Dan and Jill from Normco Appliance Service were amazing, and because of them, we have hot water finally. From the first phone call to them after my Rheem Warranty email, I knew that these guys were the right company for us. Jill scheduled the service at exactly the right time on the right day when I had a day off from work. She called to confirm the service time with my wife and I right before the service. I had installed a Rheem water heater from Home Depot about a year ago. The water was too hot and shortly after purchasing it a technician was sent out and he changed the heater control sensor. It did not work. Recently I called Rheem again and they sent out Daniel Lane from Normco. I am so glad since Daniel fixed the problem by tweaking the pilot. Normco just completed annual de-scaling of my tank-less hot water heater. As in the past, Jill, the office manager, was most polite and professional. Dan texted me when he was on the job site and updated me. His work is awesome. Most competitors, flush for at most 30 minutes but Dan flushed my unit for an hour. Although vinegar works, Dan used a superior product to ensure my unit was completely descaled. He suggested we do this annually rather than upsell me to have this flushing done every six months. He explained that if there were more occupants, flushing may be required every six months which makes total sense. Normco is a great value/ read more

Having interacted with Jill twice, and my fiancé having done so once, we both agree: Jill is problematic. She conveys, though her words and her attitude, that she doesn't care whether they get your business or not. I had a relatively simple problem with my hot water heater: the installer had used the wrong vent. At least, that's what their technician told me when he came out. What Jill didn't tell me before sending him out was that he was going to charge me $185 just for the house call. I paid it, but I was not happy about it because they did not tell me in advance. The technician told me that the part would be about $450, plus labor to install at $185 per hour. I estimated about $850 all in to get the new vent installed. When I called to schedule it, Jill told me it would be $1200. When I asked why the price was so high, she told me the part was $750, and that her own technician must not have been up to date on the price. But that also meant about 3 hours of work to install a vent. (The most expensive one I found on Amazon was $290, with many coming in much lower. So I have to assume they're marking up the parts prices as well. Nothing immediately wrong with that, but a 2 - 3x markup on parts seems a bit extreme.) When I balked at the price, Jill said simply, "You don't have to use us." Don't worry, Jill; I won't. We got it done elsewhere, and we were treated much more pleasantly and professionally. I've read the owner of this place go off on customers who post negative remarks about Jill before. Feel free. That won't solve the problem you've got, though. I have no motivation to post a poor review other than to let other customers know what's in store. read more

Dan was at the address promptly. He was very friendly. He told me I could have the Water Heater replaced or just have the plastic valve changed to one made of copper. Should I say WOW ??? Ok...WOW My water heater went out Sunday night. I called for warranty info and was given an authorization number along with multiple providers. On Monday morning I called each provider one by one, leaving voicemail messages at each. At about 10am...less than 30 minutes after my calls, I received a call from Normco. The rep asked about my problem and verified the authorization number. She then advised a service person would be available between 2-5 that same day. She then told me a service call was $189 and I found many companies with 1/2 the service price. Sorry I'm late from last year but had a problem with my Rheem Water Heater, the nicest person came to repair it as it had been leaking at the bottom of the tray holding it. He also replaced don't know what you call it at the bottom of the heater with copper instead of a plastic one. Since then no leaking of water in the tray. I am writing this review on behalf of a friends conversation and experience with Normco, as they do not have a personal computer so I will do my best to relate this. Normco arrived on time to service a water heater. Tech determined the source of the problem but did not have the part on his truck so he would go get the part from a nearby plumbing business. The long and short of this was the customer was charged for the travel time to get the part, yet the tech sat in his truck for part of this service call and customer figures he was excess charged for 'some extra down time' to the tune of their hourly rate which was around $165?/ hr or so, The tech did resolve the problem but customer felt he was way overcharged. When customer called the office about this, the lady there was defensive and justified the charges.... saying they did solve the problem, did they not? While they seem competent, my friend was not pleased with the bill and felt overcharged due to the bind he was in. He just wanted to share this on Yelp with others so they know what to expect of Normco.... and that they will be defensive and justify their over charges. read more

John came out today to my Silver Lake house to perform routine service on my Carrier packaged heat pump that is mounted on my flat roof. He explained all the work he performed. Moreover, he found the remaining source of stubborn roof leaks associated with the original Heat pump installation. He provided me recommendations on how to have this issue properly repaired. I must be honest. I haven't had a service tech out yet, but after a wonderful and understanding phone call with Jill at Normco, I decided to write this review about her. I thought I'd be nice and say a few nice words about the person who answers Norm's phone--and really probably runs things. However, when I got to this page, many of the comments were a'ready about Jill and her service, honesty, compassion and willing-to-listen ear. Norm, (if there is one,) you're not paying her enough. Now, rather than going in to detail about my awful Rheem Water Heater, I now understand why that's their name. I feel "rheemed." So much so, I'm lucky I can sit down. Contacted Normco regarding a warranty repair on my whirlpool water heater, whose burner went bad, via Yelp. Norman responded back and suggested I get a parts authorization from whirlpool to cover the cost of the part since I was still under warranty and gave an upfront price for labor. Got the parts authorization number and called back Normco on 3/30/2022. They were able to get a service tech out the same day. Water heater stopped working. Burner would not stay on and water was cold. Remembering my last service with Normco i called them again over the weekend (they were closed). 8am Monday morning i got a call from Jill. They were at my place in less then 4 hours and within 45 minutes they replaced what was needed and i have hot water again! since it was still under warranty again it only cost $98, same price as couple years ago when i used them. Normco is a great local company that I had the pleasure to hire to replace a Rheem tankless water heater that died after 10 years. Normco sent a technician the next day and he was able to diagnose the problem and went the extra mile to call Rheem customer service to see if any part of my unit was still covered under warranty. Unfortunately, the unit was too far gone to fix and recommended that it be replaced. Normco gave a highly competitive proposal that I took after calling another company for a quote and the new unit was installed the following day, even though they had to get it delivered to them. After the technician installed the new unit, he gave a thorough explanation of future annual maintenance and said that if done regularly, the new unit will last for 20 years. The final good news was that when I received the final bill, the technician told the office manager to deduct some minor costs for supplies as it was not necessary for the install. Our water heater wasn't making hot water anymore Thursday night and was backfiring and was very scary to say the least! (Apparently it was a known problem and a recall on my Kenmore unit). Friday morning, I called into the organizer of the recall, and I was given a few names of contractors. Once I did my research on a few of them, Normco seemed to be a good one. I called at 9am, and talked with Jill. She was enthusiastic, understood the issue, and knew all about the backfiring issue, and let me know that a technician would be at our place within a few hours and that he had the replacement part. And sure enough, John showed up within 2hrs, and changed out the burner assembly and wellah... no more backfiring, and hot water again by lunch time. All I have to say is WOW!! These guys are awesome and helped us out quickly!! They had great customer service, and got us hot water again promptly. A household without hot water is a time to panic, but not when you have these guys. I called back to Jill later that Friday afternoon to thank her and John. These folks are actual godsends who probably saved me $1k+ in needless work. My two-year-old Rheem water heater was making a loud booming sound and emitting a gas smell. I called out the gas company right away, and the tech said I needed a plumber. I went through my home warranty service, who sent another company out to fix it. After multiple service appointments with that other company, incorrect assessments, and needless replacement parts being overnighted, I was finally told I needed a new water heater altogether.... but that they couldn't do the replacement for me. After a week of this nightmare, I called Normco. Jill was the first person I talked to out of at least a dozen people at other companies who didn't seem like she was giving me the runaround. First she quoted a really good price for replacing the water heater. But then she told me, "that sounds like a problem we can fix in two minutes for 98 bucks." She got me a service appointment later that day, and lo and behold, a miracle worker named Dan showed up at the very beginning of the appointment window and fixed the problem immediately. He said my water heater wasn't getting enough gas because my earthquake safety unit on the gas main had tripped. The gas company tech should have caught it. The two technicians from the other plumbing company with decades of experience should have fixed it without issue. Instead I spent a week without hot water and wasted hours on the phone every day. Normco could have gone along with that other company's recommendation, and charged me a ton of money to replace my perfectly good water heater. Instead, they fixed the real problem problem for a fraction of the cost, and seemed genuinely outraged on my behalf. Dan actually apologized for having to charge me the 98 dollars, because he fixed it so fast. And then Jill called me the next day to check in and make sure everything was still working correctly. My 5 year old Rheem tankless water heater started leaking. I originally contacted some other company that was leaning towards charging me over $3,000 to replace the unit prior to even examining it! Checked with manufacture for an exchange rather than trying to immediately sell me a new heater - that kind of honesty wins long-term customers. Conscious of the clock, when Tagaki had him on hold, he reassembled the unit, got it in (temporary) working order, and let me know he would call back once the manufacturer responded.
