Don't get better than this for breakfast!!
    Dunkin W.

This is a perfect example of your typical "Up-North" diner with all the warmth and charm you can expect from folks..."Up North" away from all the crap down south. ;). Came here with my Brother a few weekends ago while visiting our sister and so glad we did. The food was beyond perfect...albeit we were starving, everything we ordered was amazing. The toast, perfect. The Eggs, perfect. The bacon...god-like. The pancake...I'm running out adjectives but let's just say I needed a moment after my first bite. They lay those babies out on the same grill they grill everything else on...which is why, that pancake was amazing. Light, fluffy, but most importantly...crazy delicious! Enjoy Alpena - this is a great little gem!

Dirty, unloved atmosphere. Sub par service and food. The hair in my breakfast was not an extra charge and no compensation was offered.

Coneys are the best in town. Breakfast- try the corned beef hash. Prices are reasonable, just a good local place

After eggs, toast, and coffee on a whim last week on my way into work I decided to come back with my friend Lu to give their breakfast a real try.

A slice of homemade bread with butter was a nice touch. I had a delicious Cheboygan blood orange beer and a glass of decent Malbec with my "steak." Sadly the rest of the food was disappointing. I ordered the t-bone special. For $18 in today's economy, I thought this was a steal. However, the cut was approximately 1/4" thick. The flavor wasn't bad but there was no meat to sink my teeth into and it was tough even though it was cooked correctly to my medium rare preference. It was also covered in onions - not sure why - which were undercooked. The baked potato was tiny by steakhouse standards. The salad mix and shredded cheese came out of a bag, though the croutons and cucumber slices were fresh and crunchy. I dined here while traveling in the summer several years ago and was looking forward to another good meal in a local restaurant. Tonight's meal sadly fell short. I feel like I should've eaten at the nearby Applebee's or Culver's. At least it would have been predictable. I hope that this establishment returns to its former standards.

Breakers has a casual, sports bar setting. There are several television stations broadcasting. You…read morecan play Keno and chat with friendly folk. The main issue was that we were really hungry, having spent hours waiting on auto repair. The brisket tacos did not satisfy but to alleviate hunger. The flour tortillas were what my sister called 'raw'. They were not heated at all. The brisket meat was lukewarm warm. The cabbage slaw was raw. There was a dab of chunky plastic jar salsa already placed in the middle of each taco. Chips and salsa: the salsa was in a very small plastic thimble. We couldn't even fit a chip into the salsa. The best part about our dinner: the server asked if everything was good. I told her that it was definitely not my favorite EVER. The wonderful thing about this was that she asked me to explain. She did not show an animosity and was truly inquisitive about our dislike of the food. She said that she would tell 'him'. I am assuming that 'he' would be the cook. I appreciated her concern because the bill was about $40 and when my sister can't finish her meal that's a problem. It was about 430 and I hadn't eaten all day so I did finish mine but I couldn't say that I was not pleased with it. Although nothing was spoiled and it certainly could've been worse. I don't know if I could trust going back. I think that they could do a real light marinade on the cabbage to soften it a bit and if they fried the tortillas and maybe offered corn or tortilla in the beginning, it would be an improvement. Or how about if the salsa so called and in such a tiny vessel, it wasn't tasteless but clearly store-bought. Any restaurant should be able to do something with this information. I don't mean to be negative or demeaning, but I do intend to given an honest review based on my impression. Good luck Breakers. I was actually very happy to see that something was open during this flooding season. Unfortunately, I would've driven 50 miles further to have a better dinner.
