I've never had a bad experience here, ever! My daughter and I come in when we're craving tacos, margs and a couple tequila shots. My favorite thing to do is order a margarita, a good reposado and the mussels to start. The sangrita to back the shot is perfect - I will say though it's not always consistent. Lately the flavors haven't been as balanced. The staff is always wonderful and attentive - even when the place is packed to the seams! Which is almost any evening. My only regret is I can't get here as often as I'd like - part of it is I have expensive taste in tequila - and I frequently stop in when celebrating something - but the tab is hefty enough that this is not a casual drop in place for me. If you're from out of town don't bother going here. They have some company policy that if your license is "vertical" as they are in some states (never mind your actual age) they won't serve you. This place is racist. I called ahead ordered my food. The food is amazing but the service wasn't today. I was told to pick up my food in five minutes at the bar. Got there waited 10 minutes while the bartender and servers just literally looked at me and never asked if I needed help or anything. Saw my food just sitting for about eight minutes It wasn't even busy then I finally had to force the bartender to acknowledge my presence and directed her to my order that had been sitting being ignored just like me. No apologies for the blatant fact that nobody wanted to assist me. Having spent the better part of decade living in North County SD,we are super excited for this to be in our our be in our neighborhood. There were some hits, but few misses as well. First off,The charcoal grilled oysters are amazing. I will dream about those oysters. The adult bottled sodas are a super fun twist and everyone at our table who got one really enjoyed it. The ceviche it was pretty good, The queso was yummy too. I also personally really enjoyed the chorizo and potato taco. There were no complaints about those items! A few people in the party got burgers, the rock lobster taco was hit. Then there was the Baja Fish taco. I was so bummed about this! Flour tortilla? Swai? Mango salsa? Don't get me wrong, it was tasty but I dream of the traditional fish tacos from Bull Taco or The Brig. I ate it, it was tasty but I would really love to see them do a tribute to this SD staple that people who know the region well would recognize and love. The last gripe about this experience is some of the pricing. The food menu is incredibly reasonable, The mixed drink menu totally on point for the quality. The beer menu is highway robbery. They're charging $10 dollars for a Green Flash IPA. The only place I expect to pay $10 for a beer is a live sporting event or some super obscure rare brew. Green Flash IPA? Not so much. My husband, daughter and I live in Lowry and have been to North County twice now. We had great experiences each time. I love this place! The service has been absolutely stellar, especially considering we brought our 1 1/2 year-old daughter with us. The wait staff was friendly, offered helpful suggestions and explanations of the menu, and was also very attentive. The food arrived very quickly after ordering - also key if you're dining with a toddler. Five stars for service alone. The atmosphere is also vibrant and fun, and the restaurant (and restrooms!) are very clean. Most importantly, the food was very good. The only reason I give this restaurant four stars instead of five is that the meat in two of the tacos (the brisket and chicken tinge) we tried on our first visit was a little dried out. However, on the second visit, all of the food was perfect. I love their fish tacos. We've tried the salmon, hamachi, mahi mahi and another which I can't recall the name of the fish (some sort of white fish). All were outstanding, and the sauces included on the tacos were perfect. (Some of the sauces are quite spicy, so if you're not a fan of spice, be sure to ask how spicy a given taco is. My husband is very sensitive to spice, so they substituted a few milder sauces on some of his tacos). I've also tried the al pastor taco which is also delicious. Also, although they don't yet have an official kids' menu, they always make a delicious little quesadilla for our daughter. We usually order black beans and rice to share with her as well. The kid's meal also comes with a little scoop of cinnamon vanilla ice cream for dessert. Yum! Before moving to Denver in July, I lived in Texas for the last 15 years. I know my tacos and tend to be a little snobby about anything in the Mexican food category. This place has some damn fine offerings, and I look forward to returning soon! read more

We've been here a handful of times now since opening. Both for dinner and brunch. The service is hit or miss and depending on which manager is working that day the music selection can be AWFUL. (Sia Breath Me was playing during brunch today....uh depressing much?). Tuesday is "Taco Tuesday" and all tacos are $1 off. Da Baby El Pastor house taco & their house fish taco are my favorites. I don't understand upscale restaurants that do not take reservations. On June 11th, I e-mailed the North County at the e-address on their website to make a reservation for a large party (15 adults) on July 21st; however, to date I have received no response. Called (from California) on 7/2 and was told by staff that they do not take phone reservations and that I must use the Nowait app to make one. Downloaded the app and could not find them listed. Reached out to Nowait and was told they were not registered as users. Called the restaurant 7/3 and explained to management that in three weeks my family is having a reunion (first time in 15 years) and had people coming from Maryland, Michigan, Wisconsin, California, and outer regions of Colorado. Based on the high reviews and proximity to our hotels, North County was the one restaurant we all agreed would be perfect to share our last night together. Although the manager was pleasant, she offered two possibilities - 1) try arriving at their down times (10:30am or 3:00pm) or 2) arriving at 4:00 pm and hope we could be seated by 6:00pm. (I refuse to put my elderly mother through a 2 hour wait.) The place and menu look wonderful. Pity we won't be able see for ourselves what the grand reviews are about. read more

Killed it. Service, food, middle-of-a-work-day atmosphere; shit was on point. I'm a fat kid at heart, so I order ceviche, peel-and-eat shrimp, a short-rib mole taco and a genuine SoCal fish taco. I'm gonna pop if I eat all this food, but the shrimp came out first and was amazing so I have to save half for later. The ceviche was a little too sweet, but some folks like it that way. But wait the fuck up... Then I got my mole taco... I wanted to kiss my unborn child's head with it, it was so good. North County has a great selection of tacos and tequila, and for bonus points they make their own jalapeño pickles. YUM. It's a small place, so either come prepared to wait or get their early. We went on a weeknight around 7 and waited close to an hour (even though they said it would be shorter) but by the time the food hit the table I didn't care - I was sold. Our waitress was awesome, very attentive even with all the tables she had and the manager stopped by to check on us more than once and introduce himself. As other reviews mention, the nachos are huge - my boyfriend ordered them and it was a perfect size for his appetite.
