We had such a great experience at Urban Wok in St. Louis Park. My sister and I decided to dine in and were impressed from start to finish. We started with the vegetable spring rolls, which were crisp, fresh, and served with a flavorful agave, ginger and sriracha sauce. It was the perfect light appetizer. For our main dishes, we ordered two wraps, the Thai Noodle Wrap with tofu and the Island Time Wrap with chicken. Both were absolutely delicious. The Thai Noodle Wrap had just the right amount of heat from the blackberry habanero drizzle and a creamy balance from the spicy peanut sauce. The Island Time Wrap was bright and tropical with pineapple, basmati rice, and a fantastic ginger teriyaki flavor. We loved that everything was customizable, clearly labeled with gluten-free options, and cooked fresh right in front of us. The kiosk ordering system was quick and easy, and our server Mark T. made sure everything came out perfectly. It's a very good idea to have this kind of fast casual option in this spot, in this busy area where there are so many restaurants that are more "involved". I've gotten two build-your-own style stir fries here and they honestly tasted great. I got one with dumplings tossed in there and those dumplings were satisfying too. This is quick, satisfying food. I came in this last time because I got an email that advertised "$.75 chicken wings". That was misleading; you still had to buy them in quantities of at least 6. I wanted to mix and match a few to try their flavors, but that didn't appear to be an option. Also not an option was using the remainder of my gift card to pay for part of the order. Suckering people out of a few bucks from a giftcard is a scam that does not sit well with me. Also their machines (you order from a screen at the counter & they bring it to you at your seat) had a lot of trouble reading my giftcard. Maybe avoid their giftcards. Okay but the people there are friendly and they seem to be working hard to get your order quickly. And again, it all tasted great. I got their jalapeno sauce on the side for one of them and it was very yummy, but it was also yummy without it. When you select your ingredients for a build-your-own, additional vegetables that weren't requested turn up in the mix. I don't know if it's an on-purpose thing for flavor reasons or that it's just hard to wrangle diced red peppers and cabbage, but take note. One more thing... there is a water cooler that appears to be there for you to have some free water. But the water is... not transparent? Is there lemon in there? Cucumber? Horseradish? It looked grimy and unappetizing and so I didn't pour myself a cup of water even though I was thirsty. read more

I was in search of a nice soup as my allergies were killing me. I ordered the miso soup that had ginger carrots and garlic it came out nice and hot. I appreciated the Pro tip I received to dine in as the amount is more than take out. The hot soup immediately warmed me and the dumplings I had on the side were good dipped in the soup. There was just one supervisor working and thought he did a great job managing it all alone and being helpful and friendly. I saw on Tuesdays they have a promotion which would be nice to go back and try something else. I'd love if there was an option to make your own soup as udon noodles would have been a nice addition to the soup. Maybe I'll add them as a side next time! read more

Honestly this lowkey slaps!! It's like the Chipotle of stir fry's. You choose your veggies, protein, type of noodle, and sauce on a kiosk, then they site fry it for you right on the spot! The server brought my food directly to me, and they were so quick! I got the udon noodles with Thai yellow curry, and chose dumplings, chicken, broccoli, mushroom, onions, and edamame as my toppings. The box is a wayyyy bigger portion than you expect, and my food came out super quickly! Highly recommend for a quick meal on the go! I really want to like Urban Wok because I love stir fry and love the fact that you can build your own and it's made to order however it was a bit too salty for me. I know as part of the process you can pick your sauce and most sauces have a bit of sodium but we ordered 3 different sauces as we each did our own orders and they were all really salty. It may not have been the sauce but added msg? Not sure but it almost was all you tasted vs the flavors of the veggies and general mix of ingredients. We were given a free app- veggie egg rolls as we waited for our order which was really nice. They were okay. I'll probably go back one day to give it another try but for now I currently have high BP issues & have to watch what I eat a bit more. The location is cool. I've wanted to try Urban Wok for a while and forget about it because it's tucked in the corner of a strip mall in the West End. The first time I went I got a stir fry with rice noodles, chicken and peanut sauce. It was awesome, but the sauce was pretty spicy (at least to me, I'm pretty sensitive to spice). I think my favorite thing I've had here so far though are the wings. HIGHLY recommend the Ginger Teriyaki wings (so good I ate them all before snapping a pic). At my most recent visit (pictured) I got zucchini noodles with double the chicken, the veggie mix and the garlic ginger soy sauce. The dish was a bit heavy on the sauce but soooo good and filling. The vegetables were fresh and cooked perfectly, not soggy. I'll be adding this place to my list of go-to's for low carb dish alternatives, delish! read more

Urban Wok has been catching our eye the past few weeks, and we finally got around to trying it. The restaurant is modern and minimalistic, plus it was very clean when I entered. You order at a kiosk where you can pick from a selection of beverages, appetizers, select dishes, and/or build your own options. I customized my order and it was out in a short amount of time, delivered by the staff. Though you don't have much interaction with the service crew, they were helpful and answered questions that the patrons had. Our meals were tastless, unless you count the bitter pea pods. The meals were mainly noodles or rice with a smattering or preprepared vegies and meat. It's so sad because I had been looking forward to trying Urban Wok and REALLY wanted to like it. We made a group order for 12 via Door Dash for pickup on a Sunday night, placed the order 2 hours in advance, and gave the manager a heads-up via phone. Apparently, that wasn't enough. Even though there were no other customers in the store, there were several online orders and the two workers were very overwhelmed. Half our party ordered tofu, but they had none. They forgot to add one of our dishes, so we had to head back over once we got home. Also, one of our meals was some other customer's order, so they got a surprise when they got home, too. Now, I understand and appreciate how difficult it is for fast casual restaurants to hire and retain workers, so I respect the workers and their attempts to do the best they could, but still. All of that aside, the food was pretty disappointing. I ordered a build-your-own bowl with whole wheat soba noodles, chicken, the 5 allowed veggies plus an add-on veggie with peanut sauce. The sauce was delicious with a nice hint of spice. The noodles were 'ok'. They were mushy, but I liked them which is good because the dish is 98% noodles. They were very spartan with the vegetables. There were literally 2 pieces of broccoli and 1 piece of red cabbage. There was no sign of the mushrooms I ordered, nor the carrots. There was a generous amount of edamame that I paid an extra $0.75 for. All in all, this experience was disappointing. With so many options in the area, I am unlikely to return. read more
