I never write yelp reviews. This is my first one and I'm so glad it is. The food was great but I'm here to talk about the service. Our waitress, Kylie, was phenomenal. The restaruant was super busy and she was running around to several tables. She took our orders and checked on us frequently and would update us on the status of our orders. She was smiling and friendly the entire time. I was celebrating a belated birthday and she brought out a tiramisu with a candle and a birthday card hand signed with messages from the staff. After we got our check and paid/tipped we chatted for a minute or two where she had shared she was having a not so easy week. Despite her having her own things to focus on, she was attentive and had the best attitude. We will be dining here again of course because of the quality of the food but mainly because of the quality of the service we recieved with Kylie. She made our entire expereince. This was our first time at this restaurant, and we absolutely loved everything! The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. Our server, Danny was fantastic!!!! A little after we placed our order, the manager came to our table to let us know that one of the items we had ordered was unavailable. He kindly told us we could choose anything else from the menu, and he would cover it himself. It was such a thoughtful and generous gesture that really stood out!!!! The food is good but certainly not remarkable . Very formulaic as you might expect from a large chain restaurant.. The ambiance is lively and has a fun vibe. We ate outside which was very pleasant. The service was fair. it took forever to get an order from the bar. The drinks came when the salad was served which is unacceptable. The server was friendly but seemed like he was covering too many tables. All in all, I will likely eat there again if others want to, but I certainly will not be rushing back soon, especially given there are many other restaurants in Walnut Creek that offer much more interesting food. read more

Indoor and outdoor ambiance is a 5/5 I tried their garlic bread, calamari, and eggplant Parmesan and of the 3 the eggplant parm was a 5/5. Seriously you could hardly taste it was eggplant, it was deliciously crispy and the sauce was so good. braised short rib 5/5 perfectly tender, nicely plated. Ricotta Cavatelli - 4/5 I got mine shrimp only no crab bc I didn't want it to be too fishy and it was delicious, but the portion was extremely small. Service was good, apparently they don't sing happy birthday here so if you're expecting that on a birthday they will not do it but your table as a whole can. read more

2nd time here today and it was absolutely delicious. The experience was different than my first time. Ordered the Garlic Knot Meatball (sliders) with a side of greens. Nicely seasoned and tossed. Sliders were nice and chewy garlic bread and flavorful meatball filling. The butter cake was the high of the meal. Never expected it to taste this GD good. Warm, crispy edges, the crunch, the moist center, the banana slices, the VB gelato, the caramel, and crumbles of crust sprinkled throughout like WHAT. North Italia has room to grow, but sadly on my first visit I found the food and drink disappointing compared to other Italian restaurants nearby. I visited on Saturday, April 25th, with a 3pm reservation and it was still quite busy (but also the restaurant was new). We were seated promptly at a table where we could see into the kitchen. I was really impressed with the ambiance, decor, and the bar area and patio looked very inviting! It took a little while for our server to take our order. Unlike other Italian restaurants in the area, bread wasn't brought out automatically, so we ordered the White Truffle Garlic Bread (4.5/5) to start. This was very tasty and we even had leftovers, but sadly this is the only part of the meal I liked. I got the Sunday Night Lasagna (2.5/5), that has some short rib and sausage inside, and it was disappointing. Just not memorable and I wouldn't order it again. I also got a La Spezia (2/5) mocktail as a drink and it wasn't very good. I would consider coming back to try the bar area or patio since the vibe is really nice, and to give another pasta dish or the pizza a chance...But Downtown Walnut Creek has so many Italian restaurants now, and at least 3 of them have better food. read more

