Ambiance was great with beautiful aesthetics. Prices are a bit higher than expected but portions are definitely big enough to share! Only thing I had a slight problem with was that everything came out at the same time both the appetizers and main course so our table was packed and it was a little overwhelming. But I'm sure that's something that'd get better with time. Would definitely love to come back again! My family and I came here yesterday to celebrate some birthday. We were celebrating my nephew and wife birthday so I made reservations off OpenTable. The process was simple and they called me the day of to confirm the reservation, they also allowed me to add an additional guest because online reservations is for at max 6 people. Finding parking here was difficult because the plaza was busy so I had to park further down near Whole Foods. We got seated quick at a booth since we had a party of 7 people. Tiffany was our waitress and she was awesome. We started out with the A Tre Della Casa which is housemade chips. My brother in law also ordered the Caesar salad to start things out. For our entree, my nephew got the Bolognese pasta, my sister got the agnolotti pasta, my wife just wanted the spicy calamari and I got the waygu burger with regular fries (truffle fries is an option). I also got a coke, be aware that right now coke refill is free but later on it might not be. I asked before getting a refill and Tiffany said they are still trying to determine what to do since they don't have a soda machine. The homemade chips were good and other people at the table like the Caesar salad. The Caesar Salad like big Roman lettuce with the seasoning on top. My daughter was getting fuzzy so I walked her around the restaurant and outside while everyone food was coming out. My burger did not come out at the same time as everyone else. My burger came out after everyone was about to finish their food and Tiffany apologized for the delay. Since my food came out later than everyone ele and late, she got the restaurant to cover it which I appreciate. Everybody like their dish and we finish off the dinner with some dessert. The birthday people got the Gianduia and my niece got the soft serve lemon swirl. The bathroom here my sister told me it's has the Japanese toilet where it has a bidet and closes itself but I didn't use it. The restaurant had a personalize thank you card for the birthday people which I thought was a nice touch. This place could almost be a home run. The staff is outstanding. Our waitress was spot on with her recommendations. The food is delicious, though I think a few dishes are not worth the cost. I tried the truffle butter, vodka penne, and calamari. The truffle butter was good, but you only get four small pieces of bread. The price is because they had actual shredded truffle. The vodka pasta was great. It has a nice creamy tomato sauce with a peppery after taste. It reminds me of the cajun shrimp penne from Chili's. My favorite dish was the calamari. The breading was excellent and I love the added peppers. It reminded me of laziji, a sort of spicy Chinese popcorn chicken. The primary disappointment is the ambiance. The ceiling is very industrial, which makes the room echo. Additionally, there are hanging sheets of what look like ceiling in between the lighting. First time at Salina was truly an elevated dining experience! Came for a date night with my boyfriend and we had a great time. It was unique to any other local Italian restaurants and the aesthetic of the interior was so nice. Luis was super kind and treated us like VIPs, he gave us a rundown of the menu plus his recommendations that we appreciated. The spicy calamari was delicious, tasty and spicy, the homemade ranch it comes with was phenomenal! I tried out the Agnolotti pasta it was sweet & savory pockets that were beyond delicious!!! I enjoyed every bite, it was so comforting. The side of Brussels should not be slept on... they were one of my favorite things I tried. A manager even came to check on us during our dinner to make sure everything was good which we appreciated. Shoutout to Alexa for great vibes as well. Dined here recently with my family including 2 kids. I always appreciate whenever restaurants have a kids menu. My kids chose the spaghetti and cheese pizza and enjoyed both. Good portion sizes for the kids as well. We tried: Spicy calamari Meatballs Vodka pizza Agnolotti Fries Soft serve for dessert We did enjoy the food (except the meatballs which were cold and didn't feel meaty enough) and the service was good. However, the kitchen could work on pacing and timing, as it took a while for our food to come out and then it all came out at the same time (appetizers, mains, and kids' meals). The Bottom Line 5 stars: Dining at SALINA is a treat. Wonderful vibe, service, food and drinks. My only concern is that the prices are on the high side. But still, highly recommended! Location 4 stars: In the Vineyards in Porter Ranch. Parking is free on the premises but always a hassle on weekends and nights. There are many nice restaurants and shops here but not enough parking. No Valet either. Be prepared for a walk! Venue 5 stars: New, nicely decorated upscale facility with indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar. They take reservations on Open Table which I would recommend as they get very busy. Service 5 stars: Very well trained, personable and professional. The manager Les made the rounds regularly. He was very friendly and helpful. Food 5 stars: Delicious and well plated, but expensive! They still get 5 stars for food in my book! We had the Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza, the Carbonara, the Eggplant Parm and the Burger. All were excellent! The Caesar salad was the star of the show for me! The lettuce wedges were fresh and slightly crunchy with cheese, crouton crumbs, and Caesar dressing! I appreciate that each lettuce