I purchased a new 2017 Hyundai Tucson (April 2017) for my Mom and got a relatively good price. No haggling, due to discounts, offers, etc. Overall I was pleased with the cost. In addition, I purchased the extended 100K as well - price was a bit high - but considering the good base price the additional warranty was a no-brainer. Hyundai's design,, fit and reputation to quality essentially sells itself (see Consumer Reports, JD, KBB etc) - and most important it was the car my mom wanted. My Purchasing Experience: 3 of 5 stars: Sales person was Lackadaisical and kept picking his nose. 4 of 5 stars: Finance and Closing was typical, finance was OK - I was treated professionally My mother's service maintainence experience: 1 of 5 stars: My mother's initial service experience was awful. She was promised a 30-40 min wait. The 30-40 min promised turned out to be 90 min. 90-min for the initial 3000 mile oil change? Unacceptable! Now comes my dissatisfaction - and North Freeway Hyundai's questionable business practice: The following day after the oil change I received a request for survey email from an independent survey service used by Hyundai. With my mother next to me, we filled out the short survey and spent time answering some the extend write-up and comments section - detailing how dissatisfied she was with her oil change experience. We gave the survey a 1 of 5 star rating. Within two hours after submitting the survey, I received an email from the Service advisor. The email states... "I do apologize for the wait time, we do have more busier times than others. We strive to get every customer out of here in a timely manner. if you would please rescore this to 5 stars and give us another chance I will give you the next oil change on me. Please let me know. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience." My comment to this email: First and foremost, 'thanks' to the service advisor for taking time to actually ready the survey, as well as formally apologizing for the bad experience. However, here are my concerns: 1. My mother made an appointment a week prior for an oil change. To avoid peak-hour congestion, the appointment was for a Thursday morning 10AM, not a late afternoon or weekend. 2. The service attendant reluctantly provided her with an update after the 45-min wait. After 45 min. my mom inquired as to the status; The service attendant informed her it was due to paper-work and 'were working on it'. 3. Bargaining? The service advisor indicated that 'if' I change my survey to 5-stars (see quote above), he would give me my next oil change for free. If that is so, then what's the purpose of the survey?! The purpose for an independent survey is for internal appraisal of the company's performance. If this is common practice; to bargain a 5-star rating for a 1-star service, in order to get a free oil change - then how can this dealership adequately change it's behavior to a customer focused service? This practice borders on basic business ethics, something this dealership is drastically missing. Noteworthy comment: This is the first Hyundai I've purchased, and I 'may' purchased another one in the future. However, I do question the practice of this particular dealership - especially the lack of consideration to it's customers, specifically my mom. I also own a Toyota, purchased next door at Fred Haas. Service at Fred Haas, you ask? Fred Haas has impeccable service compared to North Freeway Hyundai - and they are truly customer focused! Another thought: The automobile service industry is quite difficult profession, as most professions - if North Freeway Hyundai continues this trend, it will in-the-long-run loose potential customers to other car makers - or other dealers. From from the desk of LMI's Executive Director: Ronnie E. Alexander I purchased 2012 EQUSS on March 7, 2012 with 108,216 miles. The cars suspension started going bad as of last week. I brought the car back on March 20, 2020 to have a mirror replaced and to discuss the suspension problem. Its been over a week and today they after a 45 minute drive I was told they had the wrong mirror...even though I spoke with the service person (Brandon) and he assured me everything was in order and he even scheduled an appointment for them to replace the mirror. While I was there I showed Brandon the suspension and I was referred to the sales manager. Talk to the sales manager and he showed no concern...the sales manager gave me a look like, so what do you want me to do about it. I stated my concern and that I've only driven this vehicle 590 miles (to work and home) since I purchased it and the suspension should not be acting up already. I could see if I had the vehicle for some months but I had had it roughly for about two weeks. Again, he showed no concern and restated the "As Is" Policy. I understand the "AS IS" part and I admit I did sign the document but the vehicle seemed fine at the time of purchase. My concern is the dealerships attitude after the sale. No one should treat customers that way. I understand why they have good reviews...it is because most of them come from people who purchased new cars or cars under warranty (My Fault for not doing so) However a business should be able to work with or attempt to try help out a customer (its called maintaining repeat business and developing customer loyalty). Whether the vehicle I purchased or you purchase....this dealer should be willing to work with their customer(s). Remember I only drove the vehicle 590 miles and that includes the day I brought it back to the dealer. I'm not asking for a handout....I just wanted them to work with me in some sort of fashion and maybe would have come to an agreement financially on repairing the car. I could see if I had driven the car in a manner that would cause this damage but i did not. I am writing this