STOP THE DECEPTION!!! You have a good quality product but this bull $hit! at the bottom of the menu embodies the classic trend of "junk fees." For those of you who have not noticed, the bottom of the menu has box that states, "Rather than raise menu prices, we add a 6% kitchen fee to your check. This fee is then distributed to our hardworking culinary staff who do not participate in gratuities. As always, we are grateful for your patronage and generosity." Just price your food and treat your kitchen with the respect they deserve. We will all still support your restaurant but will all feel less duped. The food flavors ARE well balanced and thoughtfully created. However, without a say in the mandatory 6% add-on fee, the kitchen should then be held accountable for executing the dishes with precision. Nearly all of our hot food was delivered NOT HOT. The fish dishes contained an unacceptable amount of pin bones and, while the flavor is so well imagined in your house-made guacamole, can you slow down for a second and actually make SOME EFFORT to break up the large chucks of avocado? I have done culinary workshops at elementary schools with superior execution of food preparation. Service is attentive, even during the peak dinner rush. During the summer months, when the patio is open, the staff impressively never fails to maintain the same level of attention to the patio guest as the main dining areas. We only hit one hiccup theme with out servers in the last five visits with friends to North County, at that has been that the staff seem oblivious, or poorly versed, in the daily specials and how to charge for them. For example, I should not have to remind you that your Saturday burger BOGO50 special, EACH WEEK, should be reflected on the final bill. The beauty of eating in the other "North County" (Northern California's Petaluma, Napa, Sonoma... ) is the simplicity and freshness of the food. If I may, the "honesty" of the dish. Your SoCal version is lazy. To call yourselves "North County" and infuse this distasteful kitchen fee is anything but honest. If you want honest, how about going the complete opposite way and eliminate all fees altogether, and just price your product where you and the public can meet. read more

Amazing food, amazing service, but... AGAIN a Denver restaurant requiring an absurd "service fee" for back of house of 6% with no signage. Sorry, but it's silly. I'm not ok with 1-2%, but I let that go. 6% is coming out of your servers' tips (now doing 14%) because you chose to not pay your employees more and assume the customer will cover. If you want to require a 20%, or a 6% fee, put a notice up so consumers can decide. Your neighbors Lowry beer garden include 20%, but at least they let customers know. We had never been here despite living close to it. The service was excellent. We got a table quickly early on a Friday night. The portion sizes are huge. I had the California burrito which was so tasty. I can't wait to have it again. My husband has the taco plate and was excited to have taco options that included seafood. We got there just at Happy Hour around 3pm on a Sunday so was nice to see we could save a few dollars on the items on the regular menu I like anyway. I was excited to try oysters but they were not as good as I have had them before and the Elote I got was Burt on one side which they covered with the sauce. North County is one of those places I'll always come back to, even though I no longer live on that side of town. It's charming, tasty, and the service has always been excellent for me. We went in for Saturday brunch and were seated immediately. To be fair, we went when they opened at 10am. It didn't fill up completely by the time we were done, but there were a few larger groups and the bar had a handful of people. I love the Southern California vibe. The menu reflects SoCal's north county charm. I had the Huevos Rancheros, a mimosa with freshly squeezed juice, and shared the tres leches French toast. I'm not much of a Huevos Rancheros gal, but it came highly recommended by our server so I gave it a chance. I wanted to lick the plate after I was done, it was so good!! We came here for dinner the other night with friends, and were very happy with our meal. We started with the watermelon salad, which was fresh and had a nice zing to it. We also shared chips and guac, which was good. I had fish tacos, which were delicious and filling, with a fresh, fruity salsa and cabbage slaw on top. We loved North County so much we came back again and quickly. Somehow I missed a picture of the Ahi Tina Guacamole again but consistency was there and was so delicious I'd order it as an entree in the future. We tried additional tacos this time including grilled fish, filet mignon and both blackened and beer battered shrimp. If you've seen Maverick and loved it you need to visit this restaurant. As soon as I walked in the bar and decor reminded me instantly of the movie. The staff was very