notch better. We ordered the short rib tagliatelle and the white spaghetti. The beef was super tender and the ragu for the tagliatelle was very good. And the white spaghetti was very well balanced between the acidity from lemon, saltiness from the Parmesan cheese and garlickyness. Definitely recommend!

Today I want to give a heartfelt thank you to Peter of Red Wagon Pizza…read more Over the last couple of years, Red Wagon Pizza (Peter) has hosted my family for dinner and multiple private events for my work always carving out time to share his story, connect with guests, and create an atmosphere that's both welcoming and inspiring. (I have also done his virtual class "Pizza with Pete" which is awesome) What really stands out is Peter's commitment to doing things the right way and that shows in how incredible everything tastes. Not only do they bring people together through great food and hospitality, but he also gives back in meaningful ways. A special shout out for his continued support of my kids' school, Annunciation. This kind of quiet, consistent generosity makes a lasting impact, and it doesn't go unnoticed. Grateful for Red Wagon Pizza, Peter (and his awesome wife) who leads with heart, build with purpose, and elevate everyone around them. (If you don't know Peter / Red Wagon Pizza ck them out)

Our server was very prompt, not really nice. As in, she literally threw the dessert menu on the table and said nothing. It was bizarre... she also wasn't overly knowledgeable in the menu. Just struck us as weird. Also expect slower service on the patio. It took a long time to get drinks and food. We didn't necessarily mind since we were all visiting, but if you are trying to eat quickly, it may be better to go inside. The patio was clean and a decent size for a Minneapolis restaurant. I never went inside so I can't speak to those vibes. We got the double pep, popeye with mushrooms and dry rub wings. I would say the dry rub wings are on the sweeter side but were pretty decent and not dried out. Get both sauces! The green goddess sauce was delicious! The blue cheese was done right! Plus you can dip your crusts! The pizza toppings were very tasty! The crust was just ok for me. I have heard they do an awesome happy hour! So definitely look into that. Overall this place was just ok for us.