post for someone to learn from my situation and mistake (purchasing a used vehicle from this dealership). They treat you like DIGNITARY when you come and purchase any vehicle but they treat like a common PEASANT after the sale. This post is is being provided to help you. If this dealer would have worked with me I would have no reason to write this post. I will inform my clients of this dealer and advise each person I come in contact with or request any information about reputable dealers to purchase cars from to avoid this dealership. The treatment I had at the North Freeway Hyundai (13915 North Freeway, Houston). The one bright spot of my visit to the dealership was sales person Charles Dillahunty, he was great. Charles took my wife and I out to test drive the Genesis Coupe and trying to educate us on not only on the great features of the automobile but the dealers pricing of the vehicle. I must admit, I was very impressed by the styling and looks of the car, I got my first view of the car on Motor Week but after that I haven't seen many and I had no idea of pricing. After the test drive Charles brought us in to the dealership to discuss pricing, he wrote down what offer he could make to us and asked was it ok, I gave him a number which that was under MSRP, he said he would do what he could. Charles then took my offer to Chris (Thomas) he mentioned was his night sales manager), he arrived back at the table with a price that 2 thousand more than my offer. After I informed Charles that price wasn't what I wanted to pay, Charles tried to work the deal , even tried to sell us a comparable Genesis Coupe with less options closer to our budget. I told him we wanted what we test drove (why get me hooked in with the options then want to take them away because you don't want to meet my price) So after what I say was a half hour spent I finally told Charles that this would be a impulse buy, and I really need to do more research to know more about the car so I can know if I'm being unrealistic about pricing. So he asked me to meet the Sales manager (This is where Charles drops the ball with me). So he took me over to meet him, so the manger said "What's going on?" Charles told him we could not agree on what I wanted to pay. "So it's no deal then" says Chris looking at me. Chris says to me "Invoice?" which I got to mean by his inflection (I'm giving you it at Invoice, you want me to do better? - the price was MSRP, not invoice). "So its price?" Chris replies to me, I said yes. Chris turns to Charles and says "see, it's no deal, I got in 5 minutes what It took you a hour to find out." I know that you can't hear the tone that he took with me through these letters I typed but I could not believe that he said all this in front of me. After he said that, I just walked away and got my wife and started to leave the dealership. Charles ran back I guess to get some paperwork or something, but before we could leave the dealership lot, he caught us and in so many words apologized for what had happened and told us that Chris is just blunt like that. I told him that it wasn't much his fault (after thinking about it, it was!), I felt less than human the way that Sales managers spoke at me, I don't know how he deals with other customers that decide not to buy that day, if it's the same way, I'm sure they would be feeling like me and would not visit that dealership ever again. read more

WARNING: HUMBLE HYUNDAI, NORTH FREEWAY HYUNDAI AND BAYTOWN HYUNDAI ALL HAVE F RATINGS IN BBB. WARNING FROM BBB: CURRENT ALERTS FOR THIS BUSINESS Pattern of Complaint: Since July 2022, the BBB of Greater Houston & South Texas has received several complaints and customer reviews on Humble Hyundai that exhibit the following patterns. According to the consumer's disputes, it is being alleged that Humble Hyundai will negotiate pricing but once the consumer arrives at the dealership the price is higher than agreed upon. Also, per consumer's disputes, it is being alleged that the dealership is including add-ons during the financing phase without prior knowledge. Some consumers are reporting that they are unsuccessful in reaching the finance department to cancel warranties. Per one consumer's complaint, they were told it is a requirement to have the extra warranty ($1897) in order to purchase the car. When they checked the paperwork, the add-ons were voluntary and not mandatory. They feel the company is utilizing deceptive practices to force consumers to buy extras. Do not buy or deal with these dealerships before reading the reviews on the BBB and on-line. Be forewarned that several customers report that they are manipulated in giving the dealerships a high rating in exchange for a free service. If the reviewer does not across the board give high marks, the offer for the free service is reneged. So be wary of any high marks. The three dealerships are owned by Paul Peebles. The General Manager at Humble Hyundai is John Kay and the Fixed Ops Director at the three dealerships is Tim Shipe. Rather than honor my safety recall appointment of three weeks, I was told that I needed to return because the part was not available and that customers need to come in first to have their VIN number and odometer photographed before the recall part can be ordered. Total BS. They then give you a 21-point inspection list of REQUIRED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION items: brake flush 169.95; fuel injection cleaning service 179.95; engine coolant 159.95; transmission fluid change 331.37; and most incredibly, an alignment of 119.95 for tire damage and abnormal wear [for 4 one-month old tires with alignment done at time of purchase]. $1,040.64 worth of unnecessary repairs. I was then put on a DO NOT SERVICE list because I became upset when I was lied to and made to waste my time and work. We