A quick stop that turned into a reminder of why this place is always busy. Stopped by with The Kid after a doctor's appointment and the Hercules Cultural Festival. We didn't have a reservation, but were seated immediately in the bar area at one of the high-top tables. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We had already eaten earlier in the day and were just looking for a little something, so we ordered the House-Made Focaccia, which is topped with wild oregano, rosemary, and sea salt. We also added the House Bomba Sauce. The focaccia was excellent. Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, with amazing flavor from the herbs and sea salt. The House Bomba Sauce wasn't really for us personally, but I could absolutely see the appeal. It added a rich, savory element that many people would probably love. Unfortunately, because The Kid has allergies to nuts, tree nuts, and seeds, we weren't able to try the Sicilian Pistachio Pesto Whipped Ricotta option. For drinks, I ordered the famous Sicilian Margarita. It was delicious but definitely stronger than I expected, so I switched to a glass of Moscato, which was much more my speed. The Kid ordered one of their zero-proof drinks and really enjoyed it. The decor is beautiful with large murals throughout the restaurant, and the menu offers something for everyone. They also have an extensive wine list and a dessert menu that definitely caught my eye for next time. Exceptional service, great atmosphere, and delicious food. The space, indoors and out, is gorgeous. Beautiful vibe on a Saturday night. It was packed. We were told 50 minute wait so we were looking for another place but they got us in in about 10-15 minutes. The service was great but the menu needs some work still. The descriptions should match. The funghi had onions (though the menu did not mention it, and I had told the waitress that I have a near allergy aversion to onions). I only ate one slice and gave it away to the other couple I was with for home. The truffle garlic bread, both in its presentation and taste, is just amazing and made our night. We got a second order. The desserts were disappointing (again, the butter cake should have mentioned banana because my friend hates banana). The drinks were meh. It's right next to The Cheesecake Factory and in a huge space. I hope they fine tune everything soon because there is so much potential. We decided to stop by on a whim for a drink and a small bite without making a reservation. Since the restaurant was busy, they took our name and told us they would call us in about 45 minutes. To their credit, they called us almost exactly 45 minutes later. We ended up having a couple of drinks and a pizza, and everything was excellent. The pizza was delicious, the drinks were great, and the overall quality of the food was impressive. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was lively, and the staff were friendly and professional. Even though it was quite busy, everything seemed well organized. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and definitely worth 5 stars. We would happily come back again. read more

Giving this place a 3.5 because I've had better Italian food. Visited this place with girlfriends. It's a spacious and contemporary restaurant. While the portions could have been a bit larger compared to some other restaurants, the spicy rigatoni was delicious and had a perfectly balanced sauce. The prosciutto and fig pizza was a delightful combination. The calamari appetizer was the right size. Their drink specials complemented our meals well. However, the noise level was quite high, a 12+ on a scale of 1-10. We literally had to sit close and yell to each other. Hahaha! read more

I originally planned on ordering one of the steak dishes, but they were already sold out. I then switched to the chicken dish, only to find out that was unavailable too, so the restaurant must've been pretty busy even though it was only around 7 PM. I ended up getting the vodka pasta instead, and honestly, it was really good. The sauce was creamy and cheesy without being too heavy or overwhelming. The roasted salmon was also delicious, nicely crispy on the bottom while still not feeling greasy. Lowkey disappointed of this place. We got mimosas and they gave us half a carafe of juice which I thought was weird. It looked like someone just drank it and they put it on our table. Service was extremely slow we just awkwardly sat for an hour before even getting drinks even. My food didn't come even after all my friends food came in so I just ended up cancelling my order. We also upgraded the pizza crust and we didn't get the upgrade. She did not table touch at all. The portions were small for how much it was. It was extremely disappointing. Came here with a group of eight to celebrate a friend's birthday, and I left with pretty mixed feelings. The biggest saving grace of the evening was easily the service. Right off the bat, our reservation was a little puzzling. Despite knowing we had a party of eight, we were seated in what was essentially a booth better suited for six. Rather than rearranging the table, one of our friends ended up with a chair awkwardly placed at the end of the booth, making the seating feel cramped for the entire meal. Not exactly the most comfortable setup for a birthday dinner. Food-wise, it was a bit of a roller coaster. The calamari unfortunately missed the mark. It arrived overcooked, dry, and rubbery, which made for a disappointing start. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, the truffle garlic bread was phenomenal. Crispy, buttery, fragrant, and packed with flavor, it's easily something I'd order again without hesitation. I went with the ricotta cavatelli with lump crab and shrimp. The flavors were excellent, and the seafood tasted fresh, but the pasta itself leaned a little past al dente and was slightly overcooked. Still a very enjoyable dish overall. For the price point and being in Walnut Creek, I expected the food to be a bit more memorable. It wasn't bad by any means. It just didn't quite live up to the expectations that come with the atmosphere and menu prices. What really kept this from being a lower rating was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely accommodating throughout the evening. They handled our large party well and made sure drinks stayed full and everyone felt taken care of. I'd probably come back for the truffle garlic bread and the hospitality, but I'd temper my expectations when it comes to the food. Great service can absolutely elevate a dining experience, and in this case, it was the highlight of the night. read more

