This has been on my bucket list to try because I heard about them through Hidden Omakase and Hidden Omakase is my fave restaurant. The food was okay. It was nothing phenomenal and everything tasted average. I enjoyed the food but it was never mind blowing, make me dance type of food. I would have given 3.5 or 4 if service was a bit better. We had a trainee waitstaff and so it was a little bit understandable for our water to not be refilled all the time but we got all of the stuff we ordered besides, the scallop foie gras. Seeing people come in and get all their orders first and us still waiting was a little bit infuriating. I don't blame the waitstaff more so the chef. read more

Man oh man I love hand rolls and I love more spots to go to We usually go to handiez but this place was amazing. Quality and flavor wise it was so amazing. I got the fancy foie gras toro and Wagyu roll but my favorite was the spicy salmon. The spicy aoli they mix in is so different and so refreshing compared to the normal spicy mayo other places do. I had two reorders of it. And the wagyu tartare oh man so sweet and rich and buttery it was the best appetizer We got the set meal and depending on your roller we noticed some made them substantially more filling while some of the rollers made them substantially smaller so lack of uniformity wasn't cool but all in all good experience and great sushi read more

Fresh handrolls, tasty drinks, and chill vibes earlier in the evening that turn into party vibes later in the night. The handrolls and appetizers we tried were delicious. Standouts for me were the Steak & Eggs appetizer and the Spicy Salmon handroll. Go for a combo set so you can try a variety of rolls you might not normally try. Like other reviews mentioned, there is an attached bar that is hidden off to the side. Came here pretty early on a Friday night with a friend; although it started off pretty empty in the restaurant side, we moved to the hidden bar after dinner and it ended up chaotic and PACKED wall to wall the closer it got to midnight. It's very moody in there, with dim lighting and hundreds of origami paper cranes hanging from the wall. Highly recommend the Nice to Matcha cocktail - it's so pleasantly sweet from the pandan that you don't notice how strong it is. I tried a couple sips of other drinks here and there from my friend, and though they were pricy and I didn't enjoy them as much, I have to give credit for the menu creativity. Our bartender and waitress were both very attentive, which I appreciated. This does feel very similar, almost indistinguishable from other certain handroll restaurants in the Houston area, but parking here is less stressful due to the parking lot. Started off by walking into the hidden bar where Hao?made me a perfect refreshing Gin yuzu Thai chili cocktail off the menu. It was delicious. We then made our way back to the main dining for our dinner. Nice intimate space. Our server was nice and offered goood recs. Was apologetic anytime there was a delay with service. We got the hamachi crudo and steak and eggs to share. And I went with the norigasm set. A little organizing on the timing of coursing would have been nice since the handroll's can't really sit around. Two of us got our first rolls of the set before the shareables made it out- or at the same time as I should say. The steak and eggs was rich and creamy, and actually quite reminiscent of a cheeseburger. Hamachi crudo was solid, we used the leftover truffle sauce for dipping others in! Ha (also a great suggestion from our server!) All the handrolls were filled with good bite sized fresh fish. My favourite was the chopped scallop. Plenty of parking in the strip lot. Handroll / Crudo central! Made reservations ahead of time for a Sunday evening and surprisingly they were quite busy. Next door was a speakeasy called Hidden Bar that you can walk through Norigami to and even in there was pretty packed. There were 24 seats which is a lot larger than other hand roll spots. Ordered a mocktail to start of with which was the Passion Fruit Refresher, very refreshing drink and you can taste the passion fruit quite well. For starters, got the Hamachi Crudo (Ponzu, Cilantro, Truffle, Serranos, Fried Garlic) & the Scallop Crudo (Tomatillo, Fresno, Chili Oil). Both were very light and fresh, but I would probably get the Hamachi Crudo again only. For the main, got the Norigasm which included Yellowtail, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Scallops, Blue Crab, Toro handrolls. My favorite and I even ordered a 2nd one, was the Blue Crab hand roll. They did not skimp on the crab meat and were very generous. I really liked the Yuzu Mayo/Aioli it was tossed in. I even got a side of the aioli which was an additional .50 to the bill. Also got the Shroom Handroll and it had interesting sweet flavors. The most unique roll was the Spicy Salmon for me. I personally did not taste any spice to it, but I am normalized to spicy scallops or tuna but not salmon, so I thought it was a unique mix. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was really excited when I heard Norigami was opening a brick an mortar spot - all their pop ups looked so good and I never had a chance to check any of them out. Plus living in Sugar Land, it's nice having a hand roll spot that is a little bit closer and not all the way in the Heights! The vibe is simple and surrounds the prep area where you can watch the staff create your order. We tried the steak and eggs appetizer which had a nice flavor and texture - my main suggestion is to maybe add a few more pieces of bread to even out the protein / carb ratio. All the handrolls we had were fresh and delicious, with the favorite being the Menage foie gras of course. I hope to see more items on their menu in their future, or some daily specials to keep people wanting to come back and try new things. While I would definitely come back here for their food, honestly what I was more excited about were the drinks! I loved the cocktails which you can get both at the dining area or inside their hidden bar. The vibe inside the bar was fun. The setup is similar to hando and their kanpai club bar, except hidden bar has a brighter eclectic vibe with a lot more seating, making for a more comfortable space. New hand roll spot, that's close by me? I'm in! Visited this place for the first time on Saturday early afternoon. After their official grand opening earlier that week. Easily able to walk-in, as the place had just opened for the day. Service - was great. An overabundance of staff (not a bad thing I prefer over service than under service). Maybe they were expecting a large crowd later? The sushi chef was friendly and asked me my thoughts after each hand roll. I appreciate that they want feedback. They definitely imphasive quality service, which will serve them well. They made a point to invite me back for the next visit after my meal, which was nice. Food - I decided on the 4some (4 hand rolls). The first was actually my fav of the group. Bluefin tuna, just a yum bite. Next, the Spicy Salmon, very fatty and rich, not spicy. We popped in on a weekday evening around 8pm and were told a big party of about 15~ were coming in soon and since they only have 24 seats we might have a bit of a wait. We went into the hidden door that leads you into the bar. Again, great decor and vibes. Was pleased with the cocktails and service we had! We ordered some apps while waiting (steak and egg, smoked hamachi crudo &bluefin crudo) but by the time we got these, we got told we had some spots at the restaurant bar. Nothing about the apps impressed us, just standard but nothing bad. We each did the 4some and an uni handroll. Double seaweed was interesting. They're served on these beautiful wooden trays. Everything is beautifully done. we ended with a fat ass portion of uni each- that was good. Norigami is arguably the best sushi handroll spot in Houston. Fun vibes, date night ambiance, and a great speakeasy type bar to match. First off, shout out to our waitress Celeste and bartender Anh for the best service. They knew what we wanted without us having to ask, or if we couldn't make up our minds, they gave great recommendations. I didn't catch our sushi chef's name, but he did a great job making our handrolls as well. Food wise, the top things to get are their: Hamachi Crudo Steak & Eggs Spicy salmon handroll Spicy scallop handroll Blue crab handroll A5 Wagyu handroll These are the 6 essentials on the menu. While there are other specialty handrolls and crudos available that are great to try at least once, the 6 mentioned are the ones I would continuously come back here for repeatedly. Then as far as drinks go, I would alternate between the "Side the Sun Rises" and the "Nice to Matcha." Just a heads up, I will say Norigami is more expensive than the other handroll spots in Houston. But rightfully so, the ambiance is nicer, the speakeasy bar makes some great cocktails, and the handrolls tasted like they were higher quality. Their restrooms even have the high tech, heated seat, electronic bidet toilets that you'd find in Japan. 10/10 would recommend the restrooms, they even have individual toothpaste/toothbrush, and "shark week" supplies for women. SO GOOD! I've been to plenty of handroll bars, and Norigami is definitely up there in terms of top favorites in Houston. For appetizer, we were recommend the Hamachi Crudo from three of the servers, and it was delicious, but my personal favorite had to be the Hokkaido Scallop. If you're trying to choose between the 3Some and 4Some, I would go with 4Some because the Blue Crab hand roll was awesome. Or get both! Spicy Salmon was our personal favorite out of the hand rolls we tried. Not to mention, there's a really cute speakeasy inside the space. Service was great. Walked in to a really beautiful restaurant on a Sunday late afternoon