I bought a cute black dress that I had planned on wearing for my graduation pictures. However, I ended up finding something else that I liked better from a different store. Today, I went in to return the dress since I would not be using it. Going through the transaction the cashier realized that the tag/description did not match the dress itself. I told her this is exactly how I bought it along with a pair of converse. She called over her supervisor to double check it, doing her job. And I fully applaud her for it because I have worked 6 years in retail and most cashiers do not check the description past "dress" but she saw that the material did not match. She gets 5 stars. But her supervisor gets this 1 star review. After waiting for about 5 minutes she came back and told me she could not take this back because it is not a brand they sell and that their tags can easily be put back on a different dress. Aka she was telling me that I was trying to pass off a dress I got from somewhere else and return it to them for money. I told her I bought it this way. If it was not a dress they sell then why didn't the cashier who checked me out catch that? She again said the same thing. I told her I bought this dress here and I would never, ever to something like that because I have worked retail for a long time. I am terrible at confrontation but I was not going to let someone tell me I was trying to essentially steal from them by returning a different dress. So I ended up speaking to the manager and told her this is how I bought it, I had no idea this was not their dress but I should not have to eat the cost for this mistake. She absolutely agreed and apologized. I got my refund and she thanked me for my patience. She also gets a 5 star review because that's how you take care of a customer when this mistake is fully on them. Whoever did actually return this dress with a Nordstrom tag got away with it and that cashier did not do their job on checking the description, but that is something I would never, ever do. I understand the procedures that happen when someone tries to return something that your store does not carry. However those people usually have a record on file of returning these kinds of things and they also do not wait around for a cashiers supervisor to try to figure out the problem. When a cashier says hey this actually isn't the right item they grab it and leave so they can try some other sucker. Next time that supervisor should've asked for my side of the story and taken care of it instead of telling me how it easy it is to swap tags to a different dress and wasting the store managers time. This is Nordstrom we're talking about, not Ross. If I weren't a broke young adult who could use that $32.29 for my utility bill next month I would've just kept the dress instead of even coming here to return it. Seriously disappointed and probably won't be coming back because I might end up buying something that isn't actually an item they carry and will get accused all over again if I have to return it. read more

Went here on a whim with friends and we did not expect to end up with a bunch of stuff. Brand names like Michael Kors or BCBG can be found for much cheaper here and be sure to show the cashier the same item on their website because when it is cheaper on their website online, they price adjust in the store! I have been counting down the days for this place to open!!! No more driving to Carmel mt and mission valley for my nordies rack fixes!!! Beautiful store and I love that it's not too big. Parking is up close and plenty since it is located in a shopping center. Since it just opened everything is neat and nicely organized. I hope it stays this way. Plenty of associates in bright green shirts to help you out. There are a few check out centers besides the main one. The one in the back in the men's section always seems to have no line! I got a great deal on a Tory Burch tote bag and some new sunglasses! I always manage to snag some cute outfits for my kids as well. High quality for low prices is what keeps me coming back! Slowest checkout process. Yesterday at about 5pm, the two cashiers were held up in long transactions with women buying a ton of stuff(not their fault but they can control their pace and address/thank line) and when one of the cashiers called backup it was interesting to see how slowly and careless the backup cashier walked up. Everyone moved at an uncomfortably slow pace with 5 more people standing in line. Woman at checkout asked us 6 times if we want the card "do you have our card? do you want or card? Wouldn't you like one today? Oh you didn't want one? So no on the card?" I didn't like having to say no 6 times. What I would like is to get out of here at a faster pace read more

My mom says she feels sorry for NORDSTROM RACK's competitors. This place sells top popular brands at a discount. I love getting Hugo Boss shirts listed for $135 for $49. I even picked up a few at $29.95 Nordstrom brand dress shirts. Dress shoes for $99 to $209, half off retail. Nordstrom Rack is always busy and check-out lines are always full for a VALID REASON. People recognize quality and appreciate discounts on quality merchandise. Why can't other retail giants copy or compete with this time proven formula! This place rocks! FYI, this place is about 10-15% smaller than the Mission Valley Location but adequately functional. It's nice of Nordstrom to fully stock its employees on grand opening. It shows this company cares about its customers and DIDN'T go the cheap route on saving labor costs. Props, N.R.! read more

Definitely our favorite place to shop for clothing and shoes. We have been to a number of Nordstrom Racks not only in California but few more states and this one beets them all with selection of brands. Everything goes pretty fast, so if you see something- pick it up, chances are it will be gone if you decide to come back tomorrow. read more

Staff is never really friendly, however they have an exceptional selection of items. I love the home section & shoe section here. They could work on organizing the clearance and jewelry but other then that I love this location for the reasons stated above. But something about the staff here, they aren't terrible but borderline rude. read more

Nordies!! Where has your customer service gone? Lines sooo long. Customers complaining in line that just want to do returns...like me. Return window closed....I asked two managers that were just standing and chatting if they could get the return register open.....the line was literally 20 people deep...3 cashier on a sat. She said no. Back when I used to work for nordstrom I personally myself as a manager would have gone back in the register and started processing people in line. It really is a shame. This store is so much better than Marshall's or Ross, you can find really high end stuff at HUGE discounts. My only issue is the line. I had found some great stuff but could not purchase because I was short on time and the line was to long. read more

I wasn't impressed when this store first opened. It seemed unorganized and understaffed. Today however I visited and was astonished with the quick turn around! Employees were constantly busting themselves with restocking, from new shipment boxes to the fitting room leftovers. I even saw one girl actually sorting through sizes, as she restocked, to ensure accuracy! I mentioned to her that shopping in the location was so easy! I was literally able to shop by designer, silhouette and correct sizing! In the end I was there about 40 minutes and came out with a large amount of awesome garments (all obtained for my upcoming new job) and I plan to return to shop the second half of the store tomorrow, knowing I'm sure to walk away happy. The only reason I didn't want to give such a good review is because I don't want others to be shopping there too! Lol! read more

I love this rack and how close it is to my neighborhood and how they do have some super great deals here and honestly if you spend some time there.. you'll walk out making a minor dent in your wallet (it is still the rack, hello?!?!). This is on the smaller end of the racks. Lots of variety and this place doesn't get too crowded like the Mission Valley store. Staff are friendly and the registers are well manned for a quick checkout. Lots of parking and easy freeway access. read more

Are the staff surly because they have to deal with inconsiderate entitled cell phone zombies all day? Or because they're paid so little they just don't care? Or because they're just not nice people? Or all of the above? And management... Was it their brilliant idea to make the check out line wind through a twisting isle stocked to the brim with candy and other kiddie purple faced screaming plastic "I WANT IT" crap, a veritable tunnel of tantrums to endure as the lines inches towrads the next disinterested and cranky clerk? Janelle rang me up and asked at least 6 times if I wanted to open up a Nordstrom card after saying no each time she became very angry in a passive aggressive way. Really such a turn off to shoppers to have this woman act this way and be harassed at checkout to sign up for things. read more

Came in to buy some "cocktail attire". Never quite sure what the descriptors for dress code quite mean. Jeff in the Men's section was very helpful!! He helped me find the right balance between price and style, without needing to compromise on price!! Jeff has been amazing! Extremely unhappy with costumer service . I shop here all the time never have I returned or exchanged anything after use. I bought shoes for $70 and literally could not wear them for more than couple of minutes. From my car to my work and then I took them off. I had to put bandaids on because of how they rubbed on the back of my feet. Barely any marks on the soles and they would not exchange. No understanding whatsoever. Didn't want money back just store credit .. but I really won't go back. read more

I have been counting down the days until this store opened because it is only one mile from my apartment (dangerous). Literal dream come true. I was initially concerned about parking because the Whole Foods side is a nightmare, however, there was plenty of parking. I found a gorgeous Tory Burch purse and several other items. Very nice store, cranky, super, high strung and bossy female manager, long checkout lines. We picked up a few things here this past week. The shopping experience was okay. I needed to return something real quick today and the line took FOREVER. The woman ahead of me asked if she could go to the express lane with cash and they said no, only cards. The Opening was very nice: store very clean , organized and fully stock ; all the cashiers were there (short line) and if help was needed someone was there . NOW only 2 months after the Grand Opening the store is looking like a old store (like Mission Valley) no new stock, sized are all mixed up, no customer service , and now only 2 or 3 over worked cashiers!!! I went to returned the cleaning kit for UGG boots since I don't want to spend money check in the luggage just for the kit. So I went to return it and turned out the sales lady charged me twice for the hat I bought but not the kit. Stopped in here on my lunch break and ended up waiting in an enormous line to check out that wrapped all the way around the store. Just like other reviews, checkout staff was extremely slow and carefree. They even stopped in between customers to hang up every single item of clothing that had just been returned. Very poor customer service all around. Selection is okay, but definitely not as extensive as the Mission Valley location. I work across the street and will pop in on my lunch break every few weeks. Each time I've visited the staff have been pretty curt and obviously disinterested in being friendly and courteous to their shoppers. Stopped in while on vacation. Good inventory, pleasant fitting room assistant, and not crazy busy like the Racks in the North Bay. I have to take two stars off due to the service I received at the check out. I bought a pair of very nice RayBan sunglasses, a top, necklace and a pair of jeans and the cashier just threw the glasses in the bag. I asked if they had a case to put the glasses in and she said they did not. Completely shocked that she would just throw them in the bag....at least wrap them in tissue or hand them to me. Love love love it....... It's one of the top 10 Nordstrom racks in the country, which means that this store gets 1st pick at items.....which is a great thing.... I read some of the other reviews and felt them to be a little harsh.... Parking is heavy anywhere especially around the holidays, as far as customer service...... Well what do you expect when any new place opens up, they are working out the kinks and no one wants to lose their job especially in these economical times. Ok. So I went late Saturday evening. I had purchased some I'll fitting stuff at the picked over San Marcos store and wanted to return it. I also made a huge mistake in buying MAC eyeliner at San Marcos store. Guess what. It's all dried up. Great! So you are selling old dried up MAC. Anyway. The return process went smoothly. Very long lines and not enough check out people. I got a store credit. I went back to shop and it did take me about an hour to find a cute outfit I got a Sanctuary skirt and Michael Kors shirt. Very cute. The problem in shopping at this store was the actual customers. Parents brought their young children in and literally let them run roughshod all over the store. These kids were screaming. Knocking over clothing. Hiding in the middle of the hung up clothing. One kid charged me as I was picking out a top. He came roaring out of the middle of the round clothing display. I didn't know he was there. The parents would occasionally yell REALLY LOUD. "Juan Pablo" Ve más despacio. !!! Juan Pablo and his sister never missed a beat. The mother yelled so loud it literally made my ears hurt There were two other kids behaving this way And the parents had no control over their children. The staff not saying anything and allowing these kids to behave like well. Animals poses a safety hazard and makes the shopping experience less than perfect. The staff just pretended like they didn't notice. read more
