I have shopped at Nordstrom in the Houston Galleria for years, but after yesterday I am rethinking Nordstrom. I was there for an hour trying on clothing and it was so hot and uncomfortable in the dressing room that the salesperson had to go get water for me. There are many other stores in the Galleria where I can shop comfortably. And, while I am on a roll, the dress of most employees now makes it difficult to know who works there and who is just shopping. I guess this is the new Nordstrom and if I am going to pay the prices for their clothing, I will move on to other establishments with more professional staff AND temperature-controlled dressing rooms. This is my favorite department store. The piano player? Awesome touch to class up the joint. Even though he didn't know (or was being polite in refusing to play) any Notorious BIG tunes last time I asked him. With a piano player you still feel like you are receiving the royal treatment at Meduseld. The sales associates? Awesome. They really seem willing to do any outlandish thing to go above and beyond. When I was buying shoes and in a rush, one of the Shoe dudes actually ran from the shoe table into the back and ran back out with sweat on his brow when I said I was in a rush. When I was buying a tie and on the phone, even though I know how to tie a tie very well, he tied the tie for me so I didn't need to end the call or put it on speakerphone and put the phone down on the counter. When I was buying a new dress shirt the big guy (4u) shirt salesman gave me about ten different compliments on my build, which is always a nice touch even if he was just lying. #Bling #Bling read more

First of all, it's a huge store with lots of shows, clothes, accessories, etc. They have a great selection of stuff, stuff that you could only find online or stuff that is almost hard to find. I ordered several things Monday - next day delivery. Paid the extra shipping guaranteed delivery by today, although next day should be Tuesday. Wednesday I got an email one of the dresses was back ordered so I called and cancelled that dress. I needed it for a party this weekend. Now, Thursday night and it looks like my package was lost. I have to wait until tomorrow before the can even begin to look into issuing a credit. Very inconvenient - these items were needed for an out of state party this weekend. No, I am not writing about the clothing store, Nordstrom. Rather I am writing about Nordstroms Coffee House, E-Bar. Random, I know. But I did not find their page under Yelp. Anyways . . I love the selection they have to offer in their little corner coffee spot. It is like a hidden gem. Located downstairs, from the Upper Location. I have tried the honey almond latte, and I must say it is some of the best coffee I have ever had. The flavour is beautiful.They also offer a nice selection of desserts and pastries.Their iced peach tea is nice as well. Do check it out. I bought my boyfriend a watch from Nordstrom Rack. They told us to go to Nordstrom to get it resized, my boyfriend bought the One Million cologne then we told the salesman about the watch that we needed resized. He told us "let me take you guys to the professional" we wanted 3 links taken off, he suggested 2. Since he was the expert we went with his opinion. Well it was loose to the point where it looked tacky and my boyfriend wanted my opinion as I was looking at shoes. As soon as I went and found him the first thing I said was it is too big...Went back for another resizing. Later that night the watch came apart, he didn't put the pin in back correctly. I had a similar experience as Michelle's. I was shopping for a tuxedo (my budget was $700.00 to $800.00); the salesman I first saw in the Men's Shop, an African man by his accent, was as negative as he could be. The wedding invitation asked for "Tropical Smoking" (read: white dinner jacket, tuxedo pants; the wedding is in La Habana). From the start he told me: "No, sir". Every question I asked had the same answer: "No, sir". Now, I worked in Industrial Sales close to 30 years and one of rules in Sales is that you don't say NO to a potential customer. Nordstrom lost a potential customer right there and then. It was pathetic; I even felt sorry for the guy ... he's going nowhere with that attitude. read more

I was only visiting and leaving the next morning so I called when store opened to see if they had size I needed. I love love love Nordstrom. Not only are their items high quality and last for eternity. But not once have I been disappointed with their amazing customer service. Whether in store or online I've always had a wonderful experience. Even if a competitor sold the exact item I need or want and if Nordstrom's price was higher I'd still take my business here for the simple fact that they actually care about their clientele. Fairly disappointed in what usually is always a wonderful experience with online order pickups. I've done a ton of pick ups at this location without any problem but recently encountered two very rude employees working this area. As usual I come up to an employee and tell them I have an order to pick up along with my name, the employee went off and looked around, dropped a bag on another table and just left. A few mins passed by without not a clue what was going on another employee comes by and randomly hands me the bag. I asked her if it was alright to do a return here also, she looked at me very annoyed and said "ummm... I guess." Please retrain your employees to have some manners or at least know how to use a poker face. The most unpleasant Nordstrom experience I've had to date. Was just here for Icon event. Very nicely done. Atmosphere was actually a little more casual than I expected, which was great. Was not overdone, nor did I feel that I was being aggressively being sold to on the floor at any time. Bailey up in home goods was particularly fantastic. She pulled holiday stock from the back that wasn't on the floor yet for me to look thru. Resulted in me purchasing multiple items I wouldn't have otherwise, so worked out well for both of us. Earlier this year, I purchased several Monica Vinader rings online during NAS and the jewelry dept was able to coordinate with the NYC store to get them all sized appropriately. They shipped them out for me free of charge and contacted me when back in. So while most of my Nordstrom's transactions are done online, I have had great experiences the handful of times I have visited the Galleria location. I have not used the spa or restaurant, but think that will try both out over the holidays. read more