around 4:15PM. It wasn't very busy and plenty of seatings. Service was phenomenal. We were immediately seated and our server helped us right away. We ordered some small bites crudos/ spicy edamame and delicious handrolls. I didn't try the actual restaurant, but me and my friends enjoyed the hidden bar. It's a small and intimate space. The decor is whimsical and unique , with origami hanging from the ceiling. I forgot the name of the drink I had, but it was delicious. It tasted very tropical. The drink comes with a show as a bubble is placed on top, and pops to create a vapor cloud. I don't know what the turn out is typically like, but it just so happened that a birthday party was taking place in there the Saturday night we went. The party guests were very nice and inviting, offering us shots, and even birthday cake, which was much appreciated. The music played was great, and we had a really good night here. I have given the bar 4 stars instead of 5, because the process of ordering a drink was somewhat confusing and it took a very long time for the drinks to come out. read more

I love Sushi by Hidden so when I found out they were opening a Norigami, it was immediately on my list of places to try and it definitely did not disappoint! We came after work on a random Thursday for a coworker's birthday. We snuck into the bar to enjoy some cocktails before the rest of our party arrived. That was the first awesome decision of the night! I told the bartender I like vodka, nothing too sweet and he concocted something off menu that was AMAZING!! I loved it but also sad cause it had no name and I'm unsure how to order it in the future! But for tonight, it was called the House Special! And it was DELICIOUS! Both bartenders were so pleasant to talk to, and they both knew how to mix drinks like nobody's business! We tried almost every drink on the menu and all of them were fantastic! I'm not even a gin fan and loved loved the gin drink. One of the drinks had cilantro and garlic and was one of the most interesting things I've ever tasted, but paired well with the sushi and was uniquely amazing! There wasn't a drink we didn't like. But after about 2 a piece, we decided it was time to head over for dinner, even though we could've stayed at the bar all night. My friend says it's one of the best cocktail bars in Houston, hands down.. and we were lacking a good one in the village. Now the food.. it's hard to beat Sushi by Hidden but it was also so different. If you like traditional nigiri, Sushi by Hidden is your place. But if you like a mixture of fabulously concocted flavors, this place has it all. Don't underestimate the small menu, everything has a big flavor profile that was just YUM.. eyes rolled back deliciously is the only way I could describe it. Favorites of the night, Toro, Scallops (and I don't usually even like scallops), the A5 Waygu and my favorite two pieces of the night, cause I had to order another after I tasted my one bite, the foie Gras!! Melt in your mouth goodness but that one bite needs to last longer! Service is fantastic.. from the bar to the kitchen, staff is attentive and friendly. I did a Yelp fail and actually dropped one of my handrolls trying to get the right angle without the shadow.. total epic fail but the restaurant re-made the roll for me and we all just laughed at the most embarrassing moment ever! My friend also doesn't like raw salmon, so we ordered the salmon crudo for the rest of us, but Chef Nick brought out a different single piece of fish, just so my friend wouldn't feel left out! All on the house! Now if that isn't amazing service, I don't know what is!! Everyone was so friendly to talk to! We really enjoyed our night and the amazing amazing food AND drinks! We managed to rack up quite a bill, but it was all so worth it. We left stuffed but also spent about $200/piece just on the food. This review is for the Hidden Bar thats conjoined with Norigami. Wife and I came into Norigami and was instantly greeted with a smiling face. I mentioned about the hidden bar and she directed us to the wall with a very inconspicuous outline. She pushed it open for us and was instantly transferred to another area that is a bit more intimate and distinctly a bar. Inside, you'll be blown away by the really neat interior and all the cranes hanging from the ceiling. Love the ambiance and overall vibe to this place. You'll find the cocktail menu through a QR code and its filled with very unique drinks all ranging from $15+. I got a drink that was garlic heavy which is so unique to me. However despite loving garlic in my food, I didn't particularly like it in my drink. Either way, you'll want to come to the hidden bar here. We visited Norigami's soft opening and thought it was very good. While they quoted us a 60-minute wait when we walked in around 6:30pm on a Friday, the wait was only actually about 15 minutes. During those 15 minutes, we waited in the speakeasy bar attached to the dining area and had a good time in there. They have free appetizers, sake, and champagne, in addition to cocktails you can purchase. It's a little gimmicky, but funny--when you ring the bell for sake, a real person's hand comes out of an ivy-covered wall holding your sake. The food was very good--mostly handrolls, and they have handroll "flights" where they've pre-picked the handrolls for you. All of the rolls I had were very tasty, and service was great. Note that I don't think they have any hot items on the menu, and I believe only one or two of the handrolls have cooked meat. read more