purchased a Tucson SUV from North Freeway Hyundai. I love the car and was pleased with my sales and service (recall repair) experiences at the dealership. My salesperson was Chris Westfall, a real nice guy who did not try to push me into more car than I needed. I initially thought I wanted the Tucson sport model, but the color was not right because I wanted a black interior. Chris found me the perfect car with the right color and leather seats, navigation and a few more extras instead of the turbo engine and larger wheels that come with the sport model, for the same price. What I really like about this dealership is that there are three sister stores altogether and they can get you a car from the other dealerships the same day with no extra charge. Other dealers sometimes won't transfer a car that they think they can sell easily, and those that are out of the Houston area charge a transportation fee for the transfer. Another great feature is that the North Freeway location has lots of auto dealerships lined up on both sides of the freeway, so comparison shopping is really easy. I was considering Toyota as well as Hyundai SUVs, and the Toyota dealer is literally next door. Finally, I think the Hyundai dealership salespeople are much more professional and better informed than the ones I encountered while shopping the competition. The service department also seems better informed than what I experienced at Toyota. For example, the North Freeway Hyundai service department told me that Houston driving is considered "severe" driving conditions due to heat, humidity, stop and go urban traffic, and frequent short trips, so you need to go by the shorter interval between oil changes, 5,000 miles or every five months. That is at least twice a year instead of once, and Toyota service departments never mentioned this to me in twenty years. Toyota actually refused to do the more frequent oil changes on our leased Camry! I am happy with my Tucson and feel that I got a lot more for my money than I would have with Toyota. When I purchased my vehicle, North Freeway Hyundai was one of the few TrueCar certified dealers I could choose from, and I used that program for my purchase. read more

My wife and I have been w/ North Fwy Hyundai since 2007--the reasons are many, and can be detailed as follows: Your Management Team is great, (Doug Chappell and Danyelle Khaled) and it is truly classic, (professionalism, expertise, and customer service values), how management goes, so goes the rest of the team. They helped make our new vehicle purchasing experience very enjoyable and rewarding. Lee Love in the Finance Dept. is very customer service oriented, and also helped make that segment of the transaction an experience, that exceeded our expectations. Your have a Sales Dept., that is very professional--their word is gold. Dan Khalid worked w/ us hand and foot--he has excellent customer service skills, and very product knowledgeable, that goes hand-in-hand w/ a very large new vehicle inventory to select from. Dan made It a very enjoyable experience. Your Maintenance Dept. is a team that is next to none--high level of expertise, professionalism, knowledgeable, and provide top level customer service skills. All of our experiences w/ the service advisors have been very rewarding and pleasant. The service advisors' quotes, regarding service to be provided are always right on, (no surprises). We have been exclusively utilizing North Fwy. Hyundai Service Dept. from day one, for regularly scheduled maintenance and otherwise. I must add, that waiting for our vehicle, has been truly painless and rewarding--the new customer waiting area is always pristine , comfortable, and enjoyable, due to all the great amenities provided, (coffee, bottled water, TV, etc., etc.). We did not have a good experience at this dealership. Please note that the prices advertised on their website are ONLY available IF you go with Hyundai financing, and if you do, you get a $1,000 rebate. The Hyundai financing is a terrible agreement (high % with balloon payment), so you'll have to transfer the loan soon after (a hassle). Furthermore, their fees are HIGH. Others have noted this. They will throw in a $299 consumer advertising fee (that other dealerships in town do NOT charge); a $51.70 inventory fee (again, not charged by other dealerships in town); and a $200 document fee (that is fairly standard, but usually the only fee you see). They do not explain this upfront. You will find out in the financing office. You may not be able to negotiate out of these. Furthermore, in our case, they added a $1,495 extended warranty without discussing it with us, and we did not see it until we were in the financing office. When we cancelled several days later, they "lost" our cancellation. They will also pester you about getting a "10" on the follow-up survey, including using pretty heavy guilt ploys. They do not, however, actually give a 10 in service. Please be wary of this dealership: 1) Avoid financing with them unless absolutely necessary; 2) be sure to read everything; 3) be sure to discuss FEES and EXTENDED WARRANTIES upfront. Compare apples to apples! You may get as good as or a better deal somewhere else when you account for the fees and the hassle of transferring the loan! read more

