Let's start with the Chicken Tenders- Holy cow what a deal. You can feed a family of three with this. Like a family meal deal. Great flavor and comes with 2 sides. We got the onion rings and fries. You can have the tenders mixed with any of the Hot Wing sauces. The onion rings were awesome as well. Service was good - just know that there is smoking here so be prepared to smell like a cigarette butt when you leave but other than that- certainly worth a try. Tl;dnr summary at the end. This place is a dive bar where smokers are welcome. There is a nonsmoking area where we chose to sit because I had something of a cold. That was a mistake. The area is an afterthought at best where servers are concerned. We seated ourselves at an immaculate booth. Yay! I grabbed a couple of menus from the host's stand. We had enough time to select our drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and a dessert before someone showed up to greet us. She hadn't brought water which is not a big deal but she left without giving us a chance to go ahead and order anything or everything in one go. She ran off and eventually returned with water and tea. We had her take the entire order so we wouldn't have to wait between courses. We were not optimistic enough about the intervals between her visits. We were correct. Someone brought out our order eventually. We needed the condiments we had requested when we placed our order. This person ran off before we could ask once again. Our food looked great. Smelled good too. There was hope for dinner and we hoped our condiments would soon arrive. Misplaced hope. When our server showed up later into our meal, we had given up on those things and asked for the bill. She took this moment to sell us dessert. Against our better judgement, we agreed. Who can resist a big warm fudge brownie with vanilla ice cream?!? We finished our meal and awaited our dessert and bill. She brought both but the brownie was cold and the ice cream, you guessed it, was nearly melted. The dessert wasn't worth the time. However, the wings and burger with blue cheese but no mushrooms were very good but might could have been better had we not given up on the condiments. We paid but it was really hard to justify leaving even a standard tip. To temper this negativity, she might just have been having a rough night because all the issues we had were centred around the service which may have been caused by the area we were in. Of course we tipped appropriately. To summarize, food was damned good bar food. The place IS a dive bar but that is part of the appeal. If your not a fan of smoking you will not like it though. Why bother with managers! I had an issue and asked for a manager. Turns out she was sitting doing nothing at the bar and witnessed everything. But told me she didn't bother to do anything since nobody else complained. Friendly and attentive service in a very laid back casual atmosphere. Salad was fresh though mostly iceberg lettuce. Hardly had the salad long before my fish and chips arrived so had to eat that first while it was hot. Fish was three thick sticks supposedly hand breaded. They were quite crunchy and good though I was somewhat disappointed in the fish texture; a little on the dry side probably a bit overcooked. When one door closes, another door opens... or so the expression goes. Our regular "Taco Tuesday" place has been On the Border-North Point. For better or worse, (We adored Tim and the team, the prices were good and food fair)... but when we drove up and saw the dining room dark and the sign on the door, we knew we had to find a new Taco Tuesday place. I mean, what's Taco Tuesday at "Wendy's", right? So, my son and I went into our mental Rolodex with the criteria that we needed to stay within a 10ish minute drive of On the Border so we could help all our displaced friends find a new go-to. We'd recently ordered through our Uber Eats this 'new to us' place called "North River Tavern" knowing well and good that bar food is either going to be frozen pizza in a toaster oven or the best damn food ever... and honestly, when it's a mom and pop, the consistency could land each visit anywhere between. But we'd ordered DELIVERY as our first experience. And it was a total freakin hit! My son... shocker... chicken tenders and fries... the same food, different place... Me, I ordered loaded tots... The food arrived that first day, quickly (thanks Uber Eats) fairly quickly, but condensation/styrofoam packaging, a little concerning... eh, 'soggy' We nibbled... with limited expectations. Within about 15 minutes, both our 'plates' were empty! (Sorry, no pics, but it was damn good! These shells are NOT bar shells.. they seem homemade somehow. The tacos have tomatoes, sour cream, and are more 'supreme' than 'og' in my opinion. They were so much better in person than in the 2nd day of delivery, because they were still hot and fresh (minus the 20 min delivery time). I got the chips and salsa as my side dish, but you can get fries, or any 'regular' side dish as your side here. ... remember, you're eating Mexican food at a bar, so you're not stuck with Mexican food... let your fusion taste buds free... go for a side dish of tater tots!! Honestly, after we ate, I walked over to the bar side, and took all these pics... we didn't eat on the bar side, but next side, I'll be bar side for sure. I would recommend North River Tavern, however there is room for improvement. Service in dining room was slow, not sure if kitchen was running slow and that was the problem, but it was slow. Food was good. My husband who is picky about his burgers was really pleased. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich advertised as a special on texas toast. It really wasn't chicken salad and came out on a bun, but tasted ok. Fries were good and crispy. Probably give them another visit and see if things can improve. Service and food was complete trash today. I've been here a few times and the food was ok, service never stellar, today all time low. Today we actually waited on ourselves pretty much. Got our own refills from the bar, napkins, straws, silverware. The guy was nice but completely mentally somewhere else and basically basically disappeared. I completely understand and sympathize with servers and their plight, I really do. Long hours, low pay, demanding guests. We get it. But service is service and the fact of the matter is, being busy or overwhelmed should not reflect on how we are treated spending money because guess what, if no one walked in here ever again, all those problems would be solved real quick. This place has earned the label "dive bar" in the best sense of the word. Beer lovers will appreciate the amazing choices of really good beer on tap. Hard to decide among all the great beers. Food choices are typical bar/restaurant fare - nothing really great and nothing really bad - just good decent food. The parking lot is always packed but there is so much seating and space that the place never feels crowded. A bit of a Cheers bar as there are a lot of regular patrons and lots of familiar repartee among the patrons, bartenders and wait staff. We came here late night on a weekend, and it was pretty busy. There is a smoking and a non-smoking area, and the non-smoking was away from the all the noise. The atmosphere was like a local dive bar/sports bar. Service was slightly slow, but the wait staff was friendly. - Wings (3.5/5): These were pretty good. The sauces were interesting. We ordered hot but didn't get a regular hot flavor, pretty sure we got hot house instead. Still really good, tasted almost like truffle. BBQ flavor was okay - Tavern taquitos (4/5): The taquitos were surprisingly tasty. Great bar and restaurant! My group of five hungry hikers were very satisfied with our burgers (hiked nearby at Island Ford, see review for more details). I had the blue cheese mushroom burger with side of cold slaw. See picture. Others had different burgers and crispy french fries. All were happy. I had been traveling since 4 am without much food and only coffee. When I was close to my destination I could not wait any longer. We stopped at North River Tavern thinking ok Bar food it is. I was not expecting great food and above all the great service we received. Walking in I met a gentleman that just had surgery on his foot and was so impressive with his Doctor, he was just wanting to share his experience before meeting up with his college friends as he does weekly for many years at this very Tavern. As we walked in he suggested a couple of things on the menu and off the menu! We truly lead us in the right direction. As we walked in, it seemed as if we were walking into CHEERS from TV land. Every one knew everyone by name. Very warming. We were quick sat down and I ordered immediately at the suggestions from the gentleman and the server! It was a cold and dreary day so Onion soup was the first thing on the list. Followed by the rut special of the day with side items only local know. When the food came out I thought I would never finish the food I ordered . I must tell you the food was hearty and plentiful. I was surprised I ate all. We went fishing on the Chattahoochee River today. We didn't catch anything worth eating (trout) so my husband brought us to lunch at this establishment. I was looking around at the old worn out dark smoke stinky interior thinking it could withstand a good pressure washing inside. My friend wanted to come to North River Tavern for trivia night. The restaurant was packed and there were some seriously professional trivia players! They were very into the game and seem to come here regularly. It was probably my 2nd time doing trivia, so our team clearly lost. Despite that, the service and food were just OK. NRT is one of my favorite dive bars. Instead of calling in my to go order, I decided to go inside the restaurant to take a look at the full menu. I ordered the Garlic Parmesan wings with fries, and a Pink Lemonade. The wings were so good! The flavor was perfect! The Customer Service from all of the staff members was amazing and the prices are very reasonable. I'll be returning very soon! Had a taste for NRT! It wasn't always like this. The food at North River Tavern was delicious and the prices were fair. It was that way since 2018 when I first enjoyed a meal here. A neighbor insisted I check out the wings and to his credit, they didn't disappoint. The service was really good and communication was consistent. Things have changed. I placed an online order last night (7:47pm) with 8:07 pm as the due time. 8:17pm rolls around and I'm getting reassuring smiles and other phrases intended to mitigate the fact that others have already arrived and left their food while I was waiting. 8:24pm comes and my food finally makes an appearance! The fries weren't crispy or crunchy in the least. Quite soggy and undercooked, actually. They felt as if they were cooked, packaged, and left to sit while I sat waiting in the lobby area. The wings were somehow overcooked as if to make up for the al dente fries. This has been a recurring issue for the last three orders I placed. I don't know how we got to to this point. I live two minutes away and i have enjoyed supporting local businesses, particularly during the pandemic. It appears I need to reconsider that position. read more

This was not known before, but this is an excellent choice for a large group lunch. We had fifteen in a room separate from the other guests. My Big E's Ranch Burger with a side of coleslaw was an excellent choice. The burger was jute large, but I managed to consume every bite of it. My lunch was enjoyed! It was very tasty. I came here seeking asylum from the hurricane in Florida. Had an employee corner my friends in the restroom whom she did not know, spread fake lies she had heard from an ex girlfriend to paying customers that they should leave because i was here. My friends knew it was all a lie & expressed it to said employee but this employee felt she was in her own right to continue this threat on my character over the course of the next 10 minutes. This employee does not know me personally nor my friends. I secretly love NRT. I mean if you're looking for a chill low-key place to drink on the cheap and get good pub food you're at the right place! I like that it's in the burbs so you know there's plenty of free parking, also it doesn't hurt is close to me. I love coming here on Thursdays because they have $4 captain and a $5.95 burger (with the purchase of a drink) and your choice of side. I always opt for the Big ranch burger, which is a big portion of meat cooked how you want it with Provolone cheese, bacon, an onion ring, lettuce, tomato, and of course ranch dressing.
