I came in to have a dress altered and had a very disappointing experience. The woman at the front was rude and unprofessional from the start. When I asked to try on the dress so I could show how much I wanted it taken up, she refused and told me I couldn't try it on in the shop. She then made comments that I found offensive, saying she didn't want customers walking in and seeing me, an openly Black gay man, wearing a dress because it wouldn't be a good look for her business. She told me to go home, try it on there, take pictures, and come back another day. On top of that, she quoted me an additional $20-$25 more than what I've typically paid for similar alterations. I've been coming to this cleaners since I was a child because it's close to my home, so this experience was especially disappointing. I expect to be treated with respect regardless of what clothing I'm having altered. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this business. read more

So this is my last time here ever. Not only because they are unprofessional but they really need an update. First, I went and had them sew som e patches on my jacket which wasn't finished when they said it would be but for the $30 I paid I would have expected to have them all sewn on. So after a few weeks after realizing she missed a patch I kept going back week after week and the person thatbdid the sewing was never there. I finally caught her today and she asked if I had my receipt. After months no I don't but you definitely should remember your work. I just wanted what's paid for and she tried to charge me again. No matter I found a better cleaners close by and they don't even need a receipt because they track it all by computer with a phone number. Not only are they unprofessional they are over priced. I'm beyond shocked at the way this business operates. My dad said he liked them, and he'd had them work on things here before. I dropped off two skirts and a dress. The skirts were supposed to be hemmed, the dress dry cleaned. $35.00 Dropped off on a tuesday, supposed to pick up on the following tuesday. Well, tuesday came, and they weren't ready yet. Today i came by and it was all ready, but the first skirt was completely destroyed. This was a gorgeous skirt with two layers, and the first layer was clearly cut along some sort of cardboard round pattern. it did not match the bottom skirt at all; it was in some places two inches higher, and in other places dipped below. The stitching was uneven, cheap, and the fabric was wrinkled and caught up several times. I was horrified. I pointed out the discrepency to the clerk, and he said it wasn't messed up; i was just mistaken. I pointed to the problems. Then he said it was just the way it was hanging. so I took it off the hanger and showed him from different angles. Even though I could tell he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the skirt was FUCKED, he still tried to convince me it was okay for a good five minutes, after which he realized it was ridiculous, and he called the manager, who had done the work. She said to give me a FIVE DOLLAR DISCOUNT. No. So he called her back and said that they just would not charge me for the work. I said I wanted to talk to her. On the phone she yelled at me. She accused me of just wanting to get work for free. She said that the skirt was exactly like I asked, and she took the measurements when I came in, and that's where they are. I pointed out to her that the problem wasn't the inches removed, it was the overall workmanship, which was a complete disaster. And then I pointed out I didn't want anything for free, I wanted to PAY HER for the work she advertised, which she didn't deliver. She then hung up on me. The sheer lunacy of first arguing with me about whether they made a mistake, then haggling with me about how much I was going to pay them for the mistake, and then yelling at me and then hanging up on me, is completely beyond my understanding. I mean-- eventually they charged me 10.50 for everything, and the employees apologized for the trouble, but that's not the point. The point is what I got 'for free' is a wrecked skirt, yelled at, and the opportunity to shell out cash somewhere else to find someone else to fix it. Alternatively, I could throw it away, and then I'd be out 88.00 and tax. The bottom line: Linda should not be trusted with anything worth anything. Linda does not know how to sew... I mean, i have friends who sew who could have done this. I just didn't want to bother them. if they mess up anything of yours, they will not take responsibility for it. They will not apologize to you for it, they will argue with you over it, they will accuse you of being at fault throughout the entire ordeal, and they will still charge you something for the pleasure. Owner constantly changes prices. Charges $6 to iron two pairs of slacks and then the next week will charge $5 and the next $5-6 depending on how she feels. Needs to have set prices. Then it's an extra $2 for wash which sometimes doesn't happen. I take in clothes for wash and ironing and pay and the only thing I get is ironed smelly pants. Time to start looking for another shop. Not willing to do credit or debit if it's less than $5. read more

Normandie Cleaners is a small local cleaners located at Normandie and Jefferson - west of USC. I've been bringing my dry cleaning there for years without any problems. The reason I go there is because I live about 1/2 block away. There is a seamstress (the owner, who now works at a second location), however I wouldn't recommend them for repairs beyond replacing buttons or other minor repairs. read more

I don't recommend ANYONE to go to this trashy ass place. I took one of my favorite pull over sweaters here. I got it back with out the string that goes in the hood. When I came back to confront the lady she said she'll look for it and let me know if she finds anything. I came back and Of course she didn't. She told me that next time I should let her know that my hoodie has a string on it. That is by far the dumbest shit someone has ever said to me. Especially coming from someone one who's line of work is dealing with clothes. Now I'm stuck with a a 150$ pullover with no fuckin string in it to wear in a way that I like. I think Normandie Cleaners is wonderful and would highly recommend their laundry service. I receive courteous and prompt service each time I dropoff/pickup my laundry. I do all our tablecloths there (I work for an organization at USC) and they are pressed and cleaned beautifully, and at a very fair price. They've even turned great quantities around quite quickly for me when I've had urgent requests. We plan on continuing to use them for years -- it's reassuring to find a service you can rely on. read more