We loved our dinner at Noriegami. My siblings and I ordered so many different rolls!! It was real interesting the way they were plated, deconstructed. A table favorite was the wagyu steak and eggs. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. My favorites were the scallops and blue crab rolls. Everything was flavorful. The scallops app was very good too. Price point was fair, slightly more than others but not drastic. The decor was bare. Mostly just black walls but again, the service and food were great. Some of the rolls took awhile even though there weren't many people. One time we had to ask about a roll because one was brought to me but my date didn't have his and had to wait. There were a few times when one of us had a roll and the other didn't even though we ate at the same pace so we waited a few times for both of us to have food to eat together. The Hidden Bar attached was very cool. Great paper crane decor. Great early 2000s hip hop playing, chill atmosphere, couches and tables. The guy bartender was excellent. The girl completely ignored me when there was no one there and as soon as a couple walked in behind me she immediately went to help them. We made eye contact many times and still nothing. A solid 3.5 stars. Recommend the small bites/apps-- crudos, uni toast and waygu skewers! The handrolls were just fine. Some were better than average-- yellowtail, spicy scallop, blue crab. Others were average--spicy salmon and toro. Not sure why jicama needed to be in multiple of the rolls, I don't think they belonged. The rolls were too stuffed, so by the time that you get to the last half of the rolls, the seaweed was already soggy, which is not how a handroll experience should be. Cocktails were fine, one was better than average. Loved the Paper Crane and the cup that the drink was served in. My husband got their version of a spicy Margarita. Comparing to other margs in the great state of Texas, it was just ok. When my husband ordered the second margarita, a different/wrong drink came out. It was quite strange since the bartender who dropped if off for us ensured us that it was a margarita. We also got the Norigami Spritz, which was way too sweet and for a spritz, did not have enough fizz nor was it refreshing. I did not finish the spritz. Service left more to be desired. For a restaurant where we paid almost $200 before tip, it was below average. We initially ordered two drinks, only one came out, our server did not come to check on us for a solid 10-15 minutes to see whether we were missing anything or if we need to order food in addition to the appetizers. It was incredibly hard to catch the attention of the two servers working and had to call the chef who prepared our food. When we finally got our handroll orders in, they came quickly, which was good because we were ready for more food. But almost too fast? 4 of the 5 rolls came out within 9 minutes. One was missing (even though it was already checked off on their end), so we had to go through the process of eyeing our server again to let her know. I've been to at least 10+ handroll restaurants across the US because it's my absolute favorite way to have sushi. Usually, the chefs are a lot more attentive than they were, and our servers are more attentive as well. There is normally one chef taking care of you, who pays close attention to the coursing of rolls, and makes sure that you have everything you need, including whether you want to order more food/drinks. Here, it seems like no one is "responsible" for you outside of your server. And if your server is swamped, or not great, then you're screwed. They could have used one more server. With the abundance of sushi restaurants and bars that Houston has, I will pass on the opportunity to come back here and won't be recommending this place. Unfortunately, the city has too many great sushi/handroll restaurants with better service, food and drinks that deserve your hard earned money. I originally heard about Norigami from a Chef at Sushi by Hidden who mentioned it's run by the same chef as Hidden and he recommended checking it out. Finally got the chance the other night and it was an experience, to say the least. When we arrived, despite it being a busy Friday evening we did not have any issues finding parking near the front door. We did not have a