We had a wonderful dinner at The Butcher's Grille this evening filled with delicious chicken, juicy steaks, and tasty desserts. The restaurant was modern, bright and tastefully decorated. Our table for 8 was ready according to our reservation and the waiter was very friendly and thoughtful. We started with the Dynamite Shrimp, Lentil soup, and Chicken Shawarma Egg Rolls for our appetizers. We loved the shrimp but the shawarma was more dark meat and not what we expected though it was fine. The lentil soup was excellent. Our entrees included the ribeye steak, the butcher board with ribeye, the creamy chicken freekah, and the double skewer plate. The beef was cooked to perfection whether we ordered medium, medium-well, or well done. The girls loved the creamy chicken and the rice on the skewer plate was aromatic and delicious. Our desserts were the knafa with ice cream and carrot cake. Both were shareable so we all got a taste. I came here for a bday dinner and it didn't disappoint. The interior is very clean and classy, and the staff is super friendly. They have a variety of dishes ranging from comfort foods such as burgers, wraps and fries to exquisite main courses such as kabob platters, steaks, fish and many more. It's the perfect middle eastern spot that isn't too pricey but also has a nice elegant vibe. The chicken shawarma I got was very delicious, they were generous with the amount of chicken inside the wrap and they seasoned it very well. The hummus tasted fresh (my only suggestion is to add more garlic and olive oil) and the chicken freekeh dish was delicious as well. Let me start by saying I was with a party of 4...and our bill had a 18% tip included. The food, service, and ambiance could be great however, forcing a tip left me with a bad taste. I would think a group of 6 or more would make more sense. Anyways... Food: - had multiple small plates and the kabab platter. Sides were okay. Nothing incredible. The pita bread is clearly store bought. I didn't think anything was memorable. Houston has SO much good Mediterranean food and sadly this doesn't make the cut. - meat was tender and tasty however, the kababs were literally the size of chick fil a nuggets. If they pride themselves in their meats, they should probably make sure that is 100/10. - knafeh with ice cream was a disgrace to knafeh and sadly a disservice to Lebanese food. It was a buttery and mushy topped with average ice cream. Knafeh is supposed to have a crisp exterior with a cheese pull interior. This tasted like a soft sponge soaked with an exorbitant amount of butter. Service: - our waiter was sweet and available and the manager (?) came to our table multiple times to check in on us. Water glasses were always full. Service was great, however I would've gladly given 20% tip. Just don't force me to do it--it's not a good look. Never been here before, and we don't ever go out for Lebanese food, but this place was great. We got the creamy crab rounds as an appetizer, and they were so yummy. The sauce was the sweet and sour sauce you get at Asian restaurants, and was a little too strong for me, but the filling was such a nice texture. Definitely the best item we got. The double skewer plate was also really good. We got the beef kafta and the Lebanese sausage. The onions were really nice and sweet, and the grilled tomato was delicious. The pepper was super duper spicy, so beware of that when you're eating it. They also had this like yogurt butter on the side, which really helped with the spice and it gave an extra lemony and acidic profile to the dish. The pita was good but not my favorite just because the pickled cabbage and acidic components overtook the dish. The meat also could've been softer, but overall an amazing meal. They've been open for 1 year this month, and the ambiance was 12/10. Loved the plates, the lighting inside, the windows, everything about the aesthetic was superior. I found myself at The Butcher's Grille for a business lunch. It's located off San Felipe near Chimney Rock (walking distance from the Einstein Bagel center and across the street from Mod Pizza). The parking situation is interesting - it feels like you're entering the parking garage for an apartment complex, and the first two floors are free parking for retail. Parking was certainly not empty as it was for lunch on a Friday, but I lucked out and found a spot on the first floor fairly easily. The walk from the garage to the restaurant is only like 20 feet and once you walk in, you'll be impressed with the ambiance and decor. The service was also spot on - our waiter was training another waiter, and between the two, they were great. An excellent example of Lebanese hospitality (that's what the restaurant is supposed to represent, according to their bio.). Anyhow my party had a reservation and we were seated quickly. We ordered a mix of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. Here's the breakdown: - Dynamite shrimp: tasty but very small portions for the price. - Baba Ghanouj: quite flavorful! I would get that again. - Fattoush salad: I think it was my favorite! Nice flavors and great texture. A bit small for the price. - Truffle fries: I appreciated the generous portions but the dish came out a bit cold and I wasn't expecting the nacho cheese topping (not my favorite mix of flavors). - Honey buttermilk chicken sandwich: solid effort but not served piping hot and not as good overall as I expected. The crab puffs absolutely delicious a full of meat so good sometimes you get them and it's more cream cheese than anything but this had a great portion of crab in every bite. it was definitely worth it. The butcher board with the ribeye was cooked to perfection. The lamb chop was absolutely delicious with the chimichurri sauce, we didn't have anything that we didn't like. Beautiful decor, and ambiance was so amazing. I loved every bit of it. The staff was all so attentive and hospitable, they welcomed us with open arms as soon as we walked inside. Let's get to the important stuff here is what we ordered- 1- Frozen Mint Lemonade. So freaking delicious. I usually drink so slow but I chugged my drink because it was that good. 2- Fatoush Salad- delicious and my favorite salad I have had. The hints of pomegranate, the light dressing. Omg I still think about this salad it's so good. 3- Dynamite Shrimp- delicious and a good appetizer option. Loved the presentation of how it was served. 