Another Former Employee Review. Customer service has gone down. Call us picky or whatever but when we worked there, we were attentive, and we went above and beyond, we made sure to greet every single person. I went this past weekend, and we made a return but the sales associate on the second floor (department to the right when heading out towards the mall exit) made my partner feel like she was making the mistake when the sales associate clearly didn't listen when we mentioned "we want to return this and we want to purchase this in the same transaction." Then she (person behind the counter) proceeds to stare at us for making her do another transaction. First of all, we told you, second, it's your job. We've been nothing but patient with your attitude. I'm sorry but I don't think retail is for you, definitely not Nordstrom. Next, we waited in line for 10 minutes, the only person there couldn't even acknowledge us and say, "I'll be right with you, Thank you for your patience." It's unfortunate that I don't and I'm sure others don't, receive the same service we gave when we were there. We didn't care if you were buying or not. But these new employees will literally not say anything to you unless you're holding something in your hands. People are buying online and returning in your stores because of the lack of customer service that Nordstrom was known for. read more

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at approximately 5:32 p.m., while waiting in the pick-up line, I experienced what I believe was a clear act of discrimination. I was first in line, phone in hand, ready to scan my order -- a Nuna car seat valued at $900 -- when cashier Ana deliberately chose to skip me and assist the customer behind me instead. It was obvious that I was next, and yet she ignored me completely. This behavior felt humiliating, disrespectful, and discriminatory. No customer should ever be made to feel invisible or judged based on how they look or dress. Thankfully, another cashier, Kenneth T, stepped in and provided outstanding service. His professionalism and kindness helped turn an upsetting experience into a more positive one. Nordstrom needs to ensure that all employees are properly trained to treat every customer equally and with respect. No one should ever be disregarded or made to feel lesser because of appearance or assumptions. After this experience, I'm seriously reconsidering where I spend my money, and I hope Nordstrom takes immediate action to address this kind of behavior. read more

I love Nordstroms. They have great deals during their half yearly sale and winter sale of entry level high end brands. This location, however, has given me an unpleasant shopping experience. The women's section is ok. I accompany several girlfriends to look at shoes and the sales persons were quite friendly and helpful. The same cannot be said about the men's department. I get different treatment, depending on what I wear. If I browse in casual clothes like jeans and polo shirt with Ecco shoes I'm ignored. Not a single person asked if I needed help. Idiots! Because I was about to spurge on those days. If I go in and browse with a Brooks Brothers suit and Ferragamo shoes, they can't wait to get up all on my *beep*. Treat everyone equal and don't judge a book by its cover. They do have some nice bathrooms. The Espresso Bar outside the first floor has great coffee and customer service. I have noticed they have taken off Ferragamo shoes from the men's shoe section. Kind of disappointing. read more

I came here last week to buy some accessories for a dinner party I was attending. I don't have the best sense of style and matching but needed to put together a cute outfit with matching necklaces and bracelets. What really stood out about this store, was even though I was just buying a necklace and some accessories I got the same level of customer service as if I was spending hundreds. The associate, who I believe was Shireen helped me put together matching accessories that would also go with the dress I was wearing. She was very friendly and outgoing - and that night I got so many compliments on my outfit and jewelry. Who knew the nordstrom associate put it all together for me? Another example of why I love this place ! Searched high and low for months, months I tell you, for the perfect Tuxedo cufflink set. I decide to saunter into Nordy's and alas: the perfect mother-of-pearl cufflink and stud set. Wasn't cheap but was very worth it (who needs electricity for a few months). These are 'special' studs with a reinforced backing so the 'studs' don't pop out. Last time at the opera, had a wardrobe malfunction: studs popped out of my shirt and luckily the people sitting next to me were able to find them (after laughing their ass off). Was so embarrassing, felt like an installment to the highly proclaimed Ernest series (i.e. Ernest goes to the Opera, "See my Studs Vern ?") read more

We ran across the Nordstrom's Cafe in the Hillsdale Shopping Center kind of our of desperation. We were both tired and just needed a "sit down" meal. What a shock, incredible service (you order at the counter and they bring it to you), the food is very high quality, the atmosphere is pleasant.....I just want to stress the wait staff and quality of food. These people are the wait staff you thought no longer existed, and the quality of food....it's actually good for you and very tasty. We eat out a lot, and now we stop by Nordstrom's as a dinner destination (go figure), when we need a very pleasant atmosphere and excellent food. read more

Too bad I was a legit shopper, you a$$holes were stalking me like I was a thief. We purchase shoes for my child right before closing on 10/3, when I purchased them I could hear a woman's voice on the phone questioning how many shoes I was purchasing. Security, you could be a little more incognito. I use to work for Nordstrom years ago, and remember the security team being looser wannabe cops. I'll sucker you guys next time, so I can waste your time. Get a real job security, you're just a bunch of losers who can't get real jobs. Your store sucks, lame products. Where is the customer service??? Customer service is sub par for the store in general but the worst has to be in women's dresses or whatever it's called in the corner of the second floor. There were at least 3+ salespeople in this department on my visit. Not one acknowledged my presence or offered to help. When I finally asked one of them for help she was cold and not friendly at all. Not very Nordstrom like San Mateo store, tsk tsk. read more

The WORST experience with a sales person named Christina Tito. She has zero customer service skills. She is curt, stressed out, condescending, and interrogating when making simple, straight forward return. If she is going to treat Nordstrom customers so poorly, why are you working in the service industry? She needs to learn what Nordstrom customer service is all about or does Hillsdale Nordstrom stop caring about their customers?!? read more

I tend to shop at boutiques. But, go to Nordstrom for their amazing sales. They have great shoes. Needed to add color to my workout clothes so decided to try Nordstrom's ActiveWear Department on 3rd floor. Received excellent customer service from Leanna. She pulled items and did a great job of helping me pull together looks. I will be giving Nordstrom more of a chance with things other than their sales now. Excellent service. read more

Nordstrom is one of my favorite department store. I love their great selection of denim jeans located on the second floor. My favorite brand of jeans are; Hudson, Paige, AG, and Joe's jeans. Plus size , vanity sizes , all sizes available, but most importantly they have my size. Exceptional customer service , attentive staff and a great selection of my favorite denim jeans ! read more

I find that through the years this Nordstrom has slipped away with its quality service and merchandise. I now have to drive to either SF Nordstrom or Stanford Shopping center to seek out selection for better ware. This Hillsdale location is too casual with attire to choose from, and very sparse. It's too bad, because this used to be such a great store. read more

Not bad at all. I had an issue with a pair of shoes on Friday that were sperating from the soul of the shoe. I took the shoes back to nordstroms and explained to them I have not worn them that often and showed them a receipt of purchase from 5 months ago. No questions asked... This is the worst Nordstrom I have ever shopped at. The management here is very rude and disrespectful. When trying to get my issue resolved I felt more like a police suspect being interrogated than a valued Nordstrom customer. I will take my business to the Valley Fair Nordstrom from now on. read more

I went shopping with my sister the other day in the department where they sell scarves and other little things, and I was irritated. The manager of the department was so annoying, she was not pleasant to see or speak to. But I am pleased with the return policy. read more

This nordstrums being the closest to home, i like coming here to buy clothes for work. Place is nice, employees are usually helpful. Lots of different styles to choose from. I just like nordstrums and this one seems to work out fine for me. read more

Love me some Nordstrom. Always great customer service, very friendly. This place can get a little noisy when the mall is busy, so if you don't like that, avoid rush times. Otherwise, love shopping here, and great return policy!! read more