I bought a longchamp bag awhile ago from Nordstrom and the zipper broke. So I brought it into the handbags section of the store and they turned in my purse to be fixed for free! It was the best news ever because I thought I would have to buy another bag. The only downside is I had to wait SIX WEEKS for my purse to be fixed. That is a mighty long time without my bag, but they fixed it for free so I'm happy. read more

During Covid -19, nordstrom lost several of my return packages. All these years I buy online then return in store. I seldom do mail return. I usually write down tracking numbers. During Covid-19, only one time in March I dropped several packages in UPS and didn't write down tracking numbers and they all went missing. I lost a lot of money. I didn't submit return request online then printed return pages. I used the return sheet coming along in the packages. I don't know if that is the reason my return packages are missing or not. Later on I went online first to request return labels and packages were acknowledged by Nordstrom that they received the packages. Anyway, it is a big bummer to me! read more

Came here yesterday (1/16/22) to look at men designer shoes and I definitely don't like it when the sales guy profiles me while trying to play it off. HORRIBLE! I shop at this Nordstrom's online and in store ALL the time but this last order had to be the WORST experience ever, so for starters I placed the order in store because online it showed in stock at the store but it wasn't and I was okay with that but the problem started when sayveon in the shoe department placed my order and didn't put where it was going correctly even though it was going to Nordstrom's!!!! My package finally was delivered to Nordstrom's late and the manager called saying they had my shoes in hand and I could come get them, I get to the mall about a hour after he called and my shoes WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!!!! The managers weren't helpful whatsoever I couldn't believe how horrible the service was I was in shock honestly because this has never happened before, they found my package and someone changed the bag and put somebody's else name! It also took 2 hours for them to find the package which was even crazier!! My all-time favorite department store and the only one I go to! I *love* Nordstrom. They carry everything a lady can need. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, bags, things for the home. And they have TASTEFUL, quality items. I find some other department stores overwhelming b/c they have so many ugly items that you have to sift through in order to find something cute. The buying staff for Nordstrom really know what they're doing! The prices are anywhere from inexpensive to reasonable to expensive - the whole range. They have a great cafe, in case you need to fuel up. And a wonderful spa! The staff I've worked with have consistently been friendly, helpful, stylish, courteous, attentive, and professional. Shopping online usually has free shipping and in-store returns are super fast and easy. (The counter is right by the door. In other stores, they put the counter all the way at the back of the store, so you have to walk through the entire store to get there. No thanks! They have online returns as well, but I've never used that, since the store is so close-by.) I love shopping here! Both online and in person. 5 stars for Nordstrom! read more

I'm only giving this Nordstrom a four star rating because they have an awesome selection of accessories and great customer service. Saw a few people on the sales floor texting, but that's ok I can deal with that since they were so helpful and nice. The Women's department (Encore, sizes 14 and up) is lack-luster and a huge disappointment. Doesn't carry enough selection like their website. I would rather drive to the Galleria, fighting the Houston traffic, drive around for 20 mins looking for somewhere to park than be forced to shop online. I have a wide foot and Nordstrom was the first store in the Galleria I tried when I needed a heel for an evening event. The shoe department looked great and one of the shoe salespeople approached me and asked what I needed right away. When I said I needed wide width shoes, I was told that there were no shoes in the store for me except for casual shoes. When I went home to buy shoes online after this failed trip to the mall, I found wide width heels that were available for in-store pick-up, and ended up making the purchase online and having to make a second trip to pick them up. Very frustrating because I would have wanted to try on those shoes and make that purchase while in the store earlier that day. The employees were really helpful during the pick-up process, though. Overall, I felt like the customer service was mixed and it would be great in the future if people with oddly sized feet were not made to feel like Nordstrom has nothing for them. read more