4- Truffle and Co loaded fries. These were so different and good. The waiter recommended these and they did not disappoint. There was a mistake and we were brought out the holy chicken fries out first. For the entrees, we ordered beef kefta pita, chicken taowuk pita, Lebanese burger and the hot n spicy chicken sandwich. We also ordered some truffle fries they were delicious! All meats were a bit over the doneness we asked for. Good: Walnut Shrimp was tasty and the apple added nice brightness. Fattoush salad had a sweet/tart dressing and pomegranate seeds. Lamb chops had great flavor and even though they were medium and not medium rare (what we requested) they were still tender. Carrot cake was not too sweet and the icing was surprisingly light. With the tall ceilings, blue leather booths, cute light fixtures, and decorative wall details, the space is modern, clean, elegant, minimalist, and new. On a Monday afternoon around 12:30 we were the second table that arrived during lunchtime. I really liked that the restaurant was quiet and peaceful but on the flipside I thought "It's not a good sign for a restaurant to not be busy during lunchtime." They pride themselves on making many things in house from scratch. The hummus was beautifully presented in a blue bowl with a little moat of olive oil with micro greens and garbanzo for garnish. Despite the beautiful presentation, I didn't care for the flavor of the olive oil. The pita bread that was served with the hummus fresh yet the pita temperature was lukewarm, and I would've preferred it to be genuinely warm. I had the chicken Shawarma pita which had garlic sauce, chicken, pickle, french fries, but it was missing freshness elements like onions, lettuce, tomatoes, to give contrast the inside of my pita was brown because most of the ingredients had no color. This also meant the flavor was somewhat monotonous. I don't think their chicken Shawarma was seasoned that well, and the garlic flavor of the garlic sauce wasn't strong enough to add some flavor contrast. My mother had the grilled chicken plate. There were nice grill marks on the chicken. Their rice was delicious beautiful grains very well seasoned; you could definitely see that they had used chicken broth as part of seasoning the rice, which made it lovely. The chicken itself didn't have such a pronounced seasoning or that much salt and there was no salt shakers on the table, so it was just a touch underwhelming. My mother had the mint lemonade, which was absolutely perfectly chilled and refreshing. I had the strawberry lemonade, which was pleasant. It almost felt like a slushy because the ice was so finely smooth. Our meal was about $30 to $40 per person and at that price point my expectations are that the flavors of each of the elements should be incredible, because it's not a $10 entree. When I look at the price and the flavor of the food regrettably, there's a gap. I have no problems paying for expensive delicious food, but it lands as just higher price points with underwhelming flavors. Would I recommend it? No. Would I come back? No. It's a shame because when I read their website, I was super excited about this dining experience but the gap between the menu and the actual food flavor is disappointing. read more

An export from Dearborn, that I've been hearing raves about, was so excited to try! I didn't realize that it was a part of an apartment complex, so parking is within an apartment complex garage. The first two floors are dedicated to retail parking, and once I found the place, parking was ample! This place is described as refined- yet casual, and I'd have to agree. The menu is vast, with steaks, burgers, loaded fries, and your typical Mediterranean options such as hummus, baba ganouj, and Kibbeh. They also have mocktails- we tasted the rose water spritz, and sunset mimosa. My friend found her spritz to be refreshing but my mimosa was just ok. My friend loved her steak, and said the medium rare was cooked to perfection. She loved the sauce that came with it. I equally loved my burger. It had an onion ring and bacon (beef) that added such great texture and crisp to the burger. It was all perfectly seasoned and mouthwatering to think about now. I could easily see myself visiting again, and I really want to try their loaded fries and hot chicken sandwich next time. I will say my burger took awhile coming out, and my side was then cold. My companion also didn't dig in waiting for my food so her food was cold- this was unfortunate. Even after showing my reservation confirmation, they were quite confused but still placed my party at a table! I enjoyed the restaurant and entrees, everything was tasteful and aromatic. The halloumi sticks were really expensive $13 for 4 sticks and it was even more than the felafel wrap entree. Love the ambiance, style, and location. It's a very outings style restaurant, makes you want to dress nice, and it's very reasonably priced for what it is. I tried the crab balls and Reuben egg roll for appetizers. Reuben egg rolls were awesome, and the dipping sauce with it was great so definitely recommend. The crab balls weren't too special for me, but it wasn't bad either. For entree, I got the butchers burger, which was cooked well and came with a very generous amount of fries, but for me it was too salty because the burger was seasoned heavily and it also had beef bacon, and