We tried to make reservations online, but the restaurant was fully booked. Luckily, I called and found open seating at the bar. We wanted to try this new location because it was a favorite of ours in Virginia, specifically for their fabulous Farmers Market Chef's Board and its amazing vegetables. Unfortunately, that option is no longer on the menu. They only offer a meat version now, which was not for us. The new location is nice, featuring large shared tables in front of a few small flat screens over the bar. Service was good. Rounding up a bit here. Tried North Italia for lunch on a Friday, and was seated right away. We were given our menus, and had a good amount of time to go through. Our server stopped by to take drink orders, and other than water, I got a cappuccino. We tried the following - Margherita pizza - we wanted to try a pizza to share, and the server recommended the margherita pizza. Good stuff usually, but I wasn't too fond of this one. The pizza was really soft, and the cheese seemed stuck such that it took more effort to pick up the slices. Flavors were alright, but the sogginess wasn't pleasant. Arancini - 6 lil balls to an order with a side of sauce. Both the balls and sauce had good flavor, but the balls were a bit too salty for my liking. Italian Meatballs - my fave thing I tried this time. The meatballs itself were bland and they get pretty solid if not eaten right away. The ricotta and sauce was everything here. So good with the protein balls. Cappuccino - loved the size and cup. Came with a lil spoon and a couple sugars. Flavor was alright, a bit lighter than I usually take, but it was good. Loved the atmosphere / decor here, and service was great for us. I'd love to try some other items on the menu, notably various pastas and other appetizers, and of course, cocktails! read more

3.5 stars Finally checked out North Italia Walnut Creek's newest spot and I had no idea it's owned by The Cheesecake Factory, but it totally makes sense since it's right next door. Made a reservation just in case, and I still can't believe it took over the old Tilly's space. The layout is gorgeous super spacious with a beautiful outdoor seating area right in front. Staff was friendly, and honestly, such a fun way to keep my birthday celebrations going. My friend couldn't make my birthday dinner, so she wanted to take me out, and I had missed another friend's birthday... so I told her I'd take her out instead. It all worked out since we're all in the same friend group anyway. Food-wise, a few standouts for me: Classic alla vodka Kale salad Burrata House-made donuts The squid ink tonnarelli, though, wasn't my favorite it tasted undercooked and a bit too firm. The roasted salmon was pretty mid. The tiramisu was delicious, the brown balls on top are crunchy chocolate and the cake inside was chewy. Service - Waiter was kind but the food was slow to come out. The dessert took longer to come out than the food. Ambiance - The space of the restaurant was a decent size, the indoor seating was comfortable. Beautiful restaurant conveniently nestled next to the parking garage near Pressed Juicery and Buckhorn Grill. We opted to sit on the patio since it was such a gorgeous day, and it made the experience even better. We started with three Italian Spritz for the table-- light, refreshing, and the perfect way to kick things off. The Chef's Board was a standout; it had a great mix of sweet, savory, and crunchy elements. We devoured it and will definitely be ordering it again next time!!! For mains, the Italian Cobb was delicious, but the panzanella completely stole the show. I honestly wish I had ordered that instead!! It was not only more flavorful, but also felt like a better value compared to similar options at Buckhorn, making North Italia a strong choice for anyone deciding between the two. Very refreshing! -Hot Italian Stromboli 5/5: We ordered this one by mistake, and we loved it! Every bite was delicious! Not a lot of bread, just well-balanced. -Hot Honey & Smoked Prosciutto 4/5: the pizza was simple and delicious. I want to try other pizzas, but this was a good, safe choice. -Spicy Rigatoni Vodka with Breaded Chicken 3/5: This was not the best. The sauce had a different aftertaste, and I didn't enjoy it as much. I didn't enjoy this particular dish as much. The chicken was a bit dry too. -Trottole Chicken Pesto 5/5: perfection! The pesto is not overpowering; it has shredded chicken, and every bite is well-balanced. -Pollo Fritto 2/5 (brunch menu): This was a disappointing dish. The hash potatoes and crispy chicken were very dry and over-fried. They were a bit bland. I wouldn't order this again. -Roasted Salmon 4/5: delicious salmon and well-balanced with the other items in the dish. You can't go wrong with this one. The chopped chicken salad was very filling with a generous amount of chicken and bacon. As everyone knows, everything is better with bacon. The bolognese pasta was alright. We were so excited to try this newly opened restaurant. The parking garage is attached and has free 3 hour parking, located next to Cheesecake Factory. We went on week night it was busy but not overly crowded . I love the large open bar that opens to the outside. Next time I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. I ordered the kale salad. I wish it had a crunch so I ordered the white truffle garlic bread. So yummy with the crunch and extra dollop of cheese. The short ribs are melt in your mouth so good. Wow! We were there for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was humming! Large - very large!beautifully laid out space, indoor and outdoor. They are here to stay, baby! Serious investment in this brand new restaurant. They do need a few more weeks under their belt to smooth some things out, but they were minor - like mixing up Lunch and Dinner menus. There were four of us and we ordered family style. - chopped chicken salad, actually delicious! Enough to share. - spicy Italian grinder sandwich with Parmesan French fries. Glad we were splitting it! Sandwich was excellent, the extra crispy fries were better! - spicy rigatoni vodka: good, not awesome. Could have been a touch spicier. Our waiter and his helpers were doing fine. The kitchen seemed a little backed up as there was a long wait between the salad and the entrees - and the two entrees came out separately about five minutes apart. Hence, they lost a star. North Italia opened 2.5 weeks ago, keep that in mind before visiting. The staff is very "green" and confused. There were 5 people behind the front desk doing nothing* as a line crowded around in chaos. Customers were asking each other about wait times and places in line. Wait times are long, despite empty tables inside and outside. After settling on bar seating, we noticed that the staff behind the bar was also plentiful. They socialized with each other, rather than greeting us. We had to interrupt their personal conversation for service. My husband's meal was incorrect, asking to pay the bill was a challenge. We inquired about using apple pay, and a young lady behind the bar asked my husband to unlock his cell phone so she could walk away with it and tap pay all the way down at the end of their very long bar. This was completely unprofessional and alarming. She could have asked my husband to follow her down closer to the pay station. I don't know what's going on here, but it was a stressful and challenging experience. Wouldn't recommend. Perhaps give them ample time to train the staff prior to visiting. read more

Came here on a sat afternoon and the weather was perfect and ambiance was nice. The service was good but the wait was too long. My Italian Cobb salad was unique and tasty and pretty big. The fig pizza is filling and more on the sweet side and but the dough is too chewy and not crispy. I would try the pasta next time but I would really hope they would improve on their wait time. The staff was apologetic about it. Overall, I think it might be worth another shot. Hope it is because it is a beautiful space. read more

To celebrate a milestone birthday I chose to go to North Italia and boy oh boy was it a good choice!! We had a reservation for six people and when we wanted to add a seventh, they did it with no problem, which was amazing. All of the food was delicious and our waiter, Rob, was phenomenal! He was very personable and attentive. He did not hover, but was very good about meeting our needs and even made a personal connection with me which was very cool! I have now been to North Italia in two different cities for a total of three times and highly recommend it!! It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday. read more

Last Monday we came here for drinks at the bar. Luci helped us and she and staff were excellent. My friend and I wanted to try their wine but weren't sure what to order. Luci brought another staff to help with the wine selection and she was great I described what I like and she recommended the Barolo. Which was perfect for me. They were busy as it was a game night. Next to it's sister restaurant Cheese Cake Factory on Plaza Escuela It's about a week in for this location so i will revisit at some point and maybe give them some slack. Service was spotty, a bit puzzling really. Not at caliper of their other locations. Clearly, a growth opportunity for some of their servers. Food was good for most part.