wedge was individually prepped so that you can taste all the ingredients in every bite! The best I've had!! The vodka pasta was also good. After checking in with the host, we waited a couple of minutes for our table to be ready. Salina opened on April 1. Our Friday date night had an Italian and Mediterranean affair. The food we ordered, did not disappoint. We sat at the bar to eat our meal given that it was a two hour wait. I encourage the team to continue to let this happen organically. The bar service was on point and folks we spoke to at the bar, were happy with their choices and we were too. If you're not careful, it can be an expensive meal with drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert. Everything was soooooo good and I recommend that the kitchen have "runners" or create a team environment so "hands" are ready to deliver orders so pasta and other items don't come out lukewarm. After hearing so much about Salina, I was excited to finally give it a try, but unfortunately, I left feeling like it's a bit overhyped. The service was polite, but when I asked for recommendations, our server basically listed every item on the menu, which wasn't very helpful and felt a little odd. We ordered the vodka pasta, and while it was good, it definitely didn't feel like a $30 dish. The carbonara was rich to the point of being heavy and greasy, and again, I didn't think it justified the price. My kids had the spaghetti with tomato sauce, but the sauce was noticeably sour, and neither of them wanted to finish it. The restaurant has a fun atmosphere with a lively bar scene, and I can definitely see why people enjoy coming for drinks and the overall vibe. If you haven't been to Salina in Porter Ranch yet...Gooooo!!! This is hands down the newest hot spot in town, and I'm already planning my next visit maybe even tomorrow :). I stopped by tonight 4.2.26 (their second day open!) and was completely blown away. I was short on time, but even a quick visit turned into such a memorable experience. We were seated on the patio, which is nicely covered with heaters which is perfect for those chilly, windy evenings. I highly recommend bringing a jacket just in case. Inside, the restaurant is spacious with super comfortable seating and plenty of room for larger groups. I can already see this place becoming the go-to for birthdays, girls' nights, family dinners and fun celebrations. The bar is absolutely stunning!!! While seating is at the bar is a bit limited, it's beautifully designed with cozy booths along the side. Huge shot out to Christopher and Dominic the bartenders. They were incredible!!! Sooo friendly, great energy, and they made one of the best lemon drops I've ever had. They have a variety of menu items, veg and non veg. Pastas, pizza, branzino, hummus, meatballs, bruschetta, sirloin steak. Sooooo much. I wish I could have tried more...But let's talk about the food that we ordered tonight...I ordered the vodka pasta and the spaghetti and meatballs. The vodka pasta was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, not too al dente, just right. It even had a slight crispiness from breadcrumbs, which I loved. If you're a burrata fan, I highly recommend adding it, it melts beautifully into the pasta and takes it to another level. However, a side of burrata is a little on the pricier side $12 for one. The spaghetti and meatballs were solid. But the real STAR of the night.... The affogato!!!! The soft serve was unbelievably creamy, honestly one of the best I've ever had. Paired with espresso, it was pure heaven! I am already craving it again. But let's talk..Service... Impeccable. I know they just opened, but the attention to detail was impressive. Our server, Gaby, was an absolute Gem she was so warm, personable, and attentive. Jazell and the rest of the staff were constantly checking in and keeping everything flowing seamlessly. In addition, the General Manager even came to our table to check in on us which was so nice. I also heard they plan to keep the bar open after hours once the restaurant closes, which is such a fun bonus. Overall, we had aaaahhhmazing experience from start to finish. My brother and I celebrated our birthdays at Salina with a party of six, and unfortunately it was one of the worst service experiences I've had at a restaurant. From the beginning, we felt rushed. Multiple order modifications were ignored, plates and items were removed before people had finished eating, and our waitress repeatedly interrupted conversations at the table. It became so disruptive that my brother eventually felt compelled to speak with the manager about how poor the service had been. Ironically, there was a new server shadowing her for training, which seemed like a questionable choice given the circumstances. The one bright spot was Stephan, another server who stepped in to help. He was attentive, patient, kind, and professional. He corrected several mistakes, checked on us appropriately, and genuinely improved what had otherwise been a very frustrating evening. Stephan provided the level of service we expected when choosing a restaurant like this. What makes this particularly disappointing is that the food was excellent. Every dish we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately, the service was so poor that it overshadowed what should have been a special birthday celebration. As we were leaving, we noticed other parties outside discussing their own negative experiences and mentioning that they had also spoken with management. That made it seem like our experience may not have been an isolated incident. I can't confidently recommend this restaurant based on our visit. Busy restaurants need patient, attentive servers who enhance the dining experience, not ones who rush guests, ignore requests, interrupt conversations, and make diners feel pressured to make decisions quickly. Pacing is unacceptable. We were seated