knowledgeable of the menu but they are a little short staffed so be patient and enjoy their amazing margs! Truly I think they're my favorite in town. I've been here a few times, I've noticed it's become more of a self-service establishment as opposed to the last time we were there. Upon arrival we were told we can sit anywhere it's open. There were already cups and a carafe of water at the table for us to pour ourselves. No ice offered even though it's hot in the patio. The waitress welcomed us and said there's a QR code to scan to place our order. We did that without an issue. Minutes later the food came out. We ate. We were asked in passing if everything was fine, it was. When we were done we sat there until we realized we can scan the QR code to pay for our meal. The checkout had an automatic 20% gratuity. I honestly feel like there was hardly any service to be given a tip. Another reviewer mentioned there was a service fee added to be split among the kitchen staff, there was no mention of this on the menu, by the waitress, no sign that I've seen, or even on the online ordering menu. I didn't even notice. With all the taxes, service fee and the societal normal 20% tip. A $50 meal would cost the consumer $70. Absolutely ridiculous. 2/5 on the food: Food was ok but overpriced. $16 for 3 tacos and the toppings is on a single corn tortilla that tore in half on the 2nd bite. Overall I think the change where it's more towards a self-service establishment by the owners was a terrible move. It may be cost effective for them but takes away from North County being considered a restaurant. 0/5 stars overall because the value for what the average consumer pays here is not worth it. read more

Was in the area for a tournament and found this plAce on Yelp and decided to check it out. How I have never driven through the Lowry area is a mystery. What a great location for this place. When we walked in it was a little awkward. Their entryway is small and there were people just standing there chatting. There wasn't a hostess or even a sign asking you to wait or seat yourself. When we finally got a table, our waitress brought us water instantly and asked what we would like to drink. We didn't even get a chance to review the menu first. By this time business picked up. It wasn't super busy but filling up. As a result, our waitress didn't come back to get our drink order for a long time. We ended up ordering our drinks and food together. I honestly have never waited so long for a drink to come. It practically came with our food. Let me start by saying North County is a great restaurant! It's tucked away in Lowry and has quickly became one of our go to spots worth the 35 minute drive. The ambiance is all about the beach, they have beach wallpaper, and surfboards all over and it transports you to the beach in California. The service is always great, they have been extremely busy each time we have visited and they still sat us immediately. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, especially on this visit we sat on the patio and it started to rain and we didn't have any cover over us and we had our 8 month old son. They cleaned the table next to us that was under an umbrella and let us sit there so our son wouldn't get wet. The food has been delicious every time we have gone and each time we have tried something different. We started off with the queso fundido which is our favorite appetizer when we come, we love that you get homemade chips and tortillas to eat with it. This visit I went with the California burrito, let me say this thing was massive! The flavor was great and the carné asada inside was cooked perfectly. The green chili wasn't spicy at all which I was bummed about because I love heat but it still had good flavor. I also ordered the piña picante house soda which was delicious and had a nice little kick of alcohol that you couldn't taste but could definitely feel towards the end of the meal. My wife ordered the fish and chips, any time she sees fish and chips on the menu she has to try them they are one of her favorite things to order. She liked them and said they were cooked perfectly, her only complaint was they were a little small for the fish but were very generous with the fries. The fries we delicious and were extra crispy but soft on the inside with great seasoning. My wife also ordered the cantarito which is her favorite drink at this restaurant, definitely a must try! They're fresh chips we're perfectly crispy and not greasy. The grapefruit margarita was magical! Fresh squeezed grapefruit and lime juices with a tajin rim. No sweet and sour or triple sec to make it too sweet and give you heartburn later. I highly suggest you give it a try. Now on to the food... we went with tacos and they did not disappoint. The Al Pastor, which is their house taco, has the perfect marriage of shredded pork and pineapple. It was the stand out! The charcoal grilled shrimp and fried shrimp were good as well.
