Got a standard diner special: juice (orange), two eggs (sunny side up) with ham, potatoes, and toast (whiskey down (Diner talk for rye)). Service was quick and on point. The Diner has been here for some time. The establishment is located on corner Northern Blvd and Francis Lewis Blvd. They do have a parking lot but sometimes they are full (evenings). The also have street parking but you gotta be careful with street parking because they are metered and they check! The establishment is clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. They are open every day. Most of there entrees are pretty good size and are good. Numerous times we would come here last min with a big party and they would accommodate us without a problem and are generous. read more

I did not enjoy my recent dinner at this restaurant. It was 80° and I requested air conditioning twice, and was told when leaving it would be turned on tomorrow. My dinner order fish was bland and dry, my sides, though tasty were very small. Husbands French fries were returned-- they tasted old and refried. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was good. The waitress came by at the end of the meal to ask how everything was. Should have come by within a few minutes of receiving our food, not when we are done. read more

Came here for breakfast on Saturday with a friend. All I wanted was eggs, meat and pancakes and that's what I got. The only I didn't like was my sausage casing had a weird taste and I cut the casing off to eat the meat. Tasted better. My friend got 2 fried eggs over home fries with toast and OJ. The problem was the OJ was from a machine and not fresh squeezed. Wished it was fresh but it was ok. My hot chocolate was delicious. After finding out our first choice of restaurant had closed for the day, my friends and I rushed over during the storm to this diner. Why not? They have a parking lot and side street parking. Oh they also have valet parking! They have a good amount of seating in this diner and they also have clean restrooms! So don't be afraid to walk in there.. Usually when I come here, I always ordered their waffles despite whatever time of day it is... Those I highly recommend.. This time was different though. Had to order non breakfast foods! The food we ordered was amazing: monte cristo, crab cake pasta, baked potato skin, and Manhattan clam chowder. Also, we ordered a salad with an oil based dressing. The Manhattan clam chowder is not like the New England clam chowder! It's not creamy and it's a tomato based broth loaded with vegetables. It's delicious especially when you dip the bread they served you into the chowder. Where have I been all these years?! Compared to the soup, unfortunately, we ignored the salad... Loved the huge servings of vegetables but if we picked a better dressing, maybe we would have loved it... Monte cristo is something that has a breakfast twist! It's sweet and savory with a perfect amount of saltiness from the cheese. It's served on French toast and of course the cheese was all melted all over! It was delicious! Syrup was poured over it and it was even better! Oddly, it was served with a side of cold slaw and pickles but that's fine. Baked potato skins with bacon and cheese served with sour cream is just like any other baked potato skin. Of course, I had to smother tobacco sauce all over it! Crab cake pasta is exactly what it is! Two large crab cakes served with a side of angel hair pasta and marinara. It also came with some sauce for the crab cake (tartar sauce?). This was pretty good! I had plenty of flavored and paired well with the pasta (shocking!)... Of course we had to pour cheese all over that. - we are cheese people! As for the wait staff, they were amazing! They kept coming around and made sure we were doing good. Our waiter had a great sense of humor! The girls in the front were sweet and so was the owner (I am just assuming he is....). We had asked them to put away our delicious Haagen Daz ice cream cake and right before we left, they helped us pull the birthday surprise off! Used to go here often when I lived in the area a few years ago and also because they were open 24/7. Unfortunately they no longer are. Not sure what their hours are and how late they are open to. But I usually found that they were the busiest for weekend lunch/brunch, as to be expected for most diners. Not a big fan of diner food, but whenever I wanted something greasy and filling, this was my spot. Nothing beats a burger and fries. They have an extensive menu so you have many options to choose from. I also liked that they had a parking lot. A staple on Francis Lewis Blvd, this place has been around for as long as I can remember. There are lots of things to explain at this place. First, the customer service was okay, as it was sometimes hard to communicate due to the servers understanding little English. I originally ordered creamed spinach and a baked sweet potato as side dishes. In my meal, I thought that they didn't have the baked sweet potato and had to choose another side. What did they really run out was the creamed spinach. I chose the mashed potatoes as a replacement, but when it came out, it was with the baked sweet potato. To add on, the food took long to come out. Second, the quality of the food is hard to forget. I ordered the "fresh" ham with the sides I mentioned earlier with a chicken noodle soup. The "fresh" ham topped with gravy was awful and mediocre like a cheap open faced sandwich without the bread. Plus, the stuffing inside the slices of thin ham was an inedible mush that I couldn't eat. The chicken noodle soup tasted and looked like something inside of a Campbell's soup can with some vegetables thrown in. We also had some burgers, which were average like the stereotypical standard found at a NY diner. The quality you get at this place was definitely not worth your money, considering that the food is overpriced. I was very disappointed about this experience that we always wanted to try. According to the person at the cashier's desk, North Shore Diner is the only diner open 24/7 from Bayside to Astoria. Followers of mine may have seen that I've been on a hunt for good breakfast spots around me that are open for business at or before 5 a.m. Food: my wife loves the chopped steak quesadilla, but the third day that I tried to order it at about 5 a.m., I was told that the guy wasn't in yet and won't be in for another half an hour, so I called again after 30 minutes to try and order it for pickup, but it was still not available. I guess being open 24 hours a day doesn't mean that the entire menu is available. I also tasted the corned beef hash with an omlette and found it lovely, if not a bit pricey. Everything else here appears to be typical diner food. Service: the people who work here appeared friendly enough, although service can be a bit slow, even at 430/5 a.m. Decor: the interior is built like a classic New York City diner, nothing more, nothing less. I have been here several times on the weekend and each time has been absolutely fabulous! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The menu has a lot of options ranging from breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The way to go is to order off of the dinner menu or one of their sauté options. These dishes come with soup, salad, entree, dessert, coffee or tea for only about $20. Also, the portions are MASSIVE- you'll be taking some home for sure. I've had the chicken imperial and the chicken Mediterranean, both of which were delicious and healthy. North Shore has always had good food. Last night I went there was with a few friends. Outdoor dining was very classy. The food came quickly. My burger was cooked to perfection. I asked for extra pickles and cole slaw. And they provided. The staff was fast and courteous. And the cost for four people was less than $80.00. The only drawback was that some guy waiting at the nearby bus stop was smoking and coughing. Well, I can't fault North Shore for someone else's bad habit. A local favorite. This is my go-to place when I'm in the mood for some diner food. I've tried other diners in the area, but this has to be my favorite that I keep coming back to. This diner feels very much like a mom-and-pop type of place. The prices are good for what you get, and the food is decent. Don't expect any 5-star restaurant service or food quality, but you already knew that the moment you decided you wanted diner food. That being said, I haven't had a single dish I was not happy with. Shame on you. You get one star for customer service. Ordered Chicken Parmesan for delivery through Uber eats. Also ordered a vegetable side for $9.20. The Parm was supposed to come with a side of spaghetti which did not show up. When I called to inquire, I was screamed at by the hostess who sounded like she was 15. I demanded to speak to a manager, who wouldn't give me the courtesy of hearing me out. Clearly prices are through the roof-due to inflation-but you should at least get what you paid for. I come in once in a awhile for brunch on the weekends. Today came here for lunch before going hiking. The food is not super special. Good food for the price. The price is super cheap. Ordered a cheeseburger deluxe. They give such large portions. I always end up not finishing my food. The breakfast food here is good too with really large portions. I would recommend either sharing one with two or coming here when super hungry. The staff is really nice here. Its not just the hello and byes. My wife and I have been going to this diner for as long as I can remember. Important to support local businesses during this COVID crisis. We have been greeted always quickly, bus boys are attentive, waiters are responsive to our needs, food is good and large portions. Secondly, the home fries were almost non existent... maybe 1/3 of a cup. Grand total...... $41.00!!!!!!!!!! I am all about the dependable diner. Like a trusty old blanket, it is neither flashy nor modern but fits the bill when you just want something familiar. North Shore Diner has been around for ages and I've stopped in here quite a few times over the past few years to grab a quick bite. Efficiency is a huge plus here - I'm always greeted and seated within seconds of walking through the door and food and water glasses are bussed to and from tables at a quick, no-nonsense tempo. Prices and menu offerings are what you'd expect from any diner, and generally (as with any order) the more conventional one's order, the better. For instance, my friend ordered from the omelette specials, which came with toast, a choice of potatoes, and a cup of soup and found it 'just fine'. My own veggie burger deluxe was as good as one could expect, although the patty was cooked a little too soft and was already crumbling in my hands a few bites in. The fries that accompanied my meal were fresh, hot, and crispy, with a healthy helping to boot. On any given hour, this is a bustling diner, with folks seeming to enjoy their meals left and right. On my last visit, I overheard another table complaining about their egg salad (they didn't know it came atop a bed of greens) and I was impressed with how quickly and uncomplainingly the waiter whisked it away to get her another plate. My friend and I last came on a hot, summer afternoon but it was brisk and chilly in here, to the point where I needed to run and grab a hoodie from the car just to keep my teeth from chattering. Yuck. What did I just eat here. We came here on a sunday at noon and was seated right away. This place had a decent amount of customers. I ordered the grilled chicken cheddar mushroom sandwich with French fries and my husband ordered the spinach and mushroom omelet with home fries and a side of wheat toast. Portions were huge for sure but the taste was awful. The omelet was dry, bland and had a funky almost feet taste. Most awful omelet ever. And how can you mess up an omelet?! My chicken sandwich was huge. It was served opened and I've never seen a piece of chicken breast that big. It was served on a roll and the chicken breast spread from one end of the roll to the other end of the other roll (see my picture). It must have been a giant chicken to have some breast meat that huge! But the flavor was just not good. It was very dry, and did not have much flavor on it. I would have much preferred a chicken sandwich from Wendy's. The French fries were even bad..how can a diner serve bad fries?! Oh and even the pickle that came with the sandwich tasted awful. Think it was not fresh. Service was good however. I feel bad for the waitress to work at such a diner that serves such poor quality of food. Won't be back again read more

It was a disaster for lunch. I ordered a Greek wrap with grilled chicken, I got grilled chicken with lettuce only, no feta no cucumbers, no tomatoes. I've had it there before. They take it back and try to rewrap it again still without the correct ingredients. Send it back again. Order a 2 egg omelet, not the usual 3eggs, with feta and tomatoes . Overdone, hardly any feta, hardly any, if at all, tomatoes, no sides and they charge me the full price. Will never go back there. read more

Friendly staff, delicious .and perfectly made chicken souvlaki deluxe, staff comes to check up on how you're doing, small talk and joking around. Huge portions if whatever you order.