I have a great wrap dress that I was going to wear to Bat Mitzvah celebration party but needed a better bra to hold the "girls" in place. Sadly, I didn't have time to go to Nordies at home but I did have time to hit up this Nordrtom's at the Galleria. This location is larger than I am used to and had a vast lingerie department. I knew what I was looking for and was greeted warmly by a great sales lady (Fay). She measured me and noted the bra that I was currently wearing while great was a bit too big. I had lost some weight and went down a size in the band. She suggested that since the bra I had on was one of "theirs" and was in good condition she could exchange it for a new one with my new size for....FREE!! Man, I totally took her up on that offer-my $88.00 bra for a new $88.00 one and my "girls" looked great in my dress! read more

Also, please partner with Macy's/Galleria security to provide parking attendants on weekends and holidays as it took 2 hrs to leave your store recently and this does not align with the Nordstrom's customer experience. I refuse to call this place by any cutesy nickname. It's simply, Nordstrom to me. What is also is, is the best place for guys to get most of their shopping done in one place. Brilliant: The men's shoe department is unparalleled in Houston in terms of service, selection and availability. Ask for Bernard (goes by Bern or Jorge. They are great and will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy before you leave and even after you leave the store with the shoes. I have freakishly wide feet and they carry Ferragamo and various other brands in widths and narrows. Fantastic: The return policy is very flexible and they want you to be happy with your purchase. You can essentially bring anything back for a legitimate reason and they will take care of you. Don't abuse it! Fantastic: Their personal shopper service is a really helpful tool for someone like myself who isn't always the best at picking stuff out. Scotty in Men's Furnishings/Suits is also very helpful. Delicious: The restaurant upstairs is really good and a hidden gem in the mall. It's nicer than the food court but not horribly expensive. Try the Steak & Frittes or a soup and sandwich. I think this gets passed over sometimes because A) people don't know about it B) it gets the stimga of a department store restaurant. A ***** restaurant on it's own. A 6 star given that it is just steps away from where you'll be anyways. The white chocolate bread pudding can hold its own against desserts from any of the nice restaurants around Houston. Can't miss: Nordstrom is the quite possibly the best place to shop for most guys' clothes/shoes needs. It only gets better with the Anniversary Sale which happens July 18th this year. They put next season's (not a huge deal for guys, but more pronounced for girls) stuff on sale at significant discounts. Really, don't miss this. If you're looking for ridiculous t-shirts or destroyed jeans, you best move on to Metropark or something at the other end of the mall. Otherwise, Nordstrom may be the perfect mix of everyday stuff mixed with some nicer things. This is not Harrod's and it's not Macy's, but I think splitting the difference and finding the happy medium is exactly what Nordstrom does. read more

Wedding Suite experience is the basis of this review. I had to order my bridesmaid dress from them and when I tried on the dresses, there was a size that pretty much fit me but then it needed to be cut short and probably taken in a little bit. Before ordering though we all got measured and I went in to get measured - they would then order my dress for me using my exact measurements. Got there and I had to wait a little while for the lady to finally come and measure me. When the dress came in, I didn't have time to try it on at the store but it when I tried it on at home was HUGE. I mean an ENTIRE size too big, it just fell off me completely when I tried to put it on. There's no reason that the lady who measured me (in my underwear, so no clothes to blame!) should be off by that much and order me the wrong dress size. I was expecting the same size that I tried on since that one had already fit but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they were pros and would order me the most correct size. I was wrong. I will never trust anyone there to measure or do anything of the sort again and if they can't even do that right I can't believe they do alterations. Now this will cost me more in alterations and no way in hell I am ever buying a custom order dress from them again nor would I suggest anyone trust them to measure and order it for you. Just try it on and your best guess would probably be better than their work. Better yet, just don't purchase it from them. The lady who we initially worked with to try on dresses and choose which one was alright and she was pretty friendly and helpful. But after that - the employees I interacted with throughout the purchasing experience was just around average. read more

