Avoid. Awful experience. Saw good reviews and trusted them, my mistake. Took three oriental rugs there was quoted an extortionate price to clean them, but trusting the reviews thought, let me try this. He was also keen to mend another large rug that I did not bring in, but I thought, if he does a good job... paid a hefty deposit of 60% of final payment. I was promised the carpets would be ready 3 weeks later. Three weeks came, I emailed to ask when I could expect them. No response. Emailed again, he said he was traveling - this now the week he said the carpets would be ready. Does this mean his entire operation shuts down when he travels and why did he say my carpets would be ready in a week he knew he would be traveling. I asked him. No answer. I said I no longer wanted him to touch my carpets and that he should immediately refund me and deliver the carpets back to me on his return. He said he would deliver, no word about the refund. Two days later I asked where my refund was. No response. On the day he said he would deliver, by mid-afternoon I called the cops. They offered to go there then, but I was across town. I finished what I was doing and drove to his business, my carpets were where I had left them. Untouched. He offered no apology, no explanation. A staff member cut a check for me. Another loaded the carpets back into my car. I do not know what his real business is, but it is not carpets. Avoid. read more

I dropped off 2 hand punched rugs made by my now deceased mom in November. First they said they were not ready. Then when I called, he said only one was ready. Come next week Well he had RUINED THE OTHER ONE!! Absolutely ruined, my mother's work gone. And he Lied that it wasn't ready .. they had ruined it.. No apology offered. I do not recommend this place and would strongly caution anyone going here. I brought a 7'x4' oriental rug for cleaning. The owner wanted to charge me $650 to clean the rug and over $3,000 to fix the rug. Absolutely insane. "What do you use to protect from moths?" "Vinegar." He will look at you, size you up, and if he thinks you know nothing about rugs, he'll take you for whatever he can. I got my rug cleaned for a fraction of the price elsewhere. I spent time in the spring of 1970 helping a merchant expert in antique rugs, Mr. Zemaroodian, sell fine tribal carpets in the Shiraz Bazaar. I learned the respect and affection that people have for carpets, often their only furniture. When we came to Mo Nooraee's shop, he offered us tea and sat to talk to us with his assistant. I knew he was a carpet person, and more generally a sage. When we received our carpets back from cleaning and repair, he turned over our Nain city carpet to show me the reknotting he had done. I could not actually see the repair the work was so fine. Mr. Nooraee is a teacher and artist. The work is expensive, he will give an estimate for free, but if you love your carpets as I do, it is worth it. read more

The selection of antique Persian rugs was not as extensive as other retail stores, however, we had no problem selecting 2 large Sarouk rugs and a smaller Afghan rug. These rugs were woven in the late 19th century using natural dyes which do not run or fade. Each was washed using "green" shampoo and restored to near new conditions. The process is time consuming, but the rugs were delivered and "installed" by Mr Mo Noorae and Sarah. We are delighted with the product quality and customer service. I have a beautiful Turkish woven rug that had not been cleaned in way way too long. The colors in the pattern are light. Talking with Mr. Noor it was clear that he is an expert at what he does, as well as being a kind and caring individual. He assessed the condition of my rug and explained the entire cleaning process, graciously offering tea, so like the experience when we first purchased the rug many years ago in the Middle East. It was a great pleasure to do business with him. I also learned of his charitable activities, which only confirmed for me that this is a business I want to patronize. And the rug now looks beautiful! We brought a carpet runner to Noor, not knowing anything about the process of true natural carpet cleaning. We were greeted like royalty, seated and served tea and chocolate truffles. He gave us a history on the type of carpet (Tibetan) we have, it's intrinsic value etc. We were advised of every step of the cleansing process etc. More than anything is the feeling of serenity while sitting amongst the most beautiful carpets I have ever seen. They all have a story to tell. There were no questions that went unanswered. Upon picking up the carpet we were pleasantly surprised at how new and refreshed it it looked and felt. We had three beautiful silk rugs that we purchased in India about a decade ago. One of them had been damaged, unfortunately. About an inch of one edge separated in a couple of places because a chair had been run back and forth over it. We brought all three rugs to Noor Oriental Rugs to be cleaned, and to have the damaged rug repaired. Mr. Noor set our expectations about how long it would take to clean and repair, and he beat that time by at least a month. As for the repair, we can't even tell where it was. I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Noor. Their work is exquisite. I brought in a rug that has been in my family for 30 years. It had been sitting in my garage for the past year, and I thought there was little chance the rug could ever be revived given its condition. At Noor, all of the rugs are hand cleaned, and I was astounded at the difference this makes when I picked the rug up. The rug I brought home looks like the rug my parents bought 30 years ago. It shines in vibrant colors I haven't seen in it for years. It reminds me of my childhood. I thought that would be impossible. The quality of the work at Noor alone is enough to merit my five star rating, but I was blown away even more by Mohammed, Noor's owner. He is not only an expert on oriental rugs and a genuinely warm person, but he is also passionately devoted to serving the Boston community through charity work. For him, running Noor and being involved in charity initiatives go hand and hand, and part of every dollar that comes in through Noor is put straight into his charity work to help the homeless and impoverished communities in the Boston area. I brought two area rugs to Noor Oriental Rugs for cleaning, not particularly valuable,but of nostalgic value to me and mine. They showed multiple "decorations"from grandchildren's accidents. When you come to visit the store, you better not be in a hurry, but what nice experience: you are treated to some old-fashioned Sufi curtesies with a nice cup of tea, while getting familiarized with the time-honored cleaning methods that your rugs will encounter. I had two kilims that needed to be cleaned- one from Iran that was dusty and the other from Afghanistan that has color bleed of the blue dye. After reading the glorious reviews on yelp and promises on their website that said they can restore the color bleed, I took mine in. $700 for both. It took 4 months to just take the dust out. Another 3 to try and take the bleed out but couldn't. We visited 3 times and each time there was no progress. About the no chemicals promise: my rug with color bleed now smells like a swimming pool of bleach. After 7 months we took the kilims back with a half refund. read more

I am endorsing Mr. Nooraee and his company based on my dealings with him over the past 2 years. He is a soft-spoken professional who is honest and realistic, and he keeps his promises. As an out-of-state resident, I was appointed executor of a relative's estate in Cambridge. There were several older and somewhat damaged oriental rugs among the possessions I was responsible for disposing of. I was of course concerned about optimizing the value of these items, while wanting to keep matters as convenient as possible. Mr. Nooraee provided an initial assessment of the rugs, removed and restored them, and ultimately helped me maximize the value the estate received. He also assisted me in preparing the necessary documentation to ensure the beneficiaries complied with related tax laws.