at 5:30. Our pastas ( our entrees for the evening) arrived at 6:45. That is not a typo. It was more than an hour after seating, about an hour after ordering, and maybe 30 minutes after our last appetizer. What makes it all the more frustrating is that the table next to ours, that was seated after we had already finished our appetizers, received their pastas only a couple minutes after we did. As for the food itself, it was inconsistent. Some dishes were excellent, but others were very plain. The calamari was definitely the high point, which you might be able to tell since it's one of the only dishes referenced by name in these other reviews. We tried the foccacia, which was good, but for $20, I'd expect more of it. There wasn't enough of the bread to finish the butter that we had. Speaking of which, I think the foccacia would have been better just served warm, not with the sides pan fried again? I understand spreading butter on toasted bread, but spreading butter on top of greasy bread felt excessive. The other items we ordered were the meatballs and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were consistently roasted and uniformly good. The meatballs were rather plain on their own. Neither the pasta sauce nor the pesto/green sauce came through. The biggest disappointment was with the pastas. We shared three: Pomodoro, Bolgenese, and Vodka, and all three were unexceptional. The Pomodoro felt flat. In their defense, my mom ordered it without cheese, and so it is possible that the kitchen did not compensate for the salt missing from the parmesan. Bolgenese and Vodka tasted basically the same as each other... which is odd. Both were creamy without being rich, neither the ground meat nor the nduja were coming through in either dish. The vodka was allegedly spicy but there was none of it coming through. Aside from the shapes of the noodles, and the fact that the vodka was baked for a few minutes to give it a crust, they seemed like basically the same dish. They tried to elevate the vodka pasta by adding toasted breadcrumbs on top. I think that works if the breadcrumbs are seasoned in some way so that the breadcrumbs are little flavor bombs, but these were basically just like adding something gritty to the pasta. Our service started off great, with frequent visits to top off our water, but she started coming by less often as our meal turned into an hours long ordeal. At the start of the evening, my cup overfloweth with water. By the end, it was dry, which was problematic on the warm patio. She seemed knowledgeable about the menu, and was able to make suggestions based off of my mom's preferences, which was helpful. As for the restaurant itself, it has the same "we're trying to be modern, upscale but casual" vibe that looks good on social media - dark wood, light marble, playing with the light. Partioning the bar into its own wing was a decision. I think it would have looked better being able to see the bar from the dining area, but ah well. By blocking lines of sights everywhere, I thought the inside ended up feeling cramped, but others might call it intimate. All in all, a disappointing evening. read more

The food came out very quickly and was truly outstanding! Every single dish was better than the last. My friend went to go see the bar and it was not busy at all to merit such a wait. Then our food arrived shortly after. We noticed the tables around us were getting free drinks and free food since they also were waiting so long for their drinks and food. We wish we were offered the same courtesy especially for the pricing of the items on the menu. How come we weren't comped anything or even got a sorry for the wait? Very disappointing. We were seated at an awkwardly placed table, which has the sun directly in your face close to sunset hours. Their electronic shades were broken and were not able to do anything for us. We felt like they knew this would be an issue and still sat us there with no notice. After we spoke to the manager about our situation and how we had to ask 3 separate staff members to help, we got nothing but a sorry. The slice of foccacia bread with truffle-parmesan butter was delicious (at $20) but things went down hill from there. We had the house made focaccia with whipped lemon ricotta, spicy calamari, carbonara, chicken parmigiana, pomodoro and the caesar salad. Everything tasted fantastic and well balanced - I was surprised to say the chicken parmigiana was my favorite. I also rarely like calamari but the texture and breading was on point. The prices seemed high at first, but when we received the dishes we understood why. The portions are huge and it's definitely meant to be shared family-style, so it's also good value for the price point. The calamari was overcooked and like 1/4 of it was smashed together like someone tried to make a snowball out of calamari before frying it. I also don't think the spice was required for calamari, I've had plenty of calamari in my life where lemon was all that was needed to make it delicious. The bread was maybe 5 small slices with a spread. It had flavor but I felt was over priced for what we got. For mains I had the branzino and my wife had the carbonara pasta. The branzino that you buy at Trader Joe's where you get a bag of 4 fillets cost what $10? Here I was charged $65 (!!!) for 1/2 of one filet that had way too much seasoning and the taste of the fish was an afterthought. For a fish like branzino something simple like salt, pepper, and a touch of lemon are more than enough. Here it was just too much seasoning and overly complicated. The carbonara pasta was too fatty and the presentation was not typical carbonara, it's rigatoni, and 3-4 hours after the restaurant my wife felt super nauseous. I made a reservation for 7:30pm. When I showed up at 7:10pm, the hostess said to wait til the exact time of the reservation... there were plenty of open tables but ok