reservation and seating wasn't available when we arrived. This worked out though because we opted to put our names on the waitlist and grab a drink at the hidden bar, which ended up being way nicer and a better experience than if we were to be seated immediately. The hidden bar had a very nice, dark, upscale feel. Although it was busy and the bar was a little smaller in size we still got a spot at the bar and ordered two glasses of Hibiki on the rocks. The noise level at the bar was perfect and still allowed for conversation. We drank and talked and before we knew it we were getting a text that our seats were ready. When we got to our seats we went a little crazy with the menu...as you can see from the pictures alone. I really wanted to see what this place was made of so we ordered a wide variety of menu items to get a good feel of this place. What ensued was one of the best meals of my entire life. Every bite that came out was seemingly better than the last and each was packed with flavor to an utterly preposterous degree. I won't go into detail on each item but my standout favorites of the night were the Steak and Eggs, Uni Toast, Spicy Scallop, and Otoro. The food was great, but the service here was equally amazing. The hostess was very kind when she told us there were no seats and she was the one that suggested checking out the bar while we waited. The waiter was very attentive and made sure we got everything we ordered to our liking, made some perfect menu suggestions throughout the meal, and made sure our water glasses never got past half empty. The chefs were also a big part of this experience as they made sure the menu items came out at the perfect time and they even handled a few order customization requests with ease. As you can tell from this review, I cannot say enough good things about Norigami. There was 1 time it took about 20min to get an old fashioned but that's likely due to the Hidden Bar's bartenders, not Norigami's. Ambiance is top notch. I didn't get to check out the bathroom because I wasn't there long enough (I should've drank more of the heavenly crisp water they served. I must know the filtration system they use!!!!). The decor is so hip and minimalistic. Feels like the owner is always watching u.... We got quite a few items on the menu. Light bites: steak and eggs 2/5. The steak looked and tasted like.potted meat. You know the one with the devil on it? Very familiar taste growing up in the Phil. The 20 pieces of caviar eggs we enough to add caviar on the menu but to make it noticeable, you'd have to add another $10 caviar bump. No thanks. This would've been better carpaccio style and no mustard steak sauce. We also didn't get the pickled onions in ours.... Otoro sashimi 5/5 this was great. We ended up getting this as dessert. Super melty....get the kazami with it!!! Med Toro sashimi w/truffle 2/5 probably shouldn't have added truffle but the option was mentioned to us. I've had better. Salmon belly sashimi 2/5 generic. Could get similar quality from oishii down the street. Toro handroll 4/5 prob the best handroll out of the ones we tried. Most flavorful combo. Forgettable (set of 3) -Hamachi handroll -blue fin handroll -spicy salmon handroll Scallop handroll 3/5 Foie gras "bite" in the handroll section. This was great but being sold as a handroll when the sushi chef can literally drop the bite in your mouth is a little misleading. This was 4/5 in flavor. Foie gras was cooked.well and melted well. Me and my girlfriend attend norigami with our friends . We heard bout this place through social media and wanted to go check it out . We tried the Norigasm set that comes with Yellow tail - cucumber, aguachile Spicy salmon - spicy aioli , avocado and micro cilantro Spicy scallops - cucumber, chili garlic aioli , yuzu tobiko Blue crab - cucumber , chives , yuzu mayo and fried leeks Toro(fatty tuna) - jicama , friend leeks And I finished ménage Foie Gras which so amazing !! It was full of flavor . I recommend to get the ménage to finish it very rich so it the best finisher. This is only for the foie Gras and uni lovers . Service was good. The chef and worker was very engaging it made it was a very good experience . We went on a regular day during dinner time . The parking spot has plenty of parking spot so parking wasn't an issue. Ambiance was cool and different. it's very dim inside and I believe they have a cool hidden bar next door . It's like a speak easy ? I think that what people call it. This restaurant is phenomenal. The food tastes good. Service is good. Atmosphere is nice. And the bathroom. :0 Heated seats on the toilets. They do the process for the handrolls well... one at a time so it doesn't get soggy. The rolls were bigger than the ones at Handies Duzo, and the price is about the same, so that's nice. The only gripes I have are that the Hamachi Crudo was pretty fishy tasting, and the gluten free soy sauce was ridiculously salty. read more
