I got my oil changed here awhile ago, they number one completely stripped my oil pan threads then added some repair bolt one that's completely horrible instead of fixing it correctly or telling me then months later I go to get an oil change and my threads are bad I need a new oil pan and they never even told me, horrible experience don't come here. Update Following up you are the last shop that changed my oil so no I did not take it to jiffy lube as you suspect, [[HIGHLIGHT]]your technicians failed to notify me that they put a cheap repair drain plug in my car and over torqued it like crazy so it was a very difficult process when I had to bring it in to my mechanic and get it replaced, I Literally had no clue you guys did that until I brought it in for another oil change then I had to buy a whole new oil pan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] you guys completely stripped my old oil pan threads and took out the oem drain plug, Never told me anything. It was fine. There was a good deal of recommendations for the place and it was only about a mile away which made it super easy since I had to get a ride when dropping off and a taxi when picking up. They replaced my battery and the cost wasn't terribly outrageous. They also recommended a company for towing since my car wouldn't start which turned out to be a fantastic recommendation. Whilst the service was quick, I wish they hadn't acted as though my concerns were ridiculous. I was having problems with my car. I procrastinated too long (my fault) until the wheel fell off. I had it towed here since I had prior work done and felt there were honest. Very happy I took my car here to he fixed! They are quick, friendly, and all-around a great shop. My brakes, rotors, tie rods, wheel bearing, and control arm (forgot what else) were all replaced. My child hit a curve with his ATV and broke a tire with Rim and all.... ordered a new tire and rim and needed to be put together...on Saturday at 12pm . Thought my oil lite was on and worried so took the car to Uptown. Narah said it was the check engine lite (embarrassed). Now I was really scared as could mean a lot of money vs just adding oil. He brought a hand-held censor to the car and discovered the oil cap was not screwed on! Such relief. Would not accept money, only a hug. So grateful. read more

I took my car into Jiffy Lube for an oil change and shortly after started to notice a weird burning smell. I brought my car into Uptown Auto to see if they could help, and I had the best experience I've ever had with an auto repair shop. The gentleman who helped me was patient and knowledgeable. The jiffy lube had not properly changed my oil and it leaked all over my engine. He cleaned my engine, changed my oil, and then charged me far less than what I would have expected. Incredible! I took my car to several mechanics, including the dealership, for a fluid leak in the rear of the vehicle (Rear Differential Fluid). It needed a new seal and gasket, a 2.5 hour job...nothing too overwhelming. But true to form...every mechanic I took it to gave me an entire horror story about how much more work is needed in addition to just replacing the seal. They all wanted to take my entire car apart to replace EVERYTHING...most of which was still in decent shape, just normal wear and tear...the car only has 90K miles on it. Anyhow, I took it to Uptown Auto on a recommendation of a friend and was ready to hear another doom-and-gloom story about how much "more work" needed to be done...but to my surprise they were actually HONEST AND UPFRONT. Put it up on the lift; aimed in on the fluid leak, and replaced the seal in 2 hours. Done! Great final price as well! Highly recommend. read more

Have had two less than enjoyable experiences with this shop. Both times have had the work supposedly "done" and then had to bring the car back because the problem wasn't fixed. They also are pretty awful when it comes to communication - was told again I could come pick up the car only to get there and find out the work wasn't finished and I'd wasted $25 in rides to and from their shop. Had a knocking sound under car, took it in they said they repaired it. As soon as I left the sound started up again. I called them to let them know they said they can not hear what I hear so they don't know what it is. Went to another shop and the sound is gone. I brought my 2005 Tahoe here for the first time. I always brought it to the dealer, so this was a first. Being that both the Tahoe & me are old and I'm on a budget, I wasn't looking forward to an expensive repair. I came in to Uptown Auto to have a slow leak in one of my tires fixed. After discovering the issue (nail in tire). The manager Norm recommended replacing the tire as I was about to leave for 2 week family vacation, I agreed but after looking at the remaining 3 tires we decided it made more sense to replace all 4. Long story short, he got me 4 new tires installed in less then 90 minutes. Considering Park Ridge doesn't allow mechanics to have a large stock of tires on hand, I felt this was a small miracle. Brought my ML 350 in to have 2 TMPS valves replaced ,while doing the service mechanic split my tire. A new tire was needed and this owner charged me for replacing the tire his employee ruined. Let me first say that I'm particular and OCD. I've been coming to Uptown Auto Repair ever since they opened their doors. I found them while going to drop off mail at the Post Office. (as they are right across the street) My old Izsusu Rodeo needed some work done on my brakes which Norm took the time to explain how much the work would cost and took time explain what I needed and why. He also let me know what needed immediate attention and what I could put off so it wasn't as terrible on the pocket book. Being a female, I find that men often talk less technical in predominately male fields. (i.e. shopping for a car, oil changes, mechanic work, painters) I felt so relieved when I came to Uptown, I didn't feel intimidated and they didn't push extra work that I didn't need. I can't stand places that just want to sell you on everything that you don't need. NOPE - not at Uptown, not once did they try to sell me something I didn't actually need. Since then I've upgraded to a Ford Escape which I brought to Uptown prior to purchasing. They did a full inspection because I wanted to make sure I wasn't buying a lemon or something that would needs tons of work put into it. I've had my AC worked on and a few other things. I always bring my SUV here for an oil change because I don't trust (10 minute oil change shop), I prefer having a mechanic who can let me know if something is wrong or needs servicing. If you are looking for a mechanic shop that is honest and true, then you found the perfect place. I wanted to add that I always check/read reviews. I've learned over the years that you can't please anyone and often the negative reviews can be from someone who expects more and wants to pay less or nothing. I overlook those reviews. I realize you can't please everyone but I think sometimes it's the person and not the business that has the problem. And that is my two cents. Keep up the fabulous work and when it comes time for work, oil change or if I purchase another vehicle - Uptown is the ONLY place I'd go. read more

I came to visit him today with a friends vehicle that was leaking large quantities of power steering fluid (we're talking quarts per minute..) and Norm was able to fix the vehicle within just a few moments, and assist us in figuring out that the car had been vandalized. Used Norm for years and always came really close to good service but just seemed to fall short in execution. Last trip was the last due to the results, had a reoccurring issue and unfortunately warranty on parts was up. Norm let me know a price and I asked for oil change and deal was agreed on. I was very busy with work so my wife had to pick up the car, when I went to turn it on the next morning the steering wheel was at a 45 degree angle ,4 indicator lights were on ,the horn didn't work, tire pressure was low and the oil was not changed. These guys are great! This is the second time I've had to use them to replace a battery (two separate cars) and they couldn't have been nicer.