sure. Not even a minute later (lol) she took us to a table tucked in the back corner of the restaurant that feels so different from the point of entry. Much louder. Cramped. Next to the double doors to the kitchen and the cash register. Food took a long time to come out. The waitress had to reassure us 3 times that it'll be out soon (she was nice, I liked her). The pizza was not pre-cut, they give you a pair of scissors to cut it yourself. Interesting... never seen that before. It's about a medium domino's pizza size. We also had the Caesar salad, also not pre-cut but it was pretty good flavor/texture-wise. Skip the bolognese pasta. I enjoyed the vodka pasta out of everything we got. This place is a neighborhood gem. The bar is fabulous, very old school feeling in there. Lov how the chairs aren't on top of one another in the bar. Great place to grab a drink with a friend, or wait till your table is ready. The first few times, loved this place. The last time, the food wasn't up to par. We always get the CHICKEN PARMIGIANA & lov it. Though this time couldn't barely eat it. It was so spicy. We took it home & placed more sauce on it in hopes to help, though it didn't. Such a disappointment. Not happy that the sauce was made different than the other times. Their pies (pizza) are ok. Nothing to write home about. This place was good. I really enjoys the appetizers. We had Brussels sprouts, bruschetta, calamari, meat balls and shrimp cocktail. All of those are must haves. Cesar salad, was amazing!!! That was probably my favorite thing of the night. I was sooo excited for my entree since all the appetizer were AMAZING. I was underwhelmed with the entrees. I had bolognese and it lack the flavors all the other dishes had. It just missed the mark for me. Our waitress was nice and attentive but our drinks took quite long to come out. Good came out decently timed. This is definitely a nice place for brunch or dinner. They have an outside patio for a nice night out. This place is good for larger parties. Service was excellent, and the food was fine; however, I paid $300 for a late evening date night in a place with the ambiance of Dave & Busters. Kids everywhere on iPads and extremely loud. While they have a full bar and an expensive menu, this is a very casual place where plastic sippy cups outnumber wine glasses, which is fine if it was not billed as "classy" and didn't charge $65 for branzino. read more

Spent another lovely dinner at Salina with the lovely Gabby once again and loved it even more. She recommended a great wine to my husband, Prunotoo and he found it so pleasant to actually taste the wine before you order. To my surprise a lot of places don't even bother. It was a Saturday night, pretty busy on the patio and i finally tried the Agnollati, Chicken Parm (it's huge.), Scallops and Vodka Pizza and I am in love. Drinks took a little long but I can't complain with great service and great food. Can't wait to see their plans for happy hour or brunch when i'm off of work more often. Made a reservation for two on a Saturday afternoon and were seated outside which was a lovely, peaceful setting. We started with the scallops, calamari, and Caesar salad. The scallops and Caesar were both outstanding, though the calamari wasn't quite to my taste. The spicy vodka pasta was an absolute 10/10 truly delicious. We also ordered a bottle of wine; they keep it chilled at their server station, so just ask when you'd like a top off. Our server was attentive and made the whole experience even better. Easily the best restaurant in Porter Ranch. It has been a long time coming for this restaurant to open up and it did not disappoint. The drinks are crafted to perfection, the ambience is nice but not stuffy, the staff is a well oiled machine, everything about our experience was great. The food was wonderful. Up until now, Lure was the "nicest" restaurant in Porter Ranch, and now Salina is the perfect date night spot! The food was wonderful, especially the scallops, focaccia, and funghi pizza. Salina, is the recent highly anticipated Italian Mediterranean restaurant, to enter the amazing and still burgeoning dining destination, at the Porter Ranch Vineyards. It is the newest concept addition to the No. 8 group, spearheaded by the restarateur and hospitality team, of Cyrus Batchan and Sarah Lam. Their current portfolio is limited to only five eateries. In Vietnam (two) and the U.S. (three). Most notably, their celebrated one star Michelin restaurant, Camphor, on E 3rd, in Los Angeles. When Salina opened, it was disappointing that even before and after launch, there was no functional website. Therefore, no depiction of a menu or even hours of operation. After much digital digging, I located an internet menu on a third party website or two, that lacked photographic clarity. So was still not sure, what is on the menu. At the onset, the offerings at Salina seemed a "run of the mill" spread, with a small menu and a selection of items you could find anywhere else. And almost next door. I am always looking for something different. I chose the meat balls and the mashed potatoes (actually a puree). The former came out attractive, the latter (with a garlic confit) so very tasty. Yet, both items came to my table less than luke warm. After a few bites, that was a problem. The server was standing next to me. I requested more heating of both dishes. She refused and stated that she had to ask the manager. Really? When the manager got to me he also said he could not reheat, "what comes out from the kitchen, cannot go back". Really? I was persistent. Stating that in numerous restaurants, this has never been an issue. Not only to reheat, even recook or at that matter, substitute. My visit here was a revelation. A rebuke I have never experienced before. So what is the verdict? Nothing different. No uniqueness. A lack of creativity. No awesome dish. Not attractive. Unimpressive.