that combo needs something like avocado or something to reduce the salt (or just less seasoned burgers). Also, for the way everything is presented... I expect something other than ketchup to come with my fries (like that egg roll dip?). Service was friendly, but it does take a while! Everything is great--upscale ambiance, but down-to-earth vibe (people wearing jeans, Nikes, etc), friendly, professional service, excellent dishes (all of them!), decent prices. This was such a delight! I came out tonight with my family for dinner and the food was excellent! We ordered a dynamite loaded fries for the table which we gobbled down, and I ordered the filet mignon. I was a fan of the steak and asparagus, but an even bigger fan of the mashed potatoes! Not pictured: sweet kale salad (6.5/10- it was fine but it came with goat cheese which I'm not a fan of), a classic cheeseburger (7/10- my brother thought it was alright) and a grand platter (8.5/10- my parents ordered this, they were happy with it.) One thing that could improve is the service. I understand that there are big parties that need more attention than smaller groups but we were waiting for a very long time. Chicken is cooked perfectly, it is moist, well balanced, the cranberry rice is also very delicious and flavorful, mushroom really did the trick! As long as that chicken is cooked the way that I got it, this will be a go to for me! I hate dry and overcooked chicken. The butchers board with rib eye, delicious. The green sauce is very flavorful and not too overwhelming. I asked for my steak medium and they delivered as ordered. The shoestring fries are a deal maker. The salad dressing is refreshing. A bit tangy and very well balanced with the other goodies on the board. The garlic bread is a must, if it was thinly sliced like crostini, it would be an easier grab and bite. Nonetheless amazing!!! The beef shawarma egg rolls were a slight miss because the beef was a little dry. Something more refreshing in them or over them like tabouli or cucumber yogurt dip would enhance it a bit. Stumbled across The Butcher's Grille on IG and the food just looked amazing! When I read the menu and there were a billion items I wanted to try, I made it a priority to come visit! I love that you can get full off a selection of mezze items! We ordered the hummus and baba ghannouj and they were both fantastic. I wish it came with the fluffy/soft hot pita but it came with thin pita that you can buy at the groceries. It wasn't my favorite but I suppose it works as a mode of transfer for said dip. The pita could utilize an upgrade, though the dips were good. The baba ghannouj is one of the best ones I've tasted in a long time! It was smokey and chunky but creamy at the same time. Topped with pomegranates, it had amazing flavors. I enjoyed it a lot and actually prefer it over the hummus. The grape leaves were citrusy and good. The Mac and cheese balls were alright. I enjoyed it with the tomato sauce it was served on but it wasn't my favorite. The fried halloumi was yum! Battered, fried and topped with honey?! We loved it! The restaurant is very clean, the seats are comfortable, the music is great. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the family feast plate because it comes with 10 skewers of protein and you can choose what type of protein, plus it comes with rice, grilled tomato and onion. Also we ordered Tabouleh and hummus and babaghanouj. The meat was tender, the food had right seasoning and most importantly the Tabouleh had the exact amount of oil and lemon. Walking in, the ambience did not disappoint. It looked cozy from the outside, and walking in the gentle lighting along with the beautifully decorated restaurant, I was excited for a lovely time. Unfortunately, it was not a lovely time. The negative review has everything to do with the service, and not the delicious food. We were seated fairly quickly, but once the host handed us our menu, no one acknowledged us for the next 15 minutes, not even to offer us waters. The awkward part was many waiters passed our tables to other groups, some even made eye contact with us, but none offered assistance or even assured us someone is coming. We had to flag down someone bussing to ask if we can get help. When the manager came, not even a hello how are you guys, or offer of drinks, but just a straight "so what can I get you?" The interaction definitely could've been warmer. But we placed all our orders, from appetizers to entrees, then finished with can we just have some waters, which he finally acknowledged that he was just about to ask. Our waiter finally came and repeated our orders, and he halfheartedly said sorry about the wait before rushing to another table. The rest of the dinner felt as great as that intro, we just felt rushed and not that we weren't welcomed, just that we weren't prioritized. Our waiter kept stopping by to ask how our food was, but we barely had time to respond before he moved onto his bigger table. We ordered the Mac and cheese balls and falafels for appetizers, I ordered the rib eye butchers board and hubby got the lamb chops. Perfectly seasoned and super tender meats. There were absolutely no leftovers. The food was excellent, easily a 10/10 on all dishes. That's why it is so disappointing to not have the service complement the exceptional food for a 5 star experience. I get it, we're a small group vs. bigger groups being served. But if we were assured we were going to be taken care of, then absolutely we would've been happy to wait for good food. I was excited to try a birthday dessert, but I didn't even want to see the menu by then because I just wanted to leave. It definitely soured the night in that moment. And it's so disappointing, I really wanted to like this place because the food is an excellent, even amazing experience. But service can make or break that experience, just like it did here. read more