Recently bought a Tucson at this location, Kerry was the salesman that I went through and he was a good guy, I'd definitely recommend him. The test drive was hands-off, let me take the car out on our own. The sale was a little high-pressure but I never felt like my hand was being forced. I hadn't intended to buy the car that day but it was a pretty good deal on a car that I really liked so I went for it. After I bought the Tucson one of the tires kept losing air almost immediately after buying. 4 days after buying I got a warning that the tire pressure was low. I had to go back to the dealership to get my 2nd key anyway, so I had them refill the tire. Another 4 or 5 days later and the same tire is low on air again so I went back and they found a nail in the tire. Even worse, it was too close to the sidewall that it couldn't just be patched. They told me that I would need to replace the tire. I was upset by this. At this point I've had the car less than 2 weeks and the nail has been in the tire since at least the 3rd or 4th day of owning the car. I suspect it was there when I bought it, though I have no way to prove it. Fortunately, after talking to Kerry they decided to cover the replacement of the tire even though it wasn't covered under my warranty and they had no real requirement to do so. Real upstanding dealership. Also, they have one of those fancy soda-fountains in their waiting area, so that was pretty sweet. read more

Randall (Randy) Todd made our car buying experience as good as I have ever experienced. I have purchased over ten brand new cars for myself or family and this by far was the best. Here's why: - Randy was friendly and transparent about what he could offer - Where all the other dealers sales people just wanted me at their dealership to use my time, Randy did too but he gave me solid information about the deal I could receive over the phone if I arrived to him. - We went to other dealers first around our house because NFH was 45 minutes from us. This was a learning experience as the sales people were rude and even though we came through their door they just wanted to sell us a lease and when we insisted no they took way too long to wait for the back and forth between their manager and us. WASTE OF TIME. - I told my family the only salesperson I really trusted over the phone was Randy Todd, so let's make the drive. We arrived and he treated us like family. We made the best deal and my son loves his Elantra! So do we. Randy, I have told you all this over the phone, but thank you sir, thank you so much for the excellent service and transparency. I went to buy a used vehicle to try to save some money but after I met the salesman Joseph Perri, you showed me a lot of different cars both used and new he also introduced me to the manager who was a very nice guy and promised me he would make me a good deal. Joseph let me drive four or five different vehicles to make sure I got the one that I wanted. This experience was awesome between Joseph and the manager they made me a deal on a brand new Hyundai Santa Fe Sport then I could not pass up I got it for less than what some of the used vehicles were going for. Everything about this experience was great from the time I walked in the door till the time I signed the papers and drove off with my vehicle. I have owned a hyundai for the last 3 or 4 years they are great vehicles and they have the best warranty in the business I have also used the service department. Every one of the people in the service department has always been nice and courteous and helped me out quickly the work was done quickly and to my extreme satisfaction I love owning a Hyundai. My husband and I were in a situation of having to purchase a vehicle. I was in no means wanting or ready to purchase a car. When we arrived at the dealership I was very frustrated and aggravated about having to be there. We took a look around at the used vehicles before we went inside but didn't see anything in our price range and we didn't think we could afford a new vehicle. When we went inside we were greeted by several sales people and then introduced to Donny Lee. He was very professional and polite despite my attitude. If it had not been for his great personality and ability to joke around with us (nothing unprofessional at all) we might have had a completely different experience. Both Donny and Howard, financing department, worked very hard to get us into a new vehicle and we very much appreciate it. They did not make us feel rushed even though we kept them there past closing time. Also, the General Manager gave us the final deal we needed to be able to purchase the vehicle - he was able to get our monthly payments where we needed them to be. I was actually browsing the website for this location looking for a used car. When I entered my phone number online, Jason Yarbour called me not even 5 minutes later, even though it was about an hour after the dealership had closed for the night! I went in the next day and he really did a lot to help me find the best car for my needs. The rest of the staff was great too, someone actually climbed on a chair to detach one of the balloons for my 2 year old son and that made his day! I would also like to say that my credit is not what most would consider "great" or even "good" at best, and I had a very small down payment that day. I had expected to go in and be told I needed to come back with more money, but instead they did all they could to get me in the car i wanted with the monthly payment i wanted. THE BEST PART was AFTER i had left the dealership with the car, Jason called me to come back because another bank had made an offer that would decrease the payment I signed for by $40. Car dealerships JUST DON'T DO THAT BUT THIS ONE DID! I've got to say I will return to them for ALL of my future purchases and I would recommend them to ALL of my family and friends! read more

We probably all hate the car buying experience, because of the endless games and tricks that car salesmen tend to play. While researching Wiesner (who had the highest prices in the area) warned me that North Freeway would slip in $3000 of "dealer addendums" after you agree to their (lower) price. Well, the opposite is true, at least with Kerry Smith. After exchanging a few emails ensuring that they were at least close to my target price and trade-in value, I went there and was pleasantly surprised by the entire process. After a short inspection of my trade, they offered me the exact KBB value without haggling. For the new car he quoted their already lower "internet" price, but when I showed him an ad from a dealer a bit further away that beat that price by a good amount, he agreed to match that with further haggling. No sneaky upsell or slip-in of overpriced dealer options. A bit of a downer was the finance guy who tried to aggressively upsell all kinds of warranty and service contracts, but all in all this was an A+ buying experience. Hats off to Kerry. read more

I was out looking for a new car on Saturday, i actually did the whole 45 shot stopped and looked at numerous cars. North Freeway Hyundai was my last stop on the left. I didn't really know to much about Hyundai, but I stopped in anyway to see what kind of line up they had to offer. My salesman Randy Todd met me in the parking lot and very kindly asked me if i needed any help. I told him no at first I just wanted to look around. So he said well if there is anything you need at all I will be around someplace just ask someone for Randy. I started looking around and was surprised at how many different cars that Hyundai makes. So being as stubborn as I am I asked someone for Randy. He came back and was very helpful and if he didn't know the answer to a question he wrote it down and made sure everything was answered once we went back inside. So after a full day of car shopping in the heat I am now the proud owner of a 2013 Genesis Coupe. Never put half down on a used vehicle!!!!!! $12,500 on a $30,000.00 dollar truck Just fyi... Bought a used truck with low miles from what I thought was a reputable dealership expecting to be receiving a reliable vehicle. Instead I ended up purchasing a truck that turned out to be a lemon. I drove the truck 5,000 miles and the turbos went out, AC doesn't work, ball joints on driver side went out. Spoke to the salesman Pat and a "Manager" by the name of Tony to try to resolve the issue. Tony tells me it was my fault for buying the truck and he will give me $500 to the repairs of $3,600.00. I have not been able to drive the truck for 5 weeks and have a rental bill of over $1,500. Damn near 4 months of truck payments. I have asked for a reasonable resolution of half of the repair cost. Tony is willing to pay for the tow bill and repair of the AC!!! The AC has nothing to do with the drive ability of the vehicle. Tony also tells me I deserve nothing. Great customer service Tony!!! read more

I was very impressed with the dealership. Starting with Ismael Herrera he was the BOMB! He was available on the phone from the start. We had lots of questions and concerns and he was always very attentive and prompt with our needs. He is the man to go with. He dedicates himself to your likes and dislikes and addresses it all. No hidden agendas or surprises. I also would like to thank Mr Chris Thomas for handling my situation in a very professional way. He was very polite and professional. He definitely addressed my needs and made sure that I was a happy customer! I really enjoyed the building! It provides drinks such as coke products , coffee and water. They even had a private waiting lounge that made me feel like VIP! I am definitely going back especially because they have great maintenance packages included with your buy! This was by far our best car shopping experience. Dave Harvey truly was the professor of cars and we were the students absorbing all he could throw our way. Whatever you may have experienced in the past with pushy, uncomfortable car sales representatives, throw that out the window if you can get an appointment with Dave. He was professional, knowledgeable and everything but a quick talking sale person. My wife is the ultimate critic and when we left our appointment all she said was "although we may not buy a car this week, we will buy our next car from Dave." In addition to outstanding service, the price Dave offered was very attractive and beat the other deals were had been quoted. The location and facility were not tricked out like some of their competitors but the service and value offered were excellent. I'll write the same review I wrote for the Hyundai store in Humble because these two dealers work together, and their professional and helpful staff were equally as good, which means they're way above the rest of the car dealers I've ever visited in the Houston area. I haven't bought a car from them, so it's hard for me to justify the 5-star rating, except that compared to all the other Houston car dealers, they're incredibly better in service and quality. So, in comparison, they earn all 5. The people I talked to were incredibly friendly and accommodating. I never felt pushed around like the stereotypical "car-salesman" types tend to do (and they're all over Houston). They knew a lot about their business and truly conformed their offerings to my personality and needs. That shows intuitive intelligence that is rare in this area. If I end up getting a new car, it will come from here. read more

My sales rep was John (JD) Michon, and he did an outstanding job in finding and assisting me in purchasing a new Genesis G70. John was extremely diligent in communicating with me throughout the process and keeping me informed of the latest developments necessary to identify and obtain my preferred car. He was always available to answer questions and was extremely responsive with all requests. Once the car arrived at the dealership, JD texted me pictures, ensured the windows were tinted, and then when I went to the dealership, he spent about two hours showing me the functionality of the new car, explaining the maintenance requirements, getting me hooked up with the various Genesis apps, and meeting the service department manager.