Beware of the crappy UPS drivers that will deliver the online items you buy to the wrong address! Now I've spent 2 days and over an hour on the phone to get a credit issued for the Nordstroms jewelry delivered to the wrong house! Now I am on gold again to find out why they never gave me a credit or shipped me another one... and then I get to hold some more to close out my debit and credit cards with Nordstroms because I'm sick of all the bullshit! Since you can't ring up more than $500 worth of rewards at a time, their rewards system is more of a pain in the ass! I also love that when the mail man gives my mail to the neighbors they redeem my Nordstrom notes since you can redeem them without your ID, so damn rediculous! Ugh!! I really like this place a lot. I don't spend a lot of money on clothes so when I do I want to feel like I am getting a deal and this place gives me just that. I head right for the sales racks for great quality items at a steep discount. Last month I purchase two $200 dollar dresses marked down 40%. Both are made wonderfully and look as though I spent a lot more than $200. If you have champagne taste on a wine cooler budget this is the place. Customer service is off the charts! My favorite store until the day I die. The customer service is exceptional, and all other retailers should take notes on how to train their staff to be the most professional, warm, and helpful employees ever. They go to great lengths to make sure I never leave dissatisfied, and I'm not even special- they do this for everyone! What I look for in my shopping experience is selection, ambiance, and customer service. Their variety of brands suits my every need, whether I want to treat myself or others. I do all my gift shopping here because they have the easiest return policy. No receipt? No problem, you can still return or exchange anything because they put a tracking sticker on every item. No questions asked. The quality of the items they carry justifies the price; I've never had any issues. The ambiance is always pleasant, even around Christmas when the rest of the mall is pure chaos. The merchandise is spaced out well and arranged neatly, so I can shop with relative speed without feeling overwhelmed. The customers are generally very courteous and considerate of others. These might seem insignificant, but to me, they dramatically affect my mood. I have so many examples of the stellar customer service. I was looking for a Celine bag that they didn't carry at this location, but Bonita called several stores around the country to locate it and have it shipped to my house. I've been on the wait list for a pair of those highly coveted red-soled shoes, and whenever a new shipment arrives, I get a personal phone call or text message to inform me before they even put it on the shelves. I adore the home goods section, and the ladies who work there are the sweetest. They take meticulous care in gift wrapping all my purchases and always send me off with extra boxes and ribbons and bags. I've noticed that I am greeted or offered help by almost every employee I encounter. Nordstrom knows how to treat customers. There are other department stores where I can get the same exact items, but this is always my first choice. As much of a shopaholic as I am, I'd never been persuaded to apply for a credit card at any other retailer besides Nordstrom. After living in Seattle and experiencing Nordy's there and now in Chicago, I tell you that this store needs to take major pointers. For me, Nordy's is it. I can always find what I am looking for without even having to think about it. Nordy's has it. However, Nordy's in Houston leaves a lot to be desired. I went there this past week and experienced the worst customer service and lack of enthusiaum for the job. When I was in B-school, we always talked about great companies that really make impact and leave you with a memorable experience. Nordy's was always on the list. You always hear stories as to how the salesperson put on his jogging shoes and ran upstairs to take the shoes off the manniquin to ensure the customer was happy. Are you kidding me?! :) For this experience, I got the "well, we don't have it but I bet Neiman's does". What the heck, have you ever thought about calling another location or verifying it's on the website. By the way, I checked the website and they did sell item. Salesfolks know your products. It's sales 101. My experience left me thinking "Did I really go into Nordy's or was that Macy's" I expect this treatment at Macy's but not Nordy's. The selection is limited and leaves you there thinking maybe I should purchase from the catalog or go onto the website. I asked one salesperson to help me and they told me how they were off the clock and look for another salesperson. Is this really Nordy's? Also, I had an item shipped and the lady promised me that she would call me with the shipping confirmation. She never did. I called her. Seriously?! Nordy's if you are listening, pay attention. The buyers need to up the ante on the selection of clothing and put salepeople like Judy Kieferbaum from the perfume department of downtown Chicago there...These are stellar people that will help keep you in business in Houston. read more

I am a big fan of Nordstrom. Pros: The sales people actually greet you, whether you are in sweatpants, jeans or a dress. They have a great selection of clothing for men, women and kids. For teen girls, they even have a juniors department. It is known for a family store, but on my latest trip I saw they carry Herve Leger in the designer department again! Can't find your size? They order it and it ships to your house, even sale items! You might even get a handwritten thank you note. No one else does all of that. Yes, they obviously work on commission and you may feel a little bugged, but at least you don't have to show your Amex to get helped. You don't have to pay for a stylist. The return policy is great. I feel much better buying gifts for people from Nordstrom because they don't hassle. Cons: Some of the staff look like they should be working at Forever 21. And I'm sorry, but I don't want to see tons of tattoos, piercings, or purple hair on my sales person. Best stylist: Amber in tbd 2nd